I purchased the Prestige IAQ after comparing with other high-end thermostats (Ecobee, Nest) and have been very happy with the system. I didn't want to run new wiring, so the Prestige fit the bill perfectly.

Pros:

+ Wireless temp/humidity sensors (outdoor included, optional indoor sensor extra)

+ Circulate fan mode to even out temperatures in the house

+ 2 wire connection between the Equipment Interface Module and the thermostat

+ Proper humidifier support (no extra relay needed like the Nest 2nd Gen)

Cons:

Internet connectivity is extra-cost and basic in function (lacks usage/efficiency reporting)

No automatic learning capability like the Nest

Can be challenging to install (took me 3 hours, being extra-careful)

Potential deal-breaker:

Honeywell markets the Prestige as a PRO-installed device and will not provide any support or warranty service to do-it-yourself consumers (despite listing an 800 number in the manual).

I know that I take a risk by purchasing and installing this system myself, but I hope that it proves as reliable as my past Honeywell thermostats. Sadly, if it does break, I know that Honeywell won't be willing to help me.

I have a 900+ sq foot basement with 8 ft ceilings. I've had this heater for about a week. I am absolutely amazed at how comfortable and warm the entire space is now. It's in the low thirties outside, and my entire basement with the new heater is in the low seventies, a good 10+ degrees higher than before. The unit is very quiet, clicks once in a while to regulate temps. So easy to use and set up. I'm just so happy that I actually WANT to go down to the basement now and hang out WITHOUT my scarf. The flame is very realistic my son and his friend thought this heater was a real wood stove. The box says pennies a day to operate, I hope that's true. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product it will improve your quality of life.

The only down side I had to buy a wine cooler so my wines won't go bad because of the higher temperatures. :)

This Stove packs a punch! It heats my 1200 sq. ft. Apartment great! Plus it looks very realistic! I have other family members who have eden pure infrared heaters, that work just as good, but don't look as good as this one. I love that all the controls are behind the door, so little one's cant mess with them. Very quality construction. The only thing I don't like, is the temperature control, it doesn't tell what temp it's set at, so I have to guess where to set it, but I can live with that one flaw, since it looks so good!

Got this for my garage to use in the winter I turned it on and BAMM!!! heat that warmed the area so well and it looks really cool, the flame control and light control are nothing but to entertain you but its great to look it and its not all plastic, the outside is a metal, only the legs are plastic. I hate that it is a "American" looking stove but made in China but its really nice 5 stars from me. I had been looking at some other styles but this one really caught my eye and I was not disappointed at all.

Got unit, put it in an 8X10 bedroom with door closed to heat for guests. Was on for an hour, using high button and thermostat turned up full throttle, absolutely NO change in temp. Has nice flames but didn't change room temp at all. Very disappointed. Got out small bathroom heater, the portable types. In 15 mins, the room was warmed. I have two other electric stoves, one purchased on amazon...an electrolog which isn't made anymore evidently, but it still works great. And also a plow and hearth brand small capacity that is charming. Thought an infrared would be a great new choice. Very disappointed as I am out shipping to get it here and probably to send it back. Awaiting response from vendor, but would highly recommend that you seek other brand. Other reviewer must have one that isn't defective, I certainly got a dud. Shipping back rate made no sense to return as price more than double that of original shipping paid to receive, vendor return address where return would be made they use different warehouses than their locale, and if it wasn't deemed deflective, then a restocking rate applies from vendor. Note to shoppers, read vendor guidelines carefully before purchasing from 3rd party vendor here.

I have a very large family room/kitchen open area. I have been closing the door to the rest of my house, setting the thermostat back to 62 and running the Duraflame in the FR area. The FR warms up to 69/70 and the rest of my home goes down to 62. About half-an-hour before going to bed I set the thermostat to 66. I was concerned about my electric bill, but when it came I was pleasantly surprised that it had only gone up $12 for the entire month. Even better my gas heating bill went down over $25 for the month. The cabinet stays cool to the touch and looks like a piece of furniture. I would definitely recommend this heater.

Nice heater for my basement, does take the chill out of my basement, i have a very large area to heat, takes awhile but after an hour or so, it does feel comfortable.

I ordered this motor to replace one that was getting tired in our attic exhaust fan. I was looking for motors on Amazon and several that were close seemed to be from Electric Motor Warehouse. In my case , I had to find what I needed based on the old motor as there are no data plates on the fan assembly. Hot Tip: Go to the Electric Motor site First where you will find endless choices and find what you need, Then come back to Amazon and plug what you need into the search box and bingo, you're on your way! It would be helpful in a case like this if Electric Motor had a "drill down" search using motor specs -hp,volts,rotation, etc, but with a little patience you'll find what you need. This turned out to be a perfect replacement. Very happy with it.

As with the related fan blade that I also replaced, this improved motor works well. This too was the second time I replaced a motor. The original motor had bearing problems and only lasted a few years. I replaced the motor and fan assembly at that time. This time, the replacement motor finally seized up and needed replacement. This new motor is an improved model over that previous motor. It turns smoothly and installed easily. I hope to get at least 16 years from this motor like I did the last one.

These motors are the worst you could ever buy. Why? They are designed so that if you forget to oil the motor they will fail and burn out in a year ,two at the most. They could design them so that they don't need to be oiled but then they could not sell you the replacement motor for more than you can buy the whole fan assembly. This is a racket if I have ever seen one. I am going to make my own fan assembly with a good quality motor that will last for years with out having to be oiled every year.

My previous attic fan motor was made by Broan and it lasted 20 years so I wanted a replacement made by the same company. I ordered this item from partshouse but when I received it I noticed it was not made by Broan but by Packard which is a completely different company. I questioned partshouse about this and they tried to blow me off and said it's the same motor. I refused to accept this and I returned the item. I really get annoyed when companies use these deceptive practices. I notified Amazon about this but up until now they have apparently taken no action. If you want a Broan motor you will have to pay more and buy from a reputable company. I gave the product a neutral three stars since I didn't actually use the product. For those of you considering ordering this item just be aware of this.

Was a direct replacement for the motor that went out on me. Went in smoothly, just needed to be more careful with the positioning of the wires relative to the supports of the mounting bracket since the wire box mounted to one of the three braces. Not a problem with the fan though. Went in early summer and still going strong (during a warm day in early fall).

It will do what it needs to do! FAST ship! REPLACE WITH YOUR DEFROST HEATER JUST TO E SAFE! If you are getting a frozen freezer wall you will need a heater and a defrost thermostat. You can do it yourself for $80!

Defrost your freezer by unplugging it for 24 hours. ->Get a hair dryer and two small towels. -> Get an adjustable wrench and free the plastic wall. -> Defrost all ice and make it dry -> the defrost heater is on the lower opposite side of the cooling coils -> Follow the wires and pull them free. -> snap the heater out of the metal clips -> Install new one -> Do same for thermostat which is visible and out in the open.

Bought this unit because of size listed as nearly 7" square. This was the prime criteria since wall has custom paint job and was not painted under existing thermostat. Be aware that the mounting plate dimensions are actually as I've listed above, not as listed on Amazon. Otherwise this appears to be a well designed and easy to use thermostat and handles most applications at a reasonable price. Installation is well described, easy to complete, and took about five minutes. All you need is a phillips screwdriver and two AA batteries (not supplied). It is not back lite and some of the lcd readouts are small and hard to read although the temp settings are plenty large and easy to read. The mode settings (cool-off-heat and fan auto-on) are not lcd lights but a tiny blue dot that slides in place to indicate the settings. This is also hard to see in low light. I'd give the thermostat five stars if the dimensions were as described and the settings were lighted. Otherwise I'm happy with the design and construction, easy and well described installation.

I really like this thermostat. It is simple to operate and not as complicated as a programmable one. The only thing I miss is a light. It would be easier to read if it had a light. I guess its a small price to pay for simplicity.

I was looking for a simple digital thermostat and I chose this one due to the low price. When my husband installed it, the a/c worked properly. The heat also worked properly when switched to the "heat/on" or "heat/fan" setting. However, the heat would not work on the auto setting at all. We would set it to 68 degrees, for instance, and it would go full blast up to 74 degrees and not switch the furnace off. So then we'd turn it off manually, switch it back to auto and then the temp would go down to 58 and not kick back on. My husband quadruple-checked the wiring and it was seemingly correct. He tinkered with this thing for HOURS, but the auto-heat just wouldn't work.

We have a gas furnace from 1987, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Perhaps this model would work better with a more modern furnace? In the end, we purchased a Honeywell thermostat with similar features from a home improvement store and it worked accurately from the start and has continued to work perfectly.

One more gripe I can think of is that this unit comes with 2 drywall screws and says that no additional hardware or anchors are needed. This wasn't true in our case! The drywall screws tore up our wall and fell loose after 1 day. I had to spackle and repaint the area where this was installed before we put up the new Honeywell thermostat.

I still gave this unit 2 stars, because the price was very good, it is nice looking (gray, rather than white, which looked very sleek against our gray walls) and it's self-leveling. For whatever reason, it just didn't work with our furnace.

This unit and most of Frigidaire's Air Conditioners are junk. We bought one at Lowe's and said, "Wow what a Deal". Brought it home and put it in the window. It started up, and then the compressor kicked in after 3 minutes. So far so good. Then the 20 Amp circuit it is on blows. We reset and restarted. Now the compressor does not start. We try it in another 20 Amp circuit. Same thing, my little Lasko fan was better than this. Tried everything stated on forums and in manual. Nothing. Seems like it was the compressor that shorted out. Brought it back to Lowes. At the return counter there is 7 other Frigidaire Air Conditioners, all brought in on the same day according to the lady at the counter. She rolled her eyes and as if to say, "Oh no another Frigidaire". Gave us our money back no questions. Went to PC Richards, and bought a Friedrich for a bit more, but cools very nicely.

I have a 410 sq. ft. studio apartment. Although the AC is a bit noisy it easily handles the space. Even at 93 degrees, I only had to put it on medium. As of June 9, 2009 I mostly keep it on low with the thermostat at 75%. However the supplied filter is almost transparent and does not baffle the sound at all, So I moved the unit to a window as far from the TV as I could and bought, cut to size AC filter from Home Depot and laid it over top of the existing filter. It dropped the noise about 20%. For how well it works and as inexpensive as it is, a little noise is not so bad. After awhile you don't even think about it. It accually helps me sleep at night. If you want quiet out of the box. Spend double the money.

This air conditioner is good for cooling a small to medium size room.I got on sale locally for 139.95,including installation...The unit on low cool sounds like a hair dryer,and its hard to carry out a conversation on anything but low cool.The side panels are very flimsey...Internal insulation is like cardboard...For about 5 bucks more frigidare could have made this model quiter,but being made in china on the cheap,their corperate profits are more important than quality...To my fellow reviewers,you may have received a ship damaged unit.I wouldnt pay more than 129.99, for this unit..As noted by a fellow reviewer,in the electronic control version.."This Unit Should Come With Free Air Plugs" Thank You from Stewart L.

I bought this item for my master bedroom, which it the coldest room in the house. It is very easy to put together, though having someone help is not necessary it makes it easier. I run it every evening throughout the night and it keep the bedroom toasty and we set the logs to the lowest setting for the warm glow. The fan is a bit loud, but not so much that it keeps me awake.

Wood and fire look totally fake! Only yellow glow. Not red and flickering like some I've seen. Heats well but no thermostat. It will go to auto but you have to manually turn it down when it gets to a temp you want to maintain. If we hadn't already thrown away the box we would have returned it. But at least the cabinet is pretty and it does the job for the price.

Very disappointed with this product!! Flames and logs are very unrealistic and disappointing to look at. The wood box and color are nicer then the actual fire and logs. The blower motor makes a lot of noise while on, sounds like it is going to fall apart and stop working. One of the fluted columns were damaged upon taking out of the box. I could overlook the wood damage if the flame and logs were more realistic as advertised. If it didn't take so long to put together and then take apart to send it back I would. The red lights on the switches are annoying. Should've went with one of the products at Lowes. Oh well, live, buy and learn. Will definitely give this one away and purchase something else in a few years. Will try to get my moneys worth. I will say, the heater puts out really good heat and the thermostat works great. Scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 2. Heater is nice. If you're looking for an electric unit, after having this one, go to Lowes!
