Our bedroom happens to be the coldest room in our house, so going to bed in the winter time was a dance of quickly throwing our clothes off and jumping into our cold bed, shivering for 10 minutes to make it tolerably warm.

My wife and I were a little skeptical as to what a heated mattress pad could do, but were pleasantly surprised! This particular model has been very good to us we turn it on high a half hour or so prior to bedtime, and are greeted with a warm bed. It seems to heat more at the foot of the bed, and tapers off near the head which is perfect!

I'm thinking of getting these for some of my chronically cold friends and family!

The 10 hour shutoff is a nice touch as well there have been times when I forget to turn it off, and knowing it turns off by itself is a relief.

I've had mattress pads for years now and my last one was a Biddeford so when I needed to replace it, I went with the same brand. The first one I received barely heated up but then it only lasted for 2 days and quit working at all. Amazon was great about replacing it and when the 2nd one came, it was barely warm to the touch after heating up for 1 hour so I returned it too, afraid it would quit working as quickly as the first. I will buy another mattress pad but it won't be Biddeford.

My husband and I were given one of these for Christmas one year... loved it on cold nights, but we moved it to our spare room for guests since it's always colder in that room. Since then many of our guests have inquired where to get this wonderful product. I purchased this one as a gift for my Mom. After staying a few days with us she just loved the fact she could turn on her side of the bed without my Dad getting overheated. It's a great product we love it our guests love it!

Honest reviews on Biddeford Quilted "Skirt" Heated Mattress Pad

We received this mattress pad as a gift and were initially very happy with the product. After a few weeks the pad began shutting off (showing an "E" on the controller) within a few hours of it being turned on. This only happened on one side at first and then began happening on both sides. I called the company and they suggested that I switch the controllers to opposite sides to see if they were the problem. After trying this for a few nights the problem remained. We were offered a replacement so I mailed the original back to the company. The shipping was around $30. The new one arrived and unfortunately the same problem occurred within only a few nights (literally three) of using it. We tried the cord switch again with no success. This time around the pad would shut off more quickly than the first one. I called Biddeford to ask them about replacement and they are willing to replace the product. Their warranty is five years and that seems adequate to me. However, I am not happy about the fact that I am responsible for yet another $30 shipping fee to send it back. When I asked if they would cover the shipping due to the fact that this is my second replacement within the original mattress pad's warranty, I was firmly told no. Paying over $60 in shipping feels very excessive to me. Perhaps I am over-reacting about that cost, but I feel like the product is being purchased twice with all of the shipping costs. I couldn't recommend the product in and of itself because it's not reliable. I am still not feeling good about the customer service either.

I bought a Bidford mattress pad, the bottom half does not heat and the controls stop working. I was sent a replacement control and within 3 months it did not work. I have called several times and no one answers they state they will call back and they never do. This heated pad is made in China and some work well and others don't so why take the chance.

Cooling works fine but it is extremely noisy. It is difficult to sleep with this air conditioner on. Portability is good.

I utilize this in a very small office (18' x 15'). The unit easily keeps the office cool all day. Has a strong blower. Sometimes it gets downright cold in this space. Very little maintenance. Nice in that it can plug into a simple, standard 110V outlet. Runs strong. The remote that comes with it is very handy to adjust the settings without having to constantly walk over to the unit.

Distributes the air uniformly. Great choice.

The only problem I have with this air conditioner is that one of its castors was broken upon arrival. (The castors are not very easy to remove.) I seriously thought about returning it for that reason. However, it does work as advertised. It is comfortable in here, and it is 85 degrees outdoors and very humid. I use it and two ceiling fans in a 525 sq ft apartment that has only a front door, closest doors, and a bathroom door -no kitchen nor bedroom door. So you might as well say that the apartment has an open design. It is noisy, but I've never had a quiet air conditioner. I'm good at just tuning it out.

Honest reviews on 11000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner

This is a powerful, winter temperature feeling air conditioner. It's extraordinary. It's only con is that it's very loud, but who cares it's either noisy or fainty.

I received my order of 5 Honeywell TL8230A1003 Electric Heat Thermostat Line Voltage Digital 7 day programmable thermostats one week after I placed the order. The units arrived well packaged, are solidly built and are much nicer and smaller than they appear onscreen. I had a licensed electrician install all 5 a week ago, replacing my 25-year-old units. The electrician had never seen this particular thermostat before, but because of the straightforward installation guide coupled with his experience, it only took about 20 minutes to install the first unit, and about 15 for each of the remaining 4. Within minutes I had them all programmed!

The Honeywell TL8230A1003 Electric Heat Thermostat Line Voltage Digital 7 day programmable thermostats are incredibly easy to program, and have icons that correspond to different functions (i.e., comfort mode, night mode, away/vacation, manual, etc.). I consider myself to be very "tech-savvy" and don't like to read manuals if I don't have to. With this product, I was able to figure out how to use every function, with minimal time, and without having to study the instructions (which, by the way, is just a front-to-back insert). Further, because they are connected to the heating unit power supply, there are no batteries to change. The only down side to this is that in the event of a power outage, I believe all the programming will need to re-done. Still, it's a minor inconvenience.

The most wonderful thing about these thermostats is the ability to program 4 different times for each day of the week. Though they come pre-programmed, re-programming is completely customizable. For example, for Monday and Tuesday, I can set the three downstairs units to come on at 5AM, go off just before I leave home, come on again an hour before I return and go off again an hour after I go to bed. I set the living room and dining room units to only come on in the evening. For Saturday, I program a totally different set of times, and on Sunday, yet another set of times. The thermostat also has an "On/Off" switch that allows me to turn them off if I don't want the timed setting(s) to come on, as well as a "manual" function that allows me to completely override the programmed setting and increase or decrease the desired temperature. The thermostat is also EXTREMELY QUIET when switching on and off in timed modes, and has a backlighting feature accessible by a long bar-type button on the face of the unit perfect for checking temps in the dark. Each of the setting buttons is made of non-slip rubber so fingers won't accidentally slide off during programming. The buttons are small, though, and there is no backlighting for the buttons. The only caveat is to be careful not to press the "clear" button unless you actually WANT to clear a setting. This button is not in a separate area of the unit, and I inadvertently cleared one of the programmed times.

All in all, I am very satisfied with this product. What a great feeling to wake up in the morning or come home in the evening to a warm home! And the cost savings as a result of being able to use heat only when and where I need it are sure to be another benefit. I'm so pleased with these new thermostats that I've recommended them to two of my neighbors/friends, and I expect that they will purchase new sets within the next couple of weeks!

To summarize,

Pros:

Small and sleek

Easy and quick to install by licensed technician

Easy-to-understand icons

Nice "green-glow" backlight

Fully customizable programming up to 4 time settings for each day of the week

Programming buttons have non-slip surfaces

On/Off switch

Extremely quiet

No batteries to replace ever!

Cons:

No battery backup

Programming buttons are small and not backlit

"Clear" button is not in separate area of the unit

Honeywell purchased Aube, a Canadian manufacturer of thermostats and heating/cooling products, several years ago. This thermostat is a rebranded and upgraded version of one of Aube's products.

I purchased seven of them when we moved into our home in 2003. The installation was truly easy, and I found the programming intuitive. There are some shortcuts built into the programming: for example, if you want the heat to come up at the same time every morning, hold down the "DAY" button and after a few moments you will see all seven days indicated on the screen. Individual alterations per day can be made afterward.

The "adaptive start time" feature means that the thermostat records how long it took to reach its setpoint--if it failed to reach it by the programmed time it starts a little earlier the next time. If it overshot, it will start a little later next time. That makes your living space comfortable at the times you use it, and in practice we just expect the room will be heated when we enter it.

REVISION: It was called to my attention that this thermostat does not drop voltage to the heater in any way. I have revised this paragraph to reflect what I learned from Aube-Honeywell technical support:

The feature that really saves energy is "Proportional Integral Adaptive" control (or "PIA"). Old thermo-couple thermometers are either "on" or "off." Even with various mechanical controls built in, they can't keep the room any closer than 2 degrees warmer or cooler than the temperature you set. This thermostat, by contrast, can "throttle back" the energy going to the baseboard as it approaches the setpoint. It does so by energizing the heater for fractions of a 15 minute interval, rather than simply running until the setpoint is reached. In practical terms, your electric meter spins less often, and the room eases in to the temperature you wanted. A minor drop in temperature results in a "nudge" from the thermostat rather than a full-blast energy assault that's guaranteed to go past the setpoint again.

This thermostat adds on-demand backlighting, which we would have wanted, but otherwise appears identical to the old "TH" model that we have. We've saved (and I've counted) several thousand dollars since we installed these, and I recommend them highly.

My entire home is 240 volt baseboard heat. I have a thermostat in every room and one in the upstairs hallway (10 zones total) When I purchased the house The original thermostats from the 70's were still there! They were awful no longer accurate and eating electricity since the elements came on full blast whenever the heat kicked on. So far I have bought 5 of these Honeywell thermostats over the past 2 months and installed them in my kitchen, living room and all the upstairs bedrooms. It's nice to be able to program them and forget them. No running around the house trying to remember to turn thermostats on or off. And When they do come on, since the thermostat regulates the amount of power to the elements they don't always come on full blast especially if its just kicking on to maintain temperature. I cant see how this won't save me money in the long run! Eventually I plan on replacing the remaining 5 all with this model. I tossed the idea around of getting the non programmable models for the bathrooms and hallway but for a couple of bucks more you get more features. With the price of gas and oil going up I'm actually doing pretty well with electric heat especially now that I have these new thermostats.

As for the unit itself It easy to install and program and looks very nice on the wall. If your skittish about replacing your old thermostat wire for wire then have an electrician do it. My wiring was very easy to figure out, but I can't guarantee yours will be.

Honest reviews on HONEYWELL TL8230A1003 Thermostat Electric Heat Digital 7 day

I purchased this thermostat to control a Cadet 63314 heater I installed in a cold bathroom in our house. I wanted a programmable unit because, being a bathroom, I didn't need the room to be a constant temperature all day... I wanted it warm in the morning when I got up, and again at night when getting ready for bed. Also, I didn't want the electric bill running up to heat a room I wasn't in for several hours a day.

This is the only programmable line voltage unit I could find, and is does an excellent job. Multiple settings through the day to manage the room temp. for when you want it, and day of the week settings to allow your days to be set differently. Also has a vacation button that you can set for a different temp., without changing any other programming.

Programming was easy, though you will need to refer to the instructions because of the number of options on settings. The preset programming is very good though, so you may not need to adjust anything other than the time and day.

The hardest part of the install was running the wiring. Since this is a line voltage thermostat, you will need to run 240v power to it, then away from it to the heater, which can be a lot of work if you are doing it in a finished room, as I was.

This has made a huge difference in the comfort of the bathroom it was installed in, and I recommend it for anyone who might have, or is installing, a baseboard heater. The electrical savings, plus comfort, made this a big winner for me.

I bought Honeywell thinking they are the best. The unit works fine, but the programming suffers. This has four programmble times per day (good) but only two practical temperature settings (bad). Once set, the two temp settings exist for all occurrences of that setting. For example, say the "economy" temp setting is 65. You might want it 64 during mid-day M-F ("away"), 66 for the same mid-day hours on weekends, and 62 at night. Can't do it; you're stuck with the one setting for every occurrence of "economy" which is typically mid-day and night. You want maximum control to make electric heat as cost-efficient as possible. This unit isn't as robust as my previous Honeywell CT1950 which caught fire. So far, Honeywell isn't scoring big points. Problem is there are not many choices for line thermostats.

I installed this quite awhile ago when I replaced my main thermostat upstairs. It is very flexible, and we have the remote sensor sitting in our bedroom. It keeps the temperature in the bedroom perfect. Also, no more complaints from my wife about the bedroom being too warm or too cold --YES! It just works (which in my opinon, is the best thing you can say for this technology)! I have been very happy with the ProIAQ base thermostat also. It was easy to install, and works great. It also has a lot of features to customize the temp settings. In addition, while not cheap, it was priced very competitivly when compared to other simular systems. Very pleased!

Ok.. I took away a star only because the lid of this item has no locking mechanism. It can be dangerous if you take this on a picnic or have children that may be curious, as it can pour hot water all over you if you accidentally push the button or press the pump! It's a major flaw!

Other than that, I LOVE this air pot. It stays on my kitchen counter and I don't take it anywhere. It has been on and running since the day I got it (months ago) and I always have hot water, which is important if you have a baby, who drinks formula all day! :)

If they could add some kind of a locking system to this unit it'll be perfect!

Received a knock-off of the Whirlpool defrost timer kit #482493 . No instructions, no hardware, and mounting holes too small. Jumper was already configured to pin #1 (which was correct for my model after an internet search for the instructions) but I had to drill the holes to the proper size to fit the plastic pins in the frig. Working for now but a real pain. The genuine Whirlpool FSP replacement kit includes mounting hardware and installation instructions.

Sold by Supply Edge and fulfilled by Amazon. Listed as a genuine Whirlpool part. I was a Whirlpool parts distributor for 40 plus years. This is a non genuine part. Comes in plain box, no identification of mfg or brand. No mounting hardware and no instructions included. The timer has a loose lead you have to install on terminal 1 or 2. You must have the instructions to know which terminal to place lead on. Different. Terminal used for certain models. I ordered item expecting to receive genuine FSP Whirlpool part. Not Amazons fault, seller misrepresented item. . Other vendors may be selling genuine Whirpool part. But not Supply Edge, avoid them. Will be sending this cheap knockoff back for refund.

I choose this part because they arrived on time in time at a fraction of the cost. I used it to replace an Adaptive Defrost Board after a new one did not work. The refrigerator does everything perfectly except count how many times you use ice. $10 as opposed to over $100 but the $100 part did not even work. I converted the refrigerator from Adaptive Defrost to Timed Defrost.

In my opinion, DeLonghi oil-filled portable radiators are one of the best options for safe, reliable room heating. There is nothing to spill, no open flames, and nothing gets so hot that it would burn you instantly. You don't have to fear falling asleep while they are heating. They're nicely designed and unobtrusive, making no noise other than the occasional tick or pop as the thermostat cycles and they heat up or cool down. I find this a comforting reminder that my heater is doing its job. No assembly is required other than rotating the feet out--just pop it out of the box and it's ready to go! The cord has a holder around which it can coil, eliminating the need to tie it up, and since you just wind the cord around it, you don't have to worry that some automatic retraction device will get stuck. This model can be used with the thermostat or without, and both are very simple to operate. All controls were easy to see, even in dim light, and the instructions were clear. It's very easy to move the heater from room to room, even if it is hot, using the little hand-hold. This heater kept a very large bedroom and bath pleasantly warm even on the low setting, while outside temperatures were 36 to 43 degrees, wet, and windy. The color is a tasteful grayish white with dark gray accents, so don't be turned off thinking this is "refrigerator white." I would definitely buy another DeLonghi like this one!

Last year I had 1 that only heated 3 rooms and one room closed off, set on 3 all Winter long, This year I purchased a 2nd one and all rooms are open and heaters are set on 2 and in November we had 19 days in the upper teens & chill factor was in the range of 20* below zero. Comparing my electric bills Nov. '09 and '10, my power bill was $33.00

lower, only $56.00 in my all electric apartment of 978 sq.ft. I am not cold, I sit in front of my PC in shorts & a t-shirt, shoes & socks. You won't be disappointed. The 1st DeLonghi heater is 7 yrs old & still works just fine, its a name that can be trusted. These heaters work better & cheaper than an a/c heat pump or baseboard heaters, I know. I live 6665' above sea level in Nevada and it does get cold & windy. A secret, "buy yourself a 6" desk-fan and set it behind a heater on the floor too warm a room 18' square, works wonders." I have 2 cats and they sleep in front of their own heater now, they have never been burnt. I am 76 yr old male. Try them, you can't go wrong...

Best Deals on DeLonghi MG7307CM Safeheat 1500W ComforTemp Portable Oil Filled

Received this in the mail today. So far I'm pretty impressed. At first I was a bit puzzled regarding the instructions and all the switches and dials this thing has but once I figured out how it worked it was easy.

I'm using this to heat up a room that is approximately 10ftx20ft, and this room has a glass sliding door on one wall, and four anderson windows all together on the other two walls (the fourth wall connects to the house). The room does have a very small (about 5ft long) baseboard radiator but it barely heats the room properly.

I have this connected to a Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat, and it works great. I have it set at 76F and while the middle of the room (where this radiator is placed, dead center) stays at 76F the one side of the room stays at 74.5F (where the sliding door is, and it's 55F outside right now) and the other side 75.5F which is acceptable. I do have a ceiling fan in the room on low but I may need to add a floor fan in there to help circulate the air better and keep the temperature more even throughout the room.

Oh, and I have it set on medium power and it's doing the job quite well. It was able to heat a room stuck at 67-68F to 76F in just a few hours. Almost ten degrees...pretty good IMO. I was reluctant to set it at max power (the full 1500watts) over concern it may pop a circuit breaker. Setting at medium power (1,000watts I believe?) did the job. I'm using this heater to provide ambient heating for all my fishtanks to save on electricity (if I had heaters in every fish tank, I'd end up using 2-4x more energy than I would just simply heating the room itself). The advantage to what I am using this heater for is that the fish tanks absorb a lot of the heat pretty easily and keep the room warm when the heater is not on. Even if the heater were to stay off, I'm sure the room temperature would stay pretty steady for a little while before it starts to drop.

Here are the cons:

* The instructions suck... But if you just tinker around with this thing for a little bit you'll figure out how to use it.

* Not really a con but just a warning to potential buyers, you definitely want to heed the warning in the instruction booklet to let this thing run at full power either outdoors or in a well ventilated area for 2-3 hours because it does release an odor at first. But hey, all new products release odors...name one product that doesn't. New houses wreak of pine, cars have that new car scent or a leather scent, books smell like ink, etc. But definitely let it "break in" before you put it where you need more heat.

* I'm still not sure what the "ComforTemp" button does? And the instructions suck. Either way I just have the comfortemp feature shut off since I am using an external thermostat to control this heater.

Who would I recommend this to?

People who need extra heat in a room 200 square feet or smaller, are concerned about fire safety, and want a heater that is pretty reliable. This is the only type of heater I would trust to leave on in a house without being home. So far so good...

Honest reviews on DeLonghi MG7307CM Safeheat 1500W ComforTemp Portable Oil Filled

I've purchased two of these heaters in the last 6 months. I returned the first one after about two weeks of use because of the very unpleasant odor it was generating. I followed the recommendation of another reviewer (which is consistent with the directions in the owner's manual) and ran the heater on high for 2+ hours in a well-ventilated area to "burn off" whatever coating is applied during the manufacturing process. This didn't seem to help at all as the odor persisted for the next two weeks. Because I liked the heater in general, I decided I would try another one. I ran the second heater on high for two full days, hoping that this would permanently eliminate any odor. It didn't. Months later, the odor is there any time we turn this thing on.

This might not be a big problem if you are looking to keep your basement or your garage warm, but we were looking to use this in our childrens' room. Unfortunately the odor is just too strong and without really knowing the cause, it's impossible to feel good about having young children breathing in this environment.

Clean -no initial burning gas odors that we got with the DeLonghi EW7707CM. It takes awhile to heat up the room, but after an hour or so, you've got a warm room (this one heats a fairly large, 10' x 30' space). The ComfortTemp system, though, hasn't been of much use to us, as our space can get pretty cold (San Francisco) and seems to need more heat output.

We've had it for nearly 2 months now, and have had no problems. It's also nice that it requires no assembly -the wheels fold under.

Well I purchased one of these because we are leaving on a trip soon and wanted to be able to monitor the house while we were gone.

As far as the thermostat set-up goes it was pretty straight forward and the instructions covered most all situations that might be encountered. It took me 3 hours to get it going. However, I failed to hook up the 24v power so the battery died the first night. So the next day it took me about an hour to connect the 24v power.

As far as hooking it up to the WiFi it was confusing at first because the instructions were unclear how to get it to recognize the thermostat. A 5 minute call to the Help Desk resolved the situation and I was up and running in 10 minutes. Another 5 minutes to download the iPhone App and I was totally wireless.

I liked the historical capabilities thru the website and it was easy to make program changes thru it as well.

Overall I am satisfied and the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the problem with connecting it to my WiFi system.

Addendum: I did have further issues with the installation but I have nothing but praise for the Help Desk. They have resolved all my problems and have had an answer to all my questions. Nothing but praise for them! BTW the thermostat works great and I would not hesitate to but it again.

I have had experience with one other food dehydrator. I won't mention the name, but it had a pretty well known informercial years go. That food dehydrator compared to the one made by Sausage Maker are worlds apart.

Everything I've dehydrated in my new Sausage Maker Dehydrator has been excellent. The design is simple, but effective. I also like the fact that it is all stainless steel which, in my opinion, has a much nicer look than plastic dehydrators. The only minor complaint I have is that it seems to dry things faster in the rear of the dehydrator rather than the front, which is to be expected since that's where the heat coils are placed. Although the difference is noticeable, it's not a tremendous difference. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.
