I purchased the Prestige IAQ after comparing with other high-end thermostats (Ecobee, Nest) and have been very happy with the system. I didn't want to run new wiring, so the Prestige fit the bill perfectly.

Pros:

+ Wireless temp/humidity sensors (outdoor included, optional indoor sensor extra)

+ Circulate fan mode to even out temperatures in the house

+ 2 wire connection between the Equipment Interface Module and the thermostat

+ Proper humidifier support (no extra relay needed like the Nest 2nd Gen)

Cons:

Internet connectivity is extra-cost and basic in function (lacks usage/efficiency reporting)

No automatic learning capability like the Nest

Can be challenging to install (took me 3 hours, being extra-careful)

Potential deal-breaker:

Honeywell markets the Prestige as a PRO-installed device and will not provide any support or warranty service to do-it-yourself consumers (despite listing an 800 number in the manual).

I know that I take a risk by purchasing and installing this system myself, but I hope that it proves as reliable as my past Honeywell thermostats. Sadly, if it does break, I know that Honeywell won't be willing to help me.

Our first Deni went dead after one use. Deni customer service (Keystone Manufacturing) was outstanding though. Since it was a large heavy item, all they required was for the power cord to be cut off and mailed back to them, at which point they sent out a brand new pressure cooker. Unfortunately, the 2nd one arrived with the plastic base pretty much shattered, although there was no damage evident on the box. No problem! Customer service sent another replacement out immediately with no questions. Unfortunately (again), the new unit died after only 2 or 3 uses (at least it lasted longer than the 1st one!). So while their customer service seems great, this particular pressure cooker seems to die pretty easily (at least at higher altitude of the Rocky Mountain region). The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is due to the customer service.

I purchased the deni 9780 8 quart pressure cooker and all 4 were lemons. I like the looks and the features of the pressure cooker but they would only work 1 or 2 times and then it would die. This has got to be the worse pressure cooker on the market. Finally i told the deni rep to give me my money back that i think after 4 times that i should have got a good one. Dont waste your money on this lemon.

I like it. I am new to pressure cooking and have had some perfect outcomes. A few things not quite as good, but think my inexperience was more at fault. I have had great customer service when I called with questions. I needed the larger size for my bigger family and I would definitely buy it again. Have had 2 times when the lid did not seem to seat quite right and steam was escaping. I had to drop the pressure and restart the process. Would like the lid on perfect every time on the first try. There is now way to know it will leak until it leaks but again has happened only twice with many uses.

I bought mine from Kohl's. The package itself was undamaged. Taking the unit out of the box, the plastic base stayed in the styrofoam packing while the rest of the unit came out. This left exposed wires and the electric guts exposed. Obviously, I never used it so I don't know how well it works. It's a poor design. I am returning it and going to find a better product. I won't be a Deni though.

This is an absolutely fantastic warming tray. It is very attractive and is large enough to hold several items. It is a perfect pseudo-blech: the tray can be kept on continuously for several days with no problems. There are no temperature indicators on the knob, but I've been keeping it turned about 1/4 inch from the off position. At that position, a half-size tray from a cold refrigerator is toasty warm in 2.5-3 hours. If you leave your tray/pan on there for long enough, the tray will actually braise the food. Awesome, right? Keep in mind that at least at the setting I was using it at, this tray might boil water if you leave it on there for long enough, but don't count on it. It might do that at a higher setting, but I didn't test it.

***2 Month Update***

The person I gave this to used it about eight times over 2 months and now it's completely broken. Waring has so far offered great customer service (they told me to send them the broken one and they'll send me a new one). Hopefully the new one will last much longer. I'll update this review in a few months if the item is still for sale.

I purchased this warming tray a year ago and have used it about once a week over the past year. The tray appears to be cordless in its picture and the tray showed up when I searched for "cordless warming tray," but the tray IS NOT CORDLESS. It must be plugged in to stay warm. It remains warm for several minutes after it's unplugged, but not long enough to get through a meal and there's no way to disconnect the cord. In all other respects, it's a good warming tray -it gets as hot as you could want, and the heating surface is large (the tray is too big to put in the middle of our table though).

the mantal part of it is actaully solid wood, you do have to build it together but once its up its looks great and its very stable. comes up to about your mid waste, not very tall but it looks great for where i put it.

the heater works excellent. it says it heats to 300square feet and i agree with it. it literally will heat the whole house by itself. i live in a townhouse and it keeps the whole thing warm, especially the living room is nice a toasty while we watch TV.

also it is very presentable (the flame). its not over baring fire but its a nice decent little fire.

It makes our house look great and feel great.

I was amazed to find this fireplace at this price and ordered it right away. The finished product is beautiful! The color is rich and with the remote that's included it's so easy to operate! I put it together myself with my handy drill in about 2 hours. This is the best addition to my livingroom so far and I'm thinking about getting another one for my basement!

Words cannot say how much I love this machine. Using my bestemor's (grandma for you non-norwegian speakers) heavy-duty cast iron krumkake iron, the process of making of krumkaker would require an entire afternoon and burnt fingertips. Well, no longer. I made an entire recipe in about an hour and without any help. This is an excellent product and I recommend it highly. Also is included is a recipe for Krumkake and a wooden roller. For those of you who are not familiar with this Norwegian treat, one really delicious way to eat it is to fill it with a mixture of sweetened whipped cream and cloudberries (or lingonberries) It is a real treat.

My only complaint is that the design is not as pretty as the one on my bestemors krumkake iron. But that is a minor detail.

One of the things that is nice about the VillaWare Krumkake Baker is that you can cook so many krumkake quickly by cooking two at a time. The design on the iron makes very pretty krumkake. While we have our own krumkake receipe from Norway, the one included with the cooker is excellent. Note, in order to make the krumkake authentically thin, you need to make sure your batter isn't too thick. Totally non stick, it is very easy to clean.

I love it so much! It is so easy to use and the Krumkate came out very thin. However the product is "made in China" not "made in USA" as indicated under its description. I experienced that the cookies came out rather dark, so I used a timer instead of waiting for the light. It will take approximately one minute and 45 seconds for each cookie. I set mine as one minute and 25 seconds. If you want a thin krumkate, your batter should be thin. The thinner, the faster it will take, so adjust your timer accordingly. My purchase consisted of two Krumkake bakers; one for a shower gift for my daughter and one to replace my two old stovetop krumkake irons. The electric is far superior to the stovetop irons because it is so easy to use and it does not generate the amount of heat that the elements on the stove top do. I cannot get a window unit due to my window size, and this unit came with a window kit that fit my windows. It worked absolutely perfect for 2 months. Then, on a particularly hot day, the bucket filled up with water and the unit shut off. I drained all the water, which is an absolute pain in the rear to do due to the drain being less than half an inch off the floor. The unit leaks water like a faucet ever since, all over the floor. There is really no effective way to use it anymore. I ordered a different brand that doesn't have water leakage issues. I should have listened to all the reviews I read. I practically paid several hundred dollars for a few months use. What a waste. The unit cools great, but what good is that with water all over your carpet? Stay away from this product.

UPDATE: The unit only leaks when moved. If the water reservoir fills up, and must be drained, the unit must be moved to do so because the drain plug is literally right on the floor and there is no pan or container you can get under it. The reservoir will fill eventually, the unit will have to be drained, will have to be moved, will leak. Once all the water leaks out that is going to leak the unit works great until its time to drain again. Like I said, it took 2 months before I had to drain, but this process was a major PIA. I would avoid this unit, but I still gave in another star because it does not leak except during the drainage process.

The best air conditioners are large central units that connect to a whole building HVAC. Since you're reading this review, it's likely that a central unit isn't a possibility for you like it wasn't for me. If you can put in a window unit, that is your next best bet but if that is not practical, you've got to go portable. You could get a nice fan or an air cooler but that's like taking the bus instead of driving. It's really not the same.

I have two portable air conditioners and both are made by Soleus. This is one of them and the other one is a 14,000 BTU unit. This one cools a 166 sq ft room that only needs to be cooled ten to fifteen degrees and it's more than powerful enough for that. It can bring the temperature down in fifteen minutes or so.

Portable air conditioners, until fans, need to have an unsightly and awkward tube connected to the window. These tubes are inevitable flimsy and don't fit well. They seem unacceptable unless the only alternate solution is to suffer in the heat and then suddenly they don't seem bad.

Soleus is perhaps the best portable air conditioner manufacturer. I haven't ever had a non-Soleus unit but I've heard horror stories about others. I've heard bad things about these too but I haven't had anything bad happen.

This is probably the smallest and cheapest good unit on the market so if 8000 BTU is enough for you, this is an excellent bet.

. . . if you're mindful of one limitation: it condenses lots of moisture into a limited capacity container, and will need to be emptied or drained. It's built low to the ground, so I put it up on a little platform and attached the short included plastic hose to the drain port and put a container under it to catch the "drip" (which when it is very hot and humid is really a "stream"!). Recognizing that limitation (discussed in previous reviews), I've avoided any problems and have been quite pleased with the product. It cools well and in my limited basement space where it is used, it does fine.

This works well for the particular conditions in which we're using it. We're happy with it. We live in northern California, where hot weather is usually also dry, and evenings are cooler. We put this in a bedroom that gets very hot during the day and doesn't cool down quickly enough at night. Instead of trying to fit the "window kit" into our old-fashioned window, we just leave the window slightly open with the end of the vent hose sticking out while the unit is running. We run it at bedtime and it cools the room down nicely. I gave it only four stars instead of five because of a couple of design flaws: (1) Though I don't expect that we'll have to deal with emptying the condensation tank much, if at all, it's true that the opening is awfully close to the floor, and I can see that in a more humid environment, where it would need emptying more often, it would be pretty awkward. I don't see why the designers couldn't have put the hole a little higher up so that you could actually get a pan or bowl under it. (2) The instructions said to keep the vent hose as straight as possible, but they put the vent hole at the bottom of the unit too. Most people don't have their windows at floor level, and putting this thing on a table or something would also be awkward, since it's so big and heavy (90 pounds, I think). That said, it works just fine for us sitting on the floor with a 90-degree bend in the hose, so I guess that's not such a big deal.

UPDATE: We've had it for almost a year now and are still satisfied with it. It gets the room nice and cool very quickly, and we have never yet had to empty the condensation tank. So that's not a big problem in a dry climate.

We live in a midcentury apartment building mid 20th century, that is. The building's central air unit has reliably failed during each heat wave we've lived through since moving in. This year, I'd had enough. We ordered the Soleus based on a couple of days of Internet research, and we bought from Amazon for ease of returns if that became necessary. The unit arrived short one panel for the screen-door vent adaptor. We emailed the manufacturerer and they promptly sent not one but two additional panels.

Then we had a few weeks when the building's main A/C was working. But sure enough, another heat wave and the central unit failed. This morning it was 78 degrees in the coolest room of our apartment. We rolled out the Soleus, assembled the vent panel and duct, and turned it on. Fifteen minutes later the room was 75 degrees.

This A/C unit is a bit noisy, but not really worse than the central A/C's fan unit in our apartment. We have the Soleus hooked up in the living room and venting out that patio door. A fan will push the cool air back to us in the bedroom.

78 degrees probably doesn't sound too bad, but when you are 46 and hormonally imbalanced, it's too hot for comfortable sleep. I consider the Soleus a good investment and would add that I was very happy with the fast and courteous handling of our missing-parts request to the manufacturer.

Got it because it was cheap and it had good reviews. and for most people I think it will be just fine, installation was a little hassle because the manual never tells you what the signal lines are. and i also needed to add dc adapter to it to run since my thermostat only had 2 wires.

Got it all working late saturday night(started it pretty late) was impressed were able to respond to my email on a saturday night.

my big complaint is the only programming and remote control is via their web page. if they ever go out of business, or stop the service the unit will be useless except as a dumb thermostat. it also communicates via https (SSL) so its not easy to snoop on it and write my own. Contacting support, they told me that there is not enough interest in local control and they fear it will add to confusion getting it setup. they did say if they ever make a more hackable unit in the future they would keep me in mind, which is nice but useless to me.

Sadly their website does not support may of the thing I would want, (so I may have to learn web scraping or other tricks) what i want is the ability to graph my inside temp (especially when its set back, so i can see where the sweet spot is, where i use the least energy reheating the home but dont waste a bunch during the day.

Also i would like to be able to from my local network kick it into away mode. or im at hoem mode base upon my alarm status. (which i can read form my local network)

If they offer some expanded website options and or local network reading/polling/changing, I think this would be a fantastic product for me.

This wifi thermostat is everything that one could want in a programmable device. The CyberStat is easy to set up, with just a challenge or two with the wifi setup. See tip at the end of this review. The CyberStat is small, nice looking, and the directions are actually in English with no Chinese mistranslations. It took me all of 5 minutes to install it, thanks to the fantastic tech support by email. More later. I am only using it for heat on a new furnace so the connections with just a two wire system were simple. A power brick is needed for two-wire systems to supply the power... virtually any brick will do. A tip on wifi setup: take down all the info on the inside cover since it will be needed during registration of the device. As to tech support by email and by phone, simply put, there is NONE better. If all companies ran this way, we consumers would have no complaints. Emails are answered within hours, not within days or ignored completely. Phone calls are actually answered and tech support is clear and precise. I love this thermostat and the company making it.

I see no reason to need a fancy touchscreen display on a thermostat, like the other models. What does one need in the hallway other than basic controls and a readout? Programming a schedule is a breeze over the WiFi from my recliner! The WiFi interface works on any phone with a browser and web access. I control it from my Nexus 7, iPod Touch and PC as well. It's nice to be able to turn the heat up on my way home rather than programming a guessed ETA into the thermostat every time I leave.

By far this is the best low cost solution I can get to the problem of accessing my thermostat from my mobile phone when I am away home. If you don't need that feature you can find other low costs thermostats that don't have the CyberStat drawbacks. When I go away from home longer then normal, I can set the CyberStat to low temperature and to manual mode so it will stay there. And I can return the CyberStat to program mode and a higher temp before I travel home. I save while I am away and the house is warm when I arrive. That is why I have this unit and it does that perfectly. There are pluses and minuses which I address below, but from my research, the next price point of any product that will do the above is about 4 times the price of the CyberStat, and I do this to save $$$$$.

Installation: The CyberStat would do well to market a battery powered model. I had to done some work to add a ground back to the heater transformer (they call it a ground but in my understanding of electricity I would call this a common). The install instructions assume you have swallowed the pink pill and have an Iphone I and Motison support couldn't get this going with my Blackberry (only a problem for installing). But this was the good part, they modified a CyberStat unit to bypass the router search and connect to my open router. They sent it to me without waiting to receive the first one back. That is great support.

Cons: Bright light. -there is no way to turn down the display. My thermostat is in my bedroom and I had to cover it with blue painter's tape. I can still see the display through the tape and can get some sleep in the same room.

Needs to connect to their server through the internet. If their server goes down or your internet fails, you will have an electronic version of the old dial type manual thermostat. This is one of the things that lets keeps the price down.

If you have an old house with a two wire thermostat, you will have some wiring to do.

Pros: Very low price

Outrageously good support.

Web interface is simple and functional

Works just fine.

This is a sweet little thermostat and had I not needed to call Honeywell customer service I would give it a 5 star rating. First off; i have serviced industrial equipment for 30 years, however I an not what honeywell calls a contractor. this thermostat, according to honeywell; is sold to contractors only. First call they said voltage was incorrect, NOT. Second call, flat out; you are not a contractor: NO HELP PROVIDED. the set up of this unit is somewhat complicated with quite a number of options for many varied types of heating systems. YEA, I figured it out myself, CUZ, I had to. Just PRAY when you buy this one you do not need WARRANTY or CUSTOMER SERVICE Cuz, that DOG don't Hunt. Maybe the REAL Reason cust service is poor is because they know nothing about the product also. Note to Honeywell; Just eliminate the cust service number you will save money and not have as many dissatisfied customers.

We purchased this to control baseboard electric heat. We installed the HONEYWELL TL8230A1003 Thermostat Electric Heat Digital 7 day programmable in five rooms in our home. Unfortunately, when we got to our living room, the old thermostat wasn't 4 wire double-pole, but 24 volt. Instead of running new lines, we headed back to Amazon and purchased this item. It was very easy to install and program. You get four set points per day and you can customize each day in the week. There is a manual override, a temporary override, and a vacation setting. This is actually a nicer looking unit than the TL8230A1003. I'm very pleased with it. I definitely would recommend this thermostat.

I've had this thermostat for a few months now and it works great! I don't have any complaints, it's a 125V thermostat (line voltage)and they are not common in Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. You would have to go to a supply house to purchase one. With all that said, it works great. I set it and leave it alone. Got it in a timely fashion.

Who would have thunk this would still be my favourite remote thermometer, 17 years later? I now even have four different brands, so I can compare them right here:

* This one, which I still use daily and think of in terms of "better the Devil you know..."

* The similar-looking but less well-thought-out Oneida 31161 Digital Thermometer & Timer, which is annoyingly loud and also scoots backwards when you press Start/Stop.

* The Oregon Scientific AW131 Grill Right Wireless Talking Oven/Barbeque Thermometer, which is a horrible "talking" design with a stiff learning curve that is utterly unaided by the manual, but has ONE feature that makes it worth learning and makes me forgive all its sins: its probe can survive 572 F.

* The Maverick Wireless Cooking Thermometer, which works well, but I don't quite get the point of the "iPod interface"

So, to this one. First thing you need to know is: buy a spare probe, because they don't last very long. They can be damaged by heat greater than 350F. That is just too low there are many times when hotter ovens are necessary. When a probe goes bad, there is no indication until an expensive roast gets carbonized. This, of course, always seems to happen when guests are present. Spare probes are available at a decent price from taylorusa dot com. Come to think of it: get two.

A recent new use for me is the foolproof production of world-class steaks, as thick as they are wide, to any precise desired degree of doneness: pre-heat the (salted, peppered) steaks in a 275 F oven until internal temperature is 90-105 F (depending on desired doneness) and finish by browning in cast-iron skillet. An even more precise technique does it the other way round, browning first, but that needs a 450F oven, which also needs the Oregon Scientific thermometer.

This is the best of the corded remote thermometers. Take it as a given that it is fairly short-lived. Now, don't hold that against it -it has a hard job to do, it does it very well, and (what none of the other reviewers seem to realize) it does come with a lifetime guarantee. If you take care to not expose the probe to temperatures above 350 F, it should last.

My first one lasted four years, and I was completely at a loss when it broke. Once you've cooked with a remote thermometer, you will not willingly go back to "guess-n-estimate," or supposed "instant read" thermometers that actually take 15 seconds while the oven quickly cools down and your wrist-hairs start to singe and curl.

I used to be anxiously uncertain about making roast beef. Now, I bring it home, trim a little fat off, stick the probe in the center. Two minutes elapsed time, and I can kick back until it's time to make the pan gravy. Perfect (let me emphasize that) PERFECT every time.

The buttons are well-made; the display is bright and clear; Setting time and/or temperature is a snap; battery life is about 1 1/2 years when left on all the time. I covered mine in olive oil/flour/fish sauce/raw ground beef/balsamic vinegar/whatever and it still worked (hint: the buttons are not water-resistant, so turn it upside down and wipe with a soapy sponge, then rinse the same way).

You can calibrate your unit by sticking the probe in melting ice (for 32 F) and briskly-boiling water (for 212 F), but both of mine were spot-on, so you might skip this step.

Uses you might not think of: Putting the probe in a big pot of water you're boiling for pasta. You can relax, knowing you'll be buzzed when it's finally boiling.

Sticking the probe out of a closed window in the late Fall to warn you to harvest your last tomatoes.

Sticking the probe in the middle of a swordfish steak, setting it for 125-130 F, and knowing that you will get utterly PERFECT swordfish by the time it is served.

Sticking it in the middle of the largest meatball you are simmering in sauce -you will feel completely secure that they are safe to feed to your children.

When I'm cooking at a friend's house, I bring my big shop apron, my knives, my "shovel" (it's a pastry scraper, but I mostly use it as a shovel), and this thermometer.

Even when directions are followed rigorously, the probes on these guys are prone to melting down. I've purchased one from all the major distributors, and they all work the same. Taylor or somebody needs to sell a 10-pak of probes, instead of me buying a whole new unit every 4 months... They do work great though. I use an older gas oven that has trouble maintaining proper cooking temperature. The secondary dial that I've installed inside can read as much as 50 degrees different from the digital dial on the oven. Because of this, I prefer to probe and track the cooking temp of the food instead so that I can provide a perfectly cooked product. I also use this for making tea, as 212 is too hot for good tea, and 185 to 195 is a better temperature.

Still, the probe does melt down as other have said. I typically get about 30 to 50 uses before I need to purchase another. The problem occurs mostly when the oven temp exceeds 350, as I lose most probes when baking breads. Still, I can't live without it, I just wish Taylor would start selling a package of probes for my dozen `timers' that I have sitting around the kitchen. It would be 5 stars if the probes didn't die.

I got mine 3 weeks ago, used it twice, all the features works, except the main purpose of measuring temperature. Now I plug the probe at ambient temp of 90F and it shows HI all the time (above 392F).

If I put the prove in the freezer, It will show 180F.

I ended up with an expensive timer with a probe that does not work. Now I can't even return it, as I'm not in US. Shipping by mail will be more expensive then having the money back.

Read carefully the reviews before adding to cart.

This digital device is the ultimate thing of beauty. As everyone knows, oven temperatures are imprecise so how do you know when your food (esp. meat) is done. The answer is use this product. The metal probe is designed to be inserted into a piece of meat with the ovenproof wire connecting it to the thermometer which must stay outside of the oven. The magnetized base allows the thermometer to be stuck right outside of the oven. When the meat reaches the target temperature, it will let out an alert. The end result is beautifully cooked meat to the desired level of "doneness." I recommend undercooking by about 5-10 degrees since there will be carryover cooking time (assuming you rest the meat).

The device is amazingly easy to use. If you can program a digital watch, you can figure this gadget out. It also has a timer function in case you are working on two dishes at once.

The best way to cook. I have been using them for years. Notice I said "them". I have tried Taylor, Polder & Accurite. ALL are made in China. All fail in 6-9 months. After 6 hours of my valuable time one day, I got a hold of Tech Support at an importer.

The problem is the probe. You can not wash it, kink it or expose it to temperatures greater than 390 F. (My Webber says to pre-heat grill to 550!) Plan on buying many replacements and a life of 6 months each. Not many Web merchants have the probe in their shopping cart.

Too bad no American company can do the technology right.

Fast and easy to assemble and mount. Has a sleek & sexy look to it and heats up your room in no time. Definitely one of the best on the market! I have a similar one that is a free standing floor type which works well but not nearly as sturdy built. It does have the convenience of it being out of the way on the wall it takes up floor space so this gives same benefit but having it on the wall is even better and out of the way.

-It works great to heat any area but provides 3 different levels allows you to adjust it to what level heat you need instead of a lot of the other models just have the one level on or off switch only.

Built using real glass, metal, and rocks unlike the cheaper models that use plastic fake glass doesn't look sleek and sexy on the wall like this one does when mounted.

-This has an emergency safety shut off switch which surprisingly most don't have.

-The small easy remote control allows you to conveniently turn it on from anywhere unlike most that manually turn on and off which is a feature most don't have and you will want since its mounted up on a wall.

Cons-

-It's built well but it is heavy so it does need to be mounted to a stud or wall that you can support it like you would a flat screen TV monitor because same weight if not more than a flat screen it's size.

-Again it is heavy so shipping is more costly. (But worth it!)

I even enjoy having the lighted fire screen effect on even when I am not using the heat option with it. It's realistic and stylish look that gives the very realistic illusion of a real looking fire making it work as an interactive art piece as well!

I AM BEYOND HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Amazing price and you really get way more than what you pay for at this price!!!!!

realize that all electric heaters put out a max of a little more than 5000 btu's per their 1500 watt rating. so do not be fooled into spending more on features to get nothing. it is good to have a thermostat for auto temperature control but beyond that money is wasted on remote controls and the like. up to 50 dollars for a fan forced or oil filled heater with thermostat is the sensible way to go.

I've been using Wrap-on heat tapes for the last 10 years, they are easy to work with. I like the indicator light on the power cord, I can tell at a glance if the heat tape is working or not. I now have three heat tapes of different lengths.

We live in a motor home and use the heat tape to keep our water hose from freezing in the winter. I've used the Wrap-On tapes down to 20 below zero and the water always flows as long as we don't loose electric power. I'm surprised that Wrap-On does not market to RV owners.

This tape is superior to the type that has the temperature sensor under the insulation.
