I bought this fryer mainly because of its capacity, we're a family of 4, and because I heard good things about it. I am so glad I did! This fryer cooks 3 pounds of food perfectly! I made a ton of homemade potato chips tonight. This fryer is easy to use and easy to clean, and, as a bonus, it's easy to drain so you can save your oil.

When I was a teenager I worked at Burger King, and cooking with this fryer made me feel like I was at the fry station again (not that I want to relive that feeling). But, really, it has an actual basket that lowers into the hot oil and it has a place to set the basket so when your food is done it drains properly.

My Chinese chicken and broccoli has never tasted so good! This fryer is a gem.

If you like to cook and want to cut down your cooking time on foods such as french fries, chicken, fish for tacos etc..., then this is definitely a purchase to make. Amazon has free shipping on this fryer which is why I bought it from them.

We had a Fry Daddy years ago, and there is absolutely no comparison whatsoever between the Fry Daddy and this Delonghi fryer. Delonghi is light years ahead.

This deep fryer won't disappoint!

My family and I celebrate Thanksgiving with a large seafood feast. Much of it is fried, and we need a LOT because everyone loves it. Traditionally, I have been the one camped outside in whatever weather happened to be around that year, frying up the large batches in my turkey fryer. While the adventure was always fun, monitoring temperature through multiple batches was difficult, and cleanup was always a nightmare. This year, we decided to try something that would keep me inside and possibly ease the cleanup effort. This fryer seems to be the answer.

First, I should say that I only give 5 stars when I can't think of a way to improve a product, so don't let the 4 stars color your impression. This fryer did everything I needed with no hassle. We were able to to fry up over 4 lbs of shrimp, 1 pint and a half of oysters, over 2 lbs of scallops, 4 soft shell crabs, and 3 large catfish fillets. I used smaller batches since this was my first time using the fryer, so it took a little longer, but I'm totally comfortable using larger batches next time around.

Once the oil reached temperature the first time, the unit had no problem maintaining the temperature. I probably ran about 15 batches through this fryer before I was done, and could have gone longer but would have had to change the oil. After we ate and relaxed for a bit, the oil was cool enough to drain for disposal. The best part was, after I drained the oil, my wife cleaned the fryer since it looked so easy to her (this is usually my job, also). She said the cleanup was a breeze. I've only had it about a week, so I'll update this review if durability becomes a problem. I expect we'll be using this unit rather often based on our experience. I should also point out that I never used the cover during the entire process, and did not notice much splatter around the unit. I probably would have used the cover (which has a metal, washable air filter) if I was using longer cooking times.

Since seafood fries quickly, I decided to set the time for 12 minutes, so I could manually control the start and stop of the heating element. So after first setting up the time and temperature my process was:

1) Press the on/off button with the food ready to go. When the green light comes on, drop the food and press on/off to start the timer (and keep the element going it shuts off if you don't press on/off when it reaches temperature).

2) After the proper frying time, press the on/off button to shut off the element, then pull the basket and dump the food.

3) Get the next batch ready, then press on/off to start the oil heating again. It usually only took a minute or two to get back to temperature, then drop the food and press on/off again to start the timer and cook the next batch.

Here's what I think could be better:

1) Operation can be confusing because it shuts off at each step in the process for safety reasons. They try to explain this in the instructions, but it's not real clear how to handle multiple batches. I described my solution above for anyone else who may have to do multiple batches. The trick is to set the time much longer than you expect a batch to take and shut it off manually. Otherwise, you have to reset the time for each batch (if you let the timer reach zero).

2) The digital display could use more information. At times it shows a temperature, but you don't know if it's showing you the actual temperature of the oil (which it does during the heating process), or the temperature you set. It would be nice if there was an indicator of which temperature is being displayed.

3) The plastic tab used as a safety interlock (pointed out by a previous reviewer) is a bit obscure and not called out by any of the instructions or enclosed warnings. Mine did not break, but I can see if you didn't know it was there, you might try to push down on the main unit to get it seated and end up breaking the tab. The main unit seats very easily when the tab is aligned with the proper hole, so don't press or you'll risk breaking the tab.

4) It's called a "dual zone" fryer, but the "cool zone" below the element is only about an inch deep. I have trouble believing that zone is much cooler than the oil an inch higher. I did find the food droppings were not as dark as when I used the turkey fryer, but that might be more related to my ability to use a slightly lower frying temperature with the smaller batches and not having the constant heat applied.

5) The drain spout could be a little longer to make it easier to put a container underneath while the unit is still on a counter. This is a convenience comment because the drain spout worked fine when we emptied the fryer, it was just hard to keep the container aligned with the spout.

5) It would be nice to have a little more room to shake the basket while frying, without hitting the element.

So to conclude, 4 stars means "very good" in my reviews. Between the way it performed, the easy cleanup, and the fact that all the parts store inside the unit for storage, I have no trouble recommending this fryer. I hope it is as durable as it was convenient.

Received this as a gift for Christmas '08. Have used it at least 8 times so far, and have had no problems with the function or electronics or anything. It does cook well, and it is nice and easy to clean once you have the oil drained (just throw most of it into the dishwasher!). However, one of the reasons that I requested this fryer was for the draining system, and I am pretty disappointed in it. I was hoping for something a little more sophisticated then just a simple valve that opens, like maybe a built-in filter and a reservoir to hold the oil.

If you want to drain the oil, you have to first find a nice container to use to store the oil in. Then you have to try and hold this container up to the valve, along with a strainer or other filter to keep the oil clean, and I found you also need a funnel to keep the oil from running all over the place. While holding all of these items under the valve, you then have to try and open the valve. Once most of the oil has drained into the container (hopefully!), then you need to try and tip the fryer forward to get the rest of it through the valve. This task is obviously a little easier with 2 people, but would have been a lot easier if they had designed the unit better and made it so you only had to open the valve and it just filtered into an attached reservoir (or even a detachable container of some sort).

Another thing I don't like is the fact that you have to set the timer before it will even start heating the oil. I'm not sure why, but once you select the temperature, it won't start heating until you set how long you will be cooking the food for. I have yet to even actually use the timer, since I usually need to cook several batches, so I just set the timer to something like 10 minutes, but then when the oil reaches the right temperature, I just cook the food and keep track of the cooking time myself.

Overall, it is a good fryer that does a good job of cooking the food, but I don't think it is worth the price until the draining system and electronic timer is improved.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi D24527DZ Dual Zone 3-Pound-Capacity Deep Fryer

This is the far best fryer I have ever owned.

Took some getting use to with the magnet plug. Once I learned how to use the plug everything was and is great with the fryer. Cooks fast and even.

You must have all items ready to go when using this product. I can have supper cooked less then 10 mins.

I love that I'm able to save oil, since all I use is peanut oil.

Looks great on the counter. Very easy to clean, everything goes into the dishwasher execpt heating element, which all you have to do with it is rinse with scolding hot water and a little soap and comes very clean.

I love it!!! Makes frying foods fun and not a job.

I cooked fried chicken in it and it came out crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. I have not fried chicken in years due to huge mess it makes, but this fryer made it easier.

If you are looking for a good looking and great fryer this is the one you should buy.

I purchased this product after months of research and reading prior customer reviews. I have made homemade chicken nuggets, onion rings and French fries and can't say enough good things about the results. One: Easy to operate; Two: Easy to clean; Three and most important: fabulous tasting fried foods! The only thing I want to leave you with is to buy enough oil---takes almost a gallon to get to the minimum fill level.

I have been looking for a nice large electric fireplace for about 2 years under $500. This one came and it is great! It is large enough to make a statement and have a prominent place in the room. The assembly took me about 1.5 hours and was not that difficult -you just need a screwdriver. The heater on the fireplace produces heat immediately and warms a room about 20'x20' nicely. Various settings for the flames, logs, and heater -it's simply wonderful for a snowy day!

I love my electric fireplace!!!! Had to receive the heater and the base separately(2 shipments) and i had only received the base! Called and they sent me the heater right away! I set it up in our bedroom and it heats up the room right away! We have left it all night on and i love that my electric bill has been less compared to when we had a little heater! Would most def buy again, a bit pricey but well worth the $

This is a very nice fireplace bought to put in a finished family room in the basement and it looks great. Although it has been very hot this summer, I tried the heater for about 30 minutes and it puts out nice warmth think it will be pefect to keep the room cozy this winter. HOWEVER, beware Amazon advertised this as 12 month free financing and it was not. When I called customer service, they told me that I was at least the 5th person they had talked to that had misunderstood the way that Amazon was advertising the deferred financing.

I really like this little guy. It was easy to assemble. It cranks out some serious heat. So far so good. The only complaint I have about it, is that the grill on the front gets REALLY hot when it's turned on. I guess it makes it more like a real fireplace! :)

I would recommend this fireplace to anyone who is looking to supplement their furnace heat to save on costs. And also for anyone who wants to add a little coziness to any room in their house.

This is a handy item for making tea on the road. It fits neatly into the car between the front seats and plugs into the cigarette lighter. It has two cups that are stored in the jug. The only problem is that it takes half an hour to boil 2 cups of water. That is much too long and meant that we never actually used it on our trip.

This is my second Travel Water Heater for car. Both units only lasted for about ten uses then died. On taking a closer look at my second unit after it died, it look as if it was wired for a 240/120 volt circuit and not a 12/24 volt circuit (internal wiring too thin). For the price and the fact it is CE certified I'm not impressed. I expected a better product with CE certification.

I would have preferred that this operate differently.

This can only be used to average out settings.

It cannot be used to monitor the temperature in a room and drive the temperature in that room to the desired setting.

I would like the thermostats to be smarter than this and give me the option of what I want to do.

At least it should display the remote sensed temperature but it doesn't.

It displays an average.

If you want to monitor the temperature in a room and drive it to that setting, the Portable Comfort Control (REM5000R1001) must be used.

I have found the Portable Comfort Control to have issues so it is not ideal either. However, it does not force the use of an average temperature setting.

If you are expecting the temperature of another room to be indicated on the Honeywell thermostat, this will not do so.

Only the Portable Comfort Control will do this with a wireless thermostat.

Purchased one of these with my new ac system in fall 2013. The Goodman comfortnet thermostat allows up to six of sensors to be connected. I installed one upstairs to help keep the the whole house temperature more accurate along with humidity levels. My upstairs is always warmer, but now I had such great results with one I now have five plus the thermostat. All work together to help keep our house at a more accurate temp. I've found that by mounting them on an inside wall about four feet high they provide very accurate readings. If you want your house to reflect the true temperature set on your thermostat then this is a most have. I paid an average of $37 a sensor.

This dehydrator rocks. I use it to make raw foods such as crackers & crusts and to dry sprouted seeds and nuts. It has worked well for my needs, feeding 2 people. The 4-tray unit may be too small for a family doing a lot of dehydrating. This unit doesn't have a timer. That's no problem, though. I just plug it into a grounded heavy-duty appliance timer. For the raw foodist, I recommend the Excalibur's square shaped drying surface design over the the round shaped dehydrators. I haven't purchased the rather pricey ParaFlexx sheets, but they would be handy for dehydrating things like spreads, yogurt, runny things, & thin crackers. The 4-tray unit dimensions are 16 1/2"L X 13"W X 6"H (Sorry, I'm metric illiterate). All dehydrator fans are going to make noise. I do not consider the 4-tray unit to be loud.

I left a review for this product back in March but somehow it was moved to another listing. I'll attempt leaving the review again with the hopes of saving another unsuspecting buyer from wasting his/her money:

I don't have a lot of space and thought that this 4 tray dehydrator would be the perfect solution. This thing is JUNK!!! The temperature control is completely inaccurate. On top of that, it only worked about 10 times before the heat failed completely. I tried the reset instructions to no avail. I then called the company and they made some excuse about the "rare" need for fuse replacement. The rep convinced me that it was a fluke and that the machine would most likely never need another fuse. I wanted to protect my investment so decided to chance it. It cost about $20 for the fuse/shipping. Installation instructions were fairly straight forward though it took some hassle to get everything back in place. I used the machine about 8-10 more times before it died again. What a complete waste of money--I wish I had never purchased this product. I called the company and they offered (at full charge) to send me another fuse or I could send the product to them for repair. The cost to ship there and back plus the outrageous repair fee would equal close to what I paid for the thing in the first place. When you look inside, this thing is built like one of those light-bulb-on-a-battery things you throw together as a kid. That would be a bonus if the parts and repair were priced in accordance. This company knows how to make lots of money. I wish they had the same ambition when it came to making a decent product. I'm going back to the $30 model at my local store. Those round tray versions get a lot of bad mouthing by this company. Maybe that's because they actually LAST and they also cost (for the entire unit) only slightly more than the puny fuse in the Excalibur. Don't fall for the marketing hype like I did. This company does not stand by its product.

If you do a Google search, which I should have done up front, you will see that the temperature control on these units is awful.

I have to crank mine up all the way to 145F to get the internal temp up to 100F (not even warm enough to dry without spoiling.)

Older Excaliber units were very good. As is the case with so many companies today, manufacturing has gone down hill. Fewer and fewer new purchasers are pleased with this product. I wish I had kept my shipping material. Lesson learned.

Been using this for a few months so far, and couldn't be happier. I love beef jerky as an everyday snack, but it can get expensive buying it at the store all the time. A coworker is big on do it yourself foods and told me how to make jerky at home and decided to give it a try. At first I was doing it in the oven, which worked decently, but he kept telling me about his Excalibur and how great it was. So I decided to throw down the money, and very happy I did.

He had the 9 try version and that just seemed like way too much, which it would have been. I found this 4 tray and the price was pretty good at $100. I can do about 2 1/2 pounds at a time which is perfect. The Excalibur is so straight forward and easy to use. Theres no On/Off switch, so just plug it in and it turns on. The temperature dial even shows the type of foods you should be using at each temperature. (ex 155:meat, fish, 125:vegetables) This is good if you are not sure what to use. There is no timer, which is ok for me. I'll only do a batch on my days off anyways. Jerky takes around 6 hours, sometimes a little more.

I will admit the dehydrator does feel like cheap plastic, but you dont need something thats made out of heavy duty metal to dehydrate. It is pretty light for its size. Theres not much to it besides the case, the fan inside and the trays. Each tray has a removable and flexible mesh that is easy to clean. The fan is a nice feature as some other brands do not have one. This allows for the heat to be blown across the trays evenly. Although I have noticed that the lower tray seems to dry slower then the other 3. But for that I just recommend rotating the trays about half way through. You can rotate more then once if you really want to, but I dont think you need to. Rotating once did the trick for me.

You can do many types of food in a dehydrator, but I just use it to make beef jerky. I love being able to experiment with my own recipes and make it just the way I want. My friend gave me a recipe at first, and it was good, but I've been able to perfect it for me. After making a couple of batches and eating my own recipe I decided to try a bag of my favorite brand from the store, and Wow what a difference. I dont even like the taste of that brand anymore. I can never go back after making my own.

I highly recommend buying an Excalibur. Depending on your needs, the 4 tray was perfect for me. Dont let the fact that its made out of plastic fool you. It is high quality and I love using it.

This electric fireplace/heater was great until it completely fell apart under its own heat. It lasted about 2 or 3 weeks and then I noticed something looked wrong. I opened the door to investigate and the back plate had fallen forward. When I opened the door, the door is connected to a side plate and the whole thing just came off. When I looked at what had happened, I realized that underneath the exterior which is made to look like metal there is this stuff that looks like recycled cardboard. The heat just broke it down. And it just tore loose. When I tried to turn it over to find the serial number which the seller had requested, the fake logs that were on the bottom fell out. The whole thing just seemed to disintegrate from its own heat. The seller was decent and gave a refund and they will make the effort themselves of dealing with the manufacturer who did not readily respond. I have been buying through Amazon for over a decade and have never had a bad experience before. I have never had to return anything before. This is a completely defective product. I would not have given it one star but that is the lowest rating allowable.

I initially bought a used Dimplex DS5629 on eBay. It was shipped in the original packaging via FedEx. When it arrived, a leg was broken and the mirror inside had exploded -glass everywhere including in my finger. The seller was kind enough to give a total refund. After that experience, I warily ordered another new unit from Ozbo on Amazon Marketplace. I chose the seller because of price and proximity figuring that the less far it had to go, the less chance for trauma. I received the item promptly, again via FedEx, and actually witnessed the driver take the item off the truck, slinging the box upside down over his shoulder and then almost sitting it down on its side in my garage. My heart sank even though there was no external damage to the box. When I took the item out of the box, I was relieved to see that it grossly looked fine except that the logset was slightly disloged. I set it up in the bedroom and repositioned the logset. It worked perfectly. Settling back in a chair to enjoy the show, I noticed that there was an asymetrical reflection off the mirror. So I opened the door and noted that the mirror, which is held in place by grooves in the sides of the cabinet, was partially dislodged. This was because one of the sides of the cabinet was slightly displaced outwards at its top. The fact that two screws that hold the sides to the front top metal bracket were never put in might have contributed. So I carefully relocated the mirror into its grooves and pushed the side of the cabinet back into place, securing it with the missing screws in the front and further beefing up cabinet integrity by adding angle brackets between the cabinet sides and top on the inside of the cabinet. So now everything is secure and looks as it should.

There is no beef with the cosmetics of this item. It looks great, the heater works well, and the flame effect is outstanding. However had the mirror been totally disloged, this unit would have also been toast. This manufacturer needs to beef up cabinet integrity and/or packing and needs to VERY prominently display "Fragile" and "This Side Up" on the outside of the box so that FedEx won't sling it around like a sack of potatoes.

This heater is such a great addition to our cabin. It fits so nicely in the corner and we don't have to worry about any particular dementions from the wall. The front viewing are is large enough so you can view the ambience of the flames without having any extra grids to look past. It has a nice sheek look and is so easy to use. Comes with a remote which is great for keeping kids away from the controls and for distance. Puts off a good amount of heat from the fan that is on the bottom. Would definately buy another and am very satisfied with this purchase.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program

The video provides a quick overview of the thermostat and steps through some of the menu options.

Overall, I'm very happy with this thermostat. It replaced an older programmable thermostat that came with my house in 2000 and still worked fine, but this one has some nice added features such as a large touchscreen and a reminder to replace my air filter. Although the touch screen only registers a touch at certain locations, it is a nice step up from the small screen on my previous unit. It's really easy to read the screen when the back light is on after you've touched the screen. I also like that its hysteresis (how far away from the set point that it turns on and off) is pretty narrow it doesn't run as long as my older thermostat, and it keeps the temperature in a more comfortable band for me. That was an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

It's not perfect, though. It's a bit difficult for me to read in its normal (no back light) condition, and there's no menu option to change the contrast of the LCD screen (which surprised me). It also, and this is just personal preference on my part, doesn't display the time of day unless you touch the screen. I was used to being able to see the time as I walked by the thermostat in my hallway. Not a big deal, but I wish it showed it.

Pros:

(*) Controls temperature to a narrower band than some other thermostats (smaller hysteresis)

(*) Nice, big screen

(*) Screen is very easy to read when the back light is on

(*) Is easy to mount and is pretty flush against the wall

(*) A number of menu settings that are easy to navigate, including (and one of my favorite features) a reminder for replacing an air filter

Cons:

(*) Screen is fairly dim unless you touch it and have the back light turn on (but it turns off fairly quickly), and there is no menu setting to adjust the LCD contrast

(*) Clock only displays when you press the screen

At its current price of $90, there are a number of options out there to choose from in this price class. While it's not perfect, it is nice and I recommend giving it some consideration as you shop around.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was looking to find a new thermostat to replace my old thermostat that came with the house.

I wanted 3 things large display, lighted display, simple. And this fit the bill.

Pro's:

*Large screen

*Simple set up (My Mom was able to use it while house sitting). "1 touch" Settings for away, home, sleep

*Interchangeable faceplate (to match wall plate colors)

-

Con's:

-Touch screen is not as responsive as a smart phone (its only really active on the outer edges)

4/5 stars

This is a great improvement over old, simple thermostats.

It has a large screen that lights up once you touch it...even though it sometimes takes several touches in the right areas for it to come to life. So here are some details for you to be able to make a decision to buy or to pass.

Pro's:

Nice large screen

Very easy to set up

interchangeable color borders (inserts to match the color of your wallYellow, gold/light brown, light grey, white and transparent)

31 touch favorite settings (Away, Home, Sleep)

Nice large numbers (large digital buttons)

simple to operate

Lots of installation options and works with a lot of different systems (however mine is pretty straightforward so I have not tested this).

Con's:

-Only one, the touchscreen is only activate around the edges, if you press the middle where the readings show up it won't activate (therefore the 4 stars).

So far it's temperature sensitivity and readings have been pretty accurate. It's very easy to change and adjust settings on the fly...now it's not a Nest but really a top of the line Thermostat, definitely a BUY.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I had never installed a thermostat before but had been reassured by many that the industry has reformed itself over the last decade and home installation is pretty easy. We have a one year old condo this unit is going in and I was able to remove the old thermostat and install the new one in less then an hour which is way quicker then I thought it would take me.

We don't have AC, just a fan and heat and everything seems to be working fine. The programming is easy and in general the interface was intuitive.

The only reason I don't give this five stars is thats it's a bit of an eyesore. Obviously the NEST is the aesthetic champion at twice the price (but also with more features) but perhaps White Rodgers can make this a little more stylized as its very prominent in our living room. I wished it didn't look like it belonged in a dentists office.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I approached installing the thermostat with some trepidation, I'd never done something like this before. Reading the reviews made me feel a little more confidence ("if they can do it!") so I dove in, and by dove in, I mean I read the manual then read it again and then once more for good measure. From what I was reading, it seemed like it would be an easy installation.

In fact, as it turned out, extricating the thermostat from its Fort Knox was the hardest part of the entire endeavor. Being careful to label the wires out of the wall according to the tremendously helpful diagrams, I was soon pushing them into the contact receptacles. In all, it took me less than 15 minutes to remove the old thermostat and put the new one in.

The second-most difficult part of this adventure was the programming itself. At first, the manual instructs you to keep things as they are, default out of the box and to attempt actual programming later. After some brainwork, I was able to decide what temperature settings I would be using. I wager that without the manual, you'd have little chance of success since there were some settings identified only as "3" and no titles.

Once the temperature settings were sorted, actually programming the thermostat was quite easy. In the few days beforehand, we would manually set the temperature on the touch-screen and either "permanent hold" it (with useful buttons labeled clearly) at that temperature or "temporary hold" until the next temperature switchover time. Nifty. Each button press is accompanied by a satisfying and confirmatory beep. After a while, the neon green backlighting turns off leaving a washed-out grayish background which is very difficult to see in dim lighting. The way to turn it back on is to find and press an "active" key (like the temperature setting button). This is almost impossible to do when it's dark.

Anyway, since programming was completed a few weeks ago, it's been set-it-and-forget-it. With this thermostat from the Alpha Centauri(!), it is possible to set it on either the cool or heat settings or have the thermostat automatically switch between them. That last setting has been extraordinary. No longer do I need to come home and immediately rush to the thermostat to start the heat cycle this winter.

Apart from the non-existent backlighting that forces you to hunt and peck on the screen to turn it on in the dim, this is an excellent piece of hardware and I wonder why I didn't get one before now. 5 stars!

I bought this fan because it has a fan blade design which are used in quiet fans. It is very quiet, and makes a low tone when running, versus the whine of other window fans. It's low profile allows you to see out of your window more instead of blocking the view, perfect for spring and summer. Since it is small and light, it is easy to insert and remove from the window, something that's hard to do with a bulky fan.

Notes: It is billed as a whole-house fan, but it doesn't move that quantity of air, if it did it would have to be noisy. It should be marketed instead on it's best points, quietness and low-profile. One of my new outlets seemed not to want to connect to the plug, so it looked like it was plugged in but no power was received. I blame this on my outlet rather than the fan, as it works in my other outlets. It comes with a sturdy side extension built-in, and two extra extensions to add on the other side. One extension is hidden in the foam packaging, so look for it before you throw the foam away. Each side has a rubber seal that can be inserted and removed on the extensions, so you can put it wherever it needs to go. Overall this is a high-quality fan and I'll get more for my other rooms. I'm quite impressed with this one.

Picked one up at BJ's and have to say its very nice. Low profile and powerful. Our house doesn't get air movement so when its cool outside the house remains very hot. This fan pulled in enough air to cool a 300sq ft room quickly. Its also very quiet.

The only CON I can see is that you can't switch between exhaust and intake directions. You have to pull out the fan and switch its blowing direction. The unit does feature controls on both sides making this easy though.

Great fan, priced right, offers a 5yr warranty!

I just picked this up at our local BJ's on a whim.. and i have to say, i am pleasantly surprised at this little unit. its not the most powerful fan on the market by any stretch, but it moves enough air to justify its cost. It is Very quiet, probably one of the quietest fans on the market. It has a 5 year warranty and that was one of the reasons i picked it up with everything seeming to be made from the cheapest plastics and components these days.. I ran it through the Killawatt and it pulls 41 watts with all three fans running. it pulls 12 watts with a single fan running. I'd say per volume of air moved, this is probably one of the more efficient fans on the market per watt. They claim 40% more air moved, and i do believe it.

Honest reviews on Bionaire Whole-House Triple Window Fan with Adjustable Thermostat

While this fan looks nice and offers three fans to move air, it works poorly. The two fan model is significantly better at moving air and has the same or less noise output than the 3 blade model. If you are going to spend the money, the two blade model is much better.

Bought this heater back in Dec. (from another store) to heat up a fairly large living room. The unit was a little smaller than I thought in would be once I took it out of the box, but I still thought it might do the job. I like the basic design of the unit with the curve blower at the top and it does blow a fair amount of hot air. However, I didn't feel that the air that was blowing out of it was all that hot. I have a smaller "personal" unit that seems a lot hotter. So, unfortunetly it didn't really heat the room up. I could only get the room temp to increase by 2-4 degrees no matter how long the unit was on for. It worked better as a personal heater in the room, but that's not what I bought it for. I do feel that this unit would work better in a smaller room like a bedroom, especially when you close the room up. You could have a nice toasty room in about an hour. The fan isn't to loud but it might be a little more noticable in a smaller room.

Bottom line, it's a great unit but it didn't really meet my needs in this case. Although it didn't really work for me, I think it would work great in a smaller enclosed area. I ended up returning the unit and then purchased the Optimus H-5300. Although this is a Quartz heater with no fan, it's a bigger unit and is by far, hotter. It takes a little longer to heat up the room (not much), but I can increase the room temp by 4-8 degrees.

I brought this heater home, plugged it in, and it ran on the high setting for about 5 minutes, constantly switching between low and high. Then, it shut off, and it would not turn back on. I unplugged it and let it cool for an hour or so, and ran it on the low setting this time. It stayed on, but was constantly switching on and off, and did not give off enough heat to heat a bathroom, much less a large room. I returned the heater and got another just like it. This one ran slightly better, but again shut off after 5-10 minutes and would not power back up. This thing is of no value. You'd have more success heating a room with your computer.

This heater will heat up a room in a fair amount of time and keep it warm even if you have it on the lowest setting. This heater does not get hot or anything if you use it although the cord may get hot after a while.

I got this heater half price for $35 at Target a few days ago and yesterday it broke on me. I only used it for a brief amount of time each day just to heat up the room for approximately 3 days and it broke. The power indicator would light up but the control panel would not work no matter how I pushed it. It would occasionally come on and off flickering on and off. Basically I think the control panel area is defective so I will be bringing it back and getting a better model.

Overall: Good price, nice heat, bad build quality. Sort of loud on high setting.

Honest reviews on Honeywell EnergySmart Thermawave Ceramic Heater, HZ-860

Only things I wish it has a 3-prong plug with GFCI safety built-in, better sensor, and air filter. Also, I am not sure how good it is as a heater: the air it blows out doesn't seem to be hot enough to heat up a 20x20 room, at least not quick enough. I guess three Envi Heaters of 475 watts or four Econo-Heater running simultaneously would do a better job than just one of this 1500 watt heater. We'll see.

UPDATE JANUARY 2013: Judging by some of the follow-up comments to my initial review, it appears DeLonghi finally has filters available (third-party, too) and has decided to support this fryer. They're not the first company to get ahead of themselves in a new product launch as appears was the case here. You should read the comments and pay particular attention to the dates they were written. New information always is good.

While Delonghi may have a good idea with the introduction of the D28313 Roto Deep Fryer, here are several things about which a potential buyer should be aware.

FIRST, many retailers are using descriptions of older model fryers in their advertising and descriptions of the D28313. For example, there is no included oil container in which to drain the used oil. The basket capacity is 2.2 lbs, not 1.5 lbs.

SECOND, you might want to know the cost and availability of filters when considering this model. Delonghi parts lists one filter, P/N 5312510071. The cost is $15.90 for one filter, which includes shipping and handling. The same Delonghi customer service department representative told me the filter may be used twice if frying fish. That means you must factor in $8 per fish dinner, plus you must order and have on hand filters sufficient for your use.

THIRD, there are no replacement filters available at any price. Delonghi doesn't have them and has no idea when they will. Filters for Series 5 and 8 fryers will not fit.

FOURTH, the owners manual (with the unit and online) says not to use the unit with clogged filters, but the manual makes no mention of using the unit without a filter. But then, one of the benefits of a closed fryer, namely, low odor, immediately is lost. The owners manual is so vague ("... if your unit has ..."), there's no telling whether or not use of the fryer without a filter would be hazardous.

BOTTOM LINE: Buy this fryer, use it two or a few times, and you've got a $100 paperweight. They're not the first company to get a product launch out of sequence, but at least until Delonghi decides they're going to support it, I'd stay away from this fryer.

Thank goodness for Amazon and their return policy.

I got this fryer for my husband for his birthday and it is wonderful. It is completely self-enclosed so there is no smell and you can actually use it in the house. I used to make him use his old fryer outside on the porch! It is easy to clean with the spout and uses very little oil compared to other fryers. Great buy and the best one I have ever seen.

I purchased this fryer 6 months ago. Previously I have owned two of the Delonghi Roto Fryer Model 895UX and have been supremely happy with them. My first lasted for at least 5 years, using it 4-5 days a week. The second unit was still working after 6 years of almost daily abuse, but I decided to treat myself to the newer model when my kitchen color scheme changed. I purchased the Delonghi Blk/Silver Model D28313UXBK six months ago, wrongly assuming that because it was more expensive, it would be an upgrade from the units had previously owned.

Bizarrely, this unit does not have an On/Off switch or an attachable cup for draining the oil, both of which came with the older model. The timer is inconveniently placed below a puffy metallic sticker which not only is a nuisance to clean, it is so annoyingly reflective that it glows much brighter than the actual power indicator light. The power cord is much shorter than on my older models, limiting its' placement to within 12 or so inches of an outlet. The weird magnetic connector that attaches the cord to the unit itself, disconnects much too easily if the cord is slightly stretched or moved. I have to be very careful lifting the fry basket out of the fryer. The mechanism that allows the basket to spin occasionally releases from the handle without warning sending more than one batch of French Fries to the floor. But the worst is the spring opener for the lid which is so strong that if you're not careful, can send the lid literally flying off. The new lid and hinge are far less substantial than the older units, obviously made of a cheaper plastic. The hinge assembly has already broken on my unit.

I really have a hard time understanding the decision making process that went on in the Board Room at Delonghi. Who thought it would be a good idea to take a well made, reliable product and "improve" it by removing convenient features, and using lesser quality materials. Did they think that by dressing it up in black and silver, they could slap a higher price on it and nobody would notice how poorly thought out the design was, not to mention the shoddy construction? I have a number of Delonghi products in my home, but this will definitely make me think twice about purchasing any more. I am not sure I will even try to replace this unit with the other model (which I LOVED!), for fear that the use of lower quality materials may now be across their entire product line.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi D28313UXBK Roto Deep Fryer, Black/Silver

I really wanted to like this product, but in the end found it to be pretty useless. We did our best to make it work and probably cooked in it a dozen times before determining it to be pretty much a waste of time.

The sales pitch behind this unit is that it uses less oil, because of its unique rotating fryer. True, you put less oil in the machine, but at the same time, you can fry less chicken in it. We found that with this system, the cook basket has extremely limited capacity. So yes, you use less oil, but you also cook less chicken in a batch. The end result is that in making buffalo wings, we could cook maybe seven or eight at a time, which means you spend a LONG time cooking a batch of wings. Limited oil capacity results is smaller frying batches.

The second major limitation of this unit is that the food sticks to the basket. When you are able to fry up a nice batch of chicken, the chicken is pretty much demolished when you take it out of the cook basket. Big chunks are left stuck to the basket. Remember from the point above that you have to make multiple batches, so between batches you have to scrape all the old chicken off the basket.

The third issue we had with the unit is that it is not particularly easy to clean. It is no worse than other fry units, but we did not find it noticeably easier, which was one of the selling points the manufacturer touted.

Another issue is that the unit does not maintain temperature when the food is put in. Because the unit has half the oil, the heat capacity of the oil bath is less, and when you put the food in, it REALLY lowers the temperature of the oil. Less oil means greater temperature drop when the food goes in, and that means it is harder to get crispy outside and done inside.

Finally, this is a relatively big unit. Most of us have limited storage space in the kitchen and have to pick and choose what gadgetry is worth storing in the kitchen. This unit is pretty big and takes up a lot of space, for what it does.

In the end, we got rid of the unit. The bathes are too small, the chicken sticks to the basket, it is hard to clean up, and it takes up lots of space.

For making wonderful fried foods at home, we have found the best solution to be a stove top pressure fryer. These fry big batches of chicken Quickly, they are easy to clean up, and can double as pressure cookers.
