Great investment. We were skeptical but this was the best and juiciest turkey we have ever had. We fixed an 11 lb test turkey and it was gone in 2 days (just two of us, and I usually don't like turkey). Then we fixed an 18 lb for Thanksgiving with this and fixed another 12 lb in the oven the usual way and we ended up with just about the whole oven turkey only for leftovers (10 people).

I selected the Masterbuilt/Butterball Oil-Free Electric Turkey Fryer for three primary reasons. First, since my granddaughter is allergic to peanuts, I could not fry a turkey in peanut oil. Second, I wanted a way to capture drippings to make traditional-style turkey gravy, and third, I liked the idea of being able to roast a turkey at the rate of 10 minutes per pound. I started with a 10-lb. Butterball test turkey and vacillated as to whether to inject it with a butter-flavored marinade or leave it unflavored. I did not want Creole flavoring, and I'd read that if the turkey isn't injected with the proper quantities of marinade in the proper places, the marinade can pool and cause intense flavor in some areas of the meat. I decided to try roasting it without any seasoning at all and see what happened. I did nothing to the turkey except dry it thoroughly with paper towels and bind the wings next to the breast with a silicone band. We were very pleased with the outcome. The turkey cooked in exactly 100 minutes, and it was moist, juicy and delicious. On Thanksgiving, I roasted a 12-lb. Butterball turkey and everyone raved. Once again, it cooked in exactly 120 minutes. This time I oiled the turkey inside and out with corn oil mixed with minced fresh rosemary. I also applied a small amount of poultry rub to the skin.

For others who buy this product--which really isn't a fryer but a roaster--I can offer a couple of pointers. The instructions call for preheating the fryer, but it doesn't mention that preheating to the "high" setting takes a long time. On Thanksgiving, I preheated the unit for a full hour before putting in the turkey. Also, the turkey "basket" that fits into the unit is a cone shape with hole in the bottom for the drippings to drain into the cup. The instructions don't mention that when the user transports the cooked turkey in the basket from outdoors to indoors, it will leave a trail of drippings. On Thanksgiving, we solved the problem by placing the turkey basket into a cardboard box. Afterward we removed the turkey from the basket with silicone oven mitts.

Today I intend to order two Masterbuilt/Butterball Oil-Free Electric Turkey Fryers as gifts for dear friends, one who can never seem to get her turkey done and another who has only one oven. For both of them, preparation of Christmas dinner will be much easier and stress-free.

The electric turkey fryer is a good choice if you don't want the mess or hazards of using oil for deep frying. For the money it does an okay job of doing nothing more than cooking your turkey and collecting the drippings. All in all, only buy this product if you want to make room in your oven or grill to cook somthing else at the same time. One good thing about this fryer though is the wood chip tray for smoking. It seems to impart good smoke into the meat. Perhaps this fryer will work better as a low temp smoker. Will try that next. So, in short, if you are looking for that deep fried crispiness and look...this won't give you that.

Honest reviews on Masterbuilt Butterball Indoor Gen III Electric Fryer Cooker

My bad that I got this the day BEFORE Thanksgiving so I had no chance to test before BOY, did I get lucky!! I made the best turkey in the history of man!! It was so great, in fact; we did a "do-over" two weeks later to prove it wasn't a fluke ... Nope! Was again perfect juicy & AMAZING!!

Brined the turkey the night before, put outside on my patio & just kept an eye on it. I cooked a 12.5 lbs turkey in 1.75 hours! Bottom has a cup to catch drippings so made perfect gravy. Crispy skin as if it had been fried but none of the oil mess to clean up. Clean up was super easy just washed the bucket & stand the turkey was in.

I highly recommend this product. Only thing to be aware of is that you will have NO LEFTOVERS because the turkey is so fabulous everybody takes it home with them!

Brined my 16 pound turkey and also injected it with butter and chicken broth. Was the most evenly cooked and juiciest turkey I ever prepared. However, it takes a very long time to heat up and did not ever reach "HI" and turn off. Tried to heat it up to do another and after an hour, gave up. It was very cold outside, so will try again when not so cold, as really like the way the first turkey came out. I think the name "turkey fryer" is a misnomer, since there is no frying associated with it. Outdoor roaster would be more appropriate, in my humble opinion.

This is a good quality product. You can spend a lot more for a dehydrator but probably not get much more in functionality and overall value. It is easy to use and easy to clean. It has a small footprint and will not take up much precious horizontal kitchen surfaces (counter-top area). Controls are user-friendly and not many competitors in this price-range have a digital display/timer. I wont say its whisper quiet but the fan isn't really loud either. I also like how the trays nest when you are not using it. As for performance it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Dried apple slices are delicious and healthy for you so, if you are considering a dehydrator do not be afraid to try the Prestro Dehydro. And get some extra trays also if you plan on consuming mass quantities!

Got it yesterday. Had Beef Jurkey this morning. Giving it a 4 due to the fact it's a little loud.

Honest reviews on Presto 06301 Dehydro Digital Electric Food Dehydrator

I recently broke the Nesco American Harvest dehydrator that I have owned for many years. I dropped it when my dog tripped me. The model that I had isn't even made anymore so I started shopping for a new one. I use my dehydrator very often for a lot of different things. I know from experience exactly what temp I want and exactly how long to dehydrate things. The thing I loved most about my old Nesco dehydrator was the digital temp and timer and that is one thing I would not forgo in a new one. They

are a bit more money but they are much more accurate. Most of the ones for sale these days don't even have a timer and the

temp control is just a cheap dial.

My new Presto 06301 arrived on time and in perfect condition. I have already used it a couple times and I love it. It works

perfectly but it is a little on the noisy side. With the digital temp control and digital timer that's not really an issue for me because

I get everything ready to go in the evening, set the temp and timer and go to bed. When I get up in the morning I know that my

jerky or whatever I'm dehydrating is going to be done perfectly and I don't have to listen to it in my sleep.

For the money this is an excellent product and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants precise temp and an accurate digital timer.

Nice for the price, but, unfortunately very noisy, and, put out a lot of warm air so, I had to bring a small table into the far side of my kitchen to put it on because, up on my counter where I work, the noise made me crazy, and, the warm air blowing made me HOT!

I have only 3 months experience with the product but it seems to be a great one. Installation instructions are clear, operation is simple (push one of two buttons to bump temp up or down). It appears to regulate temperature as per the specs (don't have thermometer that tracks to a fraction of a degree, however), it's electronic thus silent operation, but little symbols on the display show which of 5 levels of power are being supplied to the baseboard heater to maintain temp. A huge improvement over the rotary mechanical wall thermostat we replaced.

Cost effective and energy efficient. It installed without any modifications to the box or wall. No ground. It keeps an even temperature and is very accurate. It pulses the energy to the unit so it's not full throttle or off. This will not work on cadet fan type heaters and is only for Baseboard electric. It has made our backup heater in the bedroom very pleasant when the fireplace goes out at night! AAA+++

I am on oxygen and can't use gas products. I purchased this skillet n use it everyday, it's wonderful. I add water to the pan n cook my hot dogs also. Easy clean up.

The temp control never raised the temperature high enough for frying. I could have returned it but it was too big a hassle but I did write the company to let them know. I did not have high expectations at the outset and should have known that the price was too low for the quality I expected. Problem is that few people carry items designed for small households and shopping on the internet is a crap shoot.

very happy wiwth this purchase, it is greaat for college students and easy to use and easy to clean. Works really well in a small

space such as a dorm room.

Honest reviews on Brentwood SK-45 6 in. Electric Skillet

It doesn't seem to have any temp except high. If you turn it off of high it quits cooking. The stick on decal that was on the handle had already started to peel off which made it look really cheap and there are no marks for any temps. It does cook well on high only which limits your cooking range.

The electric cord gets in the way. It's clumsy. This 6" Non-Stick skillet (with glass cover) would be ideal if made for stove top use.

I have an 8" inch glass cover skillet which serves me better than the 6" electric cord skillet. However, being 95 and still doing my cooking, a 6" non-electric glass cover skillet would be easier for me to handle.

I could be jinxing myself by writing this review, but this is the first space heater I've owned that hasn't flaked out on me after a few months I've had this one for about two years and I use it virtually every weekday at work since my office is like a meat locker. It's small, puts out a good amount of heat and it's fairly quiet though just loud enough that I think of it as doubling as a white noise machine, which for my work setting is very useful. It has a thermostat and two heat settings (though frankly I can't feel the difference between them so I just keep it on "1"). Probably not good for use around children/pets; aside from the obvious dangers, this unit is also very small and lightweight and could be easily tipped over.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

As another reveiwer noted, this is not a safety heater. If you have small children or pets, you will want larger sized heater that is designed to not get too hot to the touch. This is very powerful heater, and due to its small compact size the heat is concentrated all in one small area, which understandably gets very hot. I like this heater a lot, and I previously purchased 3 of them. The controls are straighforward and functional, the size is small, and it looks sharp. Unfortunately one of the 3 stopped working after 1.5 years, thus my 4 star rating instead of 5.

Best Deals on Holmes HCH4062B-UM Small Ceramic Heater with Manual Control

This heater is perfect for my office, which is always ridiculously cold. It's fairly quiet and does a nice job keeping me warm all day. My only complaint is that it smelled sort of funny for awhile when I first got it, but that's mostly gone away now, and I think that's common among space heaters.

Honest reviews on Holmes HCH4062B-UM Small Ceramic Heater with Manual Control

I was without furnace heat for a week and my neighbors loaned me two Holmes Dual Ceramic heaters to use and they were wonderful. When I searched for these, I found that they were no longer made and that the company was now selling these. They are cheap looking and not at all what I expected after having used their previously sold dual heaters. I have run it for several hours and the intense smell of chemicals is still present. I've had many a headache from this heater even though I have opened the windows and run the air purifier. I'm throwing it away. It is without a doubt, the most useless thing I have ever bought on Amazon.

My room is 226 square feet Studio Apartment

It is 90-94 degrees Farenheit outside in NYC and this baby keeps the room at a comfortable 70 with ease.

It took 5 minutes to unbox, and another 5 minutes to set up last night.

It also draws humidity out of the air, and thus leaves you without that stickiness that stays on those hot summer nights.

Timer features keep it on when you want it, and off when you don't

Has wheels at the bottom making for easier transport.

The dashboard on the top is very intuitive and easy to use. Also comes with remote.

Two settings for COOL: Low, and High; Red Power Button for on or off.

My price range was $250-350 Very sturdy and a strong air conditioning unit. Does everything I want for the right price.

Cons:

It's 60lbs quite Heavy

You have to set up the hot air funnel carefully it came off twice last night. Id recommend some adhesive or tape to remedy this.

My computers are in a 180 sq.ft. room on the second floor of my condominium. While my unit has central air, this room is always 4-5 degrees (F.) warmer than the downstairs. In fact, due to the design of the A/C air ducts this room only gets about half the airflow that goes to the other upstairs room. In short, it has always been way TOO HOT, especially in the summer, and computers don't like heat.

I bought this unit because of the rave reviews on Amazon, and while I am very pleased with my purchase, there are a few areas where my knowledge was inadequate prior to my purchase. Originally, I planned on setting up this unit to use in two different rooms, at two different times of the day, but I soon discovered the casters are too small to safely move the unit with the carpeting I have (though the casters would work well on hard floors). Also, changing the window kit setup and the exhaust vent from one room to another would be way too inconvenient to do on a regular basis, so I quickly abandoned that idea. Here are a few more points to consider:

1. The unit is much bigger than I thought it was when I looked at the photo on Amazon. Be sure to check out the dimensions before you buy it (see photo).

2. If you have a vertical window that is recessed into the wall more than one inch or so, the four inch wide window kit that comes with the machine will not work without you doing some sort of modification. This is because the oval-shaped vent in the kit is about three inches wide, but it quickly flares out to a 6 inch diameter circular vent. In my case, I had to buy a 4 inch wide (1/2" thick) board to place in my window, just to the right of the window kit, along with additional weatherstripping, in order to make it fit in my window (see photo).

3. Whether the fan is on high or low, it is very noisy, especially when the unit is cooling. I could not even imagine sleeping in a room with this noise, unless the only choice was sleeping in a very hot room, then I'd have to get used to it. Keep in mind, however, that the fan runs continuously, whether or not the unit is cooling. It only goes off when you turn off the power.

4. The direction of the vent can only be adjusted vertically, not from side to side.

5. While the exhaust hose can be extended to a maximum length of 59 inches, the minimum vent height above the bottom of the machine is 12 inches, and the maximum vent height above the bottom of the machine is 47 inches (photo from the manual). Also, the vent should be free of any kinks.

6. The unit uses 900 watts of power (photo from corrugated carton).

Nevertheless, with all of the above reservations, this machine really delivers the cold air and my room stays much cooler than before, and for that I am very satisfied with the purchase. In addition, the unit comes with a remote control with the same functions as those on the main unit. It is very convenient to use.

One other note: there are two drain plugs on the back of the machine. The first one is located about 15 inches above the base of the machine. If you want to continually keep the machine drained, this is the only way to go. A one foot (approx.) clear plastic hose is provided for that drain, but it will also accept any 3/4 inch threaded hose (I used a 3/4 inch washing machine hose). I ran that hose into a large glass bottle by drilling a hole into the plastic bottle lid and inserted the hose's other end (very easy).

The other drain plug is located about one inch from the base of the machine. It holds the contents of an internal tank. You can use one drain or the other, but you wouldn't use both. If you use the internal tank and it fills up, the machine will stop emitting cold air, although the fan will continue blowing, then the display will give an error message indicating a full tank. While I haven't tried this method, I think it would be much more inconvenient in use, especially if your machine is sitting on the floor. I hope this review helps. Thanks for reading.

Best Deals on SPT Single Hose Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU

The air conditioner was very easy to set up and use. Very light weight and with the wheels it makes it very easy to move around. My bedroom in the summer goes from 85degrees to 72degrees in a matter of not even a half hour. Thank you again.

Honest reviews on SPT Single Hose Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU

The pictures of the AC are a bit inaccurate, it looks like its colored a dated cream, but it's actually a stylish white and dark grey.

It does a great job cooling my 250 sq. ft. bedroom. However, it does exhaust a lot of air out the window, so I have to keep the door closed so hot air doesn't come from the hallway.

Not all of the moisture gets exhausted though the window, and there is a hose in the back that water slowly drips, so you do have to have an empty bottle at the end of the rubber hose.

The remote control is great, and it has an LCD display on it so you can actually see which setting are you changing.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. It's the lest expensive Portable AC that I could find (that is not an evaporative AC) and it does a great job cooling. I would recommend it to others.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for SPT Single Hose Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU

Ordered the SPT 8000 BTU Portable AC (with Single Hose) on 8/10/12 and with Prime got it next day Saturday delivery just in time for one of our hotter CA weekends so far this summer and glad we did.

Set up was easy and was up and running in half an hour enjoying the fast cooling from this no nonsense portable. Installation instructions were clear, controls on the unit and the remote easy for us to understand. The one thing I wish they had on this is a "follow me" feature on the remote that sounds useful, but even without that extra we are very much enjoying our cool new machine (pun intended) and am seriously considering another one over a econo-window unit.

The fan is loud on high (so you do have to leave the general vicinity to take a phone call or turn up the volume on the TV but I couldn't imagine any others not having the same affect) and just this side noticeable on low (very tolerable IMO), there is no in-between setting. Seems solidly built and practical for what you get and ion high this unit cooled a home office and bedroom (connected by a hallway) very well. The venting was straight forward, not sure about the draining yet for the condensation/water pan but it is fairly easy to access.

Staying cool without too much fuss so this is highly recommended!

I own the Traeger Junior, and I was unhappy with the medium setting on the three position temperature switch (it was too hot, often close to 300 degrees), so I decided to upgrade.

I recommend installing the new controller by removing the hopper:

1. Remove the two screws on the old controller.

2. Remove the pellet hopper (it's only held on by 4 screws). I also removed the 4 screws on the bottom of the hopper to make the final installation easier.

3. Feed the old controller through the front of the hopper. This will allow you to completely remove the pellet hopper and get it out of the way.

4. Install the temperature probe (RTD) per the directions; the diagram isn't great, but it's much better than the written directions.

5. Cut all the the zip ties.

6. To keep from improperly connecting the wires or having to study the wiring diagram, simply disconnect the old wires (pull apart the molex connectors with a slight rocking motion)and reconnect the new wires ONE AT A TIME.

6. At this point your done with the connections. I turned on my Traeger briefly to make sure the fans turned on and the LED illuminated. Make sure there aren't any wires interfering with either fan.

7. I used lots of zip-ties to clean up the installation.

8. Feed the new controller through the hole in the hopper.

9. Attach the hopper

10. Attach the controller

11. Look under the hopper to make sure there aren't any wires interfering with the fan(use more zip-ties if necessary), and install the bottom of the hopper.

I am a college student, so I bought the junior Traeger model, which does not come with the digital thermostat kit. After smoking my first set of ribs I went straight to my computer and bought this because controlling the temperature with the 3-speed was quite a pain. Many burger patties and racks of ribs later I am still completely satisfied with my purchase.

Note: This takes a bit of work to install, so unless you are at least somewhat comfortable working with electronics then I would find a friend who is to install it. Still, don't let this deter you from buying it. The kit does not require any soldering to install.

Best Deals on Traeger Digital Thermostat Kit BAC236

got thermostat quickly and in great shape, have older grill with smaller hole, followed instructions and fit in. turned on and works great have grilledand smoked several times since.

Honest reviews on Traeger Digital Thermostat Kit BAC236

Installed on a Traeger Junior. Works great, with some limitations.

-Install was pretty straightforward, but you should be comfortable with hand tools, and confident in disand re-assembling things. Also, have zip ties available. I took the advice of the reviewer who pulled the whole hopper/firebox assembly out of the grill first. Great idea!!! Just make sure you empty the hopper first. You'll still have pellet spillage from the auger tube, but totally worth the effort. Keep in mind you have two fans to keep the wire bundles clear of when you're putting it all back together, and you'll do fine. The only fairly tricky part (or advanced finesse part) is re-mating the hopper/firebox assembly to the grill body after the thermometer probe is bolted inside the grill and the lead has been run into the hopper body. You'll figure it out. I am experienced and competent with this sort of task; a proper, professional conversion to this thermostat took me about 45 minutes. And two tallboys.

-Performance and fine-tuning are much improved over the 3-speed controller, and that's exactly what I wanted. This unit totally delivers. The feedback from the digital grill temp indicator is nice. I compared the digital display to a calibrated grill thermometer over a 3-hour smoke. Concurrence ranged from spot-on, to +/20 degreesF. This is likely due to the vertical orientation of the Traeger controller's probe. Overall, the onboard digital display is useful and can be considered a decent general guide to average grill temp over time. You will still need to periodically monitor your grill to ensure that you're not going over/under your desired grill or smoke temp. If you're pretty hands-on (OCD?) like me, upgrading to this unit will not give you true "set it and forget it" capability, but it is MUCH better than the stock 3-speed "dumb" control.

-Be aware that there is NO feedback from the temp sensor to the auger drive! They are separate! The temp on the grill does NOT influence the behavior of the auger timing. What you get with this unit is a much finer resolution control of the auger's dump behavior (by virtue of the increased number of set points on the dial), plus a feedback from the digital display of what's going on inside the grill temperature-wise. The dial setting and the digital readout are VERY roughly correlated, but actual working temp on the grill varies depending on ambient conditions, wind, moisture content of pellets, etc.

-Startup sequence is pretty genius. Once the new control was installed, I ran a test burn on the grill by powering on and setting to "smoke", per Traeger's startup advice. After about 3 minutes, I got really worried and thought I had a runaway controller! Set at smoke, the grill temp was 450+ degrees once it got going. I was not happy, but let it run a bit longer. The auger speed settled down (once the fire was well-established), and all was well. It appears that the controller is programmed to run a startup sequence that will ensure positive firebox lightup and grill chamber pre-heat, then settles down to whatever setting you've put it on. This behavior has been consistent over many subsequent grill/smoke sessions, and no longer freaks me out. I just expect the grill to blaze hard upon startup, then settle down and cook as I have it set.

Overall, this product gave me exactly what I wanted in terms of vastly better control of Traeger temp while cooking, plus a general indication of grill chamber temp. Install was reasonable, and I'm quite pleased. No regrets AT ALL about this purchase (except that Traeger put these on sale on their website for $20 less, the week after I installed mine. Timing is everything!).

I've been looking at Internet accessible thermostats for almost a year and this one provides the best remote interface for multiple thermostats that I've seen. Had problems getting first thermostat to connect to my network. Took three support calls before we discovered the tstats I received had older firmware. Once I uploaded new firmware they connected immediately.

Quality of the thermostat is poor. But not worse than my Honeywell that I replaced. This is the reason I didn't give it a full star rating.

UPDATE

We're been traveling for two months and I have appreciated being able to check the indoor temp of my Arizona home and adjust as needed. TStats have worked much better then my on again/off again security system run by a major home security company. I now plan to add one of these TStats to my second home.

I have three of these, All three have the same problem, on power loss, the wireless card does not restart. I fixed this by using a small computer UPS in the basement. Now it never fails. Great features. And very best part is it supports a rest protocol so you can write code and control it with a computer on the same network. I wrote code to display the outside temperature and the overnight low at the bottom of the screen. I do love this thermostat.

Best Deals on Homewerks Radio Thermostat CT-80-H-K1 Wireless Thermostat

I had some trouble getting this hooked up initially, but that was not the fault of the product, just an insanely complicated 12+ heating and cooling wiring schematic for my Lennox heat pump. Getting the WiFi connnected and operating was a pain too, but once you figure it out, and I did after several tries, I never had problems after that. The WiFi feature is superb. I can control the temp using my phone (works with android and i-phone), and it works perfectly. So worth it since my bedroom is on the third floor and thermostat is on 2nd. Also nice to be able to turn the temp up or down while I am away from the house. Excellent product, and the customer service was great too when I called to double-check my wiring plan just prior to install. I had to call at least three times and they were very responsive and helpful each time. Don't waste money with a monthly service or other units that cost twice the price. This one works great, and I am happy with the purchase.

Honest reviews on Homewerks Radio Thermostat CT-80-H-K1 Wireless Thermostat

I was initially shooting for a Nest, but then I learned how closed it was to anything but their stuff controlling it. My interest in a wireless thermostat is specifically so I can do two things. Integrate it with my current Home Automation stuff, mostly Insteon devices run by a computer with the PowerHome software. The second being the ability to access the thermostat remotely. Programming was a nice upgrade from my old thermostat as well, it was a dumb one with just a slider. Didn't even tell you the current temperature, so it's nice to look at the wall and see the temp now.

I've not done a lot with the API yet. Did some setting changes for fun and pulled some data with PowerShell using the Invoke-WebRequest Cmdlet, which requires PowerShell 3.0. I intend to set up functions and such on PowerHome to do things like set Away mode when we leave the house and hit the away button on my Insteon keypad.

The most important thing starting out of course was getting it installed and getting it configured and running before we melted. I think it took me about an hour and that includes hooking up the C wire using a spare that wasn't hooked into the old thermostat. This is considering I'm not very handy and not electrically inclined. I managed to get it all hooked up and had no issues at all. I was easily able to link to it after it powered on and connect it to my network, then do a firmware update. After that I set a schedule. We changed the schedule a day or two later because the first one was awful and it was all easy to do with the iPhone app.

I've seen others say it's poor quality and stuff, I'm not sure what they mean, it seems nice to me. I mean, it's plastic, but I've never seen a non-plastic thermostat before. I guess I don't know what a good "quality" thermostat is, but I'm very satisfied with the appearance of this one. Obviously I'd love if they would add a model that's more shiny, like the Nest is, but really, in the end, it's just a thermostat.

Just a note, the only issue we had was the app I installed on my wife's Windows Phone 8 device, whoever wrote it has/had a bug, existing as of 6/23/2013, that caused the heat to cut on randomly. Like we'd have the air on, but it would switch it to heat. I'm not sure what the problem is, they have a nearly identical app in the Windows 8 app store that doesn't seem to cause the same issue when I use it on my SurfaceRT.

I have owned 2 of the 50's for over 1.5 years. I have one in winter area and one in Hawaii. I installed myself. I have variable speed forced air and electric air in winter home. I had some challenge getting it all running. Also have on Droid phone. The connecting of thermostat was easy as long as you follow directions. WIfi instructions with Apple were the most difficult to interpret. But thermostat worked manually until I figured out wifi with some phone help. Call back time will vary but useful. I get notified when thermostat goes off line because of power outages (which will also affect furnace and air). I check (all for free) online for house temperature to make sure all is well and no frozen pipes due to outage. In Hawaii I have heat pump with both air and ( I don't know why) heat. Old regular thermostat would revert to heat after power outage (They say because all thermostats made for mainland default to heat to prevent frozen pipes Like autos come to Hawaii with heated seats and useless Serius radio due to no satellite signal this far south. ). Anyway after paying heating bill during summer in Hawaii I changed to the 50. All works well. The only hitch was I have 2 stage fan and 50 was only available and the later released 80 will handle the 2 stage fan. But I have had zero problems with the 3M 50 products and I can monitor both homes and change both temps from my devices from one free site. I turn up heat or air when I fly into airport so all is comfortable when I arrive. Even though set up can take some patience they are well worth the pursuit.

I love this little heater! It is never warm in my building, but it puts out a lot of heat and keeps me very warm and toasty all day at work. It has an over-heat feature (automatic shut-off), which is especially good from a safety aspect, two heat settings, and an adjustable thermostat so that you can choose the level of warmth you prefer. It is also much quieter than other portable heaters I have used in the past. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

This thing is small, but heats a normal sized bedroom really well. It's not too noisy and has several different settings to adjust. It also isn't hot to the touch which is great for me since I have a toddler in the house that likes to get into everything. I would definitely recommend this to others!

I decided to review this because I saw bad reviews and I have used this heater in a travel trailer I lived in for 18 months and it works great. I was googling how to clean it when I came across this site. This heater worked great for the price and I ran it many, many hours. I would not leave a portable heater with a fan on when I am not at home, if you need to do that I suggest you get a quartz, infrared, or oil filled portable heater with no moving parts. With that said there is a switch if a pet or someone knocks it over it will shut off. I would recommend periodically blowing it out with compressed air like the cans for computers if you use it a lot. I had to disassemble to clean the dust from mine which was easy except for two plastic corners that space the heating element that I did not see how they were set before they fell out. I figured it out an it's running like new. The initial smell when you purchase it is normal for all portable heaters and will burn off. As far the 150 square foot rating that is really a guess. Outside temperature, R-value of the walls, thermal mass of the structure are all things that effect that. For it's small size it puts out quite a bit of heat but it won't heat a 30 foot trailer in 5 degree F weather. Unlike an oil filled heater it instantly starts putting out heat and it is directional. For a small inexpensive heater it has run a lot of hours with no problems.

I used this for about 3 months. The dial started not working and then smoke started coming out from the dial area. Don't leave it on while you are out.

My unit gives off a "hot plastic" smell when turned on. It doesn't bother me that much, but the wife is concerned about the possible health effects the odor might have on the kids. I have a total of about 48 hours run time on the unit, and if the smell doesn't burn-off soon, then I'll have to take the unit back.

I bought the unit for the Travel Trailer to do some winter (Holiday) camping. Electricity is included in the site rent, so why not use an electric heater instead of using my propane? The trailer is 250 sq. ft. interior. I had to go to Home Depots web site to find that the unit only heats 150 sq. ft. It'd be nice to have that info on the box before opening. The unit is only good for a 20 degree ambient rise in temperature. So if it's 35 degree out, inside will be 55 degrees. A bit cool. You can buy the taller model, but it's still only rated 1,500 watts for 150 sq. ft. Home Depot carries my unit for $22. If the smell burns off, I might another and run both.

I have used many heated blankets and heated pads, this by far is the softest, nicest one yet. Most of the lower cost ones are somewhat on the stiff side but this one is soft and smooth as a regular lite blanket. I place this blanket between the top comforter and the flat sheet. My only disappointment is there are several models of this same blanket but with different controllers. What actual controller you receive tells you the features, but unfortunately the product descriptions all show the same controller in the photo, which is the one I received. The Sunbeam website as well as the directions included tells you to pick which controller you have, then the chart tells you if you have the 10-hour cutoff, which I had, the "preheat feature", which I did not, etc. As I type this I see the next review before this one says he has the preheat feature. I saw this same blanket at a Fred Meyers in Seattle with the digital controller that was nicer with the preheat for the same cost for mine. Only other disappointment, as with all blankets and pads, is the stiff uncooperative wiring that has the controller constantly falling off the nightstand. We finally started leaving the controllers on the floor. Overall, the nicest actual blanket itself I have ever had and I would still certainly suggest it.

This absolutely meets our needs. Very soft and lush feeling. Warms up quickly and holds a nice temp at low settings. Only criticism is that it tends to want to 'slide' down off the end of the bed. But if you have a footboard it probably would not happen. As with all electric blankets the controls never want to sit on the night stands so they are facing the bed!

I was disappointed that this model doesn't have the "preheat" function. I was also disappointed that it wasn't as "plush" as the photo would lead one to believe. It does heat the bed quite well. All things considered, it is adequate. That is, it does the job. I neither Not recommend nor do I recommend--you decide!

The ring to screw down was not exactly the same but, a little tugging later, I had the original hold down on the new fuse. Up and working a couple of minutes after I started. Could not have been easier.

After reading so many reviews about the generality of fryers, mainly: that the temperature of the oil doesn't heat up to the specified temperature and that they broke down in a couple uses, I was about to give up buying any at all. But then I persisted and stumbled upon this one. For the right dimension, price, and the features shown to persuade me despite the fact the the brand name sounds like some Chinese made up a couple of simple English words to make it more Americanized, I've decided that this should suffice given the bad news about fryers anyways.

Premise:

After I received the box of the product, at the bottom says "Due to continued improvement, the product illustrated on this carton may vary slightly from the actual product." I also see several bad grammars around it and as well as the manual. I don't even fully trust what the manual tells me and most of the stuff written is mostly to me, common sense.

Design:

I inspected the parts given to me and I wasn't impressed since after all, "I get what I paid for" like what everyone in Amazon says. It looks and feels cheap. What swing my mood was that the detachable handle for the basket was so complicated, yet so risky to put on, that I became pessimistic and I felt that I made the wrong choice. Last thing I need was this thing acting like a home-grown terrorist bomb in my kitchen (see: http://www.amazon.com/review/R12QI2SN5O1OZ8/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00005KB37&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=#wasThisHelpful)!

Overall experience:

I was wary on the first use and decided to try frying up some instant noodles with it. It actually turned out fried in less than a minute with the max heat (375 F). I regained some confidence for the product and then decide to fry up the next dish, breaded fish fillet. With careful procedures, the cooking execution came out successful and I was happy with the product. I've then made more fry dishes after and there wasn't any problem. The window isn't that great for viewing as steam always fogs it up. Vapor would seep into the two-layer lid (metal and plastic).

The clean-up a bit tedious. I first had to transfer the oil. Add hot water just enough to swivel it inside to get some oil out. Do a couple of rinsing and then start scrubbing it with a soapy sponge. The whole cleaning was mostly done in the frying ditch. To rinse the soap, I just repeatedly fill it halfway with water and pour. Then I just wipe off the remaining soap.

Edit 5/6/2013:

Dropped the rating from 3 stars to 1.

Product broke after several uses. I was frying potato slices and fries when it stopped dead on me. Very sure that the plug was still intact as I checked many times. My power ports aren't damaged. My theory is that all my cooking with the fryer was above 300 F and the circuit board was overheated for too long. If this is the case, I won't even waste anymore money just to get a replacement even though I'm warranted for 1 year in their policy paper because it will die again. The shipping money to their manufacture will just add up to more than $30. I would have kept the rating as a 3 if they were honest with the pricing per uses, such as $10 for 5 uses since it did cook my food well.

This is a really good deep fryer that is suitably sized for 1-2 servings of your everyday things like fries, onion rings, egg rolls etc. I have found that it also acts very well as a steamer; just a little water & the lid snaps closed. The reason that I give it only 4 stars tho, instead of 5, is because of the magnetized cord...it makes it very easy for someone like me with arthritis in my hands to plug it into the fryer but it also detaches very easily & unnoticebly, which makes me nervous because if its still plugged into the wall thats live electricity coming thru it, so i recommend that purchasers of this product be aware of this. Other than that one thing I believe anyone would be very pleased with it.

When opening the lid on this unit oil that has condensed on the underside of the hood runs right down the back of the unit creating an oily mess on your counter top. I did not overfill the unit. Also basket handle gets very hot. You need a pot holder to remove it from the basket. I am not pleased with this deep fryer.
