Seven-day programmable thermostats are more flexible today but I can't say that one is better than the other one, because I didn't buy them all and check them all out. However, I do know what has worked for me and my family for years and why I am staying with Hunter. After removing thermostats and replacing them with Hunters in the past; there was a good reason ... quality, ease of operation, good support and durability. Consumer Reports (CR) rates (a scoring based on several measurable factors) seven-day programmable thermostats as best to least as follows: LUX, ACE, White Rogers, Hunter, CTC, Robert Shaw, Trane, Honeywell and ICM Controls. I am not a dye-in the wool believer that the best is the best or the least is the least in their ratings but I do read what they have to say and why they say it. This seven-day programmable Hunter is a jewel: ease of installation and setup, back-lit screen (after touching it), menu-driven set of choices for changes, and flexibility to make the unit do what you want it to do. Its good looking, good sized screen and easy to read. You won't believe how easy it is to set up or modify. Oh, yeah, Hunter also lets you disengage the unit from the wall mounting and go sit down somewhere and program it on your lap or at a table so you don't have to stand at the wall and make your entries. It also has a useful setting which turns on the ac/heater fan for several minutes to move air through the house during periods of ac/heater inactivity. The set-up and menu-driven flexibility sells itself ... the results should keep one satisfied for a long time. Read the manual for settings and changes (menu) before you set it up ... remember its flexible. I really like this unit ... check it out.

I am really happy with my new thermostat. It was a painless instal. The touch screen works quite well. The menu system is easy to navigate. The program is very easy to setup. It heats my house much more accurately than my old one. Also, it looks good too. I highly recommend this product.Best Deals on Hunter 44905 Universal 7-Day Programmable Thermostat
This thermostat is great! I am actually about to buy another one! Well worth the money! Easy to program, see and change settings!Honest reviews on Hunter 44905 Universal 7-Day Programmable Thermostat
Wanted a thermostat that had a "recirculate" feature. Honeywell sells them but as you have probably already read they WILL NOT honor the warranty unless installed & serviced by a contractor.Hunter sells this 44905 that seemed to fit the bill. Quit after 2 days. Re-installed the Hunter 44360 that had worked for 8 years not very fun waking to a house at 52 degrees & having to get the multimeter out for a diagnostic exercise.
As an engineering student, I was told KISS keep it simple stupid. This also applies to thermostats. After investigating these newer touch-screen models I was VERY apprehensive in buying one, way too many complaints about quality control issues. I work in manufacturing, I'm well aware that "line-speed" rate of units/minute greatly effects quality. I'd suspect their operational engineer has the line tweaked a little to high in order to impress his/her superior.
PROS: easy to install, can be programmed unplugged from wall, recirculates air for 15mins if the unit senses the system has not been active for 60mins
CONS: Lasted 2 days, only has 3 programmable zones per day (my older model 44360 has 4 zones per day)
Keep the receipt & good luck.
