I've had this kettle for about 8 years and it works just fine. I use it on average 2 to 5 times a day. The whistle isn't quite as loud as it was in it's younger days, hence I've boiled it dry quite a few times, with no ill effects. The only drawbacks are the one quart capacity and dragging the cord around when I fill it. So, if you want an electric kettle for under $20, this is a good buy.

I bought this teakettle online after searching the stores for something similar. I drink tea several times a day, and my office is a ten minute walk from the cafeteria. This way, I drink tea whenever I want at a fraction of the cost. The water heats up very quickly, and the teakettle never seems too hot to hold. Everyone who sees it wants one of her own.

I actually own two of these kettles for several years now. One at home, and one to make a quick tea/coffee at work. They make a quick job of boiling water, have a very loud whistle and just excellent overal. One thing to notice though it will only hold three to four cups of water. Perfect for a small family, but not enough if you have more than 2 tea drinkers at home. I have not seen rust on either pot I own, so it's possible that the other reviewer had a bad unit.

I got one of these for my 80-something mother a few years ago. She desperately wanted an electric kettle that reminded her of an old stovetop version yet was simple and safe, since her eyesight was failing. The Ptresto fit the bill and she loved it.

Unfortunately, the cleaning lady at mom's facility melted the cord somehow, so we got mom another. She likes it as much as before. We were impressed enough that we ditched our own more vertical model and got ourselves one of these.

Very handy for tea water, a cup of instant hot cider or cocoa on a cold evening, or some boullion. Or to just have some hot, hot water handy on the counter for recipe purposes.

My mother in law turned us on to this kettle so quick and easy to use. Cord is short, and don't over-fill because it will bubble out the spout, but other than that, it works great, quickly and holds enough for several cups of coffee / tea. Have purchased more than one of these, and they seem to last quite a while. We use ours several times a day so it gets a good work out.

I finally decided mid way through the summer to replace my aging thermostat with a more modern programable one after the shock of the first summer electric bill. Every day I would raise the thermostat before I left, but ocassionally I'd forget and waste a days worth of cooling. There are many choices for thermostats, and I initially looked at this model because of the name, Honeywell, A brand that I recognize and Know is a major player in thermostats and climate controll. I purchased this model because of its great step by step instruction and ease of installation. I have worked with other older programable thermostats, and many use to be difficult to program and even more dificult to figure out the display. Well, this unit has a nice easy to read picture display, and the programing is a snap. One feature that is nice is that it has 4 programable times during the day: wake up, going to work, home from work, bedtime, allowing you to save energy over the day, but also over night when it is cooler. It also has easy to program saturday and sunday settings as well, with available 4 programing settings as well if needed. So if your in the market for a new thermostat, this is a nice simple unit, affordable, and easy to use, why waste more money on a more expensive model.

I installed this thermostat to control a gas furnace, following the wiring instructions. The instructions said to remove the jumper wire in the connection terminal if you had a two-wire control circuit. I did as instructed; the furnace came on but would not quit. After I played with the unit for several hours, my wife checked the Honeywell website, and finally found that the instructions there said that the jumper was mandatory for proper operation if you had a single transformer and a two wire system. I put the jumper back on and the thermostat has worked flawlessly since. The thermostat works really well, but the directions stink.

Simple install although I'm using it for heat only on a gas fired boiler which is the easiest install.

Programming is not intuitive, but not as hard as some reviewers make it out to be. It's right up there with setting/programming a cheap digital watch. But it COULD be so much simpler.

Numbers are easy to read and overriding program is as easy as hitting up or down on the temp.

The BAD thing that really brought down my rating is that the temp readout, of what temp the room is... sucks. It "sticks" at a number most of the time, it's weird. You'd think a quality thermometer would be used in a digital thermostat! I checked it's readout against several other thermometers which all read consistent. This unit reads anywhere from 2 to 8 degrees out of whack. It could say the room is 70 when it's really 63. Pop/reinstall the batteries and it magically says 63... until it hits 70 again, then the 70 readout remains even after room cools down. UGH, and since it's inconsistent I cant just set it low to compensate.

Gotta find another one.

As other reviewers have said the product is easy to install and it is also very easy to program. However, there are a few things you should be aware of.

It is battery powered, meaning that if the batteries on the thermostat die, your AC system will stop working until you replace them. The better models get their power from the wires on the wall.

Even though installing it is very easy (all you need is a screw driver and pliers) and the instructions are clear, make sure you know what you are doing or have a professional install it. We had 5 wires going to our old thermostat so we followed the 5-wire instructions on the user's manual. By doing so, a transformer burnt out and we had to pay $140 to get it repaired. Turns out that even though we had 5 wires going to our old thermostat, we only needed 4 for this one, which according to our AC guy, we couldn't had known unless we worked with AC units all the time.

There are no troubleshooting or installation instructions for this particular model on the Honeywell's website. They have some cool wizards there but this model is not included.

First off Im not a mechanical contractor so I can only tell you what worked for me. I have a 2ton system that has the blue wire pulled to C but runs in O. If you've looked at your stat you'll know what im talking about. The wire layout regarding white and yellow has changed slightly but not enough to make this a complicated install. Very simple and easy to use and the illumination is a great touch.

I used this Ventamatic unit to replace a faulty thermostat in a different brand of fan. It works great; simple to wire, and has accurate temperature markings on the case.

As to the absence of the firestat mentioned by other reviewers, it's possible that they don't know exactly what a firestat is. It's actually a thermal fuse, and looks like a diode. If it gets too hot, the inside part melts which breaks the electrical connection. Mine has one.

Bought this to use with a fan that moves air away from our woodstove. It works as it should but it is not the most accurate thing in the world. It has a tendency to stick open much longer than temperature calls for. Decent product if you are OK with some inaccuracy.

The thermostat comes on at the set temperature, and turns off at the same temperature. What I really wanted was a thermostat that turned on at 10 to twenty degrees above the turn off temperature, and then turned off at the set temperature. This would be to insure that it was venting on a hot day and not on the cooler days when the temperature just nicks the set temperature.

Anyway the aged fan that I hooked this up to died, so if I buy a new attic fan they all come with a new thermostat in the box...

I bought this from Wal-Mart and am happy I did. It is small, so look at the dimensions carefully. But, I do enjoy sitting on the couch and having the flames twinkling out of the corner of my eye, or even staring at the thing is nice to do. It is fairly well made, and it does put out some heat. Not enough heat to take the place of a house heater, but on a really cold day it is nice to have it on. I have turned on the fireplace many times without the heat since I live in the south, and enjoy being able to do that. It really "warms up" the feel of the room. Another good thing is I have cats and am terrified of space heaters that they might get their little furry tails into, and this one seems safe to me from that perspective.

When we opened the box, found that the legs were broken. I called Dimplex, the manufacturer (per shipping instructions) and they indicated that they would send replacement parts. We should have within 5-7 working days. Have not received yet so I called. Now they are saying they do not stock the parts and therefore I have to send back to the retailer to get a new unit. They were going to call me to let me know, but have not had the time. They are too busy with other phone calls. Makes me wonder about the product....

This is a very nice stove. The stove is very heavy, with solid construction. The pewter finish is a beautiful dark grey and the accents are very nice. The stove warms a room quickly and the flame is fairly realistic in a darkened room. Dimplex units have patented flame technology that uses a reflection of the logs to make it look like the fire is between two logs. There are glowing embers at the base. The logs themselves do not glow as they do in more expensive dimplex units. On the back of the unit, there is an adjustable thermostat knob, a heat on/off switch, and a fireplace on/off/remote toggle switch. This is quite a solid piece, much more so than the units I have seen in home stores and the flame effect is much more pleasing to the eye.

This is actually a large unit as electric stoves go which is one of the reasons I chose this model. There are multiple dimplex models that look similar and can be found on the dimplex website. I think the amazon price of $220 is very good as the MSRP is $499 and it is listed for $440 on the Lowes website. I could not find this model stove for sale on Walmart's website (as reported by another reviewer) at the time of this review.

This is our third electric fireplace/stove and our second Dimplex. If you are in the market for an electric fireplace because you want to add a cozy fireplace to a room without the expense of installing a real fireplace, I highly recommend dimplex. While you can usually find flame effect videos online, it is worth looking at the flames in the store to see the difference between the dimplex effect and others. If you are buying this for heat and simply the design of the unit then there are many options available, but the flame effect on a dimplex unit is much more realistic in my opinion.

This sensor allows the Honeywell thermostat to control humidity and ventilation indoors, taking into account outdoor temperature and humidity. It allows locking out the heat pump when outdoor temperature falls below the breakeven temperature. It also adjusts indoor humidity in order to avoid condensation on the inside of the windows. The only drawback is that it is not possible to calibrate the humidity sensor (the outdoor temperature reading can be calibrated/offset via the thermostat itself). The original unit I purchased was always reading much higher humidity levels than actual. The replacement unit shows accurate readings.

At first I was a bit frustrated that Honeywell chose to use a proprietary wireless communications standard their REDlink protocol instead of WiFi, but I suppose now I understand why. All their little devices run on AA batteries, and WiFi would certainly use too much power. At any rate, this little guy shows the outside temp and humidity back to your Honeywell 'stat, in my case, a Prestige 2.0 HD. Very cool.

This unit and most of Frigidaire's Air Conditioners are junk. We bought one at Lowe's and said, "Wow what a Deal". Brought it home and put it in the window. It started up, and then the compressor kicked in after 3 minutes. So far so good. Then the 20 Amp circuit it is on blows. We reset and restarted. Now the compressor does not start. We try it in another 20 Amp circuit. Same thing, my little Lasko fan was better than this. Tried everything stated on forums and in manual. Nothing. Seems like it was the compressor that shorted out. Brought it back to Lowes. At the return counter there is 7 other Frigidaire Air Conditioners, all brought in on the same day according to the lady at the counter. She rolled her eyes and as if to say, "Oh no another Frigidaire". Gave us our money back no questions. Went to PC Richards, and bought a Friedrich for a bit more, but cools very nicely.

I have a 410 sq. ft. studio apartment. Although the AC is a bit noisy it easily handles the space. Even at 93 degrees, I only had to put it on medium. As of June 9, 2009 I mostly keep it on low with the thermostat at 75%. However the supplied filter is almost transparent and does not baffle the sound at all, So I moved the unit to a window as far from the TV as I could and bought, cut to size AC filter from Home Depot and laid it over top of the existing filter. It dropped the noise about 20%. For how well it works and as inexpensive as it is, a little noise is not so bad. After awhile you don't even think about it. It accually helps me sleep at night. If you want quiet out of the box. Spend double the money.

Other than the multi-fit aspect of this timer it is just fine. Had to take my old timer out first to look at the original wire placement and color coding to determine which way to wire new timer, but it was pretty easy to figure out. there is really not to many ways to wire the new one.

We bought this because of it's top rating in Counsumer Reports and the large backlighted display. Our hall is dark and previously the lights had to be turned on to check and adjust the thermostat. So far, it's lived up to it's top rating. The large lighted display is easy to read and the touch screen works very well. Temperature holds within 1 to 2 degrees and the displayed reading is accurate

Wiring connections are by use of pinch block clamps which made hook-up a snap. No looping wires around screw type binding posts. Another nice feature is a "Change Filter" prompt that can be programmed from 240 to 720 operating hours.

The only thing I miss is the lack of a "Current Setting" button. This can be usefull when the thermostat is in "Hold" mode to see at a glance what the temperature setting would be if the program were running; minor quibble. The manual is ok but could use improvement.

Overall, I'm very satisfied!

This controller replaces my old Honeywell programmable thermostat. I have a 4-wire system with forced air heat and AC.

It was a breeze to install, but the programming guide could use some work. It seems odd that after you select a start time, if you hit "next" to move over to the set point temperature without first pressing "yes" to acknowledge the program start time, it does not save the start time and instead goes back to the default time that was pre-programmed. So after every start time and temperature you change from the preset programming, you MUST press YES and then move on to adjusting the other programming functions. Why have a YES and a NEXT feature??? Change it to ENTER and delete a button.

That said, the large display, high Consumer Reports rating and backlighting make this a winner over most of the other programmable thermostats out there.

BTW I had a question that I e-mailed to LUX customer support on a Sunday night and had a response by lunch on Monday, so I'm not sure if the previous poster just had a bad customer support experience or if I just had a good one.

I just purchased this thermostat recently and I'm very satisfied with it. It only took about 30 minutes to install and installation was very easy. Also, programming the thermostat was very easy also. You can program up to 4 different temperatures each day for all 7 days of the week. I really like the touchscreen and the backlight is great at night. I previously has a really basic Hunter programmable thermostat, and this thing blows it away. Overall this is a great product.

The call was returned in 1-1/2 hours and a very knowledgeable staffer confirmed the install was correct. A quick trial of the control confirmed that it functioned as promised and although only in use a couple hours, I am thrilled with the functionality and interface of the device.
