Pastry Maker Oreshnitsa 24 PC Review

My wife was in love with this device and used it a lot. It lasted not even 2 months, and broke.

I sent email to the seller. She offered to "repair" it, instead of replacing it. With, of course, my shipping costs. It is my philosophy, right or wrong, not to repair items that break down that fast, as I feel, they will be replaced with same parts that broke, and will not last long, starting mad cycle of "send for repairs". I asked to have it replaced, but this request was ignored by seller.

We found that broken piece is disc temperature switch. With plethora of those available, this one has some weird one that is not sold. I had FOUR different disc switches ordered, only one works, the other broke just like original one. One that works, does not have enough Off-On difference to keep it hot and keep baking. I'll rig it with manual switch with thermal coupling, like you have in ovens. Just because wife likes making them and does not want to use old style non-electric ones.

Otherwise, for what it is, it's badly overpriced and unreliable. I do not recommend buying it to anyone.

Also, I spent some time and effort trying to fix it myself. Turns out to be, the thing that breaks is thermal switch hidden underneath the top cover. It can be easily accessed, when cover removed. I spent about $50 trying different switches, until I found that a $10 waffle maker from Walmart has exactly the right one for the Oreshnitsa. Was five minute job to switch them out, works fine for 2 months already, and I can always spend another ten bucks to buy another waffle maker for part.

I was very excited to purchase this equipment. However, from the first time I used it, I understood that its too expensive for its worth. As tries come out small and thin, not what I remember from childhood! It burns easily, no heat regulation. If you really want a taste of old good "Oreshki" than just but an old school press that you just put on the top of the stove.

Had this product running during the night, with the automatic temperature control on. Very quiet and heats the room well. The oscillation is nice and smooth. Works Pretty good, as of now.

I noticed the 1-star review about the blown fuse and hot wire. Maybe they should check the wiring in their house, because my fuse hasn't blown and like I mentioned, I had it running all night on high at 71 degrees.

I live in a mobile home, and this is a really good heater. I will definitely cut back on fuel costs! It is really quite, and has a bunch of different settings that are great.

The heater was super easy to put together and is able to keep my whole downstairs warm. Even when set to high it is surprisingly quiet.

Honest reviews on Lasko 5129 Oscillating Ceramic Pedestal Heater

I bought two of these to put in my kids' rooms at night. They have small rooms and I set the thermostat so that it turns itself on and off automatically. Be aware that when they are running they are hot to the touch. Now I can turn down the thermostat at night. My electricity bill has gone up, but my gas bill has gone down considerably and my kids stay warm at night. The best part is that now I don't have to sweat through the night!

I've had 3 of these heaters since early 2009. I've used them in a variety of settings continuous heating, temperature set, etc. After four years, I am a very happy customer!

Pro:

-Very efficient -heats a 10x10 feet room from 50F to 65F in 5 minutes

-Temperature setting -you can set a desired temperature and it will regulate itself around that temp

-Timer -you can set a timer for 1-7 hours in one-hour increments, so you don't have to wonder if you've turned it off when you leave the room

-Remote -it is a surprisingly important convenience, when I'm in bed I can start the heater a few minutes before I get up, and the room is nice and toasty. I hate getting out of bed into a cold room.

-Small footprint -the pedestal base is small, which makes an easy fit inside a closet during the summer (the bottom also disassembles easily if you really want to save on space)

-Safety -it shuts off if it is toppled over, and the front grill is not too hot (so if you or a child touch it, it won't burn the skin)

Cons:

-I suppose someone could make a comment about the appearance of the heater, but I usually don't care about the "beauty" of a product that does its job great

FYI:

-Sound level -this is not a silent heater. It sounds like a small fan, well because it has a fan inside.

Overall, great product that I'm very happy to recommend.

Review of Sunbeam Royal Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket

I have had electric blankets since I was a little kid (going on 40 years of Electric blanket use). They use to last 5-10 years. I remember having ones that I'd have year after year! In the last 10 years or so the time they last has gotten less and less. I've always bought Sunbeam blankets, and now, I am in search of a new brand! In the last 5 years I have bought a new blanket EVERY year! It wasn't so bad when I could find them on the clearance rack for $12. But, this last 2 years, that hasn't been the case. The cheapest one I can find is around $44. A blanket needs to last longer than ONE year for that amount of money! Not to mention the landfill waste all these blankets are adding to the environment!!!

This blanket didn't even make it a day! It wouldn't work at all. I tried everything I could think of. The only thing that seemed to work was covering the whole bed with a down blanket to "assist" the Sunbeam blanket in heating up! Only without the assistance, it simply did not warm all over... Near the plug it warm up, and that is about it.

EDIT: I wanted to add that I returned this in all the original packaging to Amazon 3 days after purchase since trying to get it to work wasn't happening. I got my refund! I think if everyone started to return these blankets if they conk out in the first month a message might get through to the Sunbeam Company. I'm off to purchase a Sealy Diamond Electric Blanket to try!

This is my first electric blanket that I have ever purchased. The unit heats up pretty fast. The feet and head areas seem to stay the warmest which I find very beneficial, others may not like this. The unit seems to cycle between on and off but this I assume is standard for electric heating elements. The only aspect of this unit that I do not like was that the material seems to fall apart. I sat on this blanket with a hoodie on and it looked like I had large bunches of lint all over me. For this reason I would suggest going with a more expensive blanket that has either microsuede or something along those lines. I have placed this under a blanket so that I do not get clumps of lint on me. Once I put sheets over the blanket I found this to be a very nice blanket.

Best Deals on Sunbeam Royal Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket

Sunbeam Royal Nights Twin Heated Blanket, Seashell

This blanket started to pill immediately. Within two nights, it looked ragged, as though it had been used for years, and I am forever picking up the resulting lint. As well, while the warming coils do a half-decent job, they are bulky and the heat does not seem to distribute evenly. I contacted the manufacturer, and though my message was acknowledged as received, I never got a response. I guess you get what you pay for, as the price was relatively low.

On the flip side, it does enable me to to lower my thermostat at night, decreasing my heating bills. One other positive is that the control is easy to use, silent, and offers 10 heat settings that are easy to change.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam Royal Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket

This electric blanket is working good so far. I like to get my bed warm before I lie down in the wintertime and I shut it off before I fall asleep. When I'm lying in bed reading it keeps me toasty.

I like this heated blanket because it does what I wanted it to do....make my bed warm. The only thing down fault to this blanket is it doesn't have a auto shut off as a safety feature. Otherwise works great!

I have used Honeywell thermostats for years. Recently mine was broken moving furniture. Replaced it with the common round Honeywell thermostat that was up there. The thermostat part worked fine, but the thermometer was off 6°. Customer support told me to return it for another. After 3 different ones, from different stores, I gave up. I wasn't impressed with Honeywell's quality anymore. As a last ditch effort, I purchased this Honeywell digital thermostat. So far so good. I had to spend twice the cash to get something to work accurate.

Best Deals on Honeywell Digital T8775A1009 Round Non-Programmable Heat-Only

I bought 3 thermostats for my home, and they all work very well. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Digital T8775A1009 Round Non-Programmable Heat-Only

The thermostat worked fine for about six or seven months, then the dial started becoming gradually more unresponsive. Now after ten months in service it takes about 20 turns of the dial to get the thermostat to "wake up" very frustrating. Worse, the thermostat has now begun to lose its on-temp setting after a short period of time. As a result, every night the on-temp resets to 52-degrees, so it gets very cold in the house (it's December as I'm writing this).

The thermostat was advertised with a 5-yr warranty, so naturally I recently contacted Honeywell support and asked for a replacement. The only response I have received after two weeks and several emails is that only a HVAC contractor can initiate a warranty claim. So it appears I have the choice of hiring a contractor for more than the item is worth, or just throwing the thing away and buying something else. Needless to say I am not happy with this situation and feel that Honeywell is dodging their warranty obligation. A google search turns up many similar complaints by other Honeywell customers: customerservicescoreboard dot com /Honeywell

Beware!

I buy one of these every year as they do not last too long. That said, the temperature control is very tight at 1 or 2 degrees at most. Quiet too. We had a White brand once and it clicked loudly every time it turned on or off. Pure junk.

I just wish that they would last longer.

I bought this item after a friend of mine showed me his Prestige 1.0 system. This one, the Prestige 2.0 HD model, offers support for more RedLink accessories and more stages of heat/cool I believe. At any rate, it wasn't too hard to install, I had to use an extra wire to provide power to the unit from the furnace, but other than that it was relatively easy to install. Programming it is fun albeit a little confusing if you aren't familiar with HVAC jargon, as I am not.

I also bought the outdoor wireless sensor to have it show real-world outdoor conditions. All in all a very cool unit I'm enjoying very much.

I picked up two Honeywell THX9321R5030 Prestige HD 2.0 Thermostat from Plumbing Planet and had them in hand within 3 days. Both units shipped quickly despite being provided a longer deliver time and were installed by our HVAC technician during the replacement of our furnance & AC unit. These are identical to the THX9421R5013 unit except the 5030 unit can be wired or do wireless to the zone panel. We actually have one 5030 wired and the other set up wireless with no issue from either in over a month. All three thermostats are also reading the same outside temperature gauage which is conveniently displayed with your indoor and set temperatures on the home screen. A great product and quick deliver by Plumbing Planet made the purchase all that much easier given the units are not cheap.

Update 2/3/13: All three units are still working great. The wife decided to have fun with the themes (font & background colors) by setting up unique themes for each holiday/season. The only issue I've seen is the outdoor wireles sensor for temperature appears to be off by about 2-4 degrees compared to other temperature senors we have. It's not a big deal and I'm sure there is likely a 1 degree error rating either way but it's something I noticed. One other thing we noticed is that the wired unit in the master bedroom clicks when it's engaged for heating or cooling while the wireless unit makes no noise of course. Again, not a big deal but we do hear it click on/off when sleeping which is normal for any wired in theromostat.

Outstanding thermostat. It replaces a 24-year old thermostat that was not working properly. It did require a professional for installation, as the wiring was not the same as pictured in the installation guide and an additional wire had to be connected at the ac/furnace unit.

Review of Lasko 5365 Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote Control

Lasko 5365 Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote Control
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

This could be a very good heater option for some people, if the features fit what you need.

It takes up relatively little floor space, and the pedestal design puts the heater up a little higher, if that suits your needs. (A regular tower heater might be fine for lots of people, though.)

It's 30 tall" and the base is a 12" circle. The top part is about 7.5" wide at the top (the widest part).

Pros:

High 1500W (5118 BTU) and low 900W (3070 BTU) settings. And two fan speeds to go with that the fans runs more slowly and quieter on low which is a feature that's missing on many heaters for some inexplicable reason.

Quiet for a heater with a fan, especially on the low setting. (But that can't be used with the auto thermostat setting, see below!)

Well built, and well packed.

The light weight and convenient handle, at the top of the back, make it easy to carry and move around.

The controls are well placed, easy to read, and make sense they do the things you'd think they should.

The LCD shows the room temperature and the thermostat setting, exactly no guessing on a dial with marks around it! Both seem very accurate it matches a digital thermometer I have in the room.

Cons:

The biggest one by far for me the auto setting (to maintain the temperature you set) only uses high heat. Low auto isn't an option.

No automatic shutoff if it tips over. Maybe the overheat protection would take care of it, and it doesn't really get that hot but I'd think they'd want to have that in a heater with this design.

The base looks a little big 12" across but I suppose it has to be to make the pedestal work.

There's no auto low setting which was the main reason I wanted this heater, to have something quiet that could maintain the temperature in a bedroom at night. That would also mean it would switch on and off fewer times, and draw less peak electric current. Big oversight on the manufacturer's part.

Though otherwise, it's about as quiet as fan heater could be, I imagine. If you need something quieter, look at something like the DeLonghi HHP1500 Mica Panel Radiator very quiet, but the heat circulates only by convection (hot air rising), which might not work for all situations.

This heater requires some assembly of the pedestal and base. Just tightening some screws, really, but it's a little cumbersome since the top piece can't rest anywhere given the shape. Just plan on it taking ten minutes or so.

The manufacturers website, laskoproducts.com, has more info and you can download the owners' manuals in pdf form.

There are multiple model number versions of this heater 5355, 5365, and 5350 and as far as I can tell they vary only in the colors and what stores sell them. You can read lots more comments on a similar version of this heater at the HomeDepot website.

This heater works great! Now I have to give a little disclaimer: I don't have much experience with many different brands or types of space heaters. I do know however that this space heater kept a 20'x25' room at 85 degrees no problem. I should mention that one of the walls in this room is almost entirely windows (which lose heat quickly).

Pros:

-Comes with remote

-Is quiet (It sounds like a fan on a low setting)

-Heats well

-Space efficient (takes up little room)

-Very lightweight with handle (easy transport)

-Won't start a fire! (I touched the face of it and held my hand to it on high setting, it is warm but not painfully hot. The entire rest of the unit stays so cool it is amazing!)

Cons:

-Control Panel is only visible from almost directly in front (I thought there was something wrong at first because I couldn't make out anything on it)

-Timer Function: You may only set the timer to go for a certain length of time. I was under the impression you could set the heater to START after a certain time (e.g., to warm up the room before you get home)

Other than that I found that you have to keep it on oscillating to really keep the room warm, otherwise it only heats the area in front of it and continually switches to low power, never getting the entire room to the desired temperature. I went through a ton of these reviews on different heaters and one concern I saw in a bunch of them was that the power cord might not hold up (i.e. cause electrical fire). I got the heater for my girlfriend so I wanted to be sure this wouldn't be a problemI ran it for over 14 hours straight on the high setting and the cord wasn't even warm, so that put my fears to rest.

I've only owned this thing for about a month so I'll give a durability assessment later. If I don't change my review you can be sure that it hasn't broken downI will absolutely complain if this thing malfunctions within the next two years.

Update:

So she left it at her parents place over the weekend, and after setting it up they decided they wanted one for themselves. Just another testament to how well it works!

Best Deals on Lasko 5365 Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote Control

We try to reduce our heating bills by keeping upstairs doors closed, setting the furnace thermostat down and using space heaters for the room we are in. Last year I tried several space heaters. All but 2 stopped working. This year I bought the LASKO heater. After a month of using it I ordered another. We use them constantly. What we love about it: the base and shape of it, extremely quiet, heats a small room well, the timer feature and remote are very nice. Dislike: haven't found anything yet. If these continue working all winter, I will be very pleased. So far we have ran them to death and had no problems with them.

12/07/09 Update on this heater. I bought these two space heaters over a year ago. I covered them during the summer to prevent dust and the one other thing we don't do is use the oscillating feature. From trial and error with other floor heaters, that seems to wear them out quicker. Both these units are now into heavy use over the last month for their second winter. We have had no issues. I am about to buy 3 more because we fight over which rooms get these. My favorite things about these heaters are: (1) they are very quiet, (2) the timer feature, (3) physically do not seem to get hot like other heaters, (4) pedestal design gets the heat where you want it, (5) they work they heat a good sized bedroom. We've had no problems with either unit.

Honest reviews on Lasko 5365 Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote Control

I love this heater.

It really does a good job keeping the bedroom warm. Sometimes I'll wake up and it'll be too hot that I have to turn it off... did I tell you that it comes with a remote control????

It's a great thing to have by the night table especially when you wake up in the middle of the night and don't feel like getting out of bed to shut it off.

I also love the fact that you can adjust the temperature to what you want and also how many hours you want it on for.

It's a excellent heater to have It's especially great for those of you who have Landlords that are too cheap to give you heat.

I had been searching online for a heater for months. I looked at every review. I got one at target for $50 and had it for about 1 month. The air started coming out cold once the heater felt the room was warm enough! Finally I started to borrow my roommates heater this one. It was awesome. Heats a room really fast. You can feel the heat right away. The cord gets a little warm when it's on too long but it turns off by itself if it gets too warm so no worries there. My roommate has had hers for about 3 years so I'm confident mine will last a long time.

Buy this! You'll be glad you did.

Bought this heater back in Dec. (from another store) to heat up a fairly large living room. The unit was a little smaller than I thought in would be once I took it out of the box, but I still thought it might do the job. I like the basic design of the unit with the curve blower at the top and it does blow a fair amount of hot air. However, I didn't feel that the air that was blowing out of it was all that hot. I have a smaller "personal" unit that seems a lot hotter. So, unfortunetly it didn't really heat the room up. I could only get the room temp to increase by 2-4 degrees no matter how long the unit was on for. It worked better as a personal heater in the room, but that's not what I bought it for. I do feel that this unit would work better in a smaller room like a bedroom, especially when you close the room up. You could have a nice toasty room in about an hour. The fan isn't to loud but it might be a little more noticable in a smaller room.

Bottom line, it's a great unit but it didn't really meet my needs in this case. Although it didn't really work for me, I think it would work great in a smaller enclosed area. I ended up returning the unit and then purchased the Optimus H-5300. Although this is a Quartz heater with no fan, it's a bigger unit and is by far, hotter. It takes a little longer to heat up the room (not much), but I can increase the room temp by 4-8 degrees.

I brought this heater home, plugged it in, and it ran on the high setting for about 5 minutes, constantly switching between low and high. Then, it shut off, and it would not turn back on. I unplugged it and let it cool for an hour or so, and ran it on the low setting this time. It stayed on, but was constantly switching on and off, and did not give off enough heat to heat a bathroom, much less a large room. I returned the heater and got another just like it. This one ran slightly better, but again shut off after 5-10 minutes and would not power back up. This thing is of no value. You'd have more success heating a room with your computer.

Best Deals on Honeywell EnergySmart Thermawave Ceramic Heater, HZ-860

This heater will heat up a room in a fair amount of time and keep it warm even if you have it on the lowest setting. This heater does not get hot or anything if you use it although the cord may get hot after a while.

I got this heater half price for $35 at Target a few days ago and yesterday it broke on me. I only used it for a brief amount of time each day just to heat up the room for approximately 3 days and it broke. The power indicator would light up but the control panel would not work no matter how I pushed it. It would occasionally come on and off flickering on and off. Basically I think the control panel area is defective so I will be bringing it back and getting a better model.

Overall: Good price, nice heat, bad build quality. Sort of loud on high setting.

Honest reviews on Honeywell EnergySmart Thermawave Ceramic Heater, HZ-860

Only things I wish it has a 3-prong plug with GFCI safety built-in, better sensor, and air filter. Also, I am not sure how good it is as a heater: the air it blows out doesn't seem to be hot enough to heat up a 20x20 room, at least not quick enough. I guess three Envi Heaters of 475 watts or four Econo-Heater running simultaneously would do a better job than just one of this 1500 watt heater. We'll see.

I absolutely love this fireplace! It is solid and made of good materials. The fireplace unit works really well. It gives off economical heat with the atmosphere I wanted. The heat, flame, logs, and timer are all adjustable by the unit or by the remote, which is very convenient. Putting it together was fairly easy...altho, I did ask my son to come and help when I had trouble getting the screw cabs to lock. All the pieces did fit easily however. I think it's better to have 2 people working on it, not just one. I highly recommend this unit.
