Changed my mechanical t-stat in a new travel trailer to this digital one. I had 2 portable thermometers in the TT, one in the front and one in the back, and this t-stat is in the middle. They all 3 read exactly the same temp, which is good. When I first fired up the furnace on an outing this weekend is when I noticed the quirk, which may be a quirk with all digital t-stats in such a small area. The temp in the TT was reading 62 on all 3 thermometers so I fired up the furnace and set it to 68 then went outside with our friends. I came back in about 30 minutes later because I noticed the furnace was still running and found the inside of the TT to be 82 as registered on the 2 portable thermometers. The t-stat read 67. At first I thought the t-stat was bad so I shut it down and left it. I went back in the TT about an hour later and the thermometer on the t-stat registered 76.

I came to the conclusion it takes the digital t-stat a little longer to register the true ambient room temp when you are increasing the current temp by more than just a degree or two. So, I played a little and found the t-stat works flawlessly if you keep the room within a couple of degrees but if you want to increase it by as much as 5 degrees you need to get the room AND t-stat to the desired room temp first before it will control the temp accurately.

Easy to install, simple. Replaced a mechanical thermostat which was hard to get set because any adjustment would move about 5 degrees, The White-Rodgers adjusts at 1 degree intervals.

Works as advertised, nothing fancy about this thermostat but at that price I can't complain. I guess the only thing I might ask for is a more modern and sleek design, but then again, that would just make it cost more. Easy installation, display is easy to read, buttons work without effort. If you don't need a programmable thermostat this one will do the trick.

Good value. It works well, it's light and compact. However it's a bit noisy. I wanted a discreet heater to use in my office, and it's not really quiet. One security feature includes a button under the heater which will turn off the heater if it rolls over. However, it will also turn off the heater if it stand on a soft surface (like carpet) which can be annoying.

We bought this unit in January 2010 for use in our small RV. We used it on two trips. On the second one, the heater suddenly gave us a fireworks display of tiny sparks. I am so bummed. I studied so many reviews before purchasing this space heater. This specific heater didn't have many reviews, but from what I read all over Amazon.com, Optimus is a great brand and this heater was very affordable. I only had it for 3 months and saw a little flame and heard a zap (that sounded like a bug zapper) and quickly turned it off. Of course it is past the Amazon return policy, so what a waste of money! I wish I knew how to contact the seller directly to get a replacement. I know that it is beyond the return policy, but they should make an exception for a fire hazard! Very scary. I'm glad I was in the room when it happened so I could turn it off as quickly as possible.

Overall, I'm happy with these fans (I bought 2). Fans run quietly, and speed up when the extra air is needed (I'm using them as exhaust fans). They must plug into the power supply (can't just plug into mobo). Since they have temperature sensors on them I only used the power supply connection.

Fan does what it is supposed to do which is increase or decrease speed based upon the temperature of a sensor. It seems pretty quiet. I think it makes a lot of sense if your backplate has this size vent on it, to install it for some additional airflow, but you should be careful not to blow air towards your CPU (it doesn't seem to like this even if the air is cold.)

Double check and make sure you have the sensor mounted on the outside if you want an exhaust fan or the thermal sensor on the inside if you want an intake fan.

I am very pleased with the performance of this water heater. I have burnt up coils before, in just a few days, so I was reluctant to spend the money. I'm glad that I did. This heater worked fabulously on a 3 week trip to Peru at 220 voltage, and a week in Jamaica at 110, and is still going strong. It can bring water to boiling surprisingly fast. My wife and I travel 3-5 times a year. We both enjoy either tea or flavored coffees. Hotels and cruise ships do fine for delivering ready made coffee, but hot water is not always hot. By the time it goes into their thermos or pot, then is poured into a cold ceramic cup/mug, it is not at all piping hot! So, we either run water through the coffee maker without coffee and get that wonderful acidy after taste, or use the luke warm water provided.

This little travel pot is great. It is faster than our previous Frantz unit, and works perfect. The first dozen or so uses had a plastic tasting flavor, but we seem to have worked past that. Weight is not bad, size is minimal, and the piece nest together nicely for packing in a suitcase. The voltage can adapt to whatever country you are in, and we've never not been able to use it. Hotels, cruise ships, even bed and breakfasts. This unit gives us the flexibility to have morning or afternoon coffee at our leisure, and to have it HOT!

I'm a frequent business traveler. I've had multiple immersion coils fail after a few uses so as far as I'm concerned they're worthless. Plus they don't work well anyway. This heater does a great job and is relatively small so I can take it with me when I do just carry-on luggage. I've had it for a month and so far it's lasted longer than any coil. If it fails I'll come back and let you know. Highly recommended

This thing is small, but heats a normal sized bedroom really well. It's not too noisy and has several different settings to adjust. I decided to review this because I saw bad reviews and I have used this heater in a travel trailer I lived in for 18 months and it works great. I was googling how to clean it when I came across this site. This heater worked great for the price and I ran it many, many hours. I would not leave a portable heater with a fan on when I am not at home, if you need to do that I suggest you get a quartz, infrared, or oil filled portable heater with no moving parts. With that said there is a switch if a pet or someone knocks it over it will shut off. I would recommend periodically blowing it out with compressed air like the cans for computers if you use it a lot. I had to disassemble to clean the dust from mine which was easy except for two plastic corners that space the heating element that I did not see how they were set before they fell out. I figured it out an it's running like new. The initial smell when you purchase it is normal for all portable heaters and will burn off. As far the 150 square foot rating that is really a guess. Outside temperature, R-value of the walls, thermal mass of the structure are all things that effect that. For it's small size it puts out quite a bit of heat but it won't heat a 30 foot trailer in 5 degree F weather. Unlike an oil filled heater it instantly starts putting out heat and it is directional. For a small inexpensive heater it has run a lot of hours with no problems.

My unit gives off a "hot plastic" smell when turned on. It doesn't bother me that much, but the wife is concerned about the possible health effects the odor might have on the kids. I have a total of about 48 hours run time on the unit, and if the smell doesn't burn-off soon, then I'll have to take the unit back.

I bought the unit for the Travel Trailer to do some winter (Holiday) camping. Electricity is included in the site rent, so why not use an electric heater instead of using my propane? The trailer is 250 sq. ft. interior. I had to go to Home Depots web site to find that the unit only heats 150 sq. ft. It'd be nice to have that info on the box before opening. The unit is only good for a 20 degree ambient rise in temperature. So if it's 35 degree out, inside will be 55 degrees. A bit cool. You can buy the taller model, but it's still only rated 1,500 watts for 150 sq. ft. Home Depot carries my unit for $22. If the smell burns off, I might another and run both.

It has easy to use thermostat and fan controls, puts out plenty enough heat for most small bedrooms, and has a great fan output while remaining very quiet by using a blower instead of regular fan blades. I originally purchased this heater to use in the garage when I work on my cars during cold weather. For kicks, since my master bedroom tends to get colder than other rooms during the winter, I tried it in there and it works great. It's reasonably quiet, much more so than a few other space heaters I've tried that were advertised as "quiet". The two knobs are simple to use. With the heat knob at about 40% of full setting and the fan knob at the second lowest setting, it does a great job of keeping a large bedroom, a large bathroom, and a large closet nice and toasty all night. This heater blows a ton of hot air at full setting, much more than is need in most rooms. At 40-50% setting, it blows warm, comfortable air, does *not* get hot enough to burn, and I can comfortably rest my hand over the front grill. It is child and pet friendly. The unit is well put together and sturdy. It's virtually impossible to tip it over. It pivots to adjust the airflow angle. This is one of the better purchases I have made in a long time. I would buy it again without hesitation. I rate it four stars simply because it's not silent.

I did quite a bit of research before buying an electric fireplace. I decided the best look for my home would be a cherry, corner unit, and firmly believed that any fire box smaller than 26" wouldn't cut it. This Dimplex unit fit the bill exactly. It was packed and delivered with care. The cherry finish matches the photo exactly, and the fire box is a perfect size with realistic logs and flames. Another positive is that the heater motor is very quiet, and my 46" flat panel TV sits perfectly on top. Now, there are 2 important negatives. Even though it was easy to set up, the entire unit is wobbly unless you anchor it to the wall, and I also believe that all the top end fireplaces I viewed, including the Dimplex I purchased, were over-priced by as much as $400.00. That said, I'm still happy with my fireplace. It looks great.

I bought this for my master bedroom and put a 37" TV on it. Its the perfect height and size. It has precense in the room and is the right size for the TV. In addition its great to use in the winter to heat up the master for those mornings you don't want to get out of bed. I also use it in the summer without the heat just for the ambiance the fire creates. The design is simple and beautiful. Its a very clean look and has held up great over the past year. It is wobbly free-standing, but when pushed into the corner it doesn't really move.

This is a great unit and just like it states it is wisper quiet. Easy to read digital temp. Took about 5 min to warm a 63 degree room to 72! Takes up little space, I put mine in the corner and you don't even know its there. It is also an attractive unit that I don't mind having in any room of the house. The remote controol is a plus also. I bought this heater for my living room. I have central heat and air, but this helps me save money on my heating bill. It's slightly more expensive than other ceramic heaters, but it has an air purifier and a remote control. None of the cheaper ceramic heaters have those features. You don't realize how handy the remote control is unless you have owned an electric heater without one. You can make minor adjustments to its thermostat with the remote control. You can adjust the thermostat from 64 to 90 degrees. It has a big, bright LCD display on the front that shows the temperature and other information. Many people seem to prefer those electric oil-filled heaters, but some of them can take forever to heat up a room. This heater produces a lot of heat quickly. It's rated at 5,200 BTUs. A small air conditioner has a rating of about 10,000 BTUs. It also has the ability to automatically alternate between high and low power when it's in AUTO mode. It doesn't always use 1500 watts of electricity because of that. Sometimes it will only use 950 watts if a room is already warm. The Sunpentown SH-1508 is the best electric heater I have ever owned.

I would have to give this rating a one star unfortunately. THe heater while in itself is a great cost you must be warned of the manufacturing of the product itself. I have two of these heaters purchased within a few weeks of each other. One worked well, we were so pleased that we ordered another (my roomies and myself) unfortunately the first one came broken, making a horrible clicking sound and the company (SPT)has refused to help. Amazon did send a replacement for the first and then the second one arrived making an horrible buzzing noise. Amazon was not willing to replace this one. Today is the 8th week of owning both the heaters. THe first one's face plate caught fire today because of poor wiring used in the assembly of the heater, and the second one I am afraid will do the same. This product almost set fire to my house and everything that we own.

I cannot reccomend this product to anyone. Although the price is fine (money wise) is it really worth risking far much more than sixty something dollars if it costs you your life? I do not think so. I am so upset by this that I will write to amazon.com today strongly recommending that this product be removed from their site. Because if three products have thus far been malfunctioning who knows how many more of these are out there will similar situations. So far I have found over 200 similar stories about this product. This machine is larger than many ceramic models but nice looking and heats very well. The fan is very quiet. I like that you can use it as a fan without heat as well. My only complaint is that the blue LCD that tells the temperature does not dim or shut off and is VERY bright. Too bright for a bedroom. Really lights it up. I'll be looking for some way of safely masking it. Otherwise very nice but hope it lasts.

OCTOBER 08' UPDATE:

2 California coastal winters (mild and short) and it's dead. Well not dead, but working erratically (noisy, not shutting off when the room reaches the Auto shut off temp, ...) No longer safe or usable.

For the bright light, I masked it with electrical tape. Safe and effective.

After reading dozens of reviews on dozens of heaters, I gave up and ordered what looked good. So far, I very happy with this one. Although assembly was indicated, it came fully assembled. It heats my son's bedroom (10 x 12) in very short order and it takes the chill off my living room (16 x 22). I switched to a pellet heater as my primary fuel and there are some areas of my home that just stay cool. I'm confident this will do the job on all but the coldest of days (Mid-Michigan). The directions are easy to understand and the remote is simple to use. The only drawback is the LED panel is super bright for my sleeping preference (great nightlight for a kid) and when the timer (max 7.5 hour) shuts the unit off, it seems to erase the preset room temp. It then defaults back to 75 degrees. Could be I haven't figured it out yet but either way, that's a minor thing to me. Overall, I think I got a good deal on a good heater.

Be careful when ordering this Item. I was shopping for a programmable thermostat when I ran across this item. I thought it would be great to see the outside temperature displayed when checking my thermostat. I purchased a Honeywell RTH8500D thermostat to use with this sensor. The thermostat was on sale and the Amazon web page for the sensor indicated it would work with the thermostat. I copied and pasted part of the technical details from the web page for the sensor below:

After receiving, programming and starting the installation process, I discovered the sensor would not work with the thermostat. The thermostat sub-base lacks the terminals required to connect the sensor wires. I downloaded additional installation instructions and discovered a TH8320U1008 VISION PRO 8000 thermostat is required for the sensor feature. I returned to the sensor web page and noticed the reference to the VISION PRO thermostat was listed. Trouble is it also advises it works with the T8500 family thermostats. It does not. I returned the thermostat to Amazon and ordered the correct unit. However it costs more and Honeywell won't warranty it unless it's installed by a PRO. They don't define what a PRO is. Anyway it's very easy to configure, install and program. The creature's been operational for several weeks now and I'm pleased with It's performance. Amazon treated me very fairly with this issue, but the error is still on the Amazon web page for the sensor.

Really appreciate the chart with the resistance/temp values. Leads are too short, though, and will not fit into the S1/S2 terminal blocks on the Honeywell 8000 series thermostats without stripping away some of the strands to make the conductor pack thinner. Overall, though a quality product.
