My house has a three zone hot water heating system that uses three Taco zone valves. The heat in one zone was becoming increasingly slow to come on. A properly functioning Taco valve should open in less than two minutes.

The problem was in the "power head" that opens the water valve when the thermostat calls for heat. Fortunately, replacing this part is easy. All you have to do is turn off the power to the system and label and remove the three wires that connect to the power head. The old head twists off and the new one twists on without having to drain the water from the system. Then, reconnect the wires, turn the power back on, and you're good to go. The heat in the zone that was slow to respond now comes on quickly, and the rooms heat much faster.

This product works as expected and easy to install. If you can open and close a ketchup bottle and work a screw driver, you can make this repair.

I appreciate it every cold day.

A Must Have Backup Replacement for your heating system for the winter don't get caught without spares! .... As simple to replace as a light bulb -an old one WILL burn out (like a light bulb) after years of service. Quality is great heavy duty (my old one lasted ~ 7 years before burn-out).

Honest reviews on Taco 555-050RP Zone Valve Power Head Replacement Part

Very easy to install, no soldering required. Saved me at least $200 for a service call.

I have a 3 zone gas hot water baseboard system in which the 3rd zone was not working, fortunately for me I was able to diagnose the problem and order the Taco 555 and paid far less on Amazon than anywhere else and also avoided a very expensive service call.

I have owned this fireplace for about a month and it has been fabulous. The Symphony flame effect is the best I've ever seen and I've owned 3 others, though not in this price range. The Timothy came disassembled in a large box. It was packed well and there was no shipping damage. However, I found several of the assembly screws rolling around inside the shipping crate. Thankfully, I was able to find all of them. The high quality of the wood and finish was evident upon opening the box. I quickly unpacked it and began assembly. The instructions were fairly basic and probably aren't required to assemble the fireplace as there are only about 10 parts to the fireplace. The firebox simply slides into place and is not really attached to the wood mantel. I assume this eases filter replacement. This is an excellent fireplace. The only noteworthy complaints are: (1.) The simulated firestarting mode (where the fireplae can slowly build and extinguish) does not work (not really a problem for me as I don't mind it turning instantly on or off). However, as this is an advertised feature and described within the operating manual, it is worthy to note. (2.) The sliding firebox will likely end up scratching the wood on the bottom of the fireplace over time so I consider that a design flaw. (3.) there was a small but noticeable gap between two pieces of the mantel. It isn't large but large enough that light could be easily seen streaming through. I fixed that with a 2 foot long piece of electrical tape applied to the inside/rear of the mantel.

I bought this heater based on the features and a good CR review as there were a limited # of reviews on Amazon. One thing I liked about this heater is it puts out heat at approx. 24" off of the floor. I use it in my home office and my two previous Holmes ceramic heaters were very low and would direct the heat into my computer air intake which wasn't very good for me or my computer. Although I really didn't think I needed a remote to change the heat settings, I find it very useful to control the oscillation or temp setting. You can change all settings manually on the front panel if you loose your remote. It seems to throw out much more heat than any of my previous 1500W heaters and easily heats my 16 x 16 ft room in short order. The LED display is well lit and the construction is fairly impressive and sturdy. The fan seems to have much more CFM than your average space heater, but without any real dicernable noise especially when on the phone etc. About the only thing I can complain about is that in the Automatic temperature control mode the unit will only run in the high 1500W mode. If you use the Auto thermostatically controlled feature and it's relatively close to you, it will get a little too warm which is easily resolved by turning the temperature down or putting it in the manual mode on low. I think for this heater to keep you warm, it doesn't really need to be within 5ft as you can place it anywhere in most rooms in the auto mode to keep the whole room temperature constant. For the cost, I don't see how anyone could complain about this heater, but I'm sure someone will! I just ordered a second one for my family room which is much larger, but I feel it will handle it with ease. I would have ordered two as I am giving one to my Mother for Christmas, but they restocked and sold out all but one in 24 hours! I'm sure that a lot more people will say good things about this heater. BTW I checked the kW per hour usage with a meter, on the high setting and it uses around 1.36 kWh or around 15 cents/hr at average electric rates, but it is very unlikely that you would need to run this heater constantly on high unless you were heating a very large room. I would assume that it would be about half that on the low setting (750W).

Great product! Immediately turns out a lot of heat but the heater itself stays cool to the touch. Love the setting to have the heater automatically monitor the room temp and switch on and off in order to maintain the desired temperature. The only thing I do not like about the heater is that after being turned off, when you turn it back on it goes straight to the heater setting instead of "remembering" that we had been using the automatic temperature monitoring setting.

I put this heater in use at the beginning of December, 2012 and kept track of the power usage with a Kill-A-Watt meter for that month. I ran it for about 8 hours every night set at 65 degrees to keep the master bedroom warm while the whole-house thermostat was set at 60 degrees. For the month of December the heater used 112.39 kwh which at my electrical rate in Michigan cost $7.83 or 25.2 cents per day. I consider this to be very good. The house is well insulated with outside storm windows on the bedroom. The bedroom is 14x17 ft with an 8 ft ceiling that slopes up to 14 ft.

The only downside that kept it from getting five stars is that it is a bit noisy.

Honest reviews on Lasko 6462 Full-Circle Warmth Ceramic Ceramic Electric Space Heater

This is a sturdy and very responsive heater. The instructions are clear and it puts a lot of heat out. It is light enough to move around easily but solid and not at all wobbly. I would recommend it to anyone needing a boost in a too cold room.

Heater works well. The remote is very handy when your sitting down and need to tweak the temp.Well made product. The only reason I didn't give it 5 star is it should have some kind of handle to move it around, since its supposed to be portable.

This is an excellent appliance; I'm on my second one. However, it's no substitute for a true Crock Pot.

As with a whole string of multicookers, this cooker is basically a container-removable in this case-on a heat source with a thermostat. Unlike most of the thermostats, this West Bend simply has numbers approximating some of the settings on Crock Pots. A Crock Pot has heating elements surrounding the crockery insert to provide a more even heat.

There are advantages to both designs. One of the great advantages to this type of cooker is that one can cook much faster in this. The hot plate will heat up the ingredients hours faster. The wattage is ten times higher, so of course it will boil faster.

What's the disadvantage? That same thermostat. Rather than providing a steady heat, the thermostat in these cookers cycles on and off and without the crockery insert to 'even out' the heat, the food will alternately boil and cycle off. Not such a bad thing necessarily, but it can and will cause some foods to stick to the nonstick interior. Even if they have a crockery pot to go on the hot plate, these cookers will still have a hot zone on the bottom that isn't present in a true Crock Pot.

Another advantage is that, because these pots have much higher power, one can take the lid off and stir to minimize sticking, and the heat source will quickly restore the preset temperature. In a Crock Pot, removing the lid will add at least 30 minutes to the cooking time.

Why am I on my second pot like this? Just wore the finish off the bottom on my first one-though it took many years to do that, even only using plastic utensils. After a year or two the outline of the heat source became visible on the bottom, though the nonstick finish was still there. It just started flaking off and so I got rid of it. For those who are nervous about chemical nonstick finishes this isn't the setup for you.

For those who are used to cooking in a true Crock Pot, there will also be some adjustment required to recipes. This type of cooker loses moisture like an average pot on the stove, so most slow cooker recipes will lose more steam/water in this type of pot.

West Bend made 'bean pot' cookers for many years with a crockery pot on a hot plate; I've got one and it does an excellent job as this type does. Just don't expect it to do what a Crock Pot does.

This is the best small appliance I have ever had. I have had it 20 years or so. I cook everything in it: pot roasts, pork roasts, stew, pulled pork, beans, etc. I have purchased about 8 of them over the years for wedding gifts, college graduation gifts, Xmas, etc.

There are two main reasons I love this so much. One is the versitility of the heat control. I hate crockpots because all you get is low and high! Give me a break, who cooks like that?? These have settings from 1-5, almost as many as a stove burner. I can brown my stew or roast on 5 then turn it down to 3 or halfway between 3 & 4 or 4 depending on how long I want to be away from the house or want it to cook. The base doubles as a griddle by itself. Takes up very little counter and storage space. The pot goes into the oven or on the stove if you need or want it to. The pot and lid go into the dishwasher, although I ususally just give a quick wash with hot soapy water and wipe off the base. The other reason I love it is it is small and lightweight. No heavy monster crockpots to handle, try to lift full of food and then try and wash!

I have the older model of this cooker that is 6 quarts. At the time I purchased it you had the choice of 4 or 6 qt size. After 20 years I need to replace it, although it still works perfectly, the teflon pot lining is scratched and the teflon coating on the base(griddle) is flaking. But after 20 years of using it 3-5 times a week, its certainly held up wonderfully. I am now purchasing two more, one for me and one as a wedding gift! My only regret is that they no longer make the 6 quart in this model, only the 5 qt. I would recommend it without question!! Enjoy!

Best Deals on West Bend 84905 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker

I received this 6qt oblong cooker back in the 80's for a gift. It was gold in color. I LOVED this unit! I use it all the time. Over the years it has shown wear. Because of my love for this unit, I attempted to replace it, even though the old one is still functioning. I found that this unit is no longer available in the 6 qt size, it is now a 5 qt. Very disappointing but acceptable. I ordered it. Upon receipt I found the glass lid did not fit properly. It rocked allowing heat, steam & moisture to escape...Very dangerous for transporting. Called the Company and was sent a new vessel, assuming mine waa warped. I didn't think the glass lid could be faulty. Received vessel (after a 2 week wait). Same problem! Vessel is much more thinner than original. Again, I can deal with this. Not happy but will deal with it. I am VERY VERY disappointed in the unit because of the ill fitting lid. I am very sorry I ordered it. Definitely would not recommended it.

Honest reviews on West Bend 84905 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker

I ordered this slow cooker to replace a Rival that was 10-years-old and no longer coming up to temperature. When it first arrived, I was a bit skeptical as it appeared to be smaller than my original slow cooker, but despite its compact size, this slow cooker holds the same amount as the much bulkier Rival.

PROS: I love the fact that I can brown meats on the stove in the cooker before placing the cooker on the base to slow-cook no need to dirty up an additional pan browning the meat. I also enjoy using the base as a griddle for pancakes or French toast, or grilled cheese sandwiches freeing a burner on my stove. The griddle and slow cooker are very easy to clean the non-stick surface is great. The temperature settings on the griddle range from 1 -5 1 being low, 2 medium, 3 representing high for a slow cooker, and 4 and 5 used for griddle use. This slow cooker is so compact! I've never seen a slow cooker of similar capacity take up so little space.

CONS: I have not discovered any yet.

I wore out my West Bend cooker of some 20 years ago, bought one for my dad, and sister and two friends.

This item is sturdy, versatile, easy to maintain, and reliable. Better suited to large pieces of meat like whole chickens because of the shape.

The only negative is the short cord length.

GFK4 was a breeze to install in my Healtilator Fireplace.

Did not initially start when fireplace heated up, so called technical

PERSON THAT ASSEMBLES MY MODEL. She had me re-check a

to check the thermostat starting and voila! Has been working great

The thermostat is a simple unit that is easy to install. I use it in a warehouse for a heating zone in the winter only, so I have no use for programing or air conditioning use (it will run a cooling unit if you need it to).

The batteries seem to last for quite a long time.

Installed by HVAC contractor with a new furnace and A/C so I can't comment on ease of installation. It's easy to use and does what I ask it to and price here on Amazon was very good. No complaints at all.

Best Deals on Honeywell YTH9421C1002 Visionpro IAQ Touch Screen 7-Day

I bought this to use on my new York furnace and a/c. I have the thermostat on the upper level and I have a remote(wired) temp sensor downstairs in the nursery. After a couple of weeks I noticed that my house seemed a lot colder than it did with my old system and vintage Honeywell thermostat so I had the installer check the thermostat and remote temp sensor. He discovered that the remote sensor was accurate within .5 degrees, but the thermostat read 4 degrees warmer in heat mode and two degrees cooler in cool mode than either of his devices. While this is great if you want to save money on your bills, it's awful if you want to be comfortable. The thermostat has a temperature offset feature, but if you set it two degrees warmer the cool setting will be 4 degrees off and vice versa(sp?). I had this thermostat for 3 or 4 months before I had it installed, so I couldn't return it for "satisfaction" reasons and it the warranty doesn't seem to cover accuracy. I'll probably end up installing a remote sensor right next to the thermostat and use it as the temperature sensor.

I do like some of the features of this thermostat, it has worked very well with my York Affinity modulating furnace. It has "learned" the ideal heating and cooling cycle lengths to maintain our house at the temp it does read and the "circulate" feature is absolute genius.

I wouldn't recommend spending more on this thermostat if you're expecting it to be worth the money.
