Did lots of research before buying 2 of these. Was about to buy the near equivalent from my local hardware store, but it was about $35 more expensive and didn't have Auto Changeover (ability to change from heating to cooling automatically). The big local stores don't sell Honeywell's 'Pro' line only the DIY variety.

I have disabled the AIR (Adaptive Intelligent Recovery) feature that brings the HVAC on early to achieve the set temperature when I set the timer to come on at 06:30, I don't want to be woken up at 05:45 by the sound of my heating system burning money.

Very simple to wire up. Did the two thermostats within 1 hour. This was made easy mainly because my house is relatively new, and the builders used the right color codes on the wiring. Also, I only have a single-stage, 'standard' HVAC system no heat pump.

The green LED backlighting is really nice I hated having to grub about in the dark, trying to read the controls on the old mechanical thermostats. Display is crystal clear and the user interface is very intuitive.

The only things missing (IMHO) are:

* Ability to automatically run the fan for ventilation. You have to set this ON/OFF manually. There is one manufacturer that makes home thermostats that do this, but they're square and ugly, and have clunky slide switches to control the fan and heat/cool settings, rather than the groovy electronic interface.

* Filter change reminder I can set a ToDo in my Palm Pilot to remind me of this, so it's no big deal.

My teenage son can't believe I installed this and programmed it myself. It was very easy. Just write down on a piece of paper the letters for where the wires go in your old thermostat and put them in the corresponding places in this one. As soon as I powered up this unit it worked, and I had all the wires in place. Directions are in plain English (and Spanish) and easy to understand.

Installation was very straightforward and easy. Programming was a snap. The large display is easy to read and simple to understand. My last programmable thermostat had extra buttons under a swinging panel and the whole unit swung out to replace the batteries. The latch broke and both pieces swung freely. Not a problem with this unit no extra moving "doors" or latches to break all functions are accessible from the large buttons on the front of the unit. And the batteries can be changed without losing your program! This is a nice unit and I'd definitely recommend it.

Honest reviews on Honeywell FocusPRO 6000 Programmable Thermostat

I am satisfied with the TH6110 thermostat. I chose 4 star because this leaves room for possible future problems. It installed well and the features are ideal for me. It operates on current from the furnace so I don't need to change batteries often. I've read that it clicks when controlling. It does, but it is inaudible a few feet distant. I had an older HW programmable. This one seems to have smoother regulation. I had a question that was quickly answered by Plumbing Planet. One side comment, if you need a cover plate to to conceal old mounting holes, you will find that the HW piece for this is very pricey. I made one myself. Overall rating is: Very Good Value.

If you are replacing another system thromostat, this is an excellent choice. Installation is a snap (simply attach the base to the wall in the appropriate place and connect existing color-coded wires to the poles designated in the instructions); programming in intuitive once you're familiar with the display indications; and manual control is simple and clear. If you are replacing an older Honeywell programmable, the old base plate might even fit this new thermostat, saving additional drilling and mounting chores. Lots of good features, too (see product discription): smart recovery, smart learning, 5+1+1 programming, etc. And a great price: all the features needed for controlling one of our two heating zones at much lower cost than other models.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm sure this thermostat works well enough, but mine was DOA screen freezes immediately after power is connected. Trane informed me that the unit was bad, and that they would send me a replacement unit and a box to ship the old one back in. A week later, neither item ever arrived, and I got a phone call from Trane "following up" on my service request. I said I never got the new unit, and they said, "We don't handle product returns, you need to return it to the merchant to get a new one." I told them that there was no merchant, that I received the product from them to write a review for it. They insisted that they can't send me a new one. I finally gave up and put my old thermostat back in.

We bought the Schlage Link/Nexia System in Sept 2011. We were very happy with the keypad lock and wanted

to be able to program our locks and thermostat online, so we bought new locks, a bridge, and a Trane thermostat.

Now almost 2 years later, the $130 thermostat is malfunctioning. I called Schlage/Nexia and was given a number

to call Trane.

After 30-60 minutes of trying to get tech support or navigate their web site to find tech support, I discovered

that Trane doesn't have tech support. They make you call a local dealer who will no doubt charge you $150-$200

to come out and troubleshoot the thermostat. If I wanted to pay $200 for someone to tell me that I need to push

some buttons to reset it to default (a common solution these days for digital products) or that I need to replace

this $130 product after only 21 months, they could tell me that on the phone.

The end result, I will probably replace this thermostat with another Z wave thermostat from another company.

DON"T BUY TRANE unless you want a complete lack of customer service when something goes wrong.

Best Deals on Trane TZEMT400BB3NX N N SL Home Energy Management Thermostat

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Normally, I'd knock it down a couple stars for the monthly fee associated with Nexia, which adds way too much to the cost of the product and makes recovering the cost through schedule based thermostat adjustments highly improbable if not impossible for the average home. But, you can use this otherwise great programmable & Z-Wave compatible thermostat with other home automation systems that don't require monthly fees.

I found this thermostat to be very accurate for both temperature and humidity by comparing it to several Oregon Scientific sensors in our home. That's always important for a thermostat but even more so when you want to use it with a home automation / smart setup. For example, our house is set to "away" mode for a long weekend in the hot and humid summers, the Veralite tells this thermostat to raise the temperature to 80 degrees (or higher). However, it monitors the humidity levels. If the humidity in the house goes above 62%, the veralite will (1) lower the HVAC setting so the AC will lower the humidity, then send me a text message so that I can remotely check the temp and humidity. Once the humidity is under control, the Veralite tells the Trane to raise the temperature to the more miserly level, again. It's a great way to minimize my power bill, but to avoid the risks of mold growth. This TRANE is also linked to several motion sensors in the house, making it like a NEST thermostat that graduated magna cum laude.

Numbers / settings are easy to read. The temperature adjustment buttons are easy to push arrows that anyone can use if they want to walk over and adjust the settings.

As mentioned above, I have this connected to Veralite Z-Wave controller, which Amazon sells at a very good price: Mi Casa Verde VeraLite Home Controller, White and Green The Veralite can control this thermostat along with all the other Z-Wave devices (and Insteon) and does more than Nexia WITHOUT ANY MONTHLY FEES.

Honest reviews on Trane TZEMT400BB3NX N N SL Home Energy Management Thermostat

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I really wanted this thing to work. I even crawled into the crawlspace to make sure I had the blue (C) wire connected to the furnace. Then we had to find the blue wire in the mass of wires stuck in the wall. Finally, got everything connected and put the faceplate on. It would not power on.

I called customer service during the stated CS hours, and the phone rang and rang. I could not speak to a rep during the hours the company states a rep is available.

Again, I had high hopes for this. I currently have a pretty nice Hunter thermostat, but I wanted one that I could monitor online. Also, I was quite happy the kit came with some extras (door lock, dimmer, bridge, etc.). Despite my high hopes we had to uninstall the Trane and reinstall the Hunter.

The thermostat looks kind of bulky on the wall, but so do many others. The "needle" inside of it that shows the temperature can be off by around 5°. The other problem that I have with this thing is the silly range. It starts at 45° and ends at 75°. This means that you can't have a room warmer than 75°. My other thermostats go to around 95°. Not that I'll ever need it that hot, but it's good to be able to. All together, skip this one.

The thermostat is more than just a few degrees off. I bought two of these products with the same result.

When the thermostat does decide to come on, it never consistently decides to turn off. I will have the thermostat at 72 degrees, and 76 degrees later, the heater is still running. Replaced with different thermostat. I will never purchase again.

This toaster oven offers toasting, broiling, baking, and convection oven -a nice array. The control dials are comfortable to work with [function, temperature, and timer]. Nothing happens until the timer is set. It seems accurate. Pan and rack cleaned up easily. A surprise was the requirement to have 6" air space on all sides, including rear, of the oven. That uses more counter space. But it's necessary because the rear gets hot too. A negative factor: the instruction book does not offer much help...no suggestions ... no recipes to give an idea about cooking times & procedures.

The packaging was damaged but UPS checked it out to make sure that the unit was not damaged before delivering.

I like the ease of moving it from one room to another. The casters roll smoothly. It cools a single room very quickly but is noisy.

The window insert could use some rework. It needs to be beefed up and perhaps some ribs to line it up with the window. It tends to pop out from under the window because the duct is so much heavier than the insert.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Works well, could use a better mechanism to connect to the window when a sliding window (side-ways)

Seems to use more Amp than specified, measured it to use 11.5A instead of the 9.7A rated.

Other than that, chills very well, no need to empty water overflow (yet) and not too loud (not quiet either)

Best Deals on DeLonghi PAC T110P 11,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

The A/C unit puts out a tremendous amount of cool air and works as advertised. Previous reviews mentioned that it was noisy and that is indeed the case. However, that is a small price to pay after a hurricane has knocked out our power, the generator has been turned on, and it's a humid 95 degrees out without a breath of wind. The price was right, too. I'm very pleased with the purchase. Setup is easy and the manufacturer quickly replaced a minor plastic part that got broken during shipping.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi PAC T110P 11,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

I bought two of these, a 10,000 BTU and one like this one, 11,000 BTU. They are very good as air conditioners, they seem to cool a lot more than the room they are in, if strategically located. For best results I coupled them with a high velocity fan blowing away from them, towards the rest of the house. This way the cold air from the air condition circulates faster through the room.

At first I noticed that regardless of how low I would set the temperature, the cooling was just O-K. Not great. But what really got me upset was the humidity. I had never felt humidity in the house before putting high efficiency windows. Apparently, it is an undesired result of the upgrade, as there are no cracks for the air to circulate and the humidity to escape anymore. To get rid of the humidity I set the Pinguinos to work as dehumidifiers. This seems to be their best function yet. Because they are vented (I have both hoses connected, the one at issue is the exhaust now), the exhaust expels outside the hot air which a normal dehumidifier would release in the room. This makes the room a LOT COOLER than using the air condition function.

For better results yet, I connected the hose in the back of the Pinguino and out the window, so now all the water goes out and the Pinguino can work uninterrupted until it reaches the desired humidity level (I set it at 35%).

Was it worth it???? buying such an expensive piece of equipment x2 and ending up using it as a dehumidifier? Would I have been able to buy 10 to 15 dehumidifiers for the price? Absolutely on both counts. I could have spent a lot less money for dehumidifiers, but I do feel it was worth getting the Pinguinos, after all. -Even if only because I can move them at will...

The jury is out on power consumption. When I was researching about the equipment, I read that they were so much more efficient than the US had standards to measure them by, and that was the reason they were not energy star rated. I also read that they were compliant with the new (2009) EU energy efficiency standards, which are by far better than the US ones. With that in mind, I set out to compare electricity bills. I am not happy so far, but I have other mitigating factors (need new refrigerator, have not used the 'smart mode' enough, etc.) to consider first. I will revisit the issue and write a separate comment on the energy efficiency when I have better indicators.

Nov. 26, 2012.

I have used this units for 2 summers now. I have better indicators about the electricity usage. They are very economical. My electricity consumption this summer was 40% less than last summer according to the electric company data (the stuff we can see online about our consumption, etc.). Some of it is due to generally better management and better understanding of waste. But having the right equipment is the most important part of that management. I have not changed electricity suppliers (yet). I am adding another star to my review.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi PAC T110P 11,000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner

This looked good "on paper" after I researched portable a/c's.

The one I have doesn't cool well, its being returned. I made a test where it was on for several hours, and couldn't lower the temperature below 75, when it was only 80 out, but set to 66. I expected to freeze, not be merely comfortable. It won't be good enough for 90+ days.

There were missing parts to connect to the window outlet (I used duct tape workarounds to test), and Delonghi said the serial number indicated it was manufactured over a year ago, and suggested it may have been returned. They seemed quite willing to send the parts...

The good; it looks made well, no cheezy parts. No signs of the water bucket filling (which seems to happen dehumidify mode only), its relatively quiet. It moves fairly easy on the rollers. With separate air intake and output hoses, it should work better (but...).

Con; no side to side adjustment for airflow. You seem to need to point the whole thing in a direction. Its very big and heavy. And it didn't cool well, but perhaps mine was returned by someone else.

Functionality:

I just had the T5800 Color Touch thermostat installed yesterday by my HVAC person and I love it. I love that the mobile app and website utility allows me to control my thermostat away from home, see usage info, send a message to be displayed on the thermostat screen, and other features. One suggestion I do have for the user interface is that while the mobile app/website utility allows you to turn vacation mode on or off, it does not allow you to set the start date and end date for your vacation. Setting up the start date and end date is something you have to do at home. I'm not sure if on/off feature for vacation mode from the mobile app bypasses any dates that might be stored in the thermostat and turns it on/off, or if the dates that are already setup are taken into account. It would be nice to know that. As a user and being busy with packing for my trip and such, I'm thinking that I might forget to setup the vacation schedule before leaving home and would want to do that later on after I leave home.

Internet Connection:

In regards to the internet connection, I was able to successfully set it up and test the mobile app to verify it was working. However, later in the day, I noticed that the internet connection was not working. I was not able to login with the mobile app and I saw a red X in the upper right hand corner of the thermostat screen, indicating that the internet connection was not working. I don't know what caused this; perhaps it's due to the nature of wifi, such that wifi tends to be intermittent and goes on/off at times. I tried repeatedly to make it work, but couldn't. I tried pressing the reset button on my wireless router and trying the setup process on the thermostat, but did not have success. I then tried power cycling the thermostat by removing the front part of the thermostat and putting it back on again, and running through the setup. But it could not connect. The Accessory Info screen seemed to indicate that it could not connect to skyport. The following morning, I then tried to reboot my wireless router again by clicking a button within the web interface for my router on my computer. I also tried to login to my venstar account on my computer to see if that worked, and it did. I then went through the wifi setup process again on the thermostat and finally it worked! I just hope this connection issue doesn't happen anymore. One other comment regarding the wifi connection is that I saw on the box that the wifi key came in, indicated that it's compatible with 802.11b/g. The wireless router I have is 802.11n, which seems to work fine. But, 802.11n has been on the market for a while and I'm surprised that the wifi key was not designed to also take advantage of that.

FirmWare Updates:

I have one comment in regards to how firmware updates need to be made. You have to use the Color Touch Assistant software to save the firmware settings to an SD card and import it, by plugging it in the SD slot on the thermostat. Considering that this device is wifi capable, you'd think that you it would be able to download the firmware update wirelessly and install it, when selected by the user. I have other devices that already do this.

Product Support:

The product support at Venstar is very fast and good. Whenever I emailed Venstar support for questions or issues, the responses were pretty quick and they were helpful.

I will provide future updates as necessary.

I have a vacation home in Maine that I go to most weekends. During the colder months, it is always so chilly in the house when I arrive on the weekends because we leave the heat set at a lower temp to save on fuel when we're not there. But, after installing this wifi key and the Venstar T5800 colortouch thermostat...I can now adjust the heat up to a comfy temperature long before I arrive. It's fairly easy to set up the unit (as long as you have all the correct wires) and the online account is easy to use from my iphone, ipad, or laptop.

No more waiting for the house to warm up each weekend...

Best Deals on Venstar ACC0454 Skyport Wi-Fi Key for ColorTouch Thermostats

Its a little bit big for just being an antenna, however, it sometimes does not do what it is suppose to and I had to re-set 2 times so far for it to pickup my Wi-Fi signal, though, my router/transmitter and this unit is quite far from each other. This is my first home deep fryer. I really do like it. I use it maybe a few times a week on average, making my own onion rings, french fries, jalapeno poppers, wontons, ect. I live alone in a tiny apartment with little kitchen space so its small size is perfect for storing and making a serving or two of items if I have a guest over.

The only thing I don't like about this machine is how hard it is to clean. Without soaking (not submerging, just filling it up with hot water and soap) it's absolutely impossible to get all the grime off the inside and even with soaking I can't get everything clean. This was great for a first machine but it will be replaced soon with something easier to clean. After six months of use I can barely stand to look at it. It desperately needs a good cleaning that I can't give it without dunking the whole thing in water.

The temperature settings were great for a first time cooker as well, though now that I'm a little experienced I'm wishing I had a wider range to play with.

Overall this cooker has met my expectations; it looks great and is easy to store. It also has appropriate safety features. Because of how difficult it is to clean I will be replacing it shortly.

This is a great fryer for its size. Only 4 cups of oil, heats quickly. I have made yam fries, tempura shrimp/scallops and fried wontons. All were delicious and very crisp. Clean-up is a little annoying because you cannot remove the oil container from the unit. This is pretty much exactly the same as the FryDaddy with the addition of adjustible thermostat and fry basket and cover to keep oil from spattering when frying.

Honest reviews on Presto 05471 1000-Watt 1-Liter Stainless-Steel Electric Deep Fryer

This fryer is a great value for your money. It does exactly what it purports to do: it fries small quantities of food, at adjustable temperatures, and is small enough to be convenient for those of us without a lot of space. It's also a lot cuter than many similarly sized fryers of this type--which can be important if you're leaving it out on top of the counter most of the time.

It's small, so it doesn't use a bunch of oil, and we do usually just leave the oil in the fryer until it needs to be changed. It's lightweight, so moving it without spilling and cleaning it isn't really much of a hassle. And the exterior is very easy to clean because it's relatively sleek and simple. It works really well for exactly what it says it does: frying small amounts, like single/double servings of french fries. It does take a bit longer if you're trying to fry a lot, or something really dense like chicken legs/thighs, but that's only to be expected. And the food comes out great, with the perfect consistency.

The only thing we wish it had was a hook to hang the basket on for draining. It's possible to open the lid and balance the basket on the rim to drain, but you have to be careful it doesn't fall back in and splatter, etc.

Just a tip: we usually use the highest temperature setting, because any lower seems to be inefficient and take forever, so that doesn't really seem to be such a plus--but perhaps for different kinds of foods we don't cook it is and we're just unaware.

Overall, we are really please with this product, and it was a great value for the price. We use it constantly--and that's another great thing about it: it's small and we just keep it on the counter, so when my husband wants fries, we turn it on and it heats up really quickly, so it's very quick and convenient!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Presto 05471 1000-Watt 1-Liter Stainless-Steel Electric Deep Fryer

As the title says this is a small capacity fryer. Keep that in mind and you will not be disappointed. That is not to say that it does not have its limitations. It is too small to fry chicken breasts, other chicken pieces fit if you put them in one at a time. French fries work well if you don't put in too much. A small to medium potato sliced up seem to work well. The thermostat is accurate, but it starts to cycle before the set temperature is reached (at 390 it starts to cycle at 350). This makes it slow to reach the setting. If you overfill the basket with foods that have a lot of water in them (like fries) it can boil over.

To work around the issues I set the temp to 390 and it takes about 15 minutes to heat up. I slowly lower fries to keep it from bubbling over. Battered seafood works very well. I don't find it hard to clean as others have said, but then I clean after every use. For one or two persons this unit is ideal.

Honest reviews on SpeedHeat Rugbuddy 370 Under Rug Space Heater, 5' X 7'

I have a large room on a lower floor that is always freezing. The mats really help. They do the job unless it's really cold and then I need a space heater as well. But it does a great job and exactly what I was looking for, I have 2 under a big rug.

As with everything, I went on a search of all mug warmers in the universe before buying this one. I found a universal complaint of ALL mug warmer reviewers (of any brand) was "doesn't get hot enough" (especially the USB models). I think the manufacturers walk a thin line between "doesn't get hot enough" and setting the house on fire.

Initially, I tried putting a cold cup of coffee upon my new Mr. Coffee and was disappointed in the warmer's ability to heat up an already cold cup of coffee. (tried both metal and ceramic mug)

The good news is that if you put a fresh hot cup of coffee right from the coffee maker onto the "burner" that it does a pretty good job in keeping it hot from that point. I review this as satisfactory performance and give extra credit for its slim and sleek design.

I bought my Mr. Coffee mug warmer locally at a store. I wasn't expecting much out of it because of the reviews about it here on Amazon, but hey it was really cheap, under ten bucks. I was pleasantly surprised at how it kept my cup of tea consistently very warm throughout the day while I'm at work. This is how hot the heating plate can get: put a drop or two of water on it, and the drops will sizzle and evaporate quickly. The key to getting the best experience out of using the Mr. Coffee mug warmer is to use with a cup of HOT tea/coffee/soup/whatever. It won't make your cold beverage hot again (use a microwave for that).

I've had it for several months now, using it daily, and it's performed very well! Here is the deal with temperatures. If you place a hot cup of tea/coffee on it, it keeps it hot! Not the burn your tongue hot. As you drink, the cup becomes less full, and actually heats the contents more. Also, I've placed a half full cup of cold coffee on it, and it heated it up to a nice warm temperature within a few minutes. The heating plate will accommodate larger coffee mugs. The only disadvantage I've noticed with it is the counter gets rather warm were it is placed, so keep flammables and paper away to be safe. Also it does not have a auto shutoff that I'm aware of, however I have it plugged into a power box with motion control, so if I leave my desk for a long period it will shut off. I also try to make sure the bottom of my mug is dry before setting the cup down on it, to keep the heating plate clean. So if your like me and like sipping on tea or coffee at the office, with out going to refill for a hot cup every time your liquids get cold, then you'll be happy with this warmer.

Honest reviews on Mr. Coffee MWBLK Mug Warmer

A lot of reviewers have stated that this hot plate does not get warm enough to keep your coffee hot. I disagree, but also think I know why they are having that experience. How well this warmer works is extremely sensitive to the shape of your coffee mug, in particular the way that the bottom is. I did some controlled experiments to determine how much heat this warmer puts into a liquid in a cup and found as much as 30 degrees of variation between different mugs of the same or similar material.

The bottom line, is that any hotplate style coffee warmer depends on maximum surface area contact with the bottom of your mug. If you have a mug that is broad and flat at the bottom, filling the heating surface of the warmer, it will work great. If you mug is very narrow at the bottom or arches up so that only the edge is touching, the heater cannot be as effective.

You should either buy a different mug, or forego this energy wasting method altogether, in favor of a well insulated stainless steel vacuum mug like the ones from Contigo. Personally, I like the taste of coffee best out of a real mug, so I continue to use this warmer, just with a broad based mug.

I don't know why so many people have trouble with this item. My mother-in-law gave this to me well over a month ago and I think it's the greatest thing since TIVO. The key is to use a regular size cup with a flat bottom (not the ginormous ceramic cups that are more like SOUP bowls and only have a tiny bottom), and to put it on the warmer as soon as you pour the coffee into the cup. It WILL keep it not just warm, but HOT. It is 3:30 in the afternoon right now and I am still sipping on a HOT cup of coffee that I poured at 8:00 this morning. The lower the liquid gets, the hotter it gets, so be careful. I've also found that putting a piece of paper over the cup (like a piece of junk mail or an old CD case--without the CD inside, of course) will infinitely increase the heat factor, though it's not too safe and really isn't necessary (I've done it a few times when the dogs were shedding and my husband wanted the ceiling fans on didn't want dog hair in my cup, so I covered it...and it was so hot I burned my tongue.) Regardless, this item (the Mr. Coffee Mug *WARMER*) is not meant to heat up cold liquids; that's what microwaves were invented for. This is a great product when used properly and at the very least, it does what it was intended to do: keep beverages warm.

I ordered the product for my GE fridge as the freezer was becoming frosted on the back panel. The part was delivered to my house two days before the promised date, it took me an hour to replace the worn out thermostat defrost part from start to finish, VERY easy to install, only issue I had was the iceboxand getting around it to switch parts. It has been a month and half since the thermostat defost was fixed and I have not had any frost form on the back of the freezer. The refridgerator has been cold, along with the freezer (popsicles are staying frozen). You cannot beat the $13+ price tag and a simple do-it yourself, compared to a repairman cost of $250 and a missed day of work.

My wife and I have a room that faces west so we get a lot of warmth buildup in our room during the later hours of the day. This coupled with our apartment complex's failure to properly size the central air's compressor to our square-footage means our room is hot and the AC can't do anything to cool it below 80F any time of the day (Texas Summers). After a month of hot nights we decided to get a portable unit and now that we've got this we won't ever go back.

###If you own this unit and the temperatures aren't reading properly, insulate the exhaust hose with some foil from where it connects to the unit and about 2 feet after that###

Benefits:

Remote controlled

Easy to install kit into window. Easy to move as well with the built-on castor wheels

Cools great our room is maybe 15 x 15 and we can keep it at 73 degrees all night without an issue. Unit goes to 61 degrees.

Fan noise is pleasant we like white noise

Thermostat shuts compressor off once temp is reached, kicks back on when temp rises again.

Timer is easy to set and helps to save energy.

Energy usage is a lot less than running the central air all night (My KilaWatt meter gave me an average of 5.92kWh per night over 5 days or roughly $9 a month)

Doubles as a dehumidifier with 45 pint capacity. Comes with hose for draining. Don't use the hose if just using it as an AC unit.

Pulls a lot of dust out of the air. Just make sure you clean your filters about once a month.

Downfalls:

Blue led-lit display on the front is too BRIGHT. We cut a flap of thin cardboard and taped it to the unit along the top and sides using some electrical tape. Doing so prevents remote from functioning with unit though.

Hose comes out at a 90 degree angle from the unit making it difficult to place next to a wall. Clearance required is roughly 1 foot behind the unit to allow proper air flow.

Hose coming out the rear tends to get hot and gives off ambient heat. Since the units thermostat is literally right above the hose (located under the top rear filter on the upper right) the temperature readings can be off by as much as 10 degrees. At first we were having issues with the compressor running all night non stop. When I figured out what was going on I insulated the hose with some foil where the hose connects to the unit and about 2 feet more of the hose from there. Temps now read properly.

We bought our unit from Best Buy with my wife's employee discount so we paid quite a bit less than what Amazon is selling it for but I would have gladly paid the amount here for the pleasant sleep we now both enjoy.

I bought this Danby portable air conditioner for my bedroom, since in the summer, I turn my central air conditioning system upto 82 degrees at night, but keep my bedroom at 74. The room is about 175 square feet, and I must say, this air conditioner is absolutely awesome! The fan setting on the low speed is probably one of the quietest fans i've ever heard in a portable, and, as a guy who has studdied, and know quite a bit about air conditioning, let me just say, this 8000 BTU unit is well designed, and, even when the condenser fan kicks in, even that fan is not noisy at all. I've had sever different portable units over the past few years, and, if you're looking for a unit to cool either maybe your home office, maybe a den, or bedroom, trust me! with this, you can't go wrong. Danby is one of the only portable units that, besides a drain plug at the bottom, you may also hook up a standard garden hose, via the hose connector which is on the back of the machine, I do this, with the unit emptying into a 5 gallon water bottle, or you could hook the hose upto a condensate pump, and never have to worry about that rubber drain plug which like most portable air conditioners, is at the bottom of the unit, and can be a royal pain in the rear to get to, especially if the bucket fills to capacity. The remote control is quite small, but works like a champ, and has a little cut-out on the air conditioner to keep it when not in use. When you remove the remote from the storage compartment, there 4 buttons, your temp up and down, the mode button, and your fan speed button. The timer defaults at 8 ours, and must be set with the remote, but I _love this remote, both the small size in your hand, and the ease of how it interacts with the air conditioner flawlessly. With all of this said, I urge you to check this unit out, but, make sure, please! size your room first! I hear so many people come to me and say that a certain portable air conditioner doesn't work, then they tell me, well? my room is 3 or400 square feet. If you don't size properly, then my friend, you will be bitterly disappointed in the the units inadequate performance. Thanks for reading, and good luck in buying your air conditioner for the coming summer ahead.

Dont know what others have been disappointed in but I bought this to cool a two car garage that we made rec room. It took the temp from 80 to 74 in less then 40 minutes. Runs about as loud as others. Add a fan in the room too and we are more than pleased.

This A.C is a pretty good one, except it doesn't have the power to cool down a large lving room, but it perfectly cools down a small room. The only thing is that it uses too much power, epecially in old buildings. I would recommend this A.C for a small room, but not for a large living room. You should also plug it alone, so there is lss chance it turns off the power.

I put it on a table next to the window and connected a 6 inch diameter pipe for good air flow to the intake by making a scoop out of card board and duct tape then ran the pipe out the window making it a dual hose system.I kept the intake and exhaust hoses as short and straight as possible. It works much better now, it was almost useless before.
