Have already owned one of these. A GRV 160. Had to replace it with this smaller version. No better indoor meat griller on the market. Only cons are that the griddles won"t come off for cleaning. Item works pretty well, of course it's a fan that pushes air, how hard is that to achieve? Most problems pushing air from one room to the next have to do with ventilation in general. That is, if you're pushing air into a room and you close the door in that room, with thick carpet, there's no way for the air to escape the room so your fan isn't going to work.

This suncourt unit is nice in that it's sound level, even on high, is relatively low. But one other benefit is that it has a variable speed dial which allows you to, effectively, turn down the volume. Most fans settings consist of either a high, which is obnoxiously loud, or a low which doesn't push any air. So this fan pretty much takes care of that issue.

I used it on top of a standard 4" x 12" floor 'register' by just using 3 pieces of 12"x12" (2" thick) foam pads purchased at a hardware store. I took off the register grill. Cut the 4" x 11" center out of the the bottom one to go over the duct opening. Then cut the top two out with the enclosed 'wall' template cut-out included with the fan. The foam helps insulate the sound and doesn't seem to affect the airflow any. You do have to make a 'plug-in' end for the fan as it only comes with a 'pig tail'. So get a $6 extension cord end at the hardware store as well if you plan to plug it in to a wall outlet. It's not glamorous but it works pretty well and I believe it moves far more air than a standard register (insert) booster. Not to mention, the 'grill' you see in the picture can be rotated 360 degrees to direct the air in any direction you want.

I have lived in the home I am in for over 14 years and have always had a problem in the winter with getting heat from the wood stove into the back bedroom. With this through the wall fan it has increased the temperature by about 5 to 7 degrees. It was worth the price for the extra comfort.

I own a pellet stove that I have in the basement. I was leaving the door to the cellar open and letting nature bring the heat up. Sometimes the room in the cellar was 80 degrees or more. With this fan mounted at the top of the stairs and exiting into the living room I am getting the heat where I need it and the cellar is cooler. It's a win win. I was having trouble with the fan initially and sent it back for a replacement. I again had problems and worked with the company to figure it all out. They were very patient and I found the problem was mine, not theirs. The fan works as advertised, maybe even better. I encourage anyone that needs to move air from one space to another to purchase this product.

11/28/11 We use a woodstove to heat the house in the winter. The room adjacent to the living room was always cold so we looked for a way to move warm air from the living room to the adjacent bedroom. I researched several fans and this one fit our needs because we specifically wanted a minimum of 100cf of air per minute not be limited to just 100cf per minute. The Amazon price was the lowest.

The Amazon website for this fan is lacking in the technical information we needed to make an informed purchase so I had to go to the manufacturer's website. This fan moves 100cf (low) up to 200cf (high) of air per minute using an adjustable speed "knob" on the front of the fan and it was supposed to be pretty quiet. It also has a rotating grill to direct air flow which is convenient. Some of the other websites offer the fan without the rotating grill at a lower price. I'd never consider that option because we want to be able to direct the airflow as needed.

The installation was not difficult. I recommend getting the wax tracing paper found in the sewing department of a fabric store or something similar to transfer the template outline to the wall. It makes it easier to cut the sheetrock without having to mess with the paper template getting in the way. You can cut it with the template, just make sure you securely tape it to the wall (use blue tape not duct tape).

We put the fan about 4' from the corner and 6" from the ceiling on the wall nearest the woodstove. It's in a great place to capture the heat and move it to the next room.

It helps my husband is an electrical engineer so he was able to do all the electrical work. He put a light switch (the flat decorative kind, not the regular toggle kind) on the wall below the intake side of the fan. This allows us to turn the fan on and off from the living room where the woodstove is located because we don't need to change the fan speed.

Also, having the switch on the output side room would have been inconvenient for us (and probably not necessary since the on/off speed control is on that side of the wall). Besides wanting to control the heat transfer from the room with the heat, every now and then some evil smoke sneaks out while I'm reloading wood. I don't have to run around to the other room to cut off the fan while I'm trying to get the air purifier turned on to get the smoke out of the room.

We did put insulation in the wall around the fan (as suggested by another reviewer). I don't know if it helped; however, we had the insulation so it wasn't a big deal to use it.

I said earlier the output of this fan is 100cf to 200cf. The adjustment knob allows for very minute adjustments to the fan speed. This is important because you need to find that sweet spot between air flow and fan noise. This is an inexpensive fan and even though the paperwork says the fan is balanced, our fan makes more noise as the speed increases. It wobbles on high speed; however, that doesn't concern us because we would never use high speed. Wobbling on the higher speeds is the only reason I gave the fan four stars instead of five.

I can't find a way to import a picture or you'd be able to see one of the nice features of this fan is it's pretty discrete on the input wall. We have it high enough on the wall so it's functional yet out of the way. Both sides of the fan can be painted I'd recommend you do it before your final installation so you don't have to mess with taking it down and putting it back up.

Overall, we're pleased with this fan. The temperature in the adjacent room is significantly warmer and the minimal fan noise doesn't bother us at night.

ETA: 12/13/11 I changed the stars from four to five. This fan does a very good job for the price. I now have the fan speed halfway between 100cf/minute and 200cf/minute and the sound is barely discernable unless you're standing right under it. The reality of it is there's all that power in that small housing so it's going to make some noise. However, my ceiling fan on high makes more noise than the wall fan. We've had it in the wall for a couple of weeks and have been pleased with its ability to push enough air into the next room to keep it at a comfortable temperature.

ETA: 12/27/12 It's been a little over a year since we installed the fan and I am so glad we did it! Right now the outside temperature is 26 degrees and we're nice and warm in the rooms that get direct heat from the wood stove and I can walk into the bedroom and not get slapped in the face with cold temperatures (as I did "before fan").

The bedroom will never be as warm as the rooms that get the direct heat and that is fine with us because we want the bedroom to be a little cooler when we sleep. That being said, this fan does a very good job at keeping the bedroom significantly more comfortable in cold weather. The switch we installed on the wall has been a convenient feature and I recommend anyone installing this fan also put in an on/off switch.

I still can't figure out how to put a picture in this review so I could show you the location of the fan in relation to the wood stove and also where we put the switch so I'll try to describe our setup.

We have the wood stove at an angle in a corner in the living room. The fan is on the adjacent bedroom wall straight up from the stove (about 5' from the top of the stove to the fan we have low ceilings so the fan is about 6" from the ceiling). The on/off switch is on the stove side of the wall about 4' from the floor and over about a foot from the stove so I can easily get to it and the heat from the stove doesn't affect it.

We chose to put the on/off switch on the stove side of the wall because that was the most logical place for us to control the fan. There have been a few times I've let smoke out of the stove when I added more wood and it was easy to reach up and turn off the fan so the smoke wouldn't blow in the bedroom. I keep a Holmes air purifier in the living room so I can turn it on when I have "duh" moments such as that. Thank goodness those times are not as frequent as they were when we first got the stove all those years ago.

My husband and I were talking a few days ago about how much we liked the fan and why did it take us so long to get one. I reminded him of all the research we did in years prior to buying this fan and just couldn't find a "good" fan. We didn't want to cut a hole in the wall and then find out we made a mistake.

Then I found this fan on Amazon and did more research and we've been very happy with it. I cannot speak to other people's experiences; however, for us this fan was an excellent choice.

we have two small rooms off our bedroom, a walk-in closet and an office, and neither has heating or cooling. installed this fan between them to create circulation and it works great, pulling heated or cooled air into one room, through the wall to the other, and pushing it back out into the bedroom. adjustable speed is nice. gave it 3 stars because would be nice if the fan was a bit quieter at high speed.

Changed my mechanical t-stat in a new travel trailer to this digital one. I had 2 portable thermometers in the TT, one in the front and one in the back, and this t-stat is in the middle. They all 3 read exactly the same temp, which is good. When I first fired up the furnace on an outing this weekend is when I noticed the quirk, which may be a quirk with all digital t-stats in such a small area. The temp in the TT was reading 62 on all 3 thermometers so I fired up the furnace and set it to 68 then went outside with our friends. I came back in about 30 minutes later because I noticed the furnace was still running and found the inside of the TT to be 82 as registered on the 2 portable thermometers. The t-stat read 67. At first I thought the t-stat was bad so I shut it down and left it. I went back in the TT about an hour later and the thermometer on the t-stat registered 76.

I came to the conclusion it takes the digital t-stat a little longer to register the true ambient room temp when you are increasing the current temp by more than just a degree or two. So, I played a little and found the t-stat works flawlessly if you keep the room within a couple of degrees but if you want to increase it by as much as 5 degrees you need to get the room AND t-stat to the desired room temp first before it will control the temp accurately.

Easy to install, simple. Replaced a mechanical thermostat which was hard to get set because any adjustment would move about 5 degrees, The White-Rodgers adjusts at 1 degree intervals.

Works as advertised, nothing fancy about this thermostat but at that price I can't complain. I guess the only thing I might ask for is a more modern and sleek design, but then again, that would just make it cost more. Easy installation, display is easy to read, buttons work without effort. Use this mostly to prevent pipes freezing and sometimes working in a standalone gararge. Puts out good heat and appears to be a well built unit. Only complaint is the thermostatic control. Very hard to set with any accuracy but I just err on the side of more heat (only reason for lack of 5 stars). It's a 30 amp heater but it will pop my 40 amp breakers after running a couple of hours. This is probably my problem, not the heaters since I think it would happen much sooner if the heater was drawing that much current.

The 30 amp model is 5500 watts. I used this in an apartment building so the pipes would not freeze. it will go on and off by itself due to an internal thermometer. I had it set very low and was economical. I am going to use this in my basement at my home next winter. This heater is good for low ceiling applications and not high ceiling applications. It is good for about 1600 square feet. Probably could heat your whole house but would be expensive on maximum power. I am going to use it in the basement of my house for below zero days. This will keep you warm but keep in mind it will cost a lot on full power so try to run it on half power. if you have high ceilings, forget it. the blower will not blow hard enough to keep high ceiling areas warm such as you would find in many commercial applications. you will need a thirty amp breaker and outlet for a 30 amp plug installed.

It works perfectly well. I have two minor complaints. One is that there is no real on/off switch. If you have it plugged in, and the heat dial at minimum, it still heats. That's important to be aware of. It's not your ordinary toaster, which doesn't do anything unless you push down the slider. Second problem is MUCH less important. The clip that's supposed to hold the top and bottom together in storage is totally worthless. Just don't depend on it.

That being said, it works very nicely as a panini press. The lid is flexible, and has a heat proof spot where you can tilt it to accomodate the thickness of your panini. The heat dial is generally accurate, so if you follow your instincts or the little cookbook, things turn out well. It's easy to clean up. I don't have enough room on the counter to let it out, but like most DeLonghi stuff, the style is very nice.

This heater is the best little heater, I find the remote control works real well to help from having to get up from our desks to make setting changes. We have a fairly big room we use it in. The only complaint that I have with it, is that when my wife is down here, she can change the tempature of the room from 67 to 75 in only less than 30 mins, and I am complaining that I need the thing turned off.

The Optimus heater did a wonderful job heating my 12X12 room. My room started getting warmer within 15 minutes and it hit the 65 degree mark in 25 minutes. Considering my heat has not worked in that room for the whole winter, not bad.

Great little heater. The temperature gage seems to work really well, and the remote control is definately useful. Quiet enough for me to sleep comfortably when it was set on low.

After reading the earlier reviews, I was looking forward to the arrival of this heater. Perhaps the one sent to me was defective, but when turned on it generated noxious (toxic?) fumes that quickly resulted in eye and pulmonary irritation. I ran it for 30+ hours in the garage with the door open in an attempt to burn off what ever was causing the fumes, but without success.

Further, the unit didn't strike me as being particularly well-made: it was wobbly and the adhesive for the top central Optimus label wasn't up to the task as the label either fell off or slipped askew when the heater was turned on.

I have a two wire system that was using an older thermostat that was not digital. My old thermostat wasn't clearly labeled and so it was hard to know what temp I was actually setting it on. This one works perfectly with my two wire system (although I do have to run it off the batteries) and it very accurately sets the temperature and reflects the current temp. I've compared it to another temp gauge I have and, like I said, it's accurate.

Got this last winter for a 1200 sq ft garage. First one delivered leaked but Amazon.com immediately shipped a new one and took the first one back...best customer service I've ever had! Raises the temperature of my garage 10 degrees in ten minutes. Only regret I have is not spending the extra $$$ for a little more powerful one for really cold days, and one with a thermostat to turn up and down rather than plug and unplug the unit. It should prove to be a good emergency heat source as well as general purpose cold weather heater for working outside. It should work well to thaw frozen pipes also.

I have found this heater to be easy to operate and very reliable. If you put it in a safe spot with it on a non flammable base you can use it in the house. I have been running the heater on Bio-Diesel, burns great, no toxic fumes, you just filter the Bio-diesel before putting it in the tank.

The heater is a little loud, however if you are trying to save on your heating bill it is worth the inconvenience.

I bought eight of these bowls for my pet rabbits which i keep outside in protected, but not heated, hutches. They work well and keep the water thawed effectively. I have 2 compliants about them, however. The first is that they are difficult to clean without completely removing them from the holder. This problem would be solved if a small drain with plug was added to each of them (which i may do myself since i have metalworking tools). I also think that if some sort of silicon sleeve were placed around the cord as it exits the bowl, it may be easier to pull out of the holder and tip over to clean. The second problem i have found is that a couple of them are not level and therefore the water tips out and has to be refilled more often. The product does keep the water thawed, but for 33.00 a piece, it should be a little easier to clean on a day to day basis.

Recieved this water dish quickly and it was well packed and quickly shipped. I used it in my Egglu the first day I got it. I have three chickens in there, and it nicely exceeds their needs. Has been zero here and it has not frozen. I fill it every morning. It requires a quick rinse most days which I do with a water bottle having a squirt lid (a drinking type). The cord is well protected from their pecking at it by a steel cable covering. The mount fit well in our rather large holed cage wiring. I think it would fit small holes well also. I am pleased with this purchase and would make it again.

I bought this because the weather this year is so cold we were always having to empty the dogs water bowl even during the day. This never freezes, my only complaints would be the opening could be a little wider and also the weld spots (on the bottom of the bowl)seem like they might rust with time, there is a discoloration on the bottom of the bowl so will have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't rust the water.

These bowls are great they've saved a lot of fuss and worry about keeping my bunnies watered. The size is nice, as they can be cleaned and refreshed easily without a lot of waste. When I purchased this product, the packaging called it a "Water Heater Tester" leading me to believe it was more than a simple continuity tester which a homeowner, handyman or electrician uses to determine if the wire is continuous (not broken) between the clip tip and pinpoint tip on the body of the tool. You can use a standard continuity tester to test the continuity of a water heater element just as easily/well as with using this product. Thankfully, the product is now called "Water Heater Continuity Tester." Remember, of course, this tool is not to be used on live/hot appliances, etc.: it doesn't detect current and use on a live line will ruin/break this tool it detects only continuity.
