Purchased this along with my BAYweb Internet Controlled Thermostat (White), had no problems with it. What more can you ask of a basic piece of cable, though?

This was the best price I could find for both the guage and length of the thermostat wire. I knew I needed a bit more than 50' and with this product, I didn't have to pay more than competitive products for twice the length. I also wanted the 5 wire to allow me some flexibility for future upgradability even though I only really needed 2 wires as my AC system carries the common wire and I am using seperate wires.

The insulation does seem to strip easily but that seems common with this type of wire. I did not have any problems with the copper breaking when they were bent around the terminals. I also did not appear to have any problems with the jacket getting stripped even though the location I pulled the wire exposed it to abrasion. The wire is also rated for outdoor exposure so I was less concerned about the exposed part of the run from my attic to the basement on the outside of the house.

I am giving this 4 stars because of the price but I was not blown away by the quality to the point I felt it was worth 5 stars.

Once installed, works fine. The 18awg solid wire isn't easy to bend during installation at the screw terminals and breaks easy. Leave an extra 1 to 2 feet in the wall just in case.

These wires are so rigid that they sure don't seem to be regular 100% copper wire, and the insulation on them is very thin and easily scratched through.! They sort of look like copper and, copper wire is not brittle.
