We actually bought this Thermostat from Costco after getting a $190.00 electric bill, after programming the stat to lower temps by 5 degrees during hours were not at home and 2 degrees while we sleep our next bill was $140.00, one month and it paid for itself, literally

by the way, this thermostat is extremely easy to install, just make sure you take the three existing wires and plug them into the same slots (mine were color coded), the screw holes should line up exactly but if you have an existing round thermostat be aware that this one sits slightly lower and you may have to paint that wall because the old thermostat spot will show, I luckily still had paint left over from that wall!

Got this for supplemental heat in my (all too often) cool office.

I chose this particular unit because it has the option of running at either 1500W (like most) or 750W. Being able to run this at a lower power means I won't be utilizing most of the line's power capability & have less of a risk of blowing the circuit breaker.

It is quiet, save a few minor 'clicks' when it cycles on/off to maintain the set temp (digital setting to an exact number, much better than a nondescript dial going from 'low' to 'high' or some equally nonsense range of 1-10).

Timer function is nice, so it can be set to go off automatically, so no need to remember to turn it off. Accuracy on the timer is a bit sketchy, though. I set it for 9 hr after I get in, & it will go anywhere from the exact time to 15-20 min sooner. Not a major issue for me.

This oven is adequate for small items but it has one flaw; it has parts such as the fan motor shaft that rust and drop rust flakes back into the chamber. We had to disassemble our oven and treat the rusting parts with an epoxy coating to keep it from contaminating samples.

Hunter 42999 Just Right Digital Thermostat Reviews

Winter weather has finally hit mid-state Illinois! I have been prepared and had the furnace all ready to go. My family returned home on Thanksgiving to a cold house. My old mechanical round style thermostat had finally failed (it had been acting up in the recent days).

I was a little nervous having to select a new thermostat and even more nervous about installing it. I'm not a real hands-on person with regard to home repair. But we were in a real need for something.

I picked this unit up very late on Thanksgiving night and proceeded to take it home (don't forget the 2 AA batteries). This unit was replacing an old round mechanical style thermostat in my home. The box says it would be a workable replacement solution and it was.

Installation was very simple (thank goodness I only have a 2-wire heating only system). I removed the old thermostat from the wall and removed the two wires (after powering off my system) from the old thermostat base. I followed the instructions that came with the Hunter unit (there are several easy to read wiring diagrams for the different heating/cooling systems) and attached the wires to the new base of the Hunter unit (after attaching it to the wall). The terminals are easy to read and hooking up the new one was snap. I attached the main unit to the wall base and installed the batteries. I followed the instructions to set the desired temperature and haven't had a need to touch it since. I had this unit fully installed in about 15 minutes (remember I'm slow since I'm new to this). Even for me this was easy to install properly. This unit will replace many thermostat styles and will control most heating/cooling systems (a full list is available on the package). Even better the factory default settings were the right ones to control my 2-wire gas hot water baseboard furnace.

The Hunter functions very well. Last night the outside temperatures dipped into the mid twenties while my family and I remained comfortable and warm inside. I have other thermometers (digital) in the house and the Hunter keeps the room temperature within 1 degree Fahrenheit from the set level regardless of how cold or windy it is outside. Something my old mechanical thermostat could never do.

The features of this unit are nice. The LCD screen is easy to read. The buttons are large and easy to use. The unit has a slim profile and looks nice on the wall (shouldn't be too noticeable in any room). The mode selection buttons and other controls are neatly hidden behind an easy to open swing out door on one side of the LCD display while the batteries are behind a similar door on the other side (no need to remove thermostat to replace batteries)! Operating instructions are neatly printed on the inside of the door housing the controls for easy access eliminating the need to search for the instruction manual later. I also appreciate the fact that the thermostat is electronically controlled and the unit doesn't have to be perfectly level to function correctly. This unit has functioned without problems and has been worry free for me and has kept my family warm and comfortable.

We've recently moved to a new house and the Hunter served us well all year at the old place. It functions well and keeps the house comfortable. The batteries last a long, long time (a year plus).

I've just installed the identical thermostat in our new home to replace another round mechanical thermostat. This new home has a heat/cool forced air system where the old house was baseboard water heat. Again the thermostat installed very easily with the added wire diagrams. Installation is quite simple and the thermostat is easy to set up (just a matter of flipping a switch and adjusting the set point (one button).

I highly recommend this thermostat for an economical efficient means to ensure comfort for your home and family. The Hunter provided a noticeable energy savings on my old home, and I'm sure it will on this one too. Again, highly recommended!

Installed the new Hunter thermostat in just a few minutes with the help of the on line wiring guide. The hook was from a 6 wire system and 3 of the wires were not color coded or labeled with the same reference type. The web site provided the wiring diagram and the reason for the extra wires that were no longer to be used. There was concern that the 1 degree on/off would run the furnace too often and the instructions were clear on how to reset the function to 3 degrees. Sat last night with a comfortable warm 5th wheel and enjoyed the evening. Have let several of the other units that were having the same problem know the results. The old thermostat when set at 70 degrees would come on at 64 and shut off at 75 degrees.

Excellent and reliable product at a reasonable price. I installed this in our Scamp 16 ft fiberglass trailer in less than 15 minutes. It works much better than the OEM mechanical thermostat. It would be nice to have batteries included with the product when shipped, but this way I know that the batteries are fresh.

We love our camper and love camping in the fall and spring. The bed lifts up for storage which is fantastic, but it means an uninsulated space under our bed -which can hold cold air. Cold air that can find its way through the mattress. We found that turning this mattress pad on helped take away the chills before crawling into bed.

The night we ran out of propane and could see our breath inside the camper -we were very happy for the heated mattress pad. The kids all jumped into bed to stay warm while we went to the store to refill the propane tanks.

So nice to be able to crawl into a warm bed on cold MN nights. Unlike an electric blanket, which can be heavy feeling and not as pliable as quilt or sheets, the mattress pad warms you from below. I like the preheat function and the auto shut off. I set mine for 6 hours that way I do not get overheated during the night. Very comfortable to sleep on as well.

I live in Florida. Contrary to popular belief, it does get cold here during the winter months. I don't like turning on the heat, so I use this to warm up the bed for me. I like to put my pj's or nightgown under the covers. They are warm when I put them on. There is a preheat setting which is perfect for me. I turn it off when I get in bed. There is also a timer setting that comes in handy. I have the queen size so there are two controls. The only down side to this item is the 'foot' zone does not warm up and that's where I would like to feel the warmth. I don't know if this is a defect in mine or not, but I can curl up and it works. I would recommend this item to people who like a warm cozy bed to crawl into during cold snaps.

I have a two wire system that was using an older thermostat that was not digital. My old thermostat wasn't clearly labeled and so it was hard to know what temp I was actually setting it on. This one works perfectly with my two wire system (although I do have to run it off the batteries) and it very accurately sets the temperature and reflects the current temp. I've compared it to another temp gauge I have and, like I said, it's accurate.

The on/off switch really isn't that important during the coldest months because you set the exact temperature you want and leave it on! No more guessing if the temperature is too warm or too cold. The thermostat is rated at a max of 7.4 amps so will only support a 1750W heater. This won't work for my heater and it would have been nice to know when ordering it.

We purchased this Skytech controller to replace an Ambient unit that had shorted out after only five years use. Originally, we'd planned to replace the unit with the same brand, but Ambient was double the price (?) and as we couldn't order directly from Amazon, but were redirected to the Ambient site, they wanted us to pay somewhere around $11 for shipping.

So, not seeing that there was any additional value for the extra money, we decided to give the Skytech controller a try. Voila! It works like a charm, and unlike our previous Ambient unit, was very easy to set and control. One thing though, don't try to install this if you're not qualified to do so. My hubby is a master electrician, so this was a no-brainer for him. But for a person with no experience, please ask for help. (Safety first!)

The unit is really basic, with only an On-Auto-Off Switch and the remote control also has only On-Off-Timer-Set on its face. In a world where we are inundated with fancy gadgetry, it's nice to see a simple way to warm yourself by the fire. Buy it!

This was a good compromise for my mother who couldn't reach or read the old one. She still has to reach to switch from heat to cool, but then can easily dial up or down with her remote-even from the bed.

Pros: 1) It works quite well keeps a very even temperature, which I think is the only thing that's more important than keeping a wine cool to preserve it. (My thought is the juice "breathes" through the cork, and thermal expansion, either up or down messes with the chemistry more than anything.)

2) It actually holds 8 bottles stacked if you remove the two top racks.

3) Looks very well-made, the digital temp (in degrees F or C) is great.

4) Very easy to use.

Cons: 1) Smelled terrible: like Bondo or fingernail polish at first. Because of the "breathing" that wine does (mentioned above) I recommend leaving it open out on the back porch for a few days before using it, and then with a bag of activated charcoal in it for a while (baking soda didn't help.)

2) It's loud maybe as loud as a regular refigerator running. The heat-sink fans on the back sound like a suped-up computer system, but what's worse is that they go on an off every few seconds (apparently precisely adjusting the interior temperature.) If the fans would stay on constantly, at least you could get used to it.

3) If the power goes off, it resets to 45 degrees which is way too cold and negates the benefit of Pro number 1. The last thing you want is a slowly-warming bottle going up to 65 or 70 in a few hours to then be quickly chilled to 45 I can just see the cork sliding back and forth like a piston on an antique locomotive.

If they packed it with a bag of charcoal, had a quieter fan that you could set to be on-continuously, and used non-volatile memory for the temperature setting, it would get 5 stars.

This is a great size for a vacation cottage or to fit a smaller space. It's sophisticated enough to set different temperatures for the different wines. It has an interior light and a circulating fan. The instruction booklet gives you the 8 settings it has for various wines. The wine cellar looks good, so you could have it wherever you need your wine for meals or entertaining.

Although it is quieter than other beverage coolers and small refrigerators that we've had, it still hums quite frequently. We had to move it away from our dining room so it wouldn't annoy us.

I read alot of negative reviews but tried the product anyhow and I LOVE it. I will say the first one I bought did not hold the temperature. I called Cuisinart and they shipped me a new one, which I had in about 4 days AND they took the old one back with an RMA. I have no complaints it chills the wine great and the racks are sturdy. There are plenty of preset temperature settings along with manual if you need them. I do reccomend you keep it a cool room and out of direct sunlight as the instructions say. I definately reccomend this product to anyone that needs a small refrigerator.

I bought this product hoping to be able to help preserve some of my better wines during the warm summer months. According to the insert with the product, if the room temperature is 77 then you can't do better than 54 in the wine cellar. My house temps usually run around 78+ through the summer, so this unit won't even make the 54 setting or the 57. I have it set at 64 and it continuously cycles on an off (every 30 seconds or so) with a fan that's very obnoxious and not at all quiet as advertised. On the insert and in bold letters they state "This is a wine cellar, not a refrigerator." I'm not so sure I would even call it a 'wine cellar'...more of an energy gulper (approx. 100 watts according to the user guide.)

Installed this to replace a 12-year old burned out single-element heater. It was a perfect fit, but nearly immediately the refrigerator and freezer components emitted a putrid burning smell. Over the next week, I validated the heater still worked by checking for the heater glow everything I heard the compressor click off. After a little more than a week, I could no longer stand food and ice tasting of burned plastic, so I removed the heater and found the plastic ends and part of the inside of one of the coils melted.

Today I noticed the smell is gone (with thanks to 4 well-placed boxes of baking soda), but found ice build-up on the back wall, so I assume the defrost heater is toast. I'm ordering a genuine one to replace this one, since my original GE part lasted 12 years and this one, just a little over 12 days.

Too good to be true.
