I bought this as my first Kegerator, it came fairly quickly "about a week earlier than they had estimated". Setup was fairly simple, but had a few kinks. I had to reseat the tower hosing on the plastic ring it was mounted on as it was crooked, and the tap handle was missing. I was'nt very angry with the missing handle what I did was going to a local store and bought a "Shift Knob" that was really nice for my handle. The system came with the empty tank and the gauges I needed, I had to search alittle for a place that would fill that tank. When I did find a place to fill it it only cost about 15 bucks. so 25 bucks later I had a functioning kegerator. Overall I am very happy, who would'nt when they can have a nice cold draft at home?

I read tons of reviews so knew what I was getting into and had some concerns from other reviews that turned out fine.

Temperature It is true that the kegerator was not getting cold enough but like many reviews mentioned all you have to do is call or email Edgestar and they will send you a pdf explaining how to take the casing of the thermostat and dial it down colder. The first time I went too far and my lines were freezing so i just brought it back a little and perfect.

Assembly When I was done I had a few pieces left. Not sure what they are for. Maybe if you want to convert to just a refrigerator with no tap. Biggest complaint with assembly was the bottom casing of the unit was slightly overlapping the hole that one of the casters screws into. I put a phillips head on there and tapped it with a hammer enough to shift it over. Didn't feel like taking the time to send it back over this and was confident I could remedy it myself but still a little disappointing the products actually go out like that.

Noise At first I didn't notice any noise above the noise any other refrigerator makes. I know notice some louder noise at times when I guess the unit is kicking on hire to maintain the temperature. It doesn't bother me but I wanted to mention it. I am watching TV right next to the thing and the noise really isn't any issue

CO2 The manual recommends up to 12 psi. I found that way too high and was getting wild beer. I start my keg more around 4-5 and then increase if necessary.

Keg sizes I have read a few reviews noting that the unit will not fit a standard size half barrel. I cannot speak to that as I am using only for homebrewing and have corny kegs in mine. I did notice someone say that their corny keg isn't fitting vertically which I was surprised by. Mine fit fine. I am wondering if it has something to do with the tap. I just have the gas line in and beer line out attachments on mine.

That's all the specific things I wanted to address and have seen in other reviews. I have had the unit for about 4 months now and am very happy so far. I knew getting into it I wasn't going to be using half barrels so had no concern about that and was confident I could get the unit colder which was no problem with the pdf Edgestar emailed me. I love being able to get cold draft beer at home and it saves me a ton of time from bottling all of my homebrew. Just remember to clean your lines regularly. I think this is a great value at the price it's listed. You can pay more and not have to deal with a few hiccups but I was glad to save some money.

Easy set up. You will have to buy a european sanky (tap) is you want to buy some european kegs, but other than that, it is great. It comes with an empty aluminum tank for the CO2. A lot of places will exchange the tank instead of filling it. Make sure they exchange it with another aluminum tank. Steel tanks can give off a rusty taste.

This unit would not get cold. I sent them an e-mail through their website and they sent me instructions on adjusting the thermostat. Still not cold, in fact 20 degrees hotter. Went from 55dF to 75dF. Called them, they said I had ruined the thermostat and charged me $58 for a new one, plus $9 shipping, though their website, livingdirect.com had the same replacement thermostat for the same price with free shipping.Thermostat arrived, no instruction for installing. Involves taking the panel off back interior of unit and removing a probe from clips in the panel. then removing about 20" of a plastic sleeve from a flexible copper probe, reinstalling the same plastic sleeve on the new probe (VERY DIFFICULT), then reclipping the probe end to the clips and reinstalling the back interior panel. Then plugging in the wires. I called them and asked for instructions. Tech guy said he didn't have any instructions. I then asked why I was charged for a new thermostat for a unit under warranty. He said he would send me the return shipping labels to return the unit, I had to have original packaging or double box the unit in packaging I provided. He also said he didn't think I was capable of installing the thermostat. Online search reveals boxes to ship the unit back cost $60. I wasn't willing to spend that, so I installed the new thermostat. Still not cold (75dF). Then I called an appliance repairman who said the heat exchanger had a restriction in it and was defective, and it would cost more than the unit was worth to repair it. I advised EdgeStar about the cost of the shipping boxes and the diagnosis and they still refused to help.

We recently purchased the EdgeStar full size kegerator. Once assembled, we plugged it in and it would not cool down. We tried letting it sit for a few hours and then tried again to no avail. The compressor will kick on but there is no cool air circulating and the 1/4 keg we purchased is now becoming skunk. We called the company for help and they were the rudest, most unhelpful customer service people that we have ever dealt with. They do not have any servicing options available and we ( the customer) are required to ship it back at OUR cost in the ORIGINAL BOX and if there is any damage made while in transit back we're responsible for that also. The two people that we spoke with at EdgeStar were surly, disrespectful, and wanted to get us off the phone rather than do their job and help us. They claimed that they couldn't find our file or our purchase history when we became annoyed, they finally "found" our order. We DO NOT recommend doing any business with these people.

Their "helpline" is 866-319-5463. If you wanted an idea of their customer service before you purchase this item we encourage you to call and experience it for yourself. The only thing that we can be certain of is frustration.

Thank you for your time.

This is a great Kettle. Very sturdy with thick side walls and bottom. Nice and heavy. However, there is one thing I had an issue with. Not a deal breaker, but kind of misleading. The thermometer in the picture has makings that show different temps for different applications. Such as Mash, sparge, and protein rest. This is displayed in the second image that expands when you click on it. The actual thermometer has no such markings. Like I said, not a deal breaker, but I just don't like being mislead no matter how insignificant the details. Otherwise this is a great kettle. It arrived packaged in a box, inside another box. The weldless fittings came with extra gaskets and "O" rings. On some other pots that I looked at, the sidewalls of the pot where the handles were mounted would flex if I applied just a little bit of force. On this pot, nothing flexes. It's sturdy.

I have done two 10 gallon bathes with this pot. I am amazed how heavy, sturdy and functional this pot is. I am not quite sure about the accuracy of the thermometer, so I use my own to stick in. A great pot at a great price. It is huge. Easy to clean and well recommended.

Its pretty heavy, but thats ok. It feels sturdy. Thermometer and valve work beautifully (don't forget to close the valve when draining wort into pot! I did, and was not a happy camper).

Only complaint is there are no volume/gallon marks. Would be perfect with that.

Honest reviews on 15 Gal Home Beer Brewing Kettle w/ Valve & Thermometer

My husband love this with the built in thermometer and spout. be careful though, it is large (think storage) and your burner needs to accommodate the bottom for good heating.

The seal was missing for the thermometer, but I had another one. I could not get either seal to stop leaking. I don't know if the hole was drilled too big or what, but it leaked through spigot and thermometer. The thermometer filled with water as the water boiled, and is basically worthless. I didn't read that anyone else had this problem, so it may be just my kettle, but I'll have to do something to stop the leaking if I'm to get any use out of the kettle. Otherwise, it's good, solid stainless.

This heater ( or very similar from Patton) seems to have been around for a very long time. My father who is 96 actually did use this heater in the milk-house. Besides the nostalgia factor this heater does a good job for what it is designed to do, which is to put out safe heat. Not the prettiest, or quietest, probably not for your living room, but great for a smaller space, basement or garage. Here in Minneapolis where it is -2 degrees outside as I am writing this review, this little heater will take the edge off.

This is my 4th milkhouse heater in 12 years. I use my heater daily almost 9 months out of the year. I love them for heating up a small room quickly and safely. The only complaint on this new version is that there is no OFF button. It is always on with the button lit up. Unplugging and plugging it in is a pain. But it saves on the energy bill and so I do it.

Best Deals on Patton PUH680-U Milk-House 1000/1500 Watt Utility Heater

I've had this heater for two years now. It warms up the room well as you would expect, but is quite noisy when it is on.

However, the biggest problem I have with it is its poorly built construction. The heating and fan mechanism is riveted onto the frame instead of screwed on. That may be good and well, but if it gets knocked over a few times, the rivets become loose. There's no way to fix them! Thus, the heating mechanism is dangling inside the case with no easy solution other than returning it for replacement in warranty. If it had been screwed in, it would simply be a matter of tightening or replacing the screws.

This is especially disappointing because this is supposed to be a utility fan. One expects that a utility fan could be a little more durable than other types of fans. But when the rivets break after its knocked over, it becomes dangerous.

Honest reviews on Patton PUH680-U Milk-House 1000/1500 Watt Utility Heater

What prompted me to write this review was my purchase of a duraflame electric heater of similar wattage to the old milkhouse holmes branded unit a friend gave to me. Even though the two units claim similar heat output. The milkhouse heater really kicks out the heat compared with the duraflame $75 model. The duraflame is much more aesthetically appealing but cannot match the raw heat output of this unit. This unit will put out the most heat for your dollar cost. I have also purchased the plastic holmes units similar to this model and they are still not the same heat output. Just wanted to clarify for amazon customers that if you want heat buy this unit if you want fancy or pretty buy others.

This is the best small electric heater I have found--and I have used a lot of electric floor heaters. It is easy to use-uncomplicated. It turns off if you tip it over so it is safe. It doesn't overheat and turn itself off like many others. It seems to have a feature that causes it just to not overheat. I have left it on all night with no problems.

This oven is adequate for small items but it has one flaw; it has parts such as the fan motor shaft that rust and drop rust flakes back into the chamber. We had to disassemble our oven and treat the rusting parts with an epoxy coating to keep it from contaminating samples.

I have had this thermostat about four years. It has performed very well. Takes a while to program seven days with all the highs and lows. I had it set up to have the house cooled or heated by the time I arrived home from work. It has a processor that tells it when to start heating or cooling to meet your programmed times. If the day is very hot, the A/C will come on early to compensate. My only complaint is changing out he batteries. I have to put the new batteries in front of me, open the unit from the top and holding it with my left hand, to keep the electrical connectors in-line, and then put in the batteries. You have to re-set the time and day and run the program. The battery replacement is my only real irritation with the unit. It is accurate, has a button to change daylight savings time, and is a solid performer 24/7.

This fan moves more air than many others. The cost was acceptable and it operates with a standard plug which fits into 110v receptacle which is the same as a lamp. I have to look at it to see if it is still working because it is so quiet. With a step stool, I can feel the warm air coming from the heated room.

I recently purchased and installed this to move the hot air from my pellet stove . I cut a hole in the top of the wall in the living room and into the staircase to get the second floor. This fan is very well made and has two speeds. I find it to work very well and it is not very loud. I highly recommend it!

Fan works great. It moves alot of air for an 8 inch fan. Install would have been very easy if not for having solid 2 inch by 6 inch walls. But that was on my part not the fans. Once I got the holes cut, it went in very easily and secured to walls with no problems. Some say that on high the fan is too loud but I don't even notice it in my living room when on that setting. Using it to primarily push heat up my stairs from the living room where we use our fireplace most of the time and it warms the upstairs hall and rooms pretty well. Would highly recommend this fan.

This is an excellent product. Sturdy,I have used it every night for at least 8 hours for the past year. It moves a large amount of air, and is very, noisy. Its electric use in minimal, which is another bonus. It is also very good for blocking out noise from neighbors. For this price, this is an excellent buy.I have never owned a better box fan, and I have purchased literally scores through the years.

For some strange reason, I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep if this fan isn't on. It doesn't matter if it's snowing outside, this fan has to be on.

I have been using it for 2 years and it still works great. I rarely use the high setting because I have a small room, but the low setting is great for sleeping because it isn't very loud.

My only complaint, as will ALL fans that I've owned, are that they get dusty rather quickly and are difficult to clean. You have to unscrew the plastic screens, wipe the fan blade, hose down the screens, and screw them pack on.

Best Deals on Lasko 3733 20" Fan Box

I went out to my local Lowe's today and bought a few fan to test out. They had this exact same model and contrary to what people are saying here, it DOES NOT move a large volume of air.

I'm not saying that people here are lying or work for Lasko, but maybe they have just never had 3 diff models to test side by side. At the local store, they had the CFM ratings of each fan but this model wasn't listed, nor was any CFM rating found on the box. It's CFM rating is probably low so the Lasko probably doesn't want to advertise it.

Of the 3 models I tested, I kept the Feature Comforts model which moves about 3000 CFM of air. I live in a 4000 sq ft home and bought these to flush out the hot air when I get home from work so I can cool the house w/AC faster. I tested the fans by setting them up in the windows on the same wall and stepped back from the windows as far as I could till I could no longer feel the air being moved by each fan.

The Lasko model pushed air about 7ft till I could no longer feel anything. The Feature Comforts model pushed the air 29ft. The Feature Comforts model also had the most uniform airflow w/o any "dead spots" near the center of the airstream.

I would advise anyone to goto your local store and try the same, it costed me less than $70 to try the models I was interested in. The only problem is the hassle of boxing up the ones that didn't perform well and the cost of gas for returning it.

The Feature Comforts model number is 184705 and is an 18" fan. It's amazing that it can push 4x more air than the 20" Lasko model. Unfortunately, it's not on their website but it is available locally for only $24.

Hopefully, Lasko will read this review and improve their fans and have an indepedent lab rate its CFM and put it on the box for educated consumers.

Honest reviews on Lasko 3733 20" Fan Box

The box fan is great and now it is even better after converting it to an air cleaner for $30 instead paying $300.

1. Buy a 20 x 20 x 1 furnace filter like this one: Filtrete 9802DC-6 Micro Allergen Reduction Filters, 1000 MPR, 20 x 20 x 1, 6-Pack.

2. Attach the filter to the back of the box fan using four cable ties.

3. Follow the arrows for air flow direction.

4. The filter cleans your air and prevents dust from sticking to the fan.

5. Remember to replace the filter after a few months.

Enjoy cleaner air!

I've had many "bottom end" Lasko's over the years. All basically the same.. rectangular steel box, 2 braces holding the motor (one end only) and a 5 bladed fan. The box owes its rigidity to the two plastic screen grids screwed to the front and back. All seem to have plastic "feet" to help stabilize it front-to-back so it stands better from the force of air being forced through. They typically are all 3 speed.

Lasko's are mass produced, American-made fans retailed widely at many outlets, at least in the USA.. usually larger chains.. during warm seasons. They normally retail for $15-20 and represent excellent value at that price. If you order by mail and have to pay shipping, much value is lost. (this particular offering sells 3 units so the shipping is shared to bring the per-fan cost to around $25 each.. assuming of course you can use 3 fans)

Over the years, I'd say they average 3-6 years or more of regular use (many thousands of hours) Their mode of failure is usually shaft support failure.... they just get so they won't "go" when powered on. Of the many brand names I see on these box fans, I believe the Lasko is the BEST quality and longest serving.. they are designed and made in the USA.

Good points

*they are cheaper than virtually any other option (except a few other similar clones.. they all are basically identical.. they often are offered as "promo" or "loss leaders" at the "big box stores" for under $20 each)

*barring physical damage they work quite well for many years.

*they CAN move a lot of welcome cooling air!!

*the most reliable of the box-fan suppliers in my experience

Minor "problems" ..

*BIT loud on HIGH (not unreasonably so.. when you move this much air, it makes noise.. the fan itself is quiet)

*plastic blades snaps rather abruptly if a child or whatever sticks something into the blades while its on (at least I've had this happen once.. not sure if all blades are that brittle.. I snapped blades from another unit onto it and it served a long life)

*the design is not "efficient" if you need truly forced air pressure due to lots of "leakage" front to back around hte blades.. Lasko makes a shrouded fan at a higher price which would be much better in that application Lasko 20" Weather-shield W Thermo

* The narrow width make them VERY prone to falling over (even with the plastic "feet" attached).. I don't think I have had a one that hasn't fallen over several times.. luckily they are rarely damaged by this. You should just plan on putting it where you can "lean" one edge of it's intake side against something

I see no mention of power consumption in the product specs, but they seem to use about 90 watts (all of them have power usage tags on them. but you'd have to have the unit to look at it) At average USA power cost (9-15 cents/kwhr) they are cheap to operate.

All in all I RECOMMEND THE UNIT if you can get it for the $15-20 range (watch for sales or "loss leader" values too).

It is worth noting that the above "weather-shield" thermo-controlled unit (which is a considerably better fan in construction, water resistance, and air movement).. the thermo control may be a plus to you, but I just turn it off or on as needed) is a "good value" especially if you're having it shipped as it is only a couple of dollars more than this one (as shipped) and includes free super-saver shipping IF YOU NEED it shipped!

If you plan to use it in areas or where it will be exposed to some water now and then, you probably should go for the above-mentioned "weather shroud" unit Lasko 20" Weather-shield W Thermo... made to sit in a window and survive the occasional rain storm. In that case the thermo control could be more valuable for unattended operation.

We used this trim on top of a GROHE rough-in valve. The trim has an expensive look and has a 100F temperate stop with 110F max temperature setting. But when water drips on the trim from the shower head it does stain the trim with salt. We have to scrub more frequently than I expected.

Also, the installation is not as easy since the instructions are not as clear. So make sure you get a knowledgeable person to help with the installation. GROHE is an excellent company to get customer support. They respond to email requests for information promptly.

I ordered a 50 pint KUL from another store. MY basement had gotten very damp even though we did a have a small air conditioner in place. The KUL works great. Noise level is comfortable. You can talk over the appliance and be heard. It hums instead of hurting your ears. It has made my basement a lot more comfortable than it use to be. It has a nice appearance and the machine is easy to operate. You can use the bucket or use a hose which connects to the back and drains either into a drain, a tub, or a sink.

I have owned this KUL about a week. One day it did overflow but I mopped it up and the basement floor is concrete. I have no idea why it malfunctioned. I will purchase a timer if I can find one with a 3 prong plug and use that on days that I work. The bucket is hard to return to base after empty, but it does have a handle and empties much better than others I have owned. There is a delay of 3 minutes before the unit turns back on after stopping. Sometimes I have to remove the bucket and reinsert it because the full light does not got out. Its a minor problem. Otherwise, I am very happy with the unit so far. Its easy to use has a continuous on with Turbo and dehumidifies like crazy. I know it will add to my electric bill but that is better than having mold in the basement due to the very wet weather here.

I would recommend this machine over a Kenmore or LG.

At first it was great my basement never felt drier. The problem I have a few problems however. The thing that is supposed to detect when it is full broke after 3 months and got my basement floor soaked. I also have to empty this manually 3-4 times a day in the summer. It also upped my electricity bill by $50 a month

I want to try to put a splitter in my washer drain hose so it can just run continuously.

It worked well for about a week and then one of the fans quit. I emailed Lou, the owner, about it and he said mail it back and I'll replace it. Mailed it back and didn't hear back for a couple weeks some emailed again. He said "oh it's on the way." Nothing for about 10 days. I've been emailing every other day for a week now and haven't gotten any response.

The product was well packaged, complete, and came with good instructions. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to install, but I am sure you could do it in half the time with a helper.

Pros:

Easy to install

Kit includes everything you need (except tools of course)

Great value compared to larger vent fans

No cutting through walls

Even included vent block-offs for the winter

Cons:

Amount of air exchanged is limited by the relatively small fans and vents

A bit noisy when in operation (only a con if you are in the garage when they are running)

Conclusion In the end I was torn between 4 or 5 stars. I gave it 5 because even though it won't measure up to a large wall vent system it is much simpler, easier to install, and costs a lot less. It is a great product that does exactly what it claims. It won't magically keep your garage cool when you park a hot car in it on a hot day, but it will dramatically decrease the amount of time it takes to cool back down to ambient temperatures. My garage is now down to "normal" temperatures a few hours after parking. Before it would still be warm when I went out in the morning after sitting all night.

Tips Make sure you pick up a good quality 4 1/2" hole saw for installation, they may be hard to find at the local hardware store. Also get some plastic spray paint to paint the outside covers for a professional looking installation.

Does just what it says. It cools your garage. With careful installation, you should be pleased.

I was somewhat dubious of this product and emailed another reviewer before buying. I'm glad I did. He's a doctor and he reassured me that he liked his, so I went ahead and bought it. Thanks, Doc, although I didn't realize you would bill me just for asking your advice...

Anyway, it does just what it says. It cools your garage.

Prior to the unit being delivered I monitored the temperature in my garage which has a south facing door and a water heater in one corner. Almost always above 95 degrees. After installation...84 degrees.

My overall home cooling bill dropped, I think, because the heat removed from the garage did not transfer up into the "bonus room" above our garage. (next big project is to inspect insulation or lack of between garage ceiling and bonus room floor)

Biggest caution I can urge.....I measured for placement of the vents several times. I even used a similar thickness of wooden block temporarily attached to the door to simulate where I would place my upper vents to make sure nothing would scrape or interfere with the garage door movement. After measuring and cutting the first hole, the vent still scraped against my upper garage door weather strip gasket which I had to pare down to allow unrestricted movement. By this time I HAD to install the vent on the other side of the door the same way to preserve symmetry.

Do what I did, measure, simulate and then move the hole ANOTHER inch inward and downward just to be safe.

Once the first hole is cut, there is no turning back.

Kit seems very small when it arrives, but that is because it is packed so efficiently.

It is simple to install, directions are great. Templates for marking and cutting holes are good, just make sure you are VERY careful of placement like I mentioned earlier.

Fan noise is not bad. Grills on outside of door are a little hard to paint, but are hardly noticed from the street.

I will buy this kit for my next garage when I move to my big house in the country.

Honest reviews on VG200 Vent-a-Garage Air Exchange System for Two Car Garage

Fairly easy to install, involves cutting four holes in your garage door. The retractable AC cord is pretty slick. It's a little noisy and the installation screws are too long for thin doors (poked through mine) but if you need garage ventilation and can't cut through a wall (ours is concrete) this is a neat alternative.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for VG200 Vent-a-Garage Air Exchange System for Two Car Garage

Helped a friend install this in his garage. Came with all of the parts and well packed. The company web site claims that installation time is about an hour. Figure at least 3-4 times that. If you do not have an automatic opener or electric outlet it will take longer. We had the opener installed on the bracket so that did not take much time. Make sure you have the appropriate hole saw and that will probably require a 1/2" drill. That said the only word of caution is to make sure you allow enough room at the top where the exhaust vents are placed so the vents will not hit when open as the garage door is closed. The fans blow the louvers open when running and this requires an additional 11 1/2" clearance then when they are not on.

The company that makes the unit is in Florida and that's where the unit was installed. The system works but offers very little benefit. My friend who was returning to Canada for the summer decided to leave the unit off as there was no benefit he could see. Perhaps the system would offer some small benefit in a different area and when the weather is not too warm or humid. Also, the most this unit could possibly work on is a single car garage.

In Florida the garages do get hot in the summer so having a good fan will make it more comfortable for working. This system won't. In terms of protecting tools and other items the big problem is humidity. This system will do nothing to control that. In fact if you have a dehumidifier it will remove dry air and bring in moist air. In my opinion, if you do not want to go to the expense of Air Conditioning your garage, spend the money that this vent system will cost and install a dehumidifier, which will cost about the same. You can add a fan for additional comfort.

Finally, This is not a commercial system and I question how long the parts will last. While the unit comes with some guards and screens for the vents you will need to install some tighter mesh screens if you want to keep small critters from entering. At least in Florida.

I gave the system two stars because it does work and might be helpfull in small garages and in different areas. However,I have the same garage as we installed the system in, and I would not install the unit in my garage even if it were free.

This remote has been a great upgrade for our fireplace. I think it has been flawless except for the thermostat operation seems to not be so accurate.

We bought our house with a very nice Heat n Glo Grand gas fireplace insert already installed, but it had no switch or remote. We liked the gas insert but it was inconvenient to use with the control panel at the base of the unit. I ordered this remote to mainly use as a wall switch (it has a bracket to hold the remote on the wall). It was very simple to install--just plug the two wires for the transmitter into the two wires at the bottom of the unit. The transmitter tucks right in behind the panel and the remote worked without any tinkering. Now we use our insert all the time. The thermostat feature on the remote works great. Our living room is so inviting and toasty now! We could have bought the same thing from our local dealer but the price was better and Prime delivery made it much more convenient.

Bought 2 of these to control my Heat-N-Glo fireplaces. Installation was a dream. Took five minutes at most. Both work like a charm and have made both of my fireplaces much more usuable. Sorry I hadn't known about these years ago when fireplaces were installed. BTW, had one question for Skytech tech. support. Found them to be very responsive and helpful. A pleasure to deal with.
