This Infrared Heater works very well in my 1300 sq ft. home. So far it has gotten down to the mid's 30's and I can heat my whole house with this unit and keep it around 74 degrees even the back bedrooms! I don't even use my new heat pump anymore but I still keep it set to 69 degrees. Another reason why this works so well in my home is because 7 months ago I had insulation blown in my attic and 2 years ago I had new windows put in. The insulation made a huge difference in saving money and holding heat longer in the house. I have all tile floors throughout my home. By having tile floors it will make your home colder so by having carpet this unit would work even better. When I put the unit in my living room and turn it on, it only takes about 5-6 minutes (during the day/ set on high) for it to raise the temp by 1 degree. The unit cycles on and off correctly even at night. For me, there is usally a 1 degree difference between the temp reading on my heat pump (thermostate placed in hallway) compared to the infrared heater placed in my living room. I am more than pleased about this unit. I was amazed how small the infrared heater was but yet it heated up a lot of living space.

This infrared heater will heat up to 1500 sq ft. easy as long as you have good insulation in your home. The most compliants that I have heard about this unit is that it will not heat a garage. Duh! Just about all garages doesn't have or very little insulation. So if your home has poor insulation then don't expect much from this unit or any other unit.

I actually bought mine from TigerDirect because the price was $159-179.99 but TD has been selling them like crazy and has been sold out a lot too. I'm happy that I was able to get one before December month started. My family is also looking to buy a infrared heater and I am going to recommend this one to them. Mine works so well that I am thinking about buy another one so that I can control the heat better.

This Infrared Heater needs 15amps to power it. I can plug it into my living room outlet and everything is fine but I plugged the unit into my hallway outlet which it connected to 2 of my bedrooms and the lights dimmed. 1 of those rooms I have my gaming PC/ 2 LCD monitors with my LCD TV, Surround Sound Theater, and PS3 all running the same time. So if your lights dimms then change the unit to a different outlet. Do Not continually run the Infrared Heater off that outlet because you are pulling too many amps and the electrical wiring is heating up and if your breaker doesn't trip then it can catch fire and burn your house down. Run the unit first during the day to make sure everything is fine before you run it at night while you are asleep. This Infrared Heater is very safe to use but you still have to use some common sense with it.

Cheap Sunbeam Channeled Microplush Heated Electric Blanket Queen Dusty

I have used many heated blankets and heated pads, this by far is the softest, nicest one yet. Most of the lower cost ones are somewhat on the stiff side but this one is soft and smooth as a regular lite blanket. I place this blanket between the top comforter and the flat sheet. My only disappointment is there are several models of this same blanket but with different controllers. What actual controller you receive tells you the features, but unfortunately the product descriptions all show the same controller in the photo, which is the one I received. The Sunbeam website as well as the directions included tells you to pick which controller you have, then the chart tells you if you have the 10-hour cutoff, which I had, the "preheat feature", which I did not, etc. As I type this I see the next review before this one says he has the preheat feature. I saw this same blanket at a Fred Meyers in Seattle with the digital controller that was nicer with the preheat for the same cost for mine. Only other disappointment, as with all blankets and pads, is the stiff uncooperative wiring that has the controller constantly falling off the nightstand. We finally started leaving the controllers on the floor. Overall, the nicest actual blanket itself I have ever had and I would still certainly suggest it.

This absolutely meets our needs. Very soft and lush feeling. Warms up quickly and holds a nice temp at low settings. Only criticism is that it tends to want to 'slide' down off the end of the bed. But if you have a footboard it probably would not happen. As with all electric blankets the controls never want to sit on the night stands so they are facing the bed!

I was disappointed that this model doesn't have the "preheat" function. I was also disappointed that it wasn't as "plush" as the photo would lead one to believe. It does heat the bed quite well. All things considered, it is adequate. That is, it does the job. I neither Not recommend nor do I recommend--you decide!

I love Lasko heaters, my hubby had a 29" pedestal heater that lasted roughly 5 years before acting up, so once it decided to die on us I searched and found this one on Amazon.

We had looked in the store and actually bought a Delonghi because he didn't want to have to wait until we could get this one in the mail, but it sucked! It didn't show the current room temperature like the Lasko, only the set temperature so you couldn't tell what the actual room temperature was. It kept turning on and off as if it was trying to maintain that exact temperature instead of turning on 1 degree below the set temperature, then back off at 2 degrees above like this Lasko. And the plastic at the base was grinding and popping when I tried to use it in oscillation mode, which was really annoying.

So it went back and I ordered this one, and am I ever glad we did, I love it! It arrived slightly damaged, but that could have been a manufacturing error as the box was in perfect condition, one of the side panels was pushed in making it look funny, but I carefully fixed that problem even though it didn't affect it's operation any, just couldn't stand looking at it the way it looked. Now it looks and works perfect, we couldn't be happier! And I love the added feature they've started using, it turns on low every 10 minutes for about 10 seconds to circulate the air and recheck the air temperature, instead of relying on the stagnant air temperature which can give a false reading like the old Lasko pedestal heater we had. Don't get me wrong, I loved that one too, but this one is even better! I highly recommend this heater to anyone who's looking for a way to help save on electricity and just warm the room you're in.

I actaully have the model 5586 which looks exactly like this but the buttons are different. Bought for about the same price $65-67 at a harddware store.

It's great for a small (10ftx10ft) unheated room, but doesn't do much for a large converted attic room with no heating & almost no insulation (which is fine, the product clearly says it is intendend as SUPPLEMENTAL heat, not as your only source).

I like the remote control & that I can have it stationary blowing directly on me or moving to circulate the air. I also like that I can set it to click on when tempature drops below a certain temperature. I like that it shows me the temperature. Those features were (to me) worth spending a little more than the cheaper heaters. I've had it for 3 months and it has made a big difference for cold No. CA nights/early mornings (though our electric bill did go pretty high so I'm not sure we saved $ by running the gas/central heating less).

I find it quiet enough to sleep through, but my boyfriend claims that even on the low setting the noise of the air venting bothers him. But he's gotten used to it & can usually sleep through it now.

Other reviews of Lasko heaters had complained their cords got too hot. My cord gets warm, but not hot. I am not concerned by this.

In my opinion, the only flaw is that EVERY TIME you turn it on/off or adjust ANY setting (even to go up or down a few degrees), a fairly loud beep is emitted.

I called their customer service # and there is no way to turn this off.

This means I can not make any adjustment at night or even turn it on for a little while while my boyfriend is sleeping. This is a serious drawback to me, I'd give this product 5 stars if it wasn't for this.

The fan is not loud, but I wouldn't say it is quiet either. The annoying thing is that there is no option to leave the fan on continuously, so it cycles on and off with the heater. The problem with this is that you don't have a constant white noise to aid sleeping, but something that could make sleeping not so restful--or worse yet--wake you up. Also using the remote to change any settings creates a loud beep that your sleeping partner might not be so happy about.

I did notice that a smallish room heated up very fast. I'm guessing the large size helps with that.

The remote is sorta cheap, but does the job--with a lot of beeps.

I would say it is a good value at the price I paid: $49.

Warms up a 30 degrees, 250 something square meter room in few minutes. Thermostat comes in handy. I love this. Also the front grilldoes not get hot. Unlike the smaller lasko model which burned my child's leg by accident. Great product. I hope it's durable enough like the smaller lasko heater.

This works better than expected. Some people on Amazon as well as a home brewing forum noted an issue with most analog temperature controllers that there is some wiggle room on the temp. This has a large dial so it is easy to set the exact temp (to the degree). With the reviews and concerns in the minds of other reviewers, I tested the unit to see how much of this so-called "wiggle-room" it had. Plugged the freezer into this temp controller, plugged the temp controller into the wall. Set the dial to 40*F. Freezer turned on, and right when the freezer's thermometer hit 40*F, the temp controller turned off the power. When the temp controller turned the power back on, the freezer thermometer said 41*F. IMO, this product has no wiggle room and is darn accurate.

One note on the use of temperature controllers. This product works exactly as it is supposed to. My freezer has a built-in compressor cool-down to ensure long-lasting useability. It will take anywhere from 2 to 4 degrees for the compressor to actually turn back on after the power is turned back on by the temp controller. This is not an issue with this product, but rather the freezer dictates this. I have now set the temp on the controller to 2 degrees lower than I want it at so that when it warms up, it doesn't typically pass the desired temp.

Converted a freezer into a keg fridge. This item keeps the kegs at a fairly constant tempature with very little variance, even with the 2x4 wooden collar installed on the freezer. Much cheaper than purchasing a kegerator. Great item for the homebrewer.

As a homebrewer, I needed a temperature controller to make sure my lagering fridge would remain at a constant temperature. This thing has a nice length of wire on the probe and causes no issues with the seal around the door. Being analog, it does have a little bit of wiggle room (+/2 or 3 degrees), but absolute temperature control wasn't my concern since yeast is a living creature and can handle a range of temps. If you've got a fancy fridge, I recommend getting a digital controller, though. The analog model will cut the power to the fridge right in the middle of a compressor cycle, and that's a good way to burn out your compressor over time. The digital ones only cut the power when the compressor is off, saving the life of your fridge. As long as you know what you're getting, though, this temp controller works well!

As I installed 2 units on my boat an when it gets to the mid 80's the units shut down for protection I am sure. I have tried to use insulated blinds to cut down the direct sun and may try another idea or 2 to make them finish the season. I think this environment is to harsh for this type of air conditioner but have other uses at the main house. Other than that when the temps are lower they work very well. I am hopeful tech service may offer a idea to try

Don't unpack this piece of junk; you will never be able to repackage it for return. NOT designed for slider windows--the spats will NOT hold air exhaust hose. Ill conceived; poorly built; and badly planned and tested.

Cheap TSM Products Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator with 10 Stainless

In my opinion, this is the best dehydrator on the market. I have one of the largest raw food websites on the internet, and two published books on raw food recipes. I am constantly using my D10 dehydrator as I have found that nothing on the market even comes close to how well this dehydrator works. And to top it off, it is made from stainless steel, not plastic, and it is quiet! I have never had a failure with this dehydrator and find it easy to dial in the temps to dehydrate with. The addition of the mesh screens and the non-stick sheets make it perfect for everything that I dehydrate.

I have friends who have companies that produce products and the TSM is the only dehydrator they will use. It is the one that I always recommend.

We decided to get the 10 tray dehydrator because we're drying large lots of fruits and vegetables -enough for 2-3 weeks at a time.

This dehydrator worked better than expected right out of the box. Our first batch of dried fruit was wonderful. Much better than store bought. Be sure to get a thermometer to track the temperature if you don't already have one.

The stainless steel is great: We clean the shelves easily in the dishwasher, and I don't have to worry about plastic leaching chemicals on our food.

Well worth the cost.

As a small sideline of my smoked salmon business, I've been making smoked salmon jerky & Indian candy for many years, now, using a locally built dehydrator. I wanted to shift to an all stainless steel version, and, after lots of research and indecision, settled on the 10 tray TSM dehydrator. It's a gem. It's shortened the time to jerky stage by several hours and requires much less tray turning than my previous dehydrator and a real bonus is a snap to clean up. It's also fairly quiet certainly much quieter than my previous dehydrator.

Now it's two years later (August 2013), and I still think it's a gem. However, it wouldn't start early this year. The seller recommended replacing all of the circuitry, but I had done a continuity check with my electrical metre (I'm Canadian we spell this word in the French fashion). As a result, I knew that the problem was the on-off switch, which wasn't available from the seller. So I went to Amazon to find a replacement I found the same switch (Amico red light boat rocker switch) for less than $4 (compared to the about $200 to replace the complete circuitry). When I spoke, again, to the tech at the selling company, he was surprised but I'm not. This switch is not particularly robust (I bought two, so that the next time I won't have any down time). Still, despite this, my experience with this dehydrator would lead me to buying it again. For the price, it's a fantastic bargain.

Amazon advertises this item as being with stainless steel shelves. Instead, I received model #32608 (it's clearly written on the back of the unit), which is the chrome shelves model (which is actually cheaper). Good thing I checked before starting to use it. The reason why I chose this dehydrator was because of the stainless steel shelves. This looks like fraud to me. They are not sending you what they are advertising!!!

Cheap Haier CPN10XCJ 10000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

Guess I'll go in order of what was important to me when buying my first portable A/C unit.

Cooling: My residence has two large picture windows facing east and I'm on the top floor of the building. It gets blazing hot about 30 days a year here in San Francisco, so my place gets like an oven. So good cooling was critical. (If you are curious, without A/C on the hot days it would get a stifling 80 to 85 degrees in my rooms! Alas, that's the price I pay for having an otherwise full water view of the San Francisco bay, Bay Bridge and east bay foothills. The 15' x 10' windows provide a great view, but they act like magnifying glasses (even with blinds that block the heat, and a fully insulated ceiling). The only benefit of the heat in my place, as the old saying goes, "it is a dry heat." I am thankful for that because I HATE humidity.

I have always used window A/C units, about 5000 to 8000 BTU each, one in the living room, one in the bedroom. (My latest units were small 7000 BTU Panasonics. They work great and I simply figured it was time to replace them, being that they are about 2004 units.) Wanting to update I decided to get a portable unit, first for the bedroom, to see how it would perform.

This Haier unit gets the bedroom ice cold and if I leave the BR door open it cools the next room somewhat. How cool is that? Very. (Note: the BR is about 200 SF.)

Dependability: My Haier unit has been left on 24 hours, without incident. And I have had it for 18 months. I last used it about 8 months ago. When it got hot here a couple days ago I plugged it in, it fired right up and again ran 18 hours without incident. I was the coolest cat in town, literally and figuratively.

Set It and Forget It: I like the controls. I set it to the desired temp, the thermostat works perfect, cycling the cooling on and off according to the temp setting.

Features: While mainly concerned about cooling performance, I did want a unit with a remote, temp settings, thermostat (rather than a high, med, low switch), digital display, and fan speeds. This Haier comes with all these features.

Noise: While I did not want a unit that was super noisy, noise emission was not a critical factor. But I was pleasantly surprised that this Haier unit can operate quiet. Yeah, when the fan is set to full blast it is noisy, but hey, it is an A/C unit. If it is making lots of noise, that's because you are running it full blast. As an indication of noise level, if I have it running full blast and I'm in the next room, I don't notice it. I have to walk into the BR to see if it is on.

Keep in mind, however, an added benefit of the noise is that it acts as a white noise machine. You get used to the sound and it pleasantly drowns out City noise, which here in San Francisco there's a lot of. So when you set it on at night, it is like taking an Ambien. It lulls you to sleep. (It is kind of the same effect as falling asleep when on a jet, or on a train. The noise emissions of those travel modes can put you to sleep, so much so that my noise making machine has "train mode" where it sounds like you are in a train sleeping car., with the hum of the engines and clacking of the wheels on the rails.)

Value: I bought my unit on sale for about $270. What a great deal. I wish I had bought two of these units. Oh well, but I will buy another Haier unit because the Company has proven itself.

Portability: The unit is on wheels and actually quite easy to move around. While the footprint is somewhat large, hey, it is an air conditioner not a stereo. I was not expecting this to be the size of a microwave. In any event, it does roll around with little effort, although once you have this placed where you want (and where the tubing can vent hot air outside through a window) you are not going to be moving it much.

Bonus Tip: I am going to experiment with another one of these and run the exhaust hose up the stove hood. That's because I have a computer area next to the kitchen and there's no window nearby, so when trying to figure out a solution I looked at the kitchen hood. I can remove the fan and run the A/C exhaust tube into the circular fan opening that runs to the roof of the building. Yeah it won't look pretty, but I'd rather feel cool than look it.

Instructions: This was easy to unpack and all I made sure to do was remove all the tape and foam around the unit. So I did have to read the instructions to make sure I did not miss anything. Otherwise, you plug it in and turn it on. It is that simple. Matter of fact I turned it on without the exhaust tube connected to a window. The exhaust air was broiling hot. Kind of silly, one end was blowing ice cold air, the other end blowing air hot enough to cook with. But I wanted to try it out because that's what guys do.

Bragging Rights: I enjoyed calling my friends who were suffering in the heat, saying "Wow is it cold today or what. Hold on, I have to put on a coat. Oh wait, that's my A/C unit, never mind." (I then heard the phone click. How rude for them to hang up on me. Was it something I said?)

Bonus Tip: If your place is going to get hot later in the day, turn on your A/C BEFORE it gets hot. These A/C units work a lot better if they don't have to cool down an 80 degree room. I'm a lot more comfortable if I don't wait to turn on the Haier until AFTER it feels like an Easy Bake oven in my place.

Bonus Tip: To give this A/C unit a little extra circulation (to where it blows air into the next room, not a lot, but some) I place a little portable fan on the table next to this unit. I then run the fan on high. This adds about 1/3 more power to blow and circulate the cool air around.

We have crank-out windows, and never looked at air conditioners much, we never really needed one. After reading many reviews we decided to try this air conditioner for those few nights the heat and humidity made it hard to sleep. It is exactly as represented...cools well and was easy to install. Even if we don't use it alot, the price made it affordable.

I bought this portable air conditioner for my apartment after temperatures in my area reached 100+ degrees because my fan just wasnt cutting it and wow what a wonderful little unit. It is a medium sized air conditioner, kind of heavy but has wheels to move around, comes with the exhaust and a kit to hook it up to a window which can adjust to most window sizes for both horizontally and verticall. It's pretty quiet compared to most air conditioners and even though my room is a decent size with high ceilings it'll make the whole room cool within minutes. It has an adjustable thermostat and also has heating and dehumidifying capabilities and works as a fan also if you dont need the cooling. Great GREAT product, if you're in the market for a portable air conditioner, this is THE ONE.

I purchased this 10,000 btu unit after reading over 50 reviews on Amazon and Walmart. I could not go bigger as this unit is 115 volt and plugs into a normal electric outlet while the 12,000 btu unit requires a 20 amp dedicated fuse and outlet. Haier states the unit is for a small room, i.e. 300 sq. ft. area max.

I believe the manufacturer is reading reviews, too. My 2012 version has an unlighted circuit-breaker plug and the bright blue front panel turns itself off after a few seconds. (The light from the LED's bothered people who installed the unit in the bedroom.

One sets the thermostat to the desired temperature and picks the fan speed. There is also a timer function. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are three fan speeds and the unit continues to run whether the compressor is working or not. Since it is dehumidifying when the compressor isn't on, I don't mind the continual fan.

The remote has large buttons and the same functions as the unit.

I would like to mention that the exhaust pipe heats up fairly significantly when it is cooling. So, cold air is coming out the front but the exhaust vent pipe is reducing efficiency. I may insulate the vent piping on principle.

Also, there is a knob on the back that says "closed/open" that does not appear in the instruction manual. I have not tried to go to the manufacturer's site to read up-to-date specifications.

The hot water heater is pretty good quality, the thermostat and electronics is got to be the cheapest and poorest quality I've ever seen. It's plastic parts that snap into place. After 6 months the on/off switched melted. I went to Home Depot and replaced with a large switch. The instalation is straight foward. I would recommend this even with the poor electronic parts because of the great price and quality solar hot water tank.
