This is a great indoor grill! Bought for my hubby who loves to grill but not in the snow. I decided to get this model with the broiler. We rarely use the broiler, but probably because we haven't researched what all we can do with a broiler. We rarely broil anything anyway. The grill does not smoke at all, and he can get his grill lines he wants too. This does cook fast, sort of like a george foreman fast. I thought he may use this occassionally, but we use it all the time for everything during the winter. Burgers, Steak, Chicken, shrimp, veggies, and fish, etc. We always mist with Pam before to avoid sticking, as we do with our outdoor grill. As the wife, I worried it would be a pain to clean. Not at all. The grill lifts off easily and a quick rinse,suds under running water and voila clean! We store in the pantry and it is lighter than it looks. We can easily grab it and put onto our countertop for cooking.

I purchased this grill at the beginning of the year. It is perfect for a family of four or when we want to grill two packages of hot dogs for a group. This product shows how a previously well thought of product name can fall victim to the greed of quick profits. This unit worked for all of 1 hour. The temperature control went bad and refused to heat above the warm level. Contact with the company proved a waste of time. There are no parts available for the product.

Simply replacing the control unit would have solved the problem, a simple matter, but their only approach was for me to shoulder the expense of shipping the unit to them. The cost easily exceeding the value of the unit when added on top of the initial cost.

Looking closely at the unit, the cheapness of construction was evident. I would recommend finding another brand.

After less than two years this unit broke down. Repeated heating and cooling caused the plastic pressure valve to break and I can't find a replacement so I have downgraded my review from 3 to 2 stars. The following represents an earlier opinion:

"After over five years of service my Farberware electric pressure cooker finaly broke down. The electrical conection to the heating unit (cooking pot) was not well reinforced and (as the cast aluminum pot was heavy) it finally broke.

The Deni fixes this problem with a completely different design with no stress being put on electrical connections lifting the pot out of the unit.

However, I still prefer the Farberware unit and would choose it over the Deni. When using the cooker in pressure cook mode the seal does not always operate correctly. This can cause the food to cook indefinitely without ever reaching pressure. The timer does not shut the unit down after the food has been cooked but turns it to warm. Food can continue to slowly cook for hours. This is aggravated by a timer beep that is hard to hear.

Further, the unit was advertised as stainless steel but it appears to me that the cook pot is aluminum. This is something of a concern as teflon linings wear out and there is a reported link between aluminum and Alzheimers.

I've used a pressure cooker for many years and swear by them. This unit is satisfactory but I wish for the cost they'd put just a little more thought into the design."

I purchased the Deni appliance and LOVED it. Then it broke after a few months of use. I would set the timer to say 40 min and skip off to take care of other things and when I would return to check on it, the timer still said 40 minutes! A couple of times I didn't release the pressure in time to prevent the food from thoroughly burning. SO I sent it back at a cost of $20 in postage. Six weeks later, Deni sent a replacement. THIS ONE NEVER WORKED!!! The replacement had a defective electronic keypad that makes no noise when you push the buttons and doesn't count down or shut off. The food will burn every time unless I set my oven timer and check on my own to see its progress. For as much as I paid, I'm not willing to do that. The second one is going back too.

I love this pot ! I cook a lot of Ethnic dishes, where this pot comes in handy in pre-cooking many meats, 'rooty' veggies, legumes etc. I also use it as a 'regular' pot with another lid, simply because it is big and not extremely heavy to handle. It is electric, saving me a stove burner when I have to cook several things at the same time. Generally, I am very satisfied with the DENI products I own.

I got this thermostat to use with a Mr. Heater 45,000 BTU gas heater from Northern Tool. The thermostat that was offered as an accessory with the heater had a range of 50-90 degrees. I want my garage just above freezing most of the time. I'll turn it up when working in it. The Honeywell Low Temperature Garage thermostat is good match for my heater. I've found it makes a big difference on how much the heater runs with the thermostat set at 35 or 50, so this thermostat will save a lot of gas. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the temperature scale is in a kind of compromise location between the thermometer needle and the temperature setting lever, and doesn't quite make sense with either of them.

Great in concept--allows you to keep a garage as low as 35 degrees F--most thermostats go only as low as 45 degrees F. BUT, any thermostat needs graduated markings that can be aligned with the temperature pointer. The temperature scale shows every 5 degrees, but there's no way to align the pointer with the temperature scale. I sure would like to set it at 40 degrees, but I can't.

This was very easy to install and makes it possible to completely cut off the heat to a room which the others didn't (they'd automatically kick on if the temp fell below the unit minimum, 50 degrees).

Anyhow, I've been using two of them for over a year and it's still fine, even with our b&b guests yanking on them and abusing them.

I wanted a simple to install thermostat to replace the aging, mercury switched Honeywell items that control our heat and cooling. After researching I decided that a simple weekly timer is good enough, and certainly better that what we had originally. The RTH221B shows the current temperature and can be set to adjust the temperature when you wake, leave, return and night. It is simple to use with 15 minute increments.

Installation says "15 minutes or under" and I found this to be true.

To install:

Turn off power to furnace and thermostat (although it is a low voltage feed, you MUST still do this)

Unscrew the original thermostat from the wall but leave wires attached

Check the color of the wires and which terminals they attach to on the original (look for small letters W,R,Y,Rc etc)

Mark the wires (if needed) with the stickers provided in the package

Unhook wires from the original

Remove backing plate from new thermostat, thread wires through hole and place against wall

Attach backing plate using screws and wall plugs provided

Put 2 x AAA batteries(NOT supplied)in the faceplate

Attach previously marked wired to the matching terminals at the back of the faceplate

Snap faceplate onto backing plate

Read instructions for setting time and programs

Turn power to furnace back on

Pros: cheap, easy to install, good instructions

Cons: would have been nice to include 2 x AAA batteries

Overall a good buy. I fitted one as a test and then bought 3 more.

Being retired, and having an old failed Honeywell 5/2 day thermostat, we replaced it with this 7-day model for heating only. It was simple enough to replace. The twin wiring was identical and so were the wall mounting hole centers. The directions for set-up were fairly clear. My one beef is that the new thermostat lacks back lighting which the old one had. The letters are small enough where one needs a flashlight during setup, requiring three hands at times, and is awkward for those of us with just two hands. Omitting the back light is inexcusable since the 5/2 twin RTH2300 DOES have back lighting. Another caution is that you need a tiny screwdriver to turn the wire set screws. I happen to have one but I would guess few people do.

The thermostat is easy to install, programing. I had one for about 2 months and it work as programmed. I discover one additional advantage during Winter storm Nemo. We lost power to 5 days, the Honeywell thermometer is able to show actual house temperature below 50F, while my old mercury one did not. I have nothing but problems with the 44668 thermostat. I had the first one for less than a month and it started resetting itself. Hunter replaced it with a second one which after a few weeks lost communication with the remote sensor (had to reset unit), left the blower running in the house (had to reset unit), and finally stopped controling the system with an error 004. (Hunter Customer service didn't know what error 004 even meant).

Refusing to refund my money, Hunter is now sending me a third one. I politely told them that if I had problems with that one, I would escalate my problem within Hunter to demand my money back.

By the way, I ordered this through Amazon and CPO who is a Hunter distributor and I would like to point out their ridiculous '30 day money back guarantee' copy and pasted it says:

"All unused items can be returned within 30 days of shipment for a refund or exchange (unless otherwise noted at the time of sale). Items must be returned in their original packaging. If an item was shipped free of charge you will be billed for the cost of the original shipping."

Note the word 'unused'. How do you see if you like a thermostate, much less if it works properly, without using it? Statements like this discourage people from buying through the internet. I would have bought this at local retail but I couldn't find this particular model. If I had, it would be back to the store and I would have my money back.

I usually don't write reviews like this, but so far my experience with Hunter has been less than stellar.

I'll see if the third one works (which by the way takes almost two weeks for them to send).

Well, this saga started last May and I still can't get one of these thermostats to be reliable. I have tried three of them now and as of yesterday Hunter Customer Service is refusing to refund my money. I could write a book over what has occurred between now and last May when this started, but suffice to say that the people at Hunter Customer service in Memphis Tn are pretty useless and will say anything to try and make you go away. I could name names, but I won't. My last conversation was with one of the supervisors.

This morning I filed a formal complaint with the Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs to see if they can mediate a solution for this. Its unfortunate that a company like Hunter who generally has such a good name for quality is being ruined by a bunch of incompetent people at their customer service center.

I just bought two of these for only $69.95 each at my local Sam's Club. My problem with my regular thermostats is that they're located in the hallway/living area which are in the middle of my 2 story home. At night, the bedrooms (on the sides of my home) become either colder in the winter or hotter in the summer than the middle of the house so the thermostats don't control the bedroom temperature well. With this thermostat, I can program it to control the heater/AC by using the wireless remote sensors I keep in the bedrooms, making the bedroom temps just right. The thermostat also has it's own temperature sensor built in. During the day, we are mainly in the hallways/living areas so I have the thermostat use it's own temperature to regulate the living area temperature. Also, another awesome feature is this thermostat doesn't need someone to turn on the heater during the winter or the AC in the summer. You set it to turn the heater on if it's below a certain temp, say 72 and turn the AC on if it's too hot, like say 78. So your house will always stay between 72 and 78! It doesn't matter if you suddenly have a cold or hot spell in the spring time, the thermostat will accurately provide hands-free control of the heater/AC.

It also tells you to change the air filter after 500 total hours of heater + AC time.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I had 1 defective remote sensor. My thermostat wouldn't pick up the defective remote sensor temperature. After debugging it for 1 hr, I called tech support and after 3 minute of talking with tech support, they agreed with me that it was defective and I had to exchange for a new one. I didn't have any thermostat program resetting problem like the other reviewer.

Ok, here is the deal. I love the remote temperature sensor. It really compensates for only having one unit in a two-story house. However, for some reason the main unit arbitrarily resets its self or changes settings. I spent over an hour setting up a custom program and within a couple of weeks the unit reset and went back to factory defaults. I repeated the process only to have the same reset problem days later. I now have it set at 70 and leave it alone.

I am still happy with the second sensor but feel like the programmability option is a waste. I have called customer service but hung up before getting to a real person. I will be calling them again when I have more time to waste.

I'll give you the summary first, because my review became quite long: After one day with this unit, I will say that it's a great thermostat. Programming it is fairly intuitive. If you need remote sensors because of lousy thermostat positioning or because you want to set up multiple heat zones in your house, this is the thermostat for you. My complaints are with the documentation, which is quite poor.

The full review: I received and installed my Hunter 44668 last night, and everything has gone smoothly so far. I'm pretty impressed. I would give this product a 5-star review, but the user's manual knocks it down to 4-stars overall. If I was rating it on the user's manual alone, I would only give that 2 stars. I can definitely understand why other people have complained.

There are inconsistencies and omissions in the manual that should never have made it to the publisher. It's like the manual was written by a college intern and never proof-read. Sometimes the button you're supposed to press is shown in-line with the text of a particular step. Sometimes the button is shown in a column to the left of the instruction steps. Sometimes the buttons pictured in the left column don't line up with the steps in which they're supposed to be pressed. Sometimes the button picture is missing entirely, and the button you're supposed to press has to be inferred from the section title! It's a complete disaster.

I was lucky because I had read through the entire manual TWICE before I tried to program the thermostat--I read it once online before I bought it because I wanted to see what people's reviews were talking about, and then again a couple days later after it arrived, before I tried to program it. By the time I got around to pushing buttons, I had come to terms with some of the inconsistencies in the manual, and was prepared to compensate for them during programming. The process went pretty much flawlessly, and I actually got the unit installed and running in record time (for me).

I figure there are probably 3 types of people installing this unit... 1) people with lots of previous experience installing setback thermostats who will only bother to look at the manual as a last resort if the unit does something unexpected, 2) people who take the time to study the manual and work through its shortcomings, and 3) people who are going to depend on the manual to be correct because they're reading it for the first time and following it step-by-step as they try to install it and program it. The first group will be fine, because the actual setup is pretty intuitive if you've installed these things before. The second group will be fine, as I've demonstrated myself. But if you're in the third group, this thermostat is likely to frustrate you massively, and I would actually recommend avoiding it based on that.

So what do I like about this thermostat? I like the remote temperature sensors! I have a counterflow furnace in my house, which means the heat registers are in the floors and the cold air return is in the ceiling. Some wise guy mounted the thermostat in the hallway directly under the cold air return. There is literally a wall of cold air exactly where the thermostat is mounted, and at that location no thermometer is capable of determining with any accuracy the actual temperature of the house. As soon as the furnace shuts off, the attic cools the cold air return duct, and cold air starts falling out of the ceiling right onto the thermostat. When the furnace runs, it can raise the temperature of the rest of the house 6-8 degrees. But with that wall of cold air in the hallway, the thermostat won't budge a single degree! I needed to get the thermometer out of the hallway. However, I didn't want to yank the wire up out of the wall and fish it down in another wall somewhere else to move the thermostat. The remote sensor included with the 44668 is exactly the solution I need.

If you're buying this thermostat specifically to use the remote sensor, then one thing you need to realize up front is that the remote sensor comes pre-configured as an outdoor thermometer and NOT as an indoor thermostat. Step one, while you're working through the Options prior to programming, is to reconfigure the base unit to correctly recognize the sensor as an indoor sensor. Once I got that straight, the programming went smoothly.

Next, the omissions. One cool feature of this thermostat is that for any given program setpoint, it can read a single sensor or an average of multiple sensors. This isn't fully explained anywhere in the manual, it gets only the briefest of mention. You control the feature with the "sensor" button, and at any point while programming the unit, you can press the sensor button to walk through all the options for that setpoint. The options are: the built-in sensor (BI), remote sensor 1 (R1), remote sensor 2 (R2), BI+R1, BI+R2, R1+R2, and BI+R1+R2. Very nice, but not in the manual. And there doesn't seem to be any guard against choosing sensors that don't exist. For instance, all the R2 options were available on mine, even though I don't have an R2 running.

Another omission in the manual is the jumper wire supplied in the baggie with the screws and wall anchors. OK, it's red-colored. That's as much info as you get (assuming you're not color blind), because it's presence is not mentioned anywhere in the section about wiring the unit. In the back of the manual, where the wiring diagrams are shown (why are the wiring diagrams separate from the wiring instructions?), the jumper is shown wired between the RH and R1/RC pins in FIVE of the six wiring methods pictured, even including the 2-wire heat-only setup that my house uses! But is it supposed to be there or not? Does the thermostat get damaged if it's not present? I have no idea whatsoever. The instructions didn't say to install it, so I didn't, and my furnace is running. I just have to hope no damage is being done. Unanswered questions.

So, if you've managed to read this far, I'll finish with one subtle point I haven't seen anyone else talk about... The display backlight. This unit has an electroluminescent display backlight (think Timex Indiglo), and it works great. A nice feature. However, the manual says the backlight is *powered* by the 24V power from the furnace. The manual doesn't come right out and say it, but the way I read it, if you have a millivolt control system, you're out of luck. The display backlight won't work for you at all. Something to be aware of.

This product was just what I wanted. At night we only wanted to heat the bedroom with a small space heater and let the rest of the house stay cool. We programmed the unit to regulate via the remote sensor during sleeping hours and now the furnace keeps the rest of the house cool while our room stays toasty with the small monitor heater. Before it was a balancing act to keep the room regulated, then the furnace would kick on and the room would get way too warm.

Many people have claimed the unit is very hard to program. It is virtually the same as other programmable thermostats I have used. The most important part is to write down what you want the program to do before you start programming. Then take it 1 day at a time.

The only confusion I had was setting up the remote sensor. At first I could not select the symbol for "T1" (the auxillary sensor) for my nighttime program hours. The unit came pre-programmed as if the extra sensor was to read outside temperature. You cannot program the furnace based on outside temperature or it would run constantly! I had to go to the options menu and change the sensor settings. I changed the outdoor temp sensor channel to -(meaning no outdoor sensor) and that the external "T1" sensor was channel 15 (the channel on the display of my auxilary sensor). If you have 2 or 3 extra sensors, then you have to set each temperature to the corresponding channel on the various sensors. After I set the sensor up correctly, it allowed me to select "T1" for my nighttime program.

Again, decide what you want to do before diving into the programming. What worked best for me was using the "everyday" programming mode to set up all of the days the same. Then I went back through each day and made small adjustments based on our schedules.

It works like a charm and at this price, there is no other comparison to it. Even a standard 5-2 programmable thermostat will cost more! Kudos to MarkDownAlley for good pricing and fast delivery!

This is a very elegant and realistic looking fire place. It has different settings for temperature from 62-82 and a timer if you want to use from 30min to 9hours. It also has separate settings for the flames and for the logs, making them look like they are burning bright and hot or dimming them down to look like they are about to go out. You can also turn on the heater without having the flames or effects on. It's pretty quiet, sounding like air blowing from a fan but not loud or annoying. Putting together can be a challenge and some parts may need two people. The cam bolt and cam lock are the ones I had trouble with, not all of them wanted to lock, but enough of them did to make it feel sturdy. A little note when putting it together, don't apply to much pressure you can easily crack or go through the wood. Other than that it looks nice and heats up the room well and everything can be controlled by a little remote.

I bought this thermostat because the temperature on the top landing of my stairs where the original thermostat was located was totally different than in our master bedroom and kids' room. With this thermostat system, the temperature is based on wherever I put the wireless unit. We keep it unmounted on the nightstand. Here are some clarifications of things I could not find elsewhere or took a long time to find out.

1. A common wire is needed. This is the wire that provides electricity to the thermostat. Not all thermostats need this wire nor are all HVAC systems wired with one. Some basic units do not have a common wire. An easy way to figure out if you have one is to pop off the face of your current thermostat and see if there is anything connected to the terminal marked with a "C". If not, you do not have a common wire or at least it is not connected. If you have some spare wires, you can easily connect the other end to the C terminal on your furnace. Without the C wire, this unit will not work.

2. The system is easy to install. I'm no electrician or even much of a handyman, but simple logic makes this an easy install. Just put the wire in the C terminal on your current thermostat to C terminal on this unit. W to W, and so on.

3. The return air sensor is not necessary. If you don't know what this is, don't worry.

4. The large grey piece with the red on the bottom is what mounts to the wall where your existing thermostat/wires are. It's pretty large compared to a thermostat, but it doesn't look bad. The unit with the controls and green face is what can be moved around to any room and the thermostat/furnace will operate based on the temperature wherever this unit is.

Installation and programming was very simple. Only negative was that the thermostat and controller won't reconnect after power cycle. You have to manually push the connect button. There is a duct sensor for this issue.

The kit works a lot better than a 20-dollar basic thermostat which takes some time to "think" and start or stop the system.

We had a wired thermostat in the hallway of the bedroom wing of our home. My wife was wanting the thermostat moved from the hallway to the master bedroom. I thought a wireless thermostat would allow that move and also allow for the thermostat to be moved again if that became necessary.

My original idea was to replace the wired thermostat in the hallway with the Equipment Interface Module (EIM). This would be an easy swap-out and since the wiring was already in place would minimize the time needed for the job. It should be noted that the thermostat wire I had in my wall had all the wires needed to hook up everything in this kit including the return air sensor wiring. That may not be the case for others.

When I pulled the EIM out of the box I realized that mounting it in the hallway wasn't an option. This thing is pretty big around 8 inches square and about an inch deep. Being grey, red & large, it didn't exactly blend into the wall. I didn't need my spouse to tell me that this thing wasn't going to work in the hallway even I could figure that out.

The good news is the EIM can go almost anywhere. So I mounted it on a basement floor joist, below the bedrooms and not far from the furnace. Installation was straight forward. As noted in other reviews, the EIM requires a connection that some thermostats do not the "C" connection. This is the 24 volt ground connection and was labeled "T" on my furnace.

After I installed the components, I programed the thermostat and everything is working like a champ. My wife is very pleased with the ability to place the thermostat anywhere she wants it.

We have bought two of these units. Like most everything we have bought from DeLonghi, they work well, and they stand behind their products.

Don't be fooled by some who have posted here, who obviously don't get out much. These are space heaters, small space heaters, good enough for a small bedroom or large bath.

Our Master Bath is on the large size, whirlpool tub, seperate tiled shower, double vanity, etc. This unit works more than well at keeping us toasty, without having to over-heat the rest of the house. We have also used it in our RV, and it works well there as well.

After reading some of the other reviews, I think some of the other purchasers don't understand how convection heating works. Convection heaters don't give a burst of heat, they heat the air in a room, making them ideal for people who will be moving around. They are not a good fit for people who will be seated and want to direct hot air at themselves. They also need some time to heat the air in the room.

These are excellent heaters. We bought two, and loved them so much I just ordered two more. A single unit keeps a 10x15 room nicely warm using the low setting. This despite a bank of very inefficient windows. They are silent, and very energy efficient, since they use the fact that hot air rises to move the air through the heater. They are pretty big, but are very attractive.

I bought this heater to heat the 400 sq.ft. second floor of my 100-year-old house. I have hot water radiators that heat the first floor just fine, but the old boiler has a difficult time getting the water all the way up to the second floor so I have used fan style space heaters for years. I decided to upgrade to this convection heater and cannont believe the difference. It heats the entire second floor fairly evenly and does not dry the air like the fan heaters did. It looks nice too, which is a nice added bonus. I would recommend it to anyone looking to supplement their heating system.

I bought this early for winter, didn't need to use until two weeks after purchase. It worked great the first four nites then stopped. Now it won't turn on. I called the seller on day 30 after the ORDER date (not ship date, not received date) asking for an exchange or refund. The rep clucked on the phone about it being thirty days, took my info and promised a call back. A week later, no call back. I can't get through on DeLonghi's number, I'm put straight into a hold queue and after half an hour I hang up. This item is definitely not worth the money, and Polstein's is an equally unreliable seller with zero customer service.

I have a small house and unfortunately a new, expensive powerful, loud forced air gas heat furnace. I had it put in mainly for the air conditioning factor, but soon regretted the blasts of dry hot air last winter. I missed my old hot water radiatior heaters. I stumbled on this by accident. I liked the looks, I know DeLonghi's reputation so I took a chance boaasting to everyone that I would never use my furnace again. And to my surprise, I won't !! lol This is a great looking, quiet, safe little heater and it heats my 450 sq. ft. house well. A nice toasty warm, natural heat, without all the dryness. As the winter progresses and it becomes colder I may need a second heater but as of now it suits me just fine. I have a fireplace that also provides some heat. So my recommendation to those of you despairing over the cost of a furnace system: Forget it. I would have had I know about these !

Ok.. I took away a star only because the lid of this item has no locking mechanism. It can be dangerous if you take this on a picnic or have children that may be curious, as it can pour hot water all over you if you accidentally push the button or press the pump! It's a major flaw!

Other than that, I LOVE this air pot. It stays on my kitchen counter and I don't take it anywhere. It has been on and running since the day I got it (months ago) and I always have hot water, which is important if you have a baby, who drinks formula all day! :)

If they could add some kind of a locking system to this unit it'll be perfect!

Functionality:

I just had the T5800 Color Touch thermostat installed yesterday by my HVAC person and I love it. I love that the mobile app and website utility allows me to control my thermostat away from home, see usage info, send a message to be displayed on the thermostat screen, and other features. One suggestion I do have for the user interface is that while the mobile app/website utility allows you to turn vacation mode on or off, it does not allow you to set the start date and end date for your vacation. Setting up the start date and end date is something you have to do at home. I'm not sure if on/off feature for vacation mode from the mobile app bypasses any dates that might be stored in the thermostat and turns it on/off, or if the dates that are already setup are taken into account. It would be nice to know that. As a user and being busy with packing for my trip and such, I'm thinking that I might forget to setup the vacation schedule before leaving home and would want to do that later on after I leave home.

Internet Connection:

In regards to the internet connection, I was able to successfully set it up and test the mobile app to verify it was working. However, later in the day, I noticed that the internet connection was not working. I was not able to login with the mobile app and I saw a red X in the upper right hand corner of the thermostat screen, indicating that the internet connection was not working. I don't know what caused this; perhaps it's due to the nature of wifi, such that wifi tends to be intermittent and goes on/off at times. I tried repeatedly to make it work, but couldn't. I tried pressing the reset button on my wireless router and trying the setup process on the thermostat, but did not have success. I then tried power cycling the thermostat by removing the front part of the thermostat and putting it back on again, and running through the setup. But it could not connect. The Accessory Info screen seemed to indicate that it could not connect to skyport. The following morning, I then tried to reboot my wireless router again by clicking a button within the web interface for my router on my computer. I also tried to login to my venstar account on my computer to see if that worked, and it did. I then went through the wifi setup process again on the thermostat and finally it worked! I just hope this connection issue doesn't happen anymore. One other comment regarding the wifi connection is that I saw on the box that the wifi key came in, indicated that it's compatible with 802.11b/g. The wireless router I have is 802.11n, which seems to work fine. But, 802.11n has been on the market for a while and I'm surprised that the wifi key was not designed to also take advantage of that.

FirmWare Updates:

I have one comment in regards to how firmware updates need to be made. You have to use the Color Touch Assistant software to save the firmware settings to an SD card and import it, by plugging it in the SD slot on the thermostat. Considering that this device is wifi capable, you'd think that you it would be able to download the firmware update wirelessly and install it, when selected by the user. I have other devices that already do this.

The product support at Venstar is very fast and good. Whenever I emailed Venstar support for questions or issues, the responses were pretty quick and they were helpful.

I have a vacation home in Maine that I go to most weekends. During the colder months, it is always so chilly in the house when I arrive on the weekends because we leave the heat set at a lower temp to save on fuel when we're not there. But, after installing this wifi key and the Venstar T5800 colortouch thermostat...I can now adjust the heat up to a comfy temperature long before I arrive. It's fairly easy to set up the unit (as long as you have all the correct wires) and the online account is easy to use from my iphone, ipad, or laptop.

I love the ability to pickup my iPhone and modify the settings on my home thermostat while away. This allows for better conservation while away but also a warm home upon return.

Unfortunately, the Wifi Key utilizes the same connector as a backup SD card. Therefore, if one chooses to backup with a SD card the wifi password with have to be reentered into the Wifi Key upon reinsertion.

I have been using this thermostat for a few weeks and it connects to my network and controls my HVAC well most of the time. The problem is that the battery backup does not work in some of these units. I have now tried four different batteries and have had a new version of the thermostat shipped to me from Amazon. Same problem. The biggest problem with this is that the unit will not function after a power outage until the date & time are reset. This means that if your power goes out while you area way from home, there is no way to turn the hvac system on without getting home to reset the data/time. To make matters worse, Honeywell refuses to provide an technical support, stating that this is not a consumer product and must be installed by a licensed technician. This is really frustrating.

I purchased 3 of these and they work great. I replaced Honeywell touch screen thermostats that looked and operate nearly identical to theses so the operation was something I was familiar with. Linking them up to MiCasa z Wave was simple. I did a full power link to the z wave network and never had to move the MiCasa controller to the thermostats.

I can now look up and control current temperatures for each of the three thermostats from my IPhone, computer and I pad very conveniently.

One thing worthy of knowing... the units have 7 days programing with 4 different setting per day. The 4 daily time settings (time slots) and the temperatures per slot are all adjustable. You can also put the thermostat on permanent hold.

The previous thermostats had provisions where you could hold a temperature for a specified number of days, then it would revert back to its normal cycle. I would use this if I was going to be away from the property for say a week or two and wanted it to return to my desired temperature for my return. My arrival didn't always perfectly coincide but it was close and worked ok. These new thermostats only have permanent holds. No holds for a specified number of days. But now it doesn't matter because I can control it remotely. When the thermostat is NOT in permanent hold, your remote changes last only until the next time slot. If the thermostat is on permanent hold, the remote changes the temperature and keeps it there. It doesn't not get automatically altered by the next time slot setting. This works fine, you just need to know how it works as the book doesn't not adequately describe this.

All in all, a wonderful unit.

I just replaced my two Honeywell Thermostats with the Honeywell TH8320ZW1007/U Z-Wave Enabled Programmable Thermostat . The old thermostat, a Honeywell TH8321U1006 VisionPRO Universal, had a "more" display that showed humidity and days left to change the filter. The Z-Wave version doesn't have the "more" display. Otherwise they are quite similar. The Z-Wave thermostat base is slightly larger than the older Honeywell unit, so I did have to move the wires from the old base to the new base. The units paired just fine with a Vera 2 controller and I'm accessing the thermostats from my iPhone using iVera. The iPhone display doesn't show the fan status even though I run both HVAC systems with the fans ON all the time.

In my setup I have a Trane 2-stage gas furnace/air conditioner on the bottom 2 floors and a Trane heat pump/emergency electrical heat on the top 2 floors of a townhouse. Installation and programming took about half an hour for each thermostat. Pairing went fast once I figured out the flashing light sequence in the Vera 2 to determine when to tell the thermostat to pair.

I've only had this setup 2 days now, but it is really nice to be able to monitor and control the furnace from the iPhone from anywhere. I'm anxious to add more z-wave devices to the house. These thermostats were my first two z-wave devices. I did download a plug-in that allows the Vera 2 to capture data from a TED 5000 gateway via the IP network in the house. So the integration of the thermostats with the power monitoring device worked well.

These thermostats are wonderful and if you are used to the non-Z-wave Honeywell Thermostats you will really like the Z-Wave version.

I've been running this thermostat for over a year now. It has worked extremely well. The only hassle that has occurred is that the thermostat lost "connectivity" 2 times during the year. Once after a long power outage and another time when I added other z-wave devices. To get the thermostats to "communicate" I had to unplug the thermostat from the base and then plug it back to the base. For some reason the date and time then have to be manually reset. The remaining programming stays. So I still feel this is a really good thermostat, but I've dropped the rating from 5 to 4 stars because the thermostat doesn't attempt to reestablish connectivity without a power cycle and it doesn't keep the date and time with a power cycle.

Purchased this thermostat through Amazon last month and my HVAC contractor installed it a couple days ago. So far it seems to function as described except that the LCD screen is defective in one corner (which does not seem to affect functionality). I contacted Honeywell support to have the thermostat exchanged since the Amazon 30 day return period expired. They stated this thermostat is NOT for sale to the end user and they will only honor the warranty if purchased through an authorized HVAC professional. Its great to see Z-Wave thermostats go mainstream and offer great features. When I was considering upgrading my existing Z-Wave thermostat, I considered several other "new" thermostats, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat T100577, but I had invested so much in my Z-Wave network I really wanted to stick to that type.

This Honeywell thermostat replaced an older Z-Wave Thermostat I bought several years ago, the Wayne-Dalton WDTC-20 HomeSettings Controls Thermostat. Both units cost about the same money, but the amount of progress made in 3 years is astounding.

Like the Wayne-Dalton Thermostat, I chose to have this Honeywell one installed professionally. Unlike the Wayne-Dalton one, which was almost impossible to install (you can read the reviews to see why), my heating/cooling folks put this on in about 15 minutes.

This what I love about the Honeywell:

Touchscreen! Nothing, of course, like an iPhone or iPad touch screen, but completely responsive and solid feeling.

Large screen so easy to read (I chose to keep the backlight on continuously (no timing out)

Filter reminder, with many options (days running, calendar days, etc).

Adaptive intelligent recovery

Ability to have fan run all the day, only when unit is cooling/heating, or at a set interval

And of course, the Z-Wave function. I'm using 5 year old software Leviton CCTEP-20W ControlThink ThinkEssentials 2.1 Professional with ThinkStick but I'm still able to set "normal" and "energy-saving" features for both heating and cooling. The Honeywell is immediately responsive to Z wave commands (the Wayne-Dalton took a few minutes go think about it...)

The one negative is that there are many options, but none of them are available through intuitive menus on the screen. Instead you have to put in specific codes provided by the instruction manual. Clearly, the idea here is to have your installer do the programming for you, but as a gadget freak, I wanted to do all the programming. Once you figure out how to do one, you can do them all. Just don't lose the instruction manual!

In sum, the Honeywell has everything I want, both in terms of a good Thermostat and in terms of a Z-Wave device.
