I was looking for a high-quality heating tape to insure my water pipe wouldn't freeze during the winter...this M-D tape was perfect. You can buy cheaper tapes, but this is a heavy-duty tape that should last for years. I installed the tape last autumn, it kept my pipe from freezing this winter, and it looks in perfect condition six months later.

My pipe was frozen solid, with more cold weather in the forecast. I wrapped my pipe with this after work, and by the next day at noon (the next time I checked), the water was flowing freely. It is nice that it has a thermostat, and a light to indicate that it is working, so I can see from the side of the house without having to go downstairs (at least at night).

used it to wrap water bucket for chicken water. it is keeping water unfrozen. made my own chicken waterer, bucket, nipples and heat coil. cheap and works great

Simple did the trick! I wrapped it around standard garden hose and then surrounded it by foam insulation. January had average temperatures BELOW zero all month. Morning lows of -20 and colder were COMMON. The only thing I had to do was occasionally check the circuit breaker as the campgrounds wiring was inferior... but no fault to the heating cable.
