My house has a three zone hot water heating system that uses three Taco zone valves. The heat in one zone was becoming increasingly slow to come on. A properly functioning Taco valve should open in less than two minutes.

The problem was in the "power head" that opens the water valve when the thermostat calls for heat. Fortunately, replacing this part is easy. All you have to do is turn off the power to the system and label and remove the three wires that connect to the power head. The old head twists off and the new one twists on without having to drain the water from the system. Then, reconnect the wires, turn the power back on, and you're good to go. The heat in the zone that was slow to respond now comes on quickly, and the rooms heat much faster.

This product works as expected and easy to install. If you can open and close a ketchup bottle and work a screw driver, you can make this repair.

I appreciate it every cold day.

A Must Have Backup Replacement for your heating system for the winter don't get caught without spares! .... As simple to replace as a light bulb -an old one WILL burn out (like a light bulb) after years of service. Quality is great heavy duty (my old one lasted ~ 7 years before burn-out).

The internal width of the cover is 5 and 3/8 inches. This is about an inch narrower than most modern thermostats. At the same time, the depth is 2 and 3/4 inch. This is probably an inch deeper than required or desired. The internal height is a little more than 4 and 1/2 inches. It does have ventilation slots all the way around, so it should work well for those thermostats it fits.

Bought this to keep my stats from being tampered with by roommates. Bit big for home use, but still was fine and easy to mount. The vents have nothing to prevent someone from changing the stat with a coat hanger or the like. Buddy used them in a partially unattended gym and did him no good because nobody was around to keep people honest and they could get through the vents to tamper. Mine are in my own house and I know only a few people could have tampered with the stats if they are changed, so they work for me but not for my buddy.

This thermostat guard is a solid buy for the money. It installed easily and fit perfectly over a budget thermostat. Just make sure you know the dimensions of your 'stat' before you buy. About the only thing I didn't like is that it includes only 1 key, so make sure you don't lose it! All in all a nice cover to keep people from changing the thermostat settings.

The dimensions given were for the outside and don't help in determining if it will fit over my thermostat. The product itself would have been fine if it fit correctly. Maybe there should be a size in between the two given so you wouldn't have a monster size box to cover the thermostat.

I've had this for about 3 weeks now and it's installed in the utility room next to my home office. I already have filtered water distributed throughout my house, so it was a piece of cake to add another tee and take a line into the water cooler. I had to go to the hardware store to get the parts I needed for that, but once I had them it took me all of about 10 minutes to hook this up. It does make a little bit of a hum when it's on, but it is extremely quiet (at least relative to the room I have it in).

With a reverse osmosis filter on this the water tastes fantastic; it takes about 30 minutes for it to cool the water down, a little less to heat up the hot water side (which by the way has to be turned on before it works -I didn't see the switch at first, so it didn't work until I flipped it).

I wish I'd purchased this sooner; it's fantastic to have a good source of cool (very cold, but not quite cold enough to be uncomfortable to drink) water in my office; I'm drinking 2 or 3 times as much as I had been.

Also, I should mention that the unit came in two boxes, which surprised me; the first had the cooler itself but it was configured to accept a giant water bottle, and the second had a replacement top for it that accepts water from a hose. That was a little confusing at first, but it only took me a few minutes to get it changed, and it's nice to know that I could use it with water bottles if I needed to.

The machine is kind of easy to setup, though it took me a while to figure out. The instructions are kind of worthless. On my first attempt I hooked up the water source to the cleaning drain, which resulted in the machine overfilling and spilling water everywhere. There is a plastic tube that you're supposed to hook the water up to.

Only other complaint is that it's a bit louder than I'd expect. The water is a good temperature though, so I'm happy with it.

We finally got away from the expense of bottled water. The "point

of use" (bottle-less) coolers cost more than their bottle-carrying

counterparts. But they soon pay for themselves. I installed a dual

filter on the supply. If you just want room temp. and cold, you can

turn off the heating circuit. This is the second installation of these

that I've done.

Honest reviews on Clover D7A Hot and Cold Point of Use Water Dispenser With Hygienic

I just placed an order for the Clover D7A Hot and Cold Point of Use Water Dispenser in Black.

I called to ask questions before I ordered and the lady I spoke to in Sales was very helpful.

I was confused about the difference between two models and she helped clarify that question.

I also asked about whether or not you need a professional to come install it as mentioned by one of the reviews on their website but found out if we already have the hook ups, then it shouldn't be a problem. When I asked about the instructions being hard to read due to the amount of times it has been copied, she said that if there were any issues with the instructions that they could get customers connected to the vendor.

I've been looking for something like this dispenser to replace the broken one in our breakroom. I was having trouble finding one like it (and even went to Ktown in LA to look for it) and am glad Air-N-Water carry it.

So 5 stars for the customer service thus far and I'll update my review shortly when we get the product.

We are home gardeners and have tried many ways to provide bottom-heat for vegetable seed germination -atop my always-on docked laptop was the most effective but the space was tiny. We bought a 20" x 20" heat mat and now have the right tool for the job. We set it up on a card table and found that it was not providing sufficient heat to the soil in the trays above. After an overnight on the mat, the soil surface was less than 10 degrees above ambient temperature. The room where the seeds are was 60 degrees overnight, and the soil surface in the trays was 68 degrees -certainly not good enough for eggplant germination. I used an infrared thermometer (Raytek Minitemp MT6 here on Amazon) to check all temps. The exposed mat surface (no tray on top) was 82 degrees. I felt the surface on the underside of the card able and it was definitely warm, indicating heat loss downward. I wanted all of the heat to go up into the soil, so I cut a piece of rigid-foam insulation just slightly larger than the heat mat (22" x 22") and put it under the mat. Within 15 minutes the exposed surface of the mat was at 97 degrees and when I moved a tray to measure the temp of the mat beneath a tray, it was at 115 degrees. 2 hours later, the soil surface temperature was at 85 degrees. I am now confident the soil will get enough heat for proper germination, and I will begin using the heat mat thermostat to regulate soil temps based on the particular seeds we're starting (search the Web for "vegetable seed germination temperatures" to find one of the many reference charts available). We can also regulate temperature by covering or uncovering the trays to change the rate of evaporative cooling. We are well aware that covered soil is more prone to damping off/seedling death, which we now control with a spray of strong-brewed chamomile tea.

I bought this heat mat to get my seeds started inside. Since my apartment is cold and seeds like heat I thought i'd give it a try. Three days after I planted my seeds I had a ton of sprouts. Nearly every seed germinated. If you need some extra warmth to get your seeds going definitly get one of these heat mats.

It didn't get too hot and I was able to keep it right on my countertop. My only problem was I should have had a light to put over my seedlings once they sprouted. It's very easy to use as you just plug it in and put your tray on top. The instructions are even written right on the mat itself.

Best Deals on Hydrofarm Seedling Heat Mat

This mat does the job! If you have a couple of seed flats to warm, this mat will suffice. On the other hand, if you, like me, really enjoy starting plants from seeds, you may want a larger size mat (or more than one of this size). In any case, this one does exactly what it is supposed to do: it gently (and reliably) warms seed flats until the seeds sprout.

Honest reviews on Hydrofarm Seedling Heat Mat

I have a tabletop greenhouse in my (unheated) garage, and I use the large version of this mat along with the thermostat controller to keep the seedlings warm. (I also add a 40w lightbulb in the winter to keep the air warm). My garage never really gets below freezing, but it can be in the 40's quite often.

The mat does a great job of keeping the bottom of the flats warm. In the spring, it gets the seedlings off to a quick start, and lets them grow without any setbacks from cool weather.

I also use it during the fall and winter to keep a constant supply of fresh garden herbs. Again, it does this quite well, although the 40w bulb helps keep the air warm.

It arrives rolled up, but within a day or so it lays perfectly flat. It seems reasonably well made, and my first one has lasted a year with no sign of problems. I am not sure how well it would do if left on 24/7, but since I use a thermostat, it is only on maybe 40% of the time during the cooler months.

Its a matter of choice, but I could do without the instructions printed in bright green on the top of the mat.

In summary, I love having seedling mats to jumpstart my spring growing, and the fresh herbs all year are fantastic. While I didn't really shop around too much for heat mats, these seem to work quite well. I suspect I could do better on price with another brand, but I didn't bother to when I bought the first one...and I will always go with a proven performer when I buy a second one.

The first time I have tried using a heat mat. I placed the mat on a sheet of 3/4" styrofoam insulation and set my covered seed trays on top. I planted presoaked seeds of tomato and pepper. In two days I had sprouts. This was in a cool (50 degree)greenhouse. The temp inside the seed trays was 80-85 degrees.

The installation took about 30 minutes. I did the installation myself and should be within the ability of of DIY types who have experience with electric circuts, It's not rocket science but if you need a profession installer, it is a very short bit of work so it could easily be added onto some other routine service call.

The wireless transmission on this unit works flawlessly in old construction metal lathe walls at a distance of 60 feet. In fact, I can take the remote unit nearly 800 feet from the house and it still stays in contact.

Thermostat seems to be predictive and after a few day, will deliver the programmed temperatures within a few minutes of the programmed time.

Much simpler solution then popping holes in walls to run internal lines, and the multi point control is very useful.

I have a two story home with a programmable thermostat on the second floor. It was a pain to walk up and down the stairs just to adjust temperature. I ordered this product and was delivered within 3-4 days. Installation was a breeze. I am no electrician and was able to have this thermostat installed in less than an hour.

This kit is awesome; I wanted to move my thermostat (really old style, the quicksilver type) from the dining room to the living room......

... and with this kit, no wiring through walls needed. At all.

And the unit is a decent programmable thermostat; it's set to warm up in the morning, and back again when we get home from work... it is a 5+1+1 system, where all weekdays have the same program...

Honest reviews on Honeywell YTH6320R1015 - Wireless Thermostat System

After much research as to how best to deal with vast temperature variations in our one zone, multi-story condo, I found this thermostat. As stated, the thermostat includes a wireless base (which can be attached to a wall or not) and remote. The base is programmable and senses the temperature wherever the base is. The remote can be moved anywhere in the house to sense temperature in other locations (e.g. bedrooms, offices) and then can be easily set to over-ride the base and control the temperature at that remote location. This works great at night if your bedroom is far away from the base.

Because I found it hard to get product information, I called Honeywell, which has fantastic customer service. If you opt to have the thermostat installed for you, I would highly recommend using contractors recommended by Honeywell as the first several contractors I tried were suspicious of these "new-fangled" thermostats and couldn't explain how they worked.

What a great quality of life improvement! I'm already sleeping better at night!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Honeywell YTH6320R1015 - Wireless Thermostat System

Bought it and got it hooked up it hooks up just like any other thermostat, but the base unit goes by the furnace, not in the living space.

We put the remote in our new baby's room, and it keeps the room a perfect even temperature at night. She started sleeping much better the very night I got it working. So new parents highly recommended.

Honestly, the "outdoor" unit and the normal thermostat are still sitting on the coffee table in our living room since I can't decide where to put either one.

Only negative I think it's cycling the air on and off more often than the old thermostat did.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 2/24/13: The portable unit's touch screen stopped responding to touch in January. The seller I bought it from was non-responsive to my inquiries, and Honeywell informed me that the date code meant that it was made in the 42nd week of 2008!

(The date code is really simple just YYWW year/week of year. Or maybe the other way around, WWYY. I don't remember now.)

Fortunately they give a five-year warranty on this line and after mailing the broken one to Honeywell, a new one showed up on my front porch about a month later.

So if you're buying from anyone except Amazon themselves, you may want to inquire about date code, because the warranty may give you difficulties if you have problems. I still like the actual item, though. Just not the fact that I bought 4-year-old stock.

My Soleus HM1-10-32 is used to supplement my oil heat since prices have gone up. I have no problem heating a 18' x 12' living room. I wanted the non-remote version because I've got too many remotes and dont need another one. To my surprise this regular model is now coming with ECO (economy mode).

The heating element consists of two 500W vertical heat panels:

1) LOW: In this mode only one heat panel turns on (the right panel).

2) High: In this mode both (right and left) heat panels turn on.

3)ECO: In this mode both 500W heat panels turn on until the room reaches a certain temp then the right heat panel turns off and the left one remains on until the thermostat takes over and cycles one 500W panel.

Noise: The 500W heat panels will warp at little as they warm-up. This warping makes a low clunk sound. Not loud enough to disturb you but noticable. Also the thermostat makes a click as it cycles.

Power: 1000W seems to be enough for me and doesnt cause heating of the line cord. At this power level the unit can share another device on the same line if need be. The 500W setting works well for most of my conditions. For instance I get home from work and the burner has kept the house at 63 degrees F. I turn-on the heater at 1000W until the living room wall thermostat reads 69 F then I turn the heater to low and let it cycle.

Heat: Since it has a back or rear to the element I tried it up against a wall. This heated the wall up real well. After moving it out in the open it seemed much more effective. The heater emits a LOT of heat out of the top and heats only about out to three feet from the front. I also heats out to 1.5 feet to the rear. Other than that its mostly Infra-red waves to the front and rear and ambient heat to the top.

Very handy carry handle on one side and attractive thin profile make this a real versatile low profile heater. With the Micathermic elements the heating elements are not exposed to the air so it is safe.

I really think this is the future in portable heating because it is the quietest heater I have used. Also with heat out of the top, infra red to the front and heat to the rear its very effective.

Edit: 2/6/07

Well we had our first single digit night here in NY and it kept the bedroom at 68F by using 1000W and letting it cycle all night. Thats 68F with my door open and attic air leaking thru the attic stairs (in otherwords worst case) at 8 deg outside temp. Normally on an 8 deg night my bedroom is 59F.

I also knocked it completely over while walking around in the dark. The Power was off and it lived no problem. No damage works fine.

Another point is that no matter how close it is to objects in the bedroom they do not heat to a dangerous temp. They will get warm but not hot.

When sitting on the coach with it 3 feet away and facing you (maximum comfy) you only feel a mild radiant heat not a blast in the face. Try that with most radiant heaters and you'll get a tan.

Lovin' it.

Does a good job heating a 10" x 12' bedroom. It's totally silent, so it's perfect for the bedroom. It does heat up almost instantly, but at only 1000 watts, does not heat up the room very quickly. Best to turn it on an hour before you turn in, to give it time to heat up the room. I'm using it in a house that I set to 58 degrees overnight, with single digit temperatures outside. The bedroom stays in the upper 60's for the night while this is on. Update: It stopped working after a couple of months. Got a new one that's been working fine all winter. The one year warranty was good, but the return experience was poor. Had to call many times over many days to get an actual person. The return involved cutting the end of the power cord and mailing at my expense back to them (good to not have to pay to send the entire unit back). Plus, had to send them money to cover shipment of the replacement unit (I think it was $16). All in all, it cost me over 40% of the original cost to get warranty replacement. It seems that this is becoming a common practice these days, but not easy to find out until you call for repair. So consider this a heads up so you can factor this in to your purchasing decision.

I dont have central heat and air for years now. I been looking for sometime a good strong heater that works on a 220V shocket.

I finally saw this one and bought it.

Same size as your typical plug in Electric heaters. The chord to plug into the socket tho is the same as my 24,000 BTU a/c....it's a Big thick 10 gauge chord with a 30 am terminal.

Anyhow, of you have a 30 amp socket, your good to go.

This unit is is waaaaaaaaaaaay Hotter than ANY standard plug in heater. Those at BEST will give you 5,100 BTU, this unit gives you 16,000 BTU's. About as much as a kerosene heater.

Has your typical controls for a heater, on off, and a thermostat by numbers (1 to 6). I highly recommend this Heater for anyone ho has no central heat or you need heat in your garage or work shed, this is perfect.

Nice little heater. Works well keeping a vacant space warm through the winter. Note that this is a 208/230 volt unit so plan to have the proper circuit available. A little smaller than expected but it's still fine.

Best Deals on Dimplex #DCH4831L 4800-Watt Portable Construction Heater

I bought this for my 20'x20' semi-insulated attached garage in Wisconsin. It cranks out some heat, but not enough to realistically heat that garage in the winter unless it runs ALL the time. Nicely built unit, VERY simple, basically a coil, fan, and thermostat. There is nothing else inside this thing. When I turned this unit on, and placed it next to my existing 120V 1500W fan heater ($10 type model), I had to check several times because I didn't even think the 1500w heater was turned on! This unit cranks out some heat for it's size. It's basically the size of two shoeboxes taped together, or maybe a pice of paper, it's very small. It helps in the garage, but I found that it is better used in my basement where it can make a bid difference in just a few minutes of use.

Remember you need a 30 amp 240 volt outlet for this. I used my dryer outlet, since I now have a gas dryer. I made up an extension cord that plugs into the existing dryer outlet, and has the 30 amp NEMA outlet on the other end. I got all the stuff at Home Depot, and the cord will be the most expensive part (you need 12 guage, 3 conductors total, no neutral needed).

All in allnot big enough for the garage, but works nice in the workshop. 4800 watts is a lot of power though so I expect a big electric bill :)

We purchased this heater as a replacement for a gas wall heater that was disconnected by the power company many years ago, deemed unsafe to operate. The Cadet 4000W was professionally installed, requiring both a carpenter for framing and sheetrock, and an electrician. The heater required a separate 240V feed, which was branched off of the dryer circuit. The Heater was easy to install and works very well. We have approx. 850sqft home in Bay Area, CA. This heater is capable of heating the entire space, but we usually keep a couple of rooms closed off. We had been using 1250W space heaters, the Cadet is a huge improvement, no more blown circuits. It heats the space quickly and is fairly quiet. We did our own heat-loss calcs and decided on the 4000W unit. We also liked that it has a two pole thermostat which means it can be switched entirely off. The one weakness is in the thermostat that is mounted in the cabinet, it does not seem to be very sensitive, but is adequate. For more $$$ it would have been possible to purchase and install a remote wall mounted digital thermostat. We decided on Cadet since they have recently made significant quality and safety improvements. The price may see a little high, but compared to other forms of built-in heat it is a good value.

Seven-day programmable thermostats are more flexible today but I can't say that one is better than the other one, because I didn't buy them all and check them all out. However, I do know what has worked for me and my family for years and why I am staying with Hunter. After removing thermostats and replacing them with Hunters in the past; there was a good reason ... quality, ease of operation, good support and durability. Consumer Reports (CR) rates (a scoring based on several measurable factors) seven-day programmable thermostats as best to least as follows: LUX, ACE, White Rogers, Hunter, CTC, Robert Shaw, Trane, Honeywell and ICM Controls. I am not a dye-in the wool believer that the best is the best or the least is the least in their ratings but I do read what they have to say and why they say it. This seven-day programmable Hunter is a jewel: ease of installation and setup, back-lit screen (after touching it), menu-driven set of choices for changes, and flexibility to make the unit do what you want it to do. Its good looking, good sized screen and easy to read. You won't believe how easy it is to set up or modify. Oh, yeah, Hunter also lets you disengage the unit from the wall mounting and go sit down somewhere and program it on your lap or at a table so you don't have to stand at the wall and make your entries. It also has a useful setting which turns on the ac/heater fan for several minutes to move air through the house during periods of ac/heater inactivity. The set-up and menu-driven flexibility sells itself ... the results should keep one satisfied for a long time. Read the manual for settings and changes (menu) before you set it up ... remember its flexible. I really like this unit ... check it out.

I am really happy with my new thermostat. It was a painless instal. The touch screen works quite well. The menu system is easy to navigate. The program is very easy to setup. It heats my house much more accurately than my old one. Also, it looks good too. I highly recommend this product.

This thermostat is great! I am actually about to buy another one! Well worth the money! Easy to program, see and change settings!

Honest reviews on Hunter 44905 Universal 7-Day Programmable Thermostat

Wanted a thermostat that had a "recirculate" feature. Honeywell sells them but as you have probably already read they WILL NOT honor the warranty unless installed & serviced by a contractor.

Hunter sells this 44905 that seemed to fit the bill. Quit after 2 days. Re-installed the Hunter 44360 that had worked for 8 years not very fun waking to a house at 52 degrees & having to get the multimeter out for a diagnostic exercise.

As an engineering student, I was told KISS keep it simple stupid. This also applies to thermostats. After investigating these newer touch-screen models I was VERY apprehensive in buying one, way too many complaints about quality control issues. I work in manufacturing, I'm well aware that "line-speed" rate of units/minute greatly effects quality. I'd suspect their operational engineer has the line tweaked a little to high in order to impress his/her superior.

PROS: easy to install, can be programmed unplugged from wall, recirculates air for 15mins if the unit senses the system has not been active for 60mins

CONS: Lasted 2 days, only has 3 programmable zones per day (my older model 44360 has 4 zones per day)

Keep the receipt & good luck.

Winter weather has finally hit mid-state Illinois! I have been prepared and had the furnace all ready to go. My family returned home on Thanksgiving to a cold house. My old mechanical round style thermostat had finally failed (it had been acting up in the recent days).

I was a little nervous having to select a new thermostat and even more nervous about installing it. I'm not a real hands-on person with regard to home repair. But we were in a real need for something.

I picked this unit up very late on Thanksgiving night and proceeded to take it home (don't forget the 2 AA batteries). This unit was replacing an old round mechanical style thermostat in my home. The box says it would be a workable replacement solution and it was.

Installation was very simple (thank goodness I only have a 2-wire heating only system). I removed the old thermostat from the wall and removed the two wires (after powering off my system) from the old thermostat base. I followed the instructions that came with the Hunter unit (there are several easy to read wiring diagrams for the different heating/cooling systems) and attached the wires to the new base of the Hunter unit (after attaching it to the wall). The terminals are easy to read and hooking up the new one was snap. I attached the main unit to the wall base and installed the batteries. I followed the instructions to set the desired temperature and haven't had a need to touch it since. I had this unit fully installed in about 15 minutes (remember I'm slow since I'm new to this). Even for me this was easy to install properly. This unit will replace many thermostat styles and will control most heating/cooling systems (a full list is available on the package). Even better the factory default settings were the right ones to control my 2-wire gas hot water baseboard furnace.

The Hunter functions very well. Last night the outside temperatures dipped into the mid twenties while my family and I remained comfortable and warm inside. I have other thermometers (digital) in the house and the Hunter keeps the room temperature within 1 degree Fahrenheit from the set level regardless of how cold or windy it is outside. Something my old mechanical thermostat could never do.

The features of this unit are nice. The LCD screen is easy to read. The buttons are large and easy to use. The unit has a slim profile and looks nice on the wall (shouldn't be too noticeable in any room). The mode selection buttons and other controls are neatly hidden behind an easy to open swing out door on one side of the LCD display while the batteries are behind a similar door on the other side (no need to remove thermostat to replace batteries)! Operating instructions are neatly printed on the inside of the door housing the controls for easy access eliminating the need to search for the instruction manual later. I also appreciate the fact that the thermostat is electronically controlled and the unit doesn't have to be perfectly level to function correctly. This unit has functioned without problems and has been worry free for me and has kept my family warm and comfortable.

*** UPDATE 11-11-08 ***

We've recently moved to a new house and the Hunter served us well all year at the old place. It functions well and keeps the house comfortable. The batteries last a long, long time (a year plus).

I've just installed the identical thermostat in our new home to replace another round mechanical thermostat. This new home has a heat/cool forced air system where the old house was baseboard water heat. Again the thermostat installed very easily with the added wire diagrams. Installation is quite simple and the thermostat is easy to set up (just a matter of flipping a switch and adjusting the set point (one button).

I highly recommend this thermostat for an economical efficient means to ensure comfort for your home and family. The Hunter provided a noticeable energy savings on my old home, and I'm sure it will on this one too. Again, highly recommended!

Installed the new Hunter thermostat in just a few minutes with the help of the on line wiring guide. The hook was from a 6 wire system and 3 of the wires were not color coded or labeled with the same reference type. The web site provided the wiring diagram and the reason for the extra wires that were no longer to be used. There was concern that the 1 degree on/off would run the furnace too often and the instructions were clear on how to reset the function to 3 degrees. Sat last night with a comfortable warm 5th wheel and enjoyed the evening. Have let several of the other units that were having the same problem know the results. The old thermostat when set at 70 degrees would come on at 64 and shut off at 75 degrees.

Nice simple non-programmable unit.

Pro : Large digital readout

Accurate

No mercury

Cheap

Works well if you have a "split" (two transformers) central air & boiler/furnace setup Hook the white boiler/furnace control wire to the W terminal, the red boiler/furnace transformer wire to the RH(eat) terminal (make sure you have removed the RH to RC jumper for use on a two transformer setup), the green A/C fan control wire to the G terminal, the yellow A/C compressor control wire to Y terminal and the red A/C transformer wire to the RC(ool) terminal.

Con : No display backlight

Need this to apply to my RV. I am changed the manual thermostat to digital. Digital thermostat is much more accurate than a manual and temperature stays much closer the temperature that was set.

Excellent and reliable product at a reasonable price. I installed this in our Scamp 16 ft fiberglass trailer in less than 15 minutes. It works much better than the OEM mechanical thermostat. It would be nice to have batteries included with the product when shipped, but this way I know that the batteries are fresh.

Nice thermostat for wet environment but comes with 1/2" hole already drilled in the top and doesn't include a grommet or plug for that. Would be ok if thermostat wire was in conduit but most greenhouses I work in have thermostat wire just stapled or tied to building or frame. I would prefer the hole at the bottom or none at all. I can drill my own hole. End result, you have to supply your own water proof grommet or plug.

I purchased three of these to be used for heat lamps to keep pipes from freezing. Mine have worked well for over a year. I have one in my well pump house, one in swimming pool pump house and one at the hunting cabin. You have to wire it yourself and you can wire it normally open or normally closed to cut something on or off depending on the application. I cut the heat lamp cord and wired each of these in the cut. So now there is no having to remember to turn the heat lamps on or having them run all the time even when it is warm. I set mine to come on at 35 degrees and they are accurate. They also could be used to cut on a fan when something gets hot like a dog house.

Note: They make one that is prewired and ready to go for those of you with no electrical skills. It plugs in the wall and you plug your device into the back of that plug.

Our primary use for this great roaster is for cooking the Thanksgiving turkey each year, but it also has a multitude of other uses.

Nesco roasters are such a part of my family's history that I thought everyone owned one. When there were family reunions, we'd see many of these, holding everything from hot potato salad to baked beans, to burgers and brats to keep them warm before the meal starts.

Back to the turkey, however. In the 10 years that my wife and I have been hosting Thanksgiving for our families, we've never had a bad turkey come out of the Nesco. When I hear stories about dried-out birds in standard ovens, I can't relate, since I've never had any need to roast a turkey or ham in the oven.

The Nesco roaster keeps the food moist while cooking evenly. There's not much more you can ask from a roaster, and this does it with ease!

I grew up in central Wisconsin, and there were three articles of faith that everyone took for granted---the Green Bay Packers, International Harvestor trucks and tractors, and Nesco roasters.

Well, the Pack have had their ups and downs, and IH is out of business, but Nesco still makes a great cooker (made in China now, unfortunately), that can handle anything, including pies, cookies, chili, booyah, the Thanksgiving turkey and the Christmas ham. Forget the Cuisinart, ditch the microwave oven, lose the high-end Viking gas oven. Yeah, they draw a lot of electricity (1,435 watts), but I truly feel sorry for anyone who has to muddle through life without one.

I bought this oven, thinking it was more like a slow-cooker; but it's definitely not slow! We cooked a roast w/carrots, onions and potatoes for a family dinner the other night and WOW! Clean-up was easy too! The only downside to this oven was that when I opened the box, there was a small nick and scratch inside the cooker part (not the teflon);but this hasn't affected the performance at all. Infact, my parents want one for themselves!

Our oven broke, so I bought this for a temporary help until my family could afford a new stove. I love it!! I tend to use it to make chicken. I also take it on the road to help family for smaller dishes during the holidays when the oven is filled.

The only thing I haven't mastered with it is baking. Still, got more than what I payed for!!
