I bought this as my first Kegerator, it came fairly quickly "about a week earlier than they had estimated". Setup was fairly simple, but had a few kinks. I had to reseat the tower hosing on the plastic ring it was mounted on as it was crooked, and the tap handle was missing. I was'nt very angry with the missing handle what I did was going to a local store and bought a "Shift Knob" that was really nice for my handle. The system came with the empty tank and the gauges I needed, I had to search alittle for a place that would fill that tank. When I did find a place to fill it it only cost about 15 bucks. so 25 bucks later I had a functioning kegerator. Overall I am very happy, who would'nt when they can have a nice cold draft at home?

I read tons of reviews so knew what I was getting into and had some concerns from other reviews that turned out fine.

Temperature It is true that the kegerator was not getting cold enough but like many reviews mentioned all you have to do is call or email Edgestar and they will send you a pdf explaining how to take the casing of the thermostat and dial it down colder. The first time I went too far and my lines were freezing so i just brought it back a little and perfect.

Assembly When I was done I had a few pieces left. Not sure what they are for. Maybe if you want to convert to just a refrigerator with no tap. Biggest complaint with assembly was the bottom casing of the unit was slightly overlapping the hole that one of the casters screws into. I put a phillips head on there and tapped it with a hammer enough to shift it over. Didn't feel like taking the time to send it back over this and was confident I could remedy it myself but still a little disappointing the products actually go out like that.

Noise At first I didn't notice any noise above the noise any other refrigerator makes. I know notice some louder noise at times when I guess the unit is kicking on hire to maintain the temperature. It doesn't bother me but I wanted to mention it. I am watching TV right next to the thing and the noise really isn't any issue

CO2 The manual recommends up to 12 psi. I found that way too high and was getting wild beer. I start my keg more around 4-5 and then increase if necessary.

Keg sizes I have read a few reviews noting that the unit will not fit a standard size half barrel. I cannot speak to that as I am using only for homebrewing and have corny kegs in mine. I did notice someone say that their corny keg isn't fitting vertically which I was surprised by. Mine fit fine. I am wondering if it has something to do with the tap. I just have the gas line in and beer line out attachments on mine.

That's all the specific things I wanted to address and have seen in other reviews. I have had the unit for about 4 months now and am very happy so far. I knew getting into it I wasn't going to be using half barrels so had no concern about that and was confident I could get the unit colder which was no problem with the pdf Edgestar emailed me. I love being able to get cold draft beer at home and it saves me a ton of time from bottling all of my homebrew. Just remember to clean your lines regularly. I think this is a great value at the price it's listed. You can pay more and not have to deal with a few hiccups but I was glad to save some money.

Easy set up. You will have to buy a european sanky (tap) is you want to buy some european kegs, but other than that, it is great. It comes with an empty aluminum tank for the CO2. A lot of places will exchange the tank instead of filling it. Make sure they exchange it with another aluminum tank. Steel tanks can give off a rusty taste.

This unit would not get cold. I sent them an e-mail through their website and they sent me instructions on adjusting the thermostat. Still not cold, in fact 20 degrees hotter. Went from 55dF to 75dF. Called them, they said I had ruined the thermostat and charged me $58 for a new one, plus $9 shipping, though their website, livingdirect.com had the same replacement thermostat for the same price with free shipping.Thermostat arrived, no instruction for installing. Involves taking the panel off back interior of unit and removing a probe from clips in the panel. then removing about 20" of a plastic sleeve from a flexible copper probe, reinstalling the same plastic sleeve on the new probe (VERY DIFFICULT), then reclipping the probe end to the clips and reinstalling the back interior panel. Then plugging in the wires. I called them and asked for instructions. Tech guy said he didn't have any instructions. I then asked why I was charged for a new thermostat for a unit under warranty. He said he would send me the return shipping labels to return the unit, I had to have original packaging or double box the unit in packaging I provided. He also said he didn't think I was capable of installing the thermostat. Online search reveals boxes to ship the unit back cost $60. I wasn't willing to spend that, so I installed the new thermostat. Still not cold (75dF). Then I called an appliance repairman who said the heat exchanger had a restriction in it and was defective, and it would cost more than the unit was worth to repair it. I advised EdgeStar about the cost of the shipping boxes and the diagnosis and they still refused to help.

We recently purchased the EdgeStar full size kegerator. Once assembled, we plugged it in and it would not cool down. We tried letting it sit for a few hours and then tried again to no avail. The compressor will kick on but there is no cool air circulating and the 1/4 keg we purchased is now becoming skunk. We called the company for help and they were the rudest, most unhelpful customer service people that we have ever dealt with. They do not have any servicing options available and we ( the customer) are required to ship it back at OUR cost in the ORIGINAL BOX and if there is any damage made while in transit back we're responsible for that also. The two people that we spoke with at EdgeStar were surly, disrespectful, and wanted to get us off the phone rather than do their job and help us. They claimed that they couldn't find our file or our purchase history when we became annoyed, they finally "found" our order. We DO NOT recommend doing any business with these people.

Their "helpline" is 866-319-5463. If you wanted an idea of their customer service before you purchase this item we encourage you to call and experience it for yourself. The only thing that we can be certain of is frustration.

I have had problems with products that show unreliable humidity indication in the past, but I wanted something to know how dry (or moist) the air in my Alaska home was getting. We have issues with frost/ice on inside of windows when it gets cold outside, but if it gets too dry, my son and I get bloody noses.

My home weather station is made by La Crosse, and I have been amazed at how well it works (even in cold conditions) and how long the AA batteries last (over a year, even outside in the cold).

It seemed like a natural pick to use this company again.

I bought two of these and immediately placed them side by side to see how different they would be. After they had 10+ minutes to stabilize, they were reading practically the same. I now have them in two different spots in my house and they give me a good sense of how humid the air is.

This device is working properly. It is a great device for someone like me, who has musical instruments at home and fragile wood furniture. It shows humidity and temperature. It is almost accurate, by what I mean is that it shows about 1-2 degrees different from my other termometer in the room as well as it shows about 4% higher humidity than my other device, but that can only mean that the other device might be wrong by two degrees and not this one. Who knows. I think two degrees or 4% humidity is not a big difference (even in the manual they have said that it is approximate by 4 degrees). I think it is great product and works fine. It will definitely help me a lot with maintenance of the wooden objects in my home.

p.s. I'd recommend getting this rather than one of the analog hygrometers. I got one of those as well and it was completely wrong, by more than %20 all the time!!!!!

Big letters, right temperature, at least decent battery life. My only problem is that my wife keeps moving it around and then I have to track it down again. It clearly shows that the thermostat in the living room does NOT accurately tell me whether my computer desk, bathroom, and bedroom are a decent temperature the living room is by far the warmest place in the house.

[edit, 6/15/12 still working fine. What's the deal with a negative feedback? Don't tell me companies are dinging favorable reviews of competing products there's nothing objectionable is my simple expressed opinion from actually buying and using this product.]

I bought the La Crosse Technology Indoor Digital Thermometer and Hygrometer, the Acu-Rite Indoor Humidity Monitor, and the Springfield 9.125" Vertical Thermometer and Hygrometer. All are standing together on my desk this moment. The La Crosse shows 76.3 F, the Acu-Rite shows 77 F, the Springfield a little over 76 F. This confirms several weeks of experience with these items, that they show similar or identical temperatures, which gives me some confidence in their accuracy.

The humidity reading on the Lacrosse is 27%, on the Acu-Rite 22%, and on the Springfield about 37%. This is also in keeping with past experience, with the La Crosse and Acu-rite staying in the 20s and the Springfield near 40%.

I give the La Crosse four stars because the temperature is easy to read. I give Acu-Rite three stars because the humidity, which I do not trust, is displayed larger than the temperature, and the screen is generally cluttered. However, it does show low and high temperatures and humidity over a 24-hour period, so those who find this information interesting would rate it higher. I also give the Springfield three stars -the humidity is unreliable and the temperature is a bit hard to read, but it does display as reliable a temperature as the other two for a very low price.

Bought this fireplace for a newly remodeled area of our living room in October. We heat with an oil furnace and wanted to supplement to save money this Winter. We have not had a cold Winter in New England so far, but it has been cold enough to determine that I rarely hear the furnace turn on. I keep it on low and it heats up our living room area very quickly(about 650 sf) and a lot of heat goes upstairs too. Running our ceiling fans helps to circulate the warm air. We have run this unit everyday in the morning when I get up and all evening when I get home from work. My gas bill has increased 10 dollars a month. I can only imagine how much oil we have saved using this fireplace. The cabinet looks like a well made piece of furniture and it adds a lot to my home. My two cats take turns sleeping on top of it. There is a little smell to it when it is operating, but not any worse than when my gas oven is on in the kitchen. Very cozy watching the flames and feeling the warmth.

I would have given it 5 stars but I have to say that the controls are not that easy to operate as you have to get down on the floor and use two hands to turn it on and off. A remote would have been nice. Another thing is that it should come with the heater fan already installed not as an add on for another 100 dollars. Heat rises and there really isn't any way to disperse the heat efficiently without using a fan. Also, I had to have my plumber run the gas line, which cost another 200 dollars, but he was nice enough to put the whole thing together for me and helped figure out how to run it. We both had to read through the instructions several times to figure it out.

All in all, I would recommend this product. We have really enjoyed the ambiance it creates and the savings it has already provided.

The only problem with this product is the control knob for setting the heat. It's crude and has numbers on it. I have been trying for a month to get it where it is comfortable.

This small fireplace produces a lot of heat. Some states have rules for ventless fireplaces and you may have have trouble getting it installed.

The thermostat just has a few settings and is crude. It may take awhile to get a comfortable setting.

We purchased this product for our Florida room. It has turned a room that was unusable in the winter into a favorite winter retreat! It looks beautiful! The wood is real, not laminate. The fire is relaxing. We all clamor to be the one to get to sit closest to it!

Pro's out weigh the Con's

We used the corner conversion, which is just a triangle of wood, two support bars, and a wall mounted bracket. It was easy to do and looks natural. I was concerned about how much weight it could handle, but it seems to be able to support ample amount.

The thermostat is a little touchy. At first we thought it controlled the flame size, and to some degree it does. Setting one is low flame, setting two is medium flame, and setting 3 is high flame. Setting 4-6 is the same as three. But what we realized is that it is actually controlling the thermostat. The flame will shut off once it reaches a certain temperature. However, this was one thing we changed. The thermostat is located at the bottom back of the fireplace, which does not make it very accurate. I would suggest moving it higher, if your fireplace never seems to turn off or over heats the room.

As with any vent-free fireplace, it makes water. You will get condensation on any cold surfaces (like windows). The benefit to this is the house is somewhat humidified. The bad news is you will have to wipe down your windows & window sills. We actually really enjoy the moisture in the air.

This unit does not come with a blower. We have found it doesn't need one. We leave our ceiling fan (blowing up instead of down) on low. This is all it needs to evenly heat the room. Without the fan, the room heated fine. It just took a little longer for it to warm it all up.

This product does hook up to natural gas, so you will need to purchase any of the pipe that would connect your natural gas to the fireplace. And have the skill to connect the new pipe to an existing line. Also, as with any natural gas fires, it will have a bluish hue to the flame at the bottom and an orange hue to the flame at the top. We think that is still far prettier then no flame at all!

I use an electric heater in the office, that I built in my garage. I have been running this with an electronic wall thermostat that holds the temperature within 1 degree most of the time.

In the summer I have a room air conditioner that has always held an uneven temperature so I thought I would try this wall thermostat for both heat and AC. It works well with temperature held within a narrow range. It is not as constant as the electronic thermostat was in winter, but it is good I'll see this winter how it actually compares to the electronic thermostat for heating.

I was looking for a double burner with the same wattage on both burners. This one really did not specify in the description that the one side was a warmer rather than a burner and it simply did not get hot enough. Returned it because it was also scratched and dented when I received it with no problems from the seller. I ended up buying a more expensive commercial unit that has two 900 watt burners and that was what I really needed.
