I installed an exhaust fan in my garage. I wanted it to come on and go off automatically. I bought the Duct Stat for this purpose. I mounted the Duct Stat to a rafter in the garage, making sure the air hole in the back was unobstructed. I plugged the Duct Stat into a 110v outlet that was all ready installed in the garage. Then I plugged the fan into the Duct Stat. Here is how I set the temperature: First I put a thermometer in the garage. When the temperature in the garage reached the temperature I wanted the fan to come on, I set the Duct Stat. I moved the switch on the Duct Stat to heat. This sounds backwards but it's not in this case. Remember this devise was designed to be used in ducting. I moved the adjustment screw until the fan came on. No need to move it anymore. When the temperature gets to the set point the fan comes on. It will stay on as long as temperature stays above this point. If the temperature drops below this point it will turn off. This setup works perfectly and keeps my garage a lot cooler in the hot summer months.

Works great!!! Would recommend. Simple to install easy to set runs two 6" fans flawlessly. Balanced the heat in the two farthest rooms in my house.

We live in Maine and we have an air-tight fireplace to supplement heating in our home. It has a cement block air chamber around it with a 110V fan used to move air from floor level ... through the air chamber area ... and then out into the home via slotted vents in the chimney above the fireplace. The problem was that we would turn off the fan when we went to bed so that it would not run all night after the fire died out and thereby loose out on circulating the heat during those first several hours when the fire was still burning. So ... I ordered the DuctStat (which arrived on time and in good condition) hoping to automate the fan to turn on when the heat in the air chamber reached about 75, then continue to run until the fire died out and the temperature dropped below 75, hence turning off the fan.

When I received the DuctStat I used a hair dryer and IR temp gun to set the ON/OFF point and then plugged it into the fans electrical circuit. We used it last night and it worked perfectly. I am very happy with the results so far and if it continues to operate as it did last night, I would give this product the fifth star.

The DuctStat 100 thermostat seems like a nice little unit for what I'm doing, but so far the first one they sent was defective. I'm hoping the relacement works. I can't give it more than 2 stars until I see it work!

Also, ClimateDoctors didn't put enough postage on the first shipment so I had to go all the way down to the post office to pay the postage due before I could receive my package. To their credit, ClimateDoctors gave me a rapid refund of the postage due.

Ordered this digital thermostat to replace a mercury type and to match one like it in another zone. I knew already how easy this one is to use. Keep in mind this is not a programmable type but does all that I want it to. I got it for a great price much less than it cost to have the one in the other zone installed when the system was originally put in.

Installation is very simple. The directions are clear and cover every possible scenario. The one thing to be aware of is that you have to line up the pins perfectly or you can bend them which is what I did on my first attempt. The bent pin meant no connection and the result was the fan did not go on. I called tech support who went over all the possible problems. Apparently a bent pin was not on his list of problems because he did not come up with it as a solution. Luckily I noticed the bent pin, straightened it out, lined them up with the receptors and voila, everything worked beautifully!

I am now a very happy camper!

I bought this same unit 4 years ago. I have two heating and cooling units. So I like the first one well enough to use it again on the second air conditioner. I prefer a manual thermostat since I am retired and have no set schedule for being out of the house. Would I buy it again? I did.

Excellent display and simple controls allow me to achieve a comfortable temperature while keeping energy costs down. No programmable thermostat offers the same convenience and efficiency.

All I wanted was a t-stat that was a tap up or down to be able to adjust the temperature for a pellet stove. This does even more without being busy or overly complicated. Easy to install, works great with no phoo-phoo or other bling. Good price.

This is a good heater. We have purchased it for our bathroom and it does a good job in heating it quickly. We know it states it is not intended for a bathroom, but those that are rated for a bathroom just have a GFI on the end of the power cord. We already have a GFI outlet that I use offering the same protection.

The timer is a nice feature and easy to set from 1 hour to 7 hours or anywhere in-between in increments of one hour. The oscillation works as expected. The power level is either 900 watts or 1500 watts. All of those options are easy to set.

The thermostat is an area we would like to see improved so that it works at the 900 watt setting. Our bathroom is small and really does not need that much heat. The thermostat only works on the high heat, 1500 watt setting. The manual states this if for "increased efficiency" which I do not understand. 900 watts is 900 watts and 1500 is 1500 watts. Have a thermostat turn it on or off does not make it any more efficient. If you get more BTUs per watt, that would be more efficient in my eyes. Plus, when I tried it on the thermostat, there appears to be a cool down period after you reach the desired temperature which I think is a good for the unit.

We like the heater and would recommend it to others given the above.

We just received our Lasko Ceramic Tower Heater Model #5775 yesterday and could immediately see that this unit really does a great job of heating up our family room. We were using an EdenPURE which was a large applicance, over-priced and not energy efficient. It never really heated the room well. We won't know about the energy cost until we get our next electric bill but as far as the heating it works great!!! It is very quite operating, looks nice and doesn't take up much room. So far we love this heater!!! I had read consumer reviews on this heater which were excellent. Also the price is great. We paid over $300 for the EdenPURE and it was not worth it. It was a rip-off.

Hoping the "plastic bag roasting in the oven" smell eventually wears off. Other than that this works well. I have no idea, still, how the temperature setting works. I left it 65ยบ and it runs for some mysteriously predetermined amount of time and then shuts itself off. Also, it seems that the electronics panel on top stays warm when left plugged in so it's an electricity vampire.

Bought two of these one for my son-in-law in his workshed separate from his house, and another for us to use in our living room. I didn't want to keep heating the whole downstairs floor when we spent most of the evening in the living room only. It did eventually warm the room a few degrees and would have been OK if it didn't keep blowing the breaker switch. Our house has quality wiring and we don't have much of a problem with this sort of thing. We sometime have some pretty heavy electrical loads from an electric stove, electric oven, electric dryer, lighting, and air conditioning with no problem. The house has GFS breakers throughout, as well as the main breaker panel in the garage. Built in 1993. But the constant blowing of the breaker in the main panel dedicated to the living room (where we were only using the TV and one lamp), is too much of an annoyance, so it is basically useless for us. It has to be the heater, because we've run in the living room, the TV, stereo, lamp, main light, another lamp, foot massager, and a massaging chair all at the same time with no trouble. My son-in-law sent his back and got a more powerful heater. His house and workshed are much older (1960s built) but he has no trouble with blowing the breakers with a different brand of more powerful heater. Don't know why this one does it, but it's pulling too many amps or volts or something. I'm not an electrician so I don't know the exact problem but I do know it's related to that heater. No problems when it is not running.

It took more time to remove the old thermostat than it did to install this new one. I did read the instructions carefully, but I did not look all the way through the packaging materials. I made my own wire labels from masking tape and carefully noted what each wire was connected to on the old thermostat. As I was getting the new thermostat out to install it, out pops a complete set of stick-on wire labels! Using those would have saved a few minutes.

The only thing that was not real clear was just when to attach the new thermostat to its wall-mounted base. Since I am using the optional battery backup mode, I found that I could sit in my recliner and program the thermostat, then click it into place on the wall mount. I don't use a lot of alternate programs ... just the same one each day. The "copy" option worked great. Just set up your first day, and copy it to the other days. Simple.

I have a heat pump with a second stage (very expensive to run) electric heat strip. My old thermostat would kick in that second stage whenever I clicked up the temperature setting a bit. This new thermostat lets you set just how far apart the setting for the heat pump and the second stage should be. Also, it has an "early recovery" mode that anticipates the morning "warmup" phase ahead of time, and it starts the phase early and gradually ... once again so that the second stage heat does not kick in unless it is really cold outside.

If there are any negatives, the backlight is not very bright. When you press any button you can see the display in the dark, but it isn't near as bright as a computer monitor or flat-screen tv. Still, if you are going to use this with the batteries as the sole source of power, this level of brightness would probably use minimal battery resources. If your wiring allows powering it directly from the furnace / heat pump, then it is too bad that there is not a brighter setting for the display.

This very versatile programmable thermostat is a great alternative to purchasing a more expensive Honeywell thermostat. This thermostat will readily wire up to any single stage or two-stage heat pump system electric or gas; my unit is a Rheem all electric two-stage heat pump system. Lux shipped the unit promptly and well-packaged. All necessary mounting accessories and clearly-written instructions came with the unit. Installation was a breeze. I must note that if you are a do-it-yourself type, I strongly recommend that you contact Lux and/or your A/C-heater manufacturer to compare notes on which color wire goes to which terminal on your thermostat when connecting the wires. Each system's wiring codes are different, and thermostat makers add extra connection terminals to accommodate as many different systems as possible. For example, in my Rheem system, I have a brown "C" wire that is used as a common for the thermostat and a blue wire that is used to activate one of the heater controls. I connected the brown "C" wire to the "C" terminal and the blue wire to the "B" terminal of the thermostat. In other systems, there is no "C" wire and the blue wire is used as a common. In this particular case, if you were to connect the blue wire to the "B" terminal on your thermostat instead of connecting it to the "C" terminal, you could possibly damage your system. Once wired up correctly, the unit is very easy to program it takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes to set up a 7-day routine that once set, can be left alone and never touched again and it will provide you with round-the-clock automatic temperature adjustments that will save you money and keep your home comfortable.

There is only one small negative to the Lux TX9100E thermostat. In some wiring applications, it may be necessary to insert a jumper wire between two specific terminals to correctly accommodate your particular system's requirements. Lux does not include this jumper wire in its package. You are required to make one yourself if your system requires it.

Installed this Lux 9100E programmable thermostat two days ago. My wife and I just bought our first house a few months ago and it had a very old Honeywell mercury thermostat. It wasn't bad, it worked very well but wanted a thermostat I could program to turn on and off at certain times with set temperatures. We have a Rheem gas furnace with forced hot air and central air with a Rheem air conditioner on the side of the house. So I guess we have a one-stage HVAC system. I did a lot of research on other thermostats (i.e. Honeywell, Hunter) and finally decided to go for the Lux 9100E. Didn't want to spend 100 dollars on a stat so this seemed like a good choice for me as far as bang for the buck, features and most important it has a temperature swing setting. I paid 40 dollars for it on sale at Lowes. Installation was pretty simple and took me 20 minutes......just read the manual and label all wires accordingly as you remove them from the old thermostat. I removed the old thermostat, placed the supplied stickers on the corresponding wires from the old thermostat (G, Y, RH, RC and W) and just matched them to the new thermostat terminals. I needed to jump the `RC' terminal to the `RH' terminal using the supplied wire in the kit. This was shown in the diagram instructions as well as how the old thermostat was set up so I just did the same thing. The only thing that made me scratch my head was I noticed the old thermostat had two wires connected to the old `Y' terminal. I wasn't sure if both should go to the `Y' terminal on the new thermostat or if one of them should go to the `C`(common wire) terminal. It was a Saturday, tech support was not available until Monday, so I thought the best thing to do was to replicate the same thing on the new stat and connect both `Y' wires on the Y terminal of the new stat. That seemed to be ok since the heat works fine. I like the swing setting which allows you to set a desired temperature swing range of when you want the heat\cool to keep running and remain off. This decreases the on/off cycling of your system which should increase its life. The swing settings are from 1 to 9 in .25 degree temperature increments. In other words, if you have the heat temp setting at 70* and the swing setting set to 4, the heat will turn on at 69* then turn off when it reaches 71*. Keep in mind that this thermostat also has a built in delay feature which basically delays the on and off time. The default setting is 5 minutes and can be changed to 2 minutes. So, if you have the heat temp set to 70*, the swing set to 4 (one degree .25 x 4) and the delay set to 2 minutes, then the heat will turn on 2 minutes after the thermostat drop to 69* and turn off 2 minutes after the thermostat reaches 71*. Hope that wasn't confusing. The delay is set by switching the jumper switch on or off on the back of the thermostat. For some reason though, whether I have the delay set to 2 or 5 minutes, the delay is always 2 minutes. My thermostat for heat is set to 70*, the swing setting is set to 4 (one degree) and the delay set to OFF (5 minutes). With these settings the heat should turn off 5 minutes after the thermostat reaches 71*, but it turns off only after 2 minutes. Same thing happens when the heat is supposed to turn on. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? That's really the only negative thing, or at least the one thing I couldn't get to work as I wanted. No big deal, 2 minute delay is fine or I could even increase the swing setting to adjust accordingly. The LCD display is a light blue which is very nice, stays on for 12 seconds when activated by pressing either the up or down button. Programming was very easy and the thermostat is very accurate. Looks nice on the wall as well. Also has a filter change reminder which can be set to `remind' you to change the filter at whatever setting you have it set to. I have mine set to 30 days. The LCD does not display both current and set temperatures, it just displays current temp. Just hit either the up or down arrow to see the set temp. The one feature that this thermostat does not have is that it does not automatically switch from heat mode to cool mode when called for. In other words, you need to manually change the program mode from heat to cool and visa versa. I live in the northeast so it's really not an issue at all.....just leave it on Heat mode during the winter months and switch to Cool mode in the summer. All in all, this is a very nice thermostat, it's accurate, looks good and has all the features I was looking for that works for us.

Honest reviews on Lux TX9100E 7 Day Universal Programmable Thermostat

I went from a non-programmable thermostat to this LUX model. It has 4 time settings per day and is programmable for 7 individual days in both heating and cooling. That's 56 different times and modes that can be set. It's extremely flexible and is super easy to install. Having the unit adjust temperatures for the different zones in my house automatically during the day so that zones are adjusted for our usage has cut my electricity bill almost in half.

Hello,

This is just to let buyer be aware that Lux offers another model, TX9100U which for roughly $10 less but offers adjustable Set Back program and Special Days Program and more (Energy monitor, etc...But only these 2 I think are more significant). For some reason, it's hard to find and I only found it at Lowes, special order for $46. The Model # at Lowes actually listed as LTX9100U. It's easy to install and operate. The only thing I am not sure I like is the battery compartment is not accessible from the front lid. The unit has to be popped out from the base plate to get to the batteries but it might be the same with other Lux models. The window also displays more info on the screen. I thought I let everyone know about this model.

C'mon all you critics who've given this thing 1 star, be fair here. Take one look at this and you have to KNOW it is designed for those who want a clever accent in their kitchens. Collectors of toasters won't be able to resist it!

However, if you ONLY care about the practical aspects of this toaster, be aware that while it does a fine job of preparing toasted bread, it is only a a so-so radio. On the other hand, as an accent to a Space Age, modern or even a retro kitchen, this adds a unique touch.

Bottom line? I give it 5 stars for DESIGN, but only 3 for FUNCTIONALITY.

If you really want a great radio, stay away. The sound quality is lackluster, at best. Also, it can't be too safe to have a radio and a toaster combo, not with all the heating elements. I'd be a bit wary of using a radio/toaster combo every day. Maybe on occasion, though, especially as a conversation piece...

I have to say that this is one of the most dismal products I've ever bought. The toaster barely toasts, even when turned all the way up, and helpfully flips over when you press down the handle. It takes two hands to use. The radio, in addition to being the worst-sounding radio I have ever encountered, has to be reset to your channel each time the radio is turned on, and that has to be done by a blind search button. How convenient is that?

I assumed that coming from Kenwood, the radio would at least be a decent unit. Wrong.

This thing is merely a gag product, and the joke's on the buyer.

Best Deals on Kenwood TT756SL 2-Slice Radio Toaster with FM Radio

The Radio Toaster is a really good toaster...probably the best toaster I've ever had. It is a so-so radio, though...the speakers are necessarily not very large and the sound it emits is rather tinny.

BUT, I just keep in mind that it's a TOASTER first, and a radio secondarily. The radio controls are, ummm, primitive, but perhaps that is for a reason---all radios usually are affected by electrical appliances running close by to them, so maybe overcoming that interference necessitates the non-sophisticated radio controls. I do notice that when I run a blender nearby the radio transmission is silenced.

Let's face it, it's a gimmicky appliance. But I love it. I can have my radio on right by the stove while I'm cooking, and hear it well, and not bother someone watching TV in the next room. I've developed a great affection for the thing!!!

So. A terrific toaster. A so-so radio. A gimmicky gadget that is easy to love! :)

Honest reviews on Kenwood TT756SL 2-Slice Radio Toaster with FM Radio

Very poor quality radio, about the same as a crystal radio of times gone by. As a toaster, it toasts two pieces of bread just like a regular cheap toaster.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Kenwood TT756SL 2-Slice Radio Toaster with FM Radio

I love this item for two of its exceptionally wonderful qualities first and most importantly, it's a great toaster. I can make batch after batch of toast, with each batch coming out as well as the previous one. Because a toaster's job is to well, toast stuff, and this does that job very well, I'd have to give it a five on toastability alone. (You've never heard of toastability? too bad. my review, my thesaurus.)

Second criteria is the amazing attractiveness of the toaster. Every guest who has come to our home has commented on the "vintage" toaster we have. Our kitchen is decorated in a 1940's style, and a few people have asked if the toaster was from the 1940's. Ummm. No. But the toaster is solidly made and nice to look at.

As far as the radio aspect goes... well, I have to tell ya; I didn't buy a toaster so I could dance to it. I bought a toaster to make bread brown and crispy, and I got a toaster that didn't look hideous at the same time. I'm satisfied. I don't know if the radio works, and I don't particularly care. When I want music, I turn to my iPod, when I want bread that is brown and crispy, I go to my toaster. Both look wonderful and do an exceptional job serving their partcular purposes. But if Steve Jobs announced a new iPod, where you stick bread in the dock, well... I might think those black turtlenecks were running a bit tight.

Our primary use for this great roaster is for cooking the Thanksgiving turkey each year, but it also has a multitude of other uses.

Nesco roasters are such a part of my family's history that I thought everyone owned one. When there were family reunions, we'd see many of these, holding everything from hot potato salad to baked beans, to burgers and brats to keep them warm before the meal starts.

Back to the turkey, however. In the 10 years that my wife and I have been hosting Thanksgiving for our families, we've never had a bad turkey come out of the Nesco. When I hear stories about dried-out birds in standard ovens, I can't relate, since I've never had any need to roast a turkey or ham in the oven.

The Nesco roaster keeps the food moist while cooking evenly. There's not much more you can ask from a roaster, and this does it with ease!

I grew up in central Wisconsin, and there were three articles of faith that everyone took for granted---the Green Bay Packers, International Harvestor trucks and tractors, and Nesco roasters.

Well, the Pack have had their ups and downs, and IH is out of business, but Nesco still makes a great cooker (made in China now, unfortunately), that can handle anything, including pies, cookies, chili, booyah, the Thanksgiving turkey and the Christmas ham. Forget the Cuisinart, ditch the microwave oven, lose the high-end Viking gas oven. Yeah, they draw a lot of electricity (1,435 watts), but I truly feel sorry for anyone who has to muddle through life without one.

Clean-up was easy too! The only downside to this oven was that when I opened the box, there was a small nick and scratch inside the cooker part (not the teflon);but this hasn't affected the performance at all. Infact, my parents want one for themselves!

First, I dont like to pay repairman for jobs I can do. There are lots of places/forums which you can ask the experts for the parts and help. Just take proper precautions while working with electrical items. That being said, replacing thermostats, limit switches and coils are very easy to replace for the relative handy person. These parts can easily be tested using a the cheapest basic multi-meter for continuity. My coil and thermostat went on my Maytag Neptune front loader. The packaging and shipping great as usual. I tested the thermostat for continuity prior to installing. While i was in there i ordered the other thermostat, limit switch and heating element(coil) and replaced them all (less than$100 for all of them) The dryer now has all new parts and works like a charm (changing the heating element certainly makes drying times faster!)

Review of Holmes HAOF90-UC Blizzard Oscillating Table Fan

Holmes HAOF90-UC Blizzard Oscillating Table Fan
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
The current trend is to produce noiseless fans; this is a huge drawback for those of us who need white noise, and loud white noise, at that! My little SleepMate white noise machine, while it works fine, simply doesn't produce sound loud enough for actual noise blocking. That's where my search for a new "loud" fan came in. The Holmes HAOF-90UC does the trick. It produces wind sound loud enough to help me sleep through "normal" daytime apartment noises when I need to sleep during the day because of night shift work. There is also no distracting motor or irregular noises, providing it's not oscillating. This fan tucks unobtrusively into a corner, which led me to choose this over the typical noisy big box fans. When I do use it for its intended air circulating purposes, it does an impressive job for its size. I've used this fan regularly for over one year, and it's still working just fine.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I have had 2 of these fans in my son's room for more than a year. He has a stuffy room with no cross ventilation and these fans help quite a bit. I am sure I could make do with just one of them, but having to two on opposite sides of his room makes sleeping more comfortable.

The house has air conditioning but some of the rooms arent as cool as others or are just stuffy. A fan really helps cool off the room and move the AC around the house more efficiently. On days that are not quite warm enough to turn on the AC these fans really make sleeping bearable.

I have them set at opposite sides of the room but I keep meaning to wall mount them. An excellent feature! There is some fan noise but truthfully, it drowns out noise coming from outside his room and I think the *white-noise* quality of it helps him sleep. The loudness of the noise is based on the fan setting.

For the price...this is a great fan. And the size is perffect for small rooms. Add that you can wall mount it and you have an excellent product.

I can attest to what many of the other reviewers are saying: at its lowest setting, this fan is very loud! I suppose you can think of it as white noise, but it's almost loud enough to go beyond that. If you turn the fan up to medium or high, it gets even louder, but really, I don't see any reason to go above the already-powerful low setting in an office or home office setting.

One or two other reviewers have stated that the fan is quiet. Perhaps there is a quality control issue and it depends on the individual fan you end up with.

On the plus side, the fan really does get the air moving. It has a three-year warranty, which is better than a lot of the cheaper or "no-name" fans. I'm keeping this fan. I wonder if it will last 18 years, like the one it's replacing. Remember to check back in 2025 and I will let you know!

This little fan runs great and really moves a lot of air with very little noise. I have had it in my office for a couple of years and often enough it has been left on over a weekend or holiday without any apparent harm. For the price, I don't think you can do any better.

Ok for the price. Nice small footprint and design; however, it's a little noisy on top speed. Basic back/forth motion; and does a good job of moving air. The base is wieghted so it remains stable. I would NOT use it at night while sleeping because of the noise; but it will circulate air in a warm room.

Have used this basically to make soup. Heats quickly.

Cooks evenly without burning. Very satisfied. Also,

note that the fact that this unit is only a 900 watt

unit is an advantage vs. competitive units of 1200-1500

watts because it is more amenable to being plugged into

a generator when used as a backup cooking source during

power outages. So well-done, Rival. You made a good

product: Great for places where you can't have a stove,

and great for those times when the stove won't work.

I don't know where this was made, probably China. It worked reasonably well for about 3 months. It never really stays hot, continually shuts off before it can actually get going. Takes forever to boil a small saucepan of water. After about 3 months the dial just popped out, very cheaply made, I tried to repair it but it's just too shoddy. It no longer works at all so I had to buy another to replace it. You get what you pay for. I have gone through about 10 cheap hotplates in 5 years. I thought this one would be better because it cost a little more but actually it's worse than the ones I bought for $12. I am really sick of cheap malfunctioning crap and this is in that category.

bought this to use in my rv, with a percolator for morning coffee. Worked fine for the 1st 2 months, but the temp knob and the shaft attached to the body is plastic, and basically melted after some fiddling, finally got it to high and it works on high, but there's no way to adjust the temp. cant turn it off cause the plastic doesn't connect inside, so I just unplug it, and plug it in to use. the base gets hot, yes

Like it in general. But it takes about 5 min. to get the pan to heat to the high temperature but after that it works fine. So far so good.

I had this burner for little over a month and it worked fine up to now. Then the knob broke off completely. Not a good quality product.

Found that I could enjoy my guests. Usually am exhausted because I'll cook on the grill all day to ensure that folks have warm food. This device has a small footprint, so it was perfect for a smaller kitchen. The ability to control the temperature and 5 serving compartments proved very convenient. Would definitely recommend.
