Not worth the money... I threw mine away in less a year! It worked well from the beginning, then the interior of the fryer started discoloring after a while, and it was hard to clean. The temperature read out is much lower then the dial indicator. I had to use the digital thermometer whenever I used the fryer. I got so sick of it, then just threw it away and got the traditional Logic cast iron skillet. It works much better except the splashing part.

We've had the first one for a month, and have just ordered a second. So far, it has worked exceptionally well. Bought the first one after using an electric oil-filled radiator-type heater for a few years. They seem generally to work well, and they feel safer to me than standard space heaters that get red hot and seem poised to set fire to anything close. Our cats like to lounge close to these things, so safety is always an important consideration. We live in NYC and have steam radiator heat that seems to switch on and off randomly, so sometimes it gets seriously chilly in our apartment. One of these little HG-450 units does the trick for the bedroom, keeping things nice and warm. I've just ordered a second unit for the second bedroom, which I use as an office. Hopefully they won't explode right after I've submitted a glowing review... If not, though, these things are excellent.

When I saw this heater I wondered why it costs this much when there are other oil-filled heaters that cost $30-40 less. I zoomed in on the product shot and noticed there are more vents on the main fin where the control panel is. If more vents means more heat, then it'll be worth it. So I took a gamble and ordered one.

The heater would be used in the living room which is an open area with a 9" high ceiling. The heating system in the house is forced air with vents in the ceiling, and since warm air rises, warming the room below to a decent temperature is practically impossible and financially prohibitive, as I use electric heat. To add insult to injury, forced air heating blows out air that creates a cold wind when it comes on, so it's not only a huge waste of money, it's also very crude and just ridiculous.

A month ago I decided to heat the room solely with space heaters. I have an electric fireplace with a heater on the lowest setting, a baseboard heater I bought a week before (Fahrenheat Baseboard Heater #FBE15002), and an old oil-filled heater. It didn't get warm and barely raised the temperature and I was quite disappointed -until I got this heater. What a world of difference! The place becomes so toasty and temps keep rising, I even have to lower it! With this 3-heater combination, residual heat flows into the rest of the downstairs area, which includes kitchen, dining room, foyer, even the powder room.

There is one downside to this heater. The timer is not really programmable and limited to only 2, 4 and 8 hours, and when set on timer, it comes on at the highest setting. But the amount of heat it gives out well makes up for this slight inconvenience.

I highly recommend this heater and I'm getting another one for my bedroom, which is a big room and my older oil-filled heaters can't handle it.

Having burned out, drenched, accidentally kinked, and destroyed enough Polder probes to fill an oven, I finally threw in the towel and went elsewhere for a digital probe thermometer. CDN's Proaccurate may finally be the end of my search for a worthy successor.

Digital probe thermometers are a godsend for cooks who like to set it and forget it when cooking. You want that steak done to exactly 145 degrees? The probe thermometer will tell you. Just stick it in the meat, set the finished temp, and let the beep tell you when it's exactly medium rare. When it works, this kind of thermometer is indispensable.

Therein lies the rub, though. "When it works...." Most of the digital probe thermometers on the market suffer from the same chink in the armor--their probes are flimsy. Not only are the wires inside the probe itself thin when compared with the braided metal housing that holds them, but they can't take the heat, either. Most probes top out at a little over 380 degrees. You run the risk of burning it out when checking oil temperatures, something every probe should be able to do. And if your oven cycles its heat on and off, you could have it set for 350 but it may vary between 300 and 400 while cooking for twenty minutes or more. The result is a cooked probe.

But not with the CDN Proaccurate. The probe cord itself is significantly thicker (fifty percent or more, from my guess) and the temperature tops out almost a hundred degrees higher than the other guys at 482. Plus, unlike the other guys, this unit carries a full five year warranty--including the probe. You can't find that in any other digital probe thermometer I've seen.

Overall, as a new user my review is positive. Time will tell concerning ruggedness, but I am hopeful given the clear difference in probes between the CDN and other units out there. This CDN model is almost worthy of five stars, but the lack of seconds on the timer is a bad design decision from my point of view. I know from experience with other units that watching those seconds roll by gave me some assurance from a distance that the timer was running.

So for all you Polder and Taylor users who are exasperated with probe failures on your thermometers, this CDN may be what you've been looking for.

I am a big fan of probe thermometers, and I have owned and ruined several of them; each a different brand. The CDN is the most accurate and can withstand high heat best on the market in this price range. I have owned this thermometer for over a year now, and in this time it has:

1. Been rained on at least 5 times.

2. Dropped in our pool.

3. Been hidden in our sandbox.

4. Been dropped on hot coals and backing partially melted.

Each time this thermometer has miraculously come back to life and worked perfectly! The original battery is still going.

If I had to purchase a new one, it would be this thermometer!

After much research into these devices, I decided to purchase the CDN brand for my husband as a gift. I chose this brand since it had a higher temperature range than that of the other brands available. This one goes up to 482degrees. So far he seems to love this thermometer. It seems very accurate in reading the internal temp of the meats. He loves that it allows him to program what type of meat and for beef the taste(rare,m.rare,med,well). The cable connecting the device to the probe seems to be pretty strong--braided wire. I have seen other devices by other brands that the cables "burn out". This was one of the deciding factors in purchasing the CDN brand. My husband loves the magnetic feature that allows him to stick it to the side of the oven! I am also excited to see the thermometer comes with a clip for candy making and frying. I havent had a chance to use it for this purpose yet, but it makes the device much more versatile & useful. The temperature display is quite large and easy to read...so it will work good for someone who cant read small print. I would actually give this product 4 &1/2 stars. The only reasons I would deduct half a star are: 1)the casing is plastic (cannot use on BBQ)and 2)the timer beeper isnt that loud (you cant hear it if upstairs or more than a room away, so you need to stay in earshot to hear the timer go off). All in all its a great product. I would recommend it. Buy it and you will never have dried out or undercooked meat again. Its well worth it! The chef in your life will thank you!

The thermometer looks really good at first. Great range for candy making (unlike one of the more inexpensive models that Amazon sells) and reasonable wire length. For the past two months its been great. Then it suddenly gave poor measurements (based on salt free ice water, fully equilibrated, and salt free boiling water). It is approx 25 degrees below what it should read. So I'm sending it back. The unit comes with a 5 year warranty. We'll see what type of response I get.

Update: ended up getting a warranty replacement. This too worked for a while and then failed. Stay away

I found myself doing quite a bit of research before buying a digital probe thermometer... it seems that each brand and model has it's 'gotchas,' so unless you spend several hundred bucks on a laboratory grade thermometer, you're gonna have to deal with one or more disadvantages... unreliable probes, inaccurate readings, inconvenient menus, inadequate range, flimsy construction, etc. The questions I ended up asking myself were, what are the most desirable qualities, and what are the disadvantages I could live with?

First and foremost, I wanted one that was reliable. Unfortunately, every single model contained reviews from folks whose thermometers didn't make it a month let alone a year. So the next step was to look at the frequency of problems, and perhaps more important, the warranty. CDN was the only one with a five year warranty (one that they seem to cheerfully honor, judging by feedback), so that went a very long way toward making my decision.

Next was temperature range... most digital probe thermometers peak out at under 392 degrees. I didn't feel that was enough so there was another point in favor of the CDN, which is one of the very few that tops out at 482 degrees.

Finally, it came with a metal clip for use on the rim of saucepans, stockpots and so forth... why this cheap but useful little accessory is an optional extra purchase with many other models is a testament to the idiocy and greed of companies who want to get the product out there for the cheapest possible price and then hit you up later for things they should have provided in the first place.

Now that I've lived with the CDN Proaccurate a month or so, I have to say I'm pleased. Tested against two other thermometers the CDN seems accurate, and though it's response seems a bit slow, it's not really meant for instant readings anyway. Other minor gripes? Well, it's not very intuitive when it comes to setting some of the functions... but once you use it a few times you get used to that. Probably my major disappointment is that the timer counts only hours and minutes, no seconds... this coupled with the very small blinking indicator means that it's difficult to tell when it's running. As I said, these are minor gripes... overall I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.

This is a perfect heater for guest rooms, bedrooms, and office type spaces. It has preset temperature settings starting from 60 up to 80 degrees fahrenheit in increments of 5, and automatically turns off and on when the setting has been reached or falls below respectively. Granted, the immediate temperature around the heater may not coincide with the room as a whole, but the differences are small. The heater also has two manual settings (High heat 1500 watts / Low heat 1000 watts) that will provide continuous nonstop heat until the user chooses change the setting. These two settings will heat a room to a cozy 85 degrees.

One of the key advantages of this heater over other fan-forced heaters is it's quiet factor. I am able to sleep and study with this heater on 24/7 (I keep it on High most of the time). It does generate minor sound due to the heated air being forced by the fan, but it is soothing, and in fact serves as a nice replacement for external sounds coming from outside the room being heated (for example T.V's, dog barking at night, etc.). There is no noticeable mechanical noise assosciated with its operation. It also has an elegant and compact design.

For anyone concerned, it does not support a seperate 'fan only' button, only heating options. It does not oscillate, does not have a remote control, and does not have a 'tip-over' safety shutoff feature (it has a wide base though).

I own two of these heaters, and I had to return one of original heaters due to a malfunction. But these problems usually crop up within the first 2 weeks of operating any heater, so once you pass the break-in period, the product should work beyond its warranty.

Living in MN our below gound family room can get pretty chilly. We are very pleased at how well this heater warms the room and how quiet it is. When the heater is on our family room becomes the warmest room in the house, allowing us to keep the centeral heat turned down lower than we did before we bought the space heater. Worth the money.

There are much better working heaters out there for the money. I've had the Holmes 'One-Touch' for over a year now, and although it does provide OK heat in manual (constant on) mode, it does not work well at all in thermostat mode. The unit turns on for only perhaps a minute or two, then shuts off for a much longer period of time. It does not seem to have a temperature sensor to control the unit's thermostat, and thus keep an area heated properly. The unit would have been better off if it had a timer, where you could set it to let's say turn on for 5 minutes, then off for 10, or whatever else time intervals you would need to properly keep your area heated. This is a major shortcoming, since you don't want to keep your space heater on constantly for long periods of time (fire hazard), and you must rely on a thermostat or timer mode to keep the unit on in intervals.

I got this fan because I wanted something quieter than the usual rattling jet engine to avoid disturbing the neighbors at night. And it is indeed pretty quiet, though "whisper" is perhaps a bit exaggerated. Oddly, as someone else noted, it is quieter on the high setting than the low. Of course only time will tell if it remains quiet or gets noisy as it wears in (later -after 6 weeks, it seems to be a bit noisier than originally). Also, even on low, it generates a nice amount of close-in heat, just what I want.

On the other hand, the single-button control is a pain in the neck. You have to cycle through up to 12 settings to reach whichever you want (high, low, 5 thermostat settings each at high and low, and off). If you accidentally go past the one you want, which I've found easy to do, you just have to grit your teeth and cycle through again .. click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click (that's 12 clicks). To turn it off (the superstitious may be interested that this makes 13 total states ;-) you have to either cycle through to the off state (a lot of clicks if you simply use high or low setting) or hold down that one button for what seems like a very long time (even though it is only 2 seconds). I may eventually get used to this, but haven't yet, and so when I inevitably release the one button too soon, find myself cycling through all those settings again. grrrrr. And all that button pushing seems guaranteed to wear it out sooner than a better designed system would .. what ever happened to good old fashioned switches? Like an on/off, a toggle for hi/low, and something separate for thermostat? Ah yes, the imperatives of lowest possible cost with maximum useless features, and design for breakdown.

Another problem no one has mentioned is that there is no handle or indentation to pick the bloody thing up with. Every other space heater I've used has something so that you can move it easily with one hand. The Whisper Quiet has two indentations on the sides, seemingly intended for two handed use. One handed is possible if you just want to scooch it over, but awkward (unless you're lying on the floor next to it :-). .

I don't use or intend to use the thermostat feature (which makes having to cycle past these ten settings doubly annoying), but anyone who expects a sensor mounted on the heating device to give accurate whole room readings should think about it again. Plus, in a small device like this, with low fan volume, the very act of the heater being on heats the unit as a whole and affects the sensor. Another reviewer is right -a timed off would be more useful (and safer!).

As several reviewers mentioned, I also found this much cheaper locally, especially when shipping is figured in from amazon; plus there was a rebate.

In summary, the quietest fan forced heater I've seen, at least in its size (I have a large tower heater that is pretty quiet, but wouldn't work for the room intended), but has several annoyances. Maybe next time I'll investigate a radiant panel heater ... I notice browsing amazon that they seem to have come down in cost. Unfortunately, they don't seem readily available locally.

I bought this blanket last April and fortunately was able to use for a month or so before summer. I have since been using it in the chilly and temperamental fall weather of Western New York. It is a perfect size for one person, it covers me nicely as I lay out on the couch and it even spreads nicely across two laps. I usually have it on the medium setting, low is just a little warmer than a regular blanket..medium gets that nice warming heat. I have only had it on hot once or twice on a very chilly day and only for 5 minutes tops, it gets hot very quickly. The three hour shut off is nice, I don't have to worry about losing heat midway through a movie and I am also not worried if my cats accidentally turn it on when we're not at home. The fabric is lovely, the pattern is fun and great colors, i have not needed to wash it yet. I believe the manufacturer warns about hot spots if the blanket is folded (as in not laid flat out) if this happens it is not enough for me to notice. Also the cord and control is a nice length. My house is very old with very few outlets, I have the blanket plugged in behind the couch and I can use and store the blanket on either side trailing the cord out of the way very nicely. I very much recommend this blanket if you are looking for a nice blanket with a quick and comfortable warming heat.

Electric Blankets have NOT come a long way since their inception. That's OK though because what they do, they do well!

This blanket is the exception though: The material is VERY soft!

I bought this for my son as a Christmas present. You can imagine the look on his face when he said "Blanket? Ug..." and tossed it aside for the good stuff. When he realized it was an electric blanket though, that changed things.

Now he goes to bed when it gets cold in the house. I love this thing! A secret to other parents: If you want to get your kids to bed, spend $30 on this blanket then turn the heat down to 60 around 7pm...by 8-9pm, watch what happens. he he he...

I will say: Pay attention to the product description. Dimensions: 50" x 60" This is very small. It is not intended to be the ONLY blanket on your bed, folks. Use it with other blankets. For best use, I recommend a thin sheet/blanket for layer 1, then this blanket for layer 2 then a throw or feather top to top it off. That will keep you warm and let you turn the heat down!

Did I mention it was soft? I wish I had this in the early 1980's. My Electric blanket back then was made out of sandpaper, I swear!

This shower was installed as part of a full renovation to our bathroom, I was a bit worried because we were having trouble finding a unit with this style that was of good quality, but not in the $5000 range. It was either cheap units with a lot of plastic, or the very high priced ones. My only complaint, and this is something I never have to complain about when items are shipped directly from Amazon, but this one was, is that the unit was shipped only in it's original box and by the time it was delivered on my doorstep, the box was open at one end and the parts inside were scattered so that we weren't sure if everything was there until it was time to install it a month later. As a told Amazon in my review of the packaging, I've recieved $4 non-fragle items much better packaged than my $1500 shower. After installation (all parts were there), the shower is very classy and we love it. Note to whoever is installing this, the instuctions are very clear about the depth of the rough plumbing in the wall, our contractor found out the hard way that there is NO give or take a 1/4" like there is when installing a unit with a roughing valve, he had to cut into the wall behind after the tile was installed to re-adjust the depth, but it was his fault, the instructions were clear about this.

This is an excellent product and we love it. The controls are are creatively designed and function properly. The only thing to look out for is making sure your plumber does not do a short negative angle on the shower head extension or you will get a slow leak on top of your head when drying.

Alright, first the negatives:

1. I have the chrome finish, and it picks up hard water spots pretty easily.

2. This is not a high pressure shower, more like a firm rain. If you are looking to me pulverized, this is not it.

3. All of our houseguests want to use our shower now.

That said, it's gets 5 stars from me and my SO. We have two of them in the master shower and they are fantastic. Really a treat to shower in them every day (2 months in now).

We get comments on them anytime someone sees them.

I have owned the Venstar (Was Totaline) wireless system for over two years now. I recently purchased my third and final Sender unit for my home.

I mounted my receiver near my furnace in the basement. The wiring was simple. It literally connected like any other thermostat. The instructions were clear and it was very simple to understand. Once the receiver was installed, setting up the sender was cake.

Setting up this unit was a breeze. I now have three senders (one for each floor of the house). I chose one as the "master" that received the programming. The other two are slaves on the system so when a user needs to make an adjustment, they just set it and it overrides the other units. It's genius!

Be warned: It establishes a social complexity. You will be fighting with your significant other more often now as each floor represents its own battle over who is cold/warm! he he...

Otherwise, these are great units. My house is 100 years old with a modern heat system. The wireless goes from the 2nd story all the way to the basement with no hesitation.

It's been over two years and I have not had to replace the battery in any of the sender units! Wow!

I am very happy with this system and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is considering multi-channel wireless units.

Would have been five stars but the display is not very bright or readable. But the product does just what it says it will do. I use it in my upstairs guest room/bonue room so guests can take it with them into the bedroom to keep it comfortable. The original hardwired thermostat was in a poor location making the bedroom too hot or too cold and this was easier than runing new wiring. This product of course requires the wireless receiver which also works just fine

These things work great to solve any problem where you would, in effect, like to move your thermostat without actually moving it, or you would like to have a thermostat in one room sometimes and in another room at other times. In fact, it's hard to believe how well this worked in solving my problem.

Because of all the confusion I had with what components go together and what the part numbers are, etc., I wound up buying directly from Smarthome, although I normally prefer to buy from Amazon. In this case, Amazon is showing a "Residential Sender", PN: T1100RF for $116.99, but you can buy the "Add-A-Wireless Thermostat", PN: T1119RF for essentially the same price ($116.47) at SmartHome and it includes the RF module that plugs into the bottom of the base thermostat. If you buy the RF module separately, it looks like it costs an additional $30 (PN: ACCO434). Anyway, it all gets confusing, or at least it did for me. The parts I wound up buying are:

1 EA, 7-DAY PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL THERMOSTAT, $90.75

2 EA, VENSTAR OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR, $32.50 each

My problem was that I have a large add-on (entertainment) room that is heated and cooled with booster fans. This actually works well, for the entire house, if the thermostat is in the entertainment room, but not where it's currently mounted, in the living room. In general, I would say that the solution to an uneven heating or cooling problem is to put the thermostat in the room that's the hardest to heat or cool and then close the vents to adjust the other rooms.

It's also nice, I think, to be able to take the remote thermostat with you to bed at night and open the vent in the bedroom and keep the temperature controlled exactly where you want it. Or, if you had a new baby, you might want to put the wireless thermostat in the baby's room.

In addition, I bought two remote sensors that I haven't installed yet. These will go in two different areas of the attic to monitor attic temperature and make sure my two attic fans are working.

Complicating things further is the fact that Venstar also give you the choice of using the "Residential Receiver" (PN: T1100REC)with the wireless thermostat (PN: T1100RF) instead of using the "7-DAY PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL THERMOSTAT". With this option, you evidently don't need an RF module and you don't need to run any wires through your house. If you went with this option, you could mount the Residential Receiver in your furnace room and then use one or more wireless thermostats instead of using a wired thermostat. One problem I had with doing this is that the Residential Receiver doesn't support the wired remote sensors and in my case, I didn't want to put battery operated sensors in my attic and then have to climb up there and change the batteries periodically. Another problem is that if you already have a regular thermostat and then remove it, you're going to have to cover the hole in the wall.

If you are going to replace your current thermostat with the Venstar 7-DAY PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL THERMOSTAT, one problem you can have is that you don't have enough wires going through your wall to your existing thermostat and the biggest electrical problem you're likely to have is that you don't have a common (C) wire because your old thermostat doesn't need one. In my case, I didn't have a common (C), but I did have an extra, unused wire, in the cable. So, I was able to simply connect the common at the furnace and the problem was solved. Based on my heating and air conditioning installation, I would say that you should have at least 5 wires in your wall for the thermostat to be used as follows:

W White

R Red

G Green

Y Yellow

C Blue, Black, or Brown, or?

(This is the common or return wire for the Red, 24 Vac wire.)

In short, Venstar makes some great products and gives you lots of choices, but if you aren't a do-it-yourself person, you might want to hire somebody to install their stuff for you.

I have a 2 story great room that was always cold because our thermostat was located in a hallway. I installed this along with a Venstar T1900 Thermostat (which also controls the humidifier) and it works perfectly. I put this remote unit on a table in our great room and now finally our furnace is getting the proper temperature reading and our room is no longer cold. Much easier than relocating the old thermostat to a new location. Both units are easy to install and come with instructions that are pretty thorough. I made one call to tech support and got a return call the same day. Overall I am very pleased.

This works better than expected. Some people on Amazon as well as a home brewing forum noted an issue with most analog temperature controllers that there is some wiggle room on the temp. This has a large dial so it is easy to set the exact temp (to the degree). With the reviews and concerns in the minds of other reviewers, I tested the unit to see how much of this so-called "wiggle-room" it had. Plugged the freezer into this temp controller, plugged the temp controller into the wall. Set the dial to 40*F. Freezer turned on, and right when the freezer's thermometer hit 40*F, the temp controller turned off the power. When the temp controller turned the power back on, the freezer thermometer said 41*F. IMO, this product has no wiggle room and is darn accurate.

One note on the use of temperature controllers. This product works exactly as it is supposed to. My freezer has a built-in compressor cool-down to ensure long-lasting useability. It will take anywhere from 2 to 4 degrees for the compressor to actually turn back on after the power is turned back on by the temp controller. This is not an issue with this product, but rather the freezer dictates this. I have now set the temp on the controller to 2 degrees lower than I want it at so that when it warms up, it doesn't typically pass the desired temp.

Converted a freezer into a keg fridge. This item keeps the kegs at a fairly constant tempature with very little variance, even with the 2x4 wooden collar installed on the freezer. Much cheaper than purchasing a kegerator. Great item for the homebrewer.

As a homebrewer, I needed a temperature controller to make sure my lagering fridge would remain at a constant temperature. This thing has a nice length of wire on the probe and causes no issues with the seal around the door. Being analog, it does have a little bit of wiggle room (+/2 or 3 degrees), but absolute temperature control wasn't my concern since yeast is a living creature and can handle a range of temps. If you've got a fancy fridge, I recommend getting a digital controller, though. The analog model will cut the power to the fridge right in the middle of a compressor cycle, and that's a good way to burn out your compressor over time. The digital ones only cut the power when the compressor is off, saving the life of your fridge. As long as you know what you're getting, though, this temp controller works well!

This is a very basic double pole line voltage thermostat. I rated it 4 stars because it lacks a thermometer or a temperature adjustment. Also, you have to follow the installation instructions carefully because both red wires go to line and the black to load rather than matching the wire colors in the box. I bought this to replace a top-of-the-line Honeywell which burned out in two years. Line voltage thermostats are becoming harder to find so I felt fortunate to find this one at a reasonable price. Time will tell how well it holds up.

This is actually my first time writing a review for any purchase I've ever made online and I frequently shop online; I felt compelled to put my feedback and stamp of approval on this product. For the price this is a great deal.

First and foremost: I did a lot of research and browsing both on and off of Amazon to find out safety concerns regarding space heaters. As many of you may see if you've been browsing other units, people complain that some units become very hot, as well as their plugs/cords, and that they pose a fire hazard. For this reason I did my research and not only does this unit have a tilt shut off (unit needs to be flat on the ground, if lifted it will auto shut) it also has a feature that if it overheats the unit will also shut off. These are both great features, I'm all about safety first.

Aside from these features, the heater works great for me. As others say, the fan is a bit weak, but this also makes the unit extremely quiet. Regardless of the fan being weak, this little unit does a great job of heating a medium sized bedroom. Set it on high, after about 30 minutes you feel a noticeable difference; walk away for an hour or two and the area will be very warm. Get the area you want to the right temp and set it on low and this unit will do a good job of maintaining the heat. After about 6 hours of use I was still able to touch the front grill of the unit and it was hot but not enough to burn me. Turn the fan setting on and the grill will be completely cool to the touch in under a minute. Also the cord and plug are both well insulated and have never even felt warm after hours of use.

On top of all this, I think not only is the unit being quiet and working well very attractive, but I also really like that there is no element that heats up orange on this unit. So not only is it quiet, but it is also not emitting disturbing light.

All in all I am very pleased with this unit. It serves my purposes quite well, it was a reasonable price, and the safety features make this unit a complete winner in my book. Do yourself a favor, spend a few extra dollars whether on this heater or a different one and make sure you get the safety features, its well worth it to have the piece of mind; protect yourself and the ones you love.

This heater was exactly what I was looking for. It's small, easy to use and quickly heats up my fairly-large family room. The room is build on a slab, so it is drafty and cold. This does the trick. In fact, if I leave it on for a couple of hours, it heats the entire first floor of my colonial house. I highly recommend it!

I live in a very old house with a poorly functioning heater. I live in Kansas and we have wickedly harsh winds that rip through the shoddy windows very swiftly. My room maintained a temp of about 40 degrees when it's below freezing outside.

I have this space heater in my room which is approx 12x9ft.

First night I plugged it in on high, had to get up two hours later because I was sweltering hot. I typically only turn it on after dark when it gets very cold outside and when I do I only need it on the low setting.

The safety feature I love a great deal is that if it's not completely level flat on its base it turns it's heating, rotating and fan elements off. You hear a click if you try to scoot it and trigger it. This does not require you to turn the knob to get it going again, just place it back on a level surface.

A GREAT buy, similar items are twice the cost at department stores. I am extremely pleased.

I bought this heater because I own a programmable thermostat (WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat) that works with analog heat/AC devices. (Basically, you plug your analog heater/AC unit into it, and when the temp gets to a certain level, it activates the plug, starting the heater/AC.) My plan was to use the two devices together to heat only the bedroom in our apartment at night, rather than the entire apartment (since we only need the bedroom to be warm at night and would theoretically save energy/money that way). Why not just purchase a digital heater with a built-in thermostat, you ask? I already had the programmable thermostat, so I wanted to give it a shot. Anyway, this heater ended up working well for that purpose, but it almost didn't and required far too much user intervention (see below).

When I first started using the heater, I found that it would intermittently rattle; it sounded like a miniature jackhammer (very miniature, but a jackhammer nonetheless). The sound was loud/annoying enough that my wife and I had trouble sleeping when it occurred. I later opened the heater up (obviously not recommended, but at least I unplugged it first) and looked around for the source of the rattling. I'm still not sure exactly what it was, but I discovered that if I tugged slightly on part of the plastic housing that surrounds the fan, the rattling stopped. So I drilled a hole in it, anchored it with a cable tie and closed it back up. Now the heater is as quiet as it should be (about as quiet as a regular oscillating fan that's on "low"), but it certainly took some effort. Again, I don't know if this is a common problem or if I just got a weird one. In summary...

Pros:

-is relatively quiet when working properly (about as quiet as a regular oscillating fan on "low"; I'm a light sleeper and I can sleep through it quite easily) (note that there is no difference between the "low" and "high" modes sound-wise)

-puts out plenty of heat, in my opinion, for a small-to-medium-size room (may not work well for large/open rooms; haven't tried that)

-oscillates nicely, and the oscillation itself appears to be dead silent (you still hear the fan, obviously, but the oscillating doesn't add any noise compared to when it's not oscillating)

-low/high heat option is a good feature

-works with analog-heater/AC programmable thermostats

-in theory, it never gets hot enough to start a fire (my understanding is that this is a safety feature common to all ceramic-element heaters); briefly touching it during use is encouraging (it feels fairly hot, but not hot enough to start a fire)

Cons:

-mine rattled loudly enough to disturb sleep before I fixed it (and fixing it wasn't easy); might have been a fluke

Notes:

-feels somewhat cheaply constructed (it's about what you would expect from a little, inexpensive space heater)

-relatively small; might not work very well for heating a large and/or open room (not sure)

-the fan is fairly low-power (again, much like a regular oscillating fan on "low"); don't expect it to blow very far
