Very simple. It seems that unless a thermostat is internet-enabled, most people never use the programming features of modern thermostats. This one avoids the unnecessary complexity, allowing even old people to use it.

It also independently remembers both the heater temp and the a/c temp, making it easy to switch between the two systems without resetting each value. This is a great replacement to an old dial/lever thermostat -digital displays offer precision to 1 degree thus eliminating the fiddling required to get just the right temperature, as with old systems.

The installation guide is straight-forward and took about 15 minutes.

I wanted a simple non-programmable digital thermostat, but prefer the manual function selector switches. This model had all the features I was looking for. It was easy to install and connect to our existing 4-wire heat/cool thermostat wiring. Ideal replacement for the familiar old style round thermostats! A simple press of either push button turns on the backlight display. Press the push button again to lower or raise the temperature. Maintains a very constant temperature! Very pleased with this purchase.

If you want a very good manual thermostat, this one is hard to beat. I have seen this thermostat for $30 more at Lowes. Having all of the switches in direct view is very good to keep the settings in mind. I have no regular schedule so using a programmable thermostat was not what I wanted. Having both the set point and room temperature visible at one time is a big improvement over the previous thermostat I used. Having both temperatures visible makes the thermostat easier to use. The backlit display allows this to be used even in the dark. Nice.

No issues with the product. Had to pick up two of the oversized wall plates to make it look good. I suggest that you buy them when you buy the thermostat. Home depot does not sell them.

This is a great little thermostat. No frills with a simple 5/2 (weekdays/weekends) program and 4 events (wake / leave / return / sleep) per day. So as long as you have a regular monday-friday schedule and don't need a unique program for each day, this will work great. It's very easy to do temporary overrides or even sustained ones with the "hold" feature. The display is backlit, so there's no need to turn on the lights if you wake up in the middle of the night and it's a little warm (or cold).

It also has a nice "compressor protection" feature which prevents the A/C from turning on too soon after the end of a cycle and overheating the motor or freezing the coils. So if the air just finished a cycle and you want it to get colder, you will will have to wait a few minutes, but it could save you an expensive service call, especially if you have older relatives in the house who are never comfortable no matter what the temperature is.

A big attraction for me was the vertical orientation of the unit. It's very hard to find a decent programmable thermostat that is vertical. Well I wanted to cover the hole in my wall without getting a giant eyesore or turning a regular one sideways, so I didn't have a lot of options. I previously had the RiteTemp touchscreen unit from Home Depot, but the touchscreen died, which rendered it useless for anything other than what was already programmed into it.

This little guy is cheaper than almost anything else, is uniquely vertical, and works great. For the money, it pays for itself in a month or two, so give it a try.

This is an awesome thermostat. It's the only vertical 5/2 day programmable one I could find, so points for that. Then, it does 4 temperature changes a day: wake, leave, return, and sleep. Don't think I could need anything more! And, on top of all of that, it has "Adaptive Intelligent Recovery" meaning you set it for the time you want it to be that temperature and it automatically figures out how soon to start heating up/cooling down. Simply amazing at the ~$30 price I paid!

This thermostat worked just right as a replacement for an old Honeywell unit with a similar footprint. The older mercury switch thermostat was analog without backlighting, and accuracy left something to be desired.

This was easy to install with just some minor paint touch-up required around the thermostat. The wall hole placement for the wiring behind the old thermostat had to be slightly enlarged (downward) to accomodate this new back plate, but other than that, it was just a matter of figuring out exactly how to feed/connect the wiring to the new terminals. The thermostat worked perfectly as a replacement, and was very easy to program.

Honest reviews on Honeywell TH2110D1009 Pro 2000 Single Stage 1-Heat/Cool Thermostat

I got this on October 15th and installed it that same day (which happened to be the very start of my heating bill cycle). It took me about 15 minutes to install it from start to finish, and I've never installed one of these before I am a little handy but no pro to be sure.

I set it up so that the temperature is 68 during times when we are usually at home and 60 overnight and when I'm at work and my son is at school. If I happen to be home during one of those times (or up late), all I have to do is hit the up button to the temperature I want and it will keep it that way until the next cycle starts where it would lower it then it goes back onto the regular schedule. This is such a nice feature!!!

I live in Pittsburgh, PA, where it can get pretty cold in the winter. While it hasn't been a crazy winter it has been below freezing most of the days since this was installed. There was also a lot of snow on the ground and on the house during most this time.

Without getting into extreme detail, I figured out from temperature ranges over the course of a month (yes, I keep track of this stuff over the course of 5 years) that my last 3 bills should have been as follows:

1) October 15 to November 15th should have been around $120. Instead it was $75. That's $45 savings due solely to a unit that cost me around $33.

2) November 15 to December 15, my bill should have been around $150. Instead my bill was $98. Another $52 saved.

3) December 15 to January 15, my bill should have been $180. It's $118. That's another $62.

Totaled up, over 3 months, I've saved $159. Sure, my numbers could be off a little bit, but let's say I'm off 25%. That's still way over $100 saved in 3 months.

My only problem with this unit is that it didn't come to my house and hit me on the head many years ago, forcing me to install it. This is the best investment in the house I've made in a very long time. If you have an old style thermostat, replace it with one of these (or at least another kind that you can program) you won't regret it!

This thermostat seemed fine when I bought it last spring. I've had good luck with Honeywell thermostats, and I needed a programmable thermostat in a vertical configuration to fit a narrow space on the wall. However, early in this year's heating season my TH2110D ran amok. It started regularly overrunning the specified temperature, and within three days was heating my weatherized porch at 76 degrees instead of the set point of 68 degrees. So much for energy savings!

I checked all the settings and they were still correct for my hot water gas-fired heating system. I replaced this thermostat with an older unit that I still had and the old unit worked fine. Since I am not a professional heating contractor, Honeywell does not honor their warranty. Since I'm way past Amazon's return period, I have no recourse. Buyer beware!

Pros:

Slim vertical design, adaptive intelligent recovery feature, backlit display, 5-2 day programming

Cons:

Not reliable and no warranty for non-professional owners.

I feel confident in saying this Nesco Gardenmaster is a better quality product than the Excalibur 9 tray, both of which I have used. I first tried the Excalibur and quickly realized it took too long and was too cumbersome to be effective and needed a new thermostat after just three weeks. I found myself babysitting the unit, switching trays and drying only during the day when I could turn it off manually. The 9 tray I had did not have an automatic timer and was just a pain in the neck. I sold it on Ebay after two months. I ventured out into the world of dehydrating again after two long years of resentment. I tried the Nesco and was so happy I did. The digital controls offer exact results every time, the automatic shut-off allow you to dry at night without waking to adjust trays or check results.

The capacity is huge with the add on trays offered and the powerful fan dries the bottom tray equally as fast as the top. The top mounted motor keeps drips from causing a clean-up nightmare and the quality of food is excellent. I've dried fruits, vegetables, made pounds and pounds of jerkey and have experimented with some raw food "baking" which all turned out perfect.

I love the Nesco Gardenmaster and suggest you seriously consider it whether a novice or pro. If you are considering an Excalibur, I highly recommend the Nesco as I found it performed substantially better than the Ex,has design features to make your drying easy and fun, and costs about $50.00 less.

I bought 2 Nesco American Harvest Food Dehydrators in 1974. One for me and one for my grandmother. They were used extensively for drying fruits and vegetables as well as making jerky. After 24 years, the plastic became brittle so I thought it was time to replace them. Because the original dryers worked so well for so long, I immediately looked for the same brand. I bought the Gardenmaster plus 6 extra trays because it is the largest model and I dry large quantities. Within the past 2 weeks how long I've had my new dryer I have dried about 8 bushels of apples. Since the tree is still full, I will probably dry that many more before moving into jerky season.

The only complaints I have seen on this dryer have related to concerns regarding "recipies" not listing exact drying times. As an experienced food dryer, I can tell you this is the same no matter which dryer you use. I would be concerned about any dehydrator that stated otherwise drying time depends on the moisture in the item your drying, humidity in the room where you have your dryer, and the amount of food placed on trays to dry. The apples I'm drying right now are VERY juicy so it is taking about 18 hours to dry 10 trays of them to perfection. After you have dried food for a while, you will be able to guess about how long it will take to dry a pariculy batch of food.

Best Deals on Nesco American Harvest FD-1020 Gardenmaster 1000-Watt Digital Food

This is a high quality food dehydrator that is simple to use because of the digital control and the top heater and fan. I wouldn't even consider a food dehydrator that does not have the top heater/fan. This one does not need to have the trays rotated during use and also heats to the recommended 160*.

I have had my Nesco American Harvest FD-1020 for a year and have used it so far only to make ground beef jerky, but I've given it extensive use for that. I cook the meat at the 160* setting for approximately 6 1/2 hours, but the amount of time varies by the ambient humidity. I set it outdoors to use and when in southern Arizona, if the meat slices are thin, 6 hours was sufficient. In Texas, I have needed to leave the meat cooking for 7 hours. I don't care for the smell of the cooking meat, necessitating the outdoor use.

For ease of cleaning, I recommend purchasing the clean-a-screen mesh sheets for each tray, Nesco American Harvest MS-2-6 Clean-A-Screen Plastic-Mesh Dehydrator Screens, Set of 2. Also, buy at least one additional set of trays, Nesco American Harvest Add-A-Tray for FD-1000, Set of 2. Buy a set of the mesh screens for each set of trays. Only a single mesh screen comes with the dehydrator. Do be careful to order the correct trays and screens for the specific model of Nesco deyhdrator.

I'm the type who wants detailed instructions, and the included instructions are poor. I finally had to dive in and give it a try when I didn't know exactly what to do. After experimentation, for the ground beef jerky, I use one packet of the Nesco Jerky Spice Works, hot and spicy flavor, plus a teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper to 1 1/2 pounds of 96% lean ground beef. It is easy to make the jerky strips using the Nesco BJX-5 American Harvest Jumbo Jerky Works Kit. For 6 lbs of meat, I needed 8 trays, and they were totally filled. Perhaps it would be better not to crowd the slices, but mine has worked OK and I want to make lots of jerky when I'm going through the trouble of making it. I store the jerky is an airtight container in the fridge or in sealed bags in the freezer.

Honest reviews on Nesco American Harvest FD-1020 Gardenmaster 1000-Watt Digital Food

This is truly a set it and forget it machine. Since receiving the 1020 I have put it through many hours of dehydrating. It is quiet, Which makes placing it your choice and not determined by the noise level. I am very pleased that I chose a top heater and blower. I never have to worry about particles or drippings getting into the fan or heater. It has fulfilled my expectations and for me worthy of 5 stars.

The first summer after moving into our new home, the husband and I found ourselves buried under a deluge of fresh produce. Some of it, such as the watermelons, cantaloupes, green and yellow zucchini, jalapenos, green and yellow peppers, and tomatoes (oh, the tomatoes!: Roma, Beefsteak, cherry and grape) came as no surprise, since they were planned, planted and grown in our very own garden. Most of the fruit, on the other hand, was wholly unexpected; when we purchased the house the previous spring, we had no idea that many of the trees in our front yard were of the fruit-bearing variety. The apricots, pears and apples (120 grocery bags full, for reals!), then, came as a shock. A happy shock, but a shock nonetheless.

With the threat of an overabundance of fruit and veggies looming, I hurriedly began researching methods of preserving the extras for winter. Canning struck me as intriguing, if a bit risky for a newbie like myself. Freezing, while quick and easy, brings with it the obvious space and energy limitations. Eventually, I decided that dehydrating the excess food was my best option: safe, uncomplicated and requiring the minimal upfront investment.

Enter: the Nesco American Harvest Gardenmaster FD-1020 Digital Pro Food Dehydrator. After quite a bit of online window-shopping, I finally opted for this make and model. A mid-range dehydrator, the Gardenmaster FD-1020 is one of the pricier models offered by Nesco, and yet it's still less expensive than those made by Excalibur (which, if the Amazon listings are any indication, is the Lexus of food dehydrators). All things considered e.g., price, customer reviews, expandability, accessories the Gardenmaster FD-1020 struck me as the wisest choice: suitable for my needs, without going over the top.

This is my third year with the Gardenmaster; in this time, I've used it to dry a variety of fruits and veggies, including tomatoes, sweet potatoes (for the dogs, natch!), all manner of jalapenos and peppers, apples, and even watermelon (looks like HuFu, yo!). My favorite use by far has been fruit leather (yum!).

Construction: Solid. The top of the machine (its "lid," you might say), which houses the heating unit and fan, is substantial but not heavy. The plastic trays are lightweight but durable; supposedly they're dishwasher-safe (ditto: the plastic base), though I haven't yet tested this. The Fruit Roll-Up Trays and Mesh Screen are (obviously) flimsier since they're designed for use in concert with the trays but have held up well.

Durability: Good I haven't had any issues in the two years I've owned it.

Ease of use and care: With its LCD display and simple design, the Gardenmaster is quite easy to use: push one button to change the LCD display from time to temperature and back again, one of two arrows to set each up/down, and a start/stop to start and stop the drying. (As long as the machine remains plugged in, the digital screen stays on.) Recommended temperatures for fruits, veggies and jerky (here defined as "dried TOFU") are posted on the top of the machine, which can run between 90 and 160 degrees F. Does it get any easier than this?

Clean-up is a bit trickier. Because the machine is so large circular in shape, it measures 15' across I have to clean the trays, accessories and base in a bathtub. (For serious, they don't fit in my kitchen sink!) The Fruit Roll-Up sheets and machine base are rather easy to clean just wash with a bit of detergent and a soft sponge but the trays, what with their closely positioned spokes, require some elbow grease and extra diligence. Air drying is the only way to dry them completely, and can take quite a bit of time and even more space.

Finally, because the machine is so large, it probably isn't the best choice for those with limited storage space. The Excalibur models seem more compact, at least judging from the photos available on Amazon.

Extras: When I purchased the Gardenmaster FD-1020, it came with two Fruit Roll-Up Sheets, as well as one Plastic Mesh Screen for drying herbs and other items too small to rest on the trays. If you're a fruit leather person and/or grow your own herbs, neither will be sufficient. Luckily, add-ons are available: extra trays, Fruit Roll-Up Sheets and Mesh Screens are all sold separately, and for a reasonable price.

I also received a recipe book and jerky spice packet, both of which have sat, untouched, at the bottom of a miscellaneous kitchen drawer since their arrival. (Beef jerky, yuck.)

Value: Not bad. Even at retail price, I think I've more than made my money back in the amount of food I've managed to save through dehydration (the value of my time excluded). Possibly I might have done just as well with a lower-end model, though the lackluster reviews scared me away from those in the < $100 range.

Overall: I'd recommend it!

...Though newbies on a budget might get just as much use of out a slightly less expensive model. Just sayin'.

I have used this station for the past few weeks and I cannot be more happy with it. Received this iron from sra solder and it came very quickly and packaged extremely well. I have been soldering for a few years and through the years I have used all types of different irons at price ranges from a very low entry level iron to very expensive irons. This iron is definitely up there with the best of them, even the irons that where 2 to 3 times more expensive.

The main unit itself is built very well, it feels strong and looks very nice. I love the layout on it, it features 3 buttons on the front an increase, decrease, and menu button, along with the power switch. This may be a small thing but i love how the power switch is located right in the front. My main irons switch is in the back and it is actually an inconvenience. The iron can be taken off and on via a plug in port in the front as well. The machine has a red led display to help with browsing the menu, show current temps, and to show the temp while heating up.

The iron is very comfortable to hold, it has a rubber covering where you hold it making it comfortable to hold even for longer uses. It comes with 10 different tips which is amazing considering that replacement tips can add up, and they come in a variety of sizes for various jobs. Replacing the tips is a breeze not requiring any additional tools. The holder it comes with is also great, it comes with a tray and sponge to clean off the tip, as well as holder on the side for various solder wheels\sizes.

This iron is a great choice for experienced and beginners looking to replace or purchase a new soldering iron. I promise you will not regret purchasing this iron. For the price you are paying and what you get it is incredible!!

I purchased this unit to replace the capacitors on the circuit board of my double oven. Like others, my soldering experience began with a simple pencil several years ago and included the massive dual-temperature Weller gun. None of these gave very satisfactory results, but they did get the job done.

For this project, I decided to get better equipment. Equipment starting with a decent soldering system. I reviewed all the options and it became very clear that I could never justify the cost of a Hakko or Weller professional system. I just do not solder that many things. For reference, I still have much of a 1lb. roll of 0.031 Kester solder that I originally purchased in 2001! This unit by Aoyue seemed to be the best combination of features, price, and reliability.

I ordered this system from Amazon/SRA and all I can say is that if you have not ordered from them before, you should do so soon just so that you can see what great service looks like. Well packed. Immediate shipment. Constant communications. Unbelievable. I have ordered several additional items since from SRA and the experience has been similarly exceptional.

The unit itself is impressive. Tremendous control of the the temperature, F and C. Special features like snooze, and a vibrating handle. Extra tips and heating element. Heavy duty spool and tool holder. Sustantial power cord. The only negative is the user manual, which while not bad, it not at the same quality level as the rest of the unit. To be fair however, it is a soldering system. How many instructions do you really need?

When I began to use it, it heated up quickly, but didn't quite melt the old solder sufficiently to wick it away quickly. I adjusted the temperature slightly and 5 seconds later the tip was hot enough to work perfectly. Total project took me less than 10 minutes. With a more traditional system, I would have been constantly waiting for the iron to recover temperature and the joints would not have been nearly as consistent.

Everyone has their own needs and budget, but my days of buying cheap tools are over. If you need to do any amount of soldering, you should buy this unit and you should buy it from SRA. You will not be dissapointed. At the price, it is an absolute steal.

Highly recommended.

NEVER will I use a basic, one temp corded soldering wand again. This programmable soldering STATION is just packed with features. Basic front panel controls, easy to understand manual, 10 (YES TEN) soldering tips included and built to last. This unit is sturdy, looks great and talk about FAST. I went from 0 to 400 in 13 seconds -a Lamborghini doesn't go that fast. Not only that, but the ability to set temps for certain solders and switch by simple button press awesome. My joints have never looked so sweet ever. My boards look like they rolled off the Samsung production line. At this price, and with this many features you would be crazy not to snap one of these up and add it to your workbench. The wand and solder holder is even built to last. Ok, I've talked enough I've got some soldering to do.

Honest reviews on Aoyue 9378 60 Watt Programmable Digital Soldering Station - ESD

Just got this and here's my first impressions. The soldering station itself appears to be well built, weighing a hefty 2.5 pounds. It comes with a metal soldering iron stand model 2660, but the 2660B would have been better since that one includes a tip storage attachment which would have been handy to hold the extra tips that come with the unit. The tips include a T-B tip already mounted, another T-B, T-LB, T-0.5C, T-0.8C, T-1C, T-0.8D, T-1.2D, T-1.6D, and T-2.4D. The widest tip, the T-2.4D, is only 2.4 mm wide so you may need something bigger for jobs other than electronics. The iron heats up and cools down fast and the instructions are pretty straight forward, but they don't say how to change the tip. It seems you just unscrew the knurled nut at the base of the iron and lift the sleeve off. The tip then slides off the ceramic heating rod. An extra heating rod is included if you need to replace it. Happy soldering.

I have a very old Weller gun and a new Weller pen with a chord type. I finally got sick of fighting them both, browsed the net and found the Aoyue. It is new so very little info but it looked pretty nice so I decided to roll the dice. WOW! I like when things work out. I have had it about a month now and have done a good bit of work with it. All went very smooth and with excellent results. The tips that come with the machine are simply amazing compared to anything I have ever used. I have no way of testing the temperature but it appears to be working as advertised. I also bought soldering nippers, automatic wire strippers, multi-core rosin 60/40 .025" solder and a bottle of liquid rosin. Jobs I used to fight and spend lots of time on, take seconds and are perfect now. I actually look forward to soldering. Immagine that?

I bought this thermostat when my kids were still infants. I needed it because they would take naps during the day and they perspire a lot while sleeping. So I bought this thermostat so that the AC would turn on during their nap time and when it is hottest during the day.

I bought it because I've read reviews from other sites and how people said it was easy to install. I was a little apprehensive because I've never really installed anything like this, but the instructions were easy to read and understand and Honeywell have great customer service! I called customer service because I had one wire in the wall that wasn't the same color as the manual has decribed, but the Honeywell customer rep was able to help me figure it out. I had it installed in about 10 minutes and my AC was working as planned.

There's a backup battery you have to put in and it still works after 2 years. Other people have complained that the back-lit green light go off too soon, around five seconds after your last tap on the touchscreen, but it doesn't really bother me unless you need to change schedule in complete darkness.

I'd been contemplating a new thermostat for a while, wanted one that would let me set a schedule so I could have it warm up a little in the morning, cool down automatically at night, so if I was coming home late things would still be comfortable.

When I saw this on a lightning deal, I decided to go for it, and I'd overcome my fears of installing it once it showed up.

Got it this morning, decided I had time before going to work, so I opened it up and started.

SUPER easy installation, at least for my setup (4 wires, they were labeled correctly on the old thermostat, so that helped)

Took maybe 10 minutes, 5 of that was because the wires were stiff trying to get them into the small holes and tighten them down. Once it was installed, turned the furnace back on, got to work programming (somewhat)

There is a bit of a learning curve to this, I'll try to update my review once I'm more familiar, but so far it works like a champ. Love the touchscreen on it, its a good size too.

Took a few minutes to get a basic schedule in the system, then get it going starting to cool down the house. Overall, I'm very happy.

Yes, I'm aware this review has a cheesy title, I couldn't think up anything else to put for a title.

Best Deals on Honeywell RTC8102A1016 5-1-1-Day Programmable Thermostat w/Backlit

I bought this to replace my non-touch screen Honeywell that was only programmable for the week days and weekends. All week days were lumped together and the weekend was lumped together. I wanted to have a little more flexibility.

Installing was not too difficult, took me about 15-20 minutes to take down the old and put up the new.

The touch screen part is only limited to the locations on the screen where there are indicators like the up down arrows and the options at the bottom.

When programming you have the option to select multiple days at a time so if you have the same schedule like mon thurs or something you can program them all at once. Saves some time in having to do each day separately.

I found out by the model number that this model is somehow related to Costco. This was a black Friday deal through Amazon, so I got for a good price.

So far, it has been working great.

Honest reviews on Honeywell RTC8102A1016 5-1-1-Day Programmable Thermostat w/Backlit

I got this on a Gold Box deal and now wish I had bought another for my upstairs unit. It was very easy, however you need a small flat blade screw driver. The package includes detailed instructions, code stickers for the wiring, and a clear users guide. It does require 2 "AA" batteries. This thermostat replaces a less expensive Honeywell that never really kept an accurate temperature. The programming is simple, just follow the instructions. If there was one thing I would add to this thermostat it would be a way to copy programs to other days. It isn't hard to program, just redundent.

It's ALL about the DISPLAY!!

Let's get this out of the way first, this thermostat isn't about revolutionary features; it's all about the size of the display.

My old Ritetemp model 8022C (no longer manufactured) is well over a decade old and it still had all of the features of the new Honeywell including four settings per day, seven day programs, and even a filter change reminder. And the Ritetemp worked well too ... even after a dozen years of service. But over the years the display has gotten smaller and smaller (or perhaps my eyes have gotten a bit worse) either way, I had a tough time reading the 0.5" x 1.5" display unless I was right up on it (and maybe with a flashlight).

So my search was for a larger and easier read display.

The RTC8101A (formerly RTH7600D)really fit the bill. The whole front of the thermostat is one big display. It almost looks like a GPS mounted on the wall ... touch screen and all. The unit constantly displays current temperature, set temperature, day, time, heat/cool, and fan setting. Just touch the display to backlight it. Believe it or not, I can actually read it from my chair!

Installation was a cinch ... complete with a quick start guide. And the wire connections were easy. My old Ritetemp required wrapping each wire around the appropriate (incredibly small) screw and then tightening, a tedious process that required some dexterity with small screws. The new Honeywell has pinch connectors which only required inserting a straight stripped wire end into the hole and tightening the screw. Far Far easier. The installation took fifteen minutes from package opening to programming. Don't forget that you will need two AA batteries and a small flathead screwdriver.

So will this thermostat change your life? Well ... if you already have a working auto setback thermostat, then you likely won't see any unexpected features here. If you don't already have an auto setback thermostat then, welcome to the 21st century.

But the display ... THE DISPLAY ... It's really worth the price of admission (and five stars).

Useful stuff first: You will also need to buy a Hansgrohe iBox

Make sure you (or your installer) read the installation guide thoroughly before installing. My installer didn't and I had to go back and "fix" it, I'll explain later.

This shower control is very well made... most things are heavy gauge metal but operates smoothly. I agree that cheaping out on the cover plate with plastic is poor form. Mine has a small scratch already within 1 week. But the look of this is just plain awesome, very modern and shiny chrome baby!

Why spend extra money for thermostatic? Well, you or your kids won't get burned, that's why... I bought this for our kids' bath and love it.

The top dial goes left (10 o'clock position) or right (2 o'clock position) for tub / shower. Mine is left for tub and right for shower. But I think you can change it depending on the way your iBox connects to shower / tub. The bottom dial controls the temperature. Counterclock-wise for cold water, clock-wise for hot water. There is a small button on the left side of dial where you can push and turn the dial to hotter temperature beyond "thermostatic" setting.

My problem: My installer didn't pay attention to the temperature setting... Even at the hottest setting, we were only getting warm water at best. I opened up the bottom dial and adjusted it according to installation manual and then it worked like a charm. To adjust it, read the installation instructions or follow my less technical directions below:

1. Turn the bottom dial so that the hand points down at 6 o'clock position.

2. On the right side of the dial, there's a small access hole for an allen wrench. Turn the allen wrench counterclock-wise to loosen the dial. If your installer put a little rubber stopper in there, just push it in all the way and you can retrieve it later when the dial is off.

3. Once opened, there's a gold knob looking dial (it's the thing that sticks out). Find it.

4. Turn the top dial to tub or shower so you get water.

5. Turn the gold knob clock-wise or counterclock-wise to adjust the water temperature. The instruction says 100 degrees, I believe. I just turned it to the maximum temperature that I think my kids should shower at.

6. Turn the top dial to 12 o'clock to shut off the water.

7. Put back the bottom dial (pointing at 6 o'clock) via allen wrench.

8. Test it to make sure that it works.

The 6 o'clock position should be the hottest that you want the water to be... then push the little button the left and turn the bottom dial to 4 o'clock position, this should make the water even hotter... My wife showers at the 4 o'clock position but I think normal people will probably burn at this temperature, so I sent it at 6 o'clock for my kids.

Overall, I think this is a great product... well made with German engineering... but if they had included a metal coverplate (or will ship me one for free), I'll change it to 5 stars.

Escutcheon (chrome cover plate) is made of PLASTIC!!! Yes, I said PLASTIC! For the hefty price tag, it should be made of real chrome-plated metal. Shame on Hansgrohe. I was under the impression they made top-notch stuff. For whatever reason they decided to skimp on this item.

along with the iBox this thing seems to work great. The only problem i had was the need to have a friction ring shipped to me that is installed on the temperature control stem, along with the chrome base to the temp handle. What happens is the weight of the temp handle can be so great that it wants to return to the vertical position, so if you want a bit of cold the handle will slowly sayno you want hot, friction ring solved this 100%, customer service was extremely helpful solving this problem. 10/10 would buy again

Honest reviews on Hansgrohe 04231000 S Thermostatic Trim With Volume Control

Goes very will with all of our other Hansgrohe products. Love the fact that you can set the bottom dial to the temperature and then the small dial at the top turns on the shower, so once you have the temperature you like you don't have to mess with it you can just turn it on and the water is perfect

This is not the right part. The correct part has two(2) sections at the end. Supposedly this has replaced the correct part. The fact is this replacement (wrong) part does not adjust the temperature! Not only did the part have to be returned, the cost for the plumber was $125 !

The temperature control cartridge quit working after 11 years. The new cartridge, although expensive, fixed it and hopefully it will give us another 11 years of service.

I bought this model heater from Sam's club, for the same price as Amazon. It has easy to use thermostat and fan controls, puts out plenty enough heat for most small bedrooms, and has a great fan output while remaining very quiet by using a blower instead of regular fan blades. I aimed it blowing under my bed and it keeps the mattress warm as with the room. Definitely the best heater for the price range I've ever found.

I know a lot of folks use this in garages and open spaces; but it works WONDERFULLY in a single room efficiency. A lot safer than your typical space heaters and is quiet running as well. I'd recommend this to my friends.

Best Deals on Lasko 5900 Pivoting Ceramic Utility Heater

This is a good product, even tho it's a little breezy; just don't sit in the airflow path & its very good to heat a room. I like the adjustable feature that keeps the output close to the floor. I bought this from Amazon & it was defective; I went to their return site & got a prepaid shipping label plus they got me a replacement the next day! Beat that Walmart!!

Honest reviews on Lasko 5900 Pivoting Ceramic Utility Heater

I originally purchased this heater to use in the garage when I work on my cars during cold weather. For kicks, since my master bedroom tends to get colder than other rooms during the winter, I tried it in there and it works great. It's reasonably quiet, much more so than a few other space heaters I've tried that were advertised as "quiet". The two knobs are simple to use. With the heat knob at about 40% of full setting and the fan knob at the second lowest setting, it does a great job of keeping a large bedroom, a large bathroom, and a large closet nice and toasty all night. This heater blows a ton of hot air at full setting, much more than is need in most rooms. At 40-50% setting, it blows warm, comfortable air, does *not* get hot enough to burn, and I can comfortably rest my hand over the front grill. It is child and pet friendly. The unit is well put together and sturdy. It's virtually impossible to tip it over. It pivots to adjust the airflow angle. This is one of the better purchases I have made in a long time. I would buy it again without hesitation. I rate it four stars simply because it's not silent.

Took two to get one that worked properly, however I purchased this heater on the hope that it would heat a large space, but alas this was not the case, it works fine in a relatively modest area in which I am now using it and it does an adequate job, but I am still looking for the "small" heater that does a larger area.

This is a must have device for any serious Cheesemaker or Home Brewer.

Any fridge even at its lowest setting will cool to about 40 degrees. This is too cold for yeast in beer and for ripening cheeses.

This thermostat installs in minutes and keeps the internal temperatures between 50 and 55 degrees. No need to modify the refrigerators controls. My cheese loves it!

This is the product you need to control your beer's brewing temperature in either a standard freezer or refrigerator. It's easy to install and it does the job. It cuts the power off to the fridge when it reaches the desired temp (+-3 degrees F).

Best Deals on Refrigerator or Freezer Thermostat (Temperature Controller)

This is being used to convert a 7 cu in. chest freezer into a cheese cave. I need the temperature to stay between 50-55F. This unit has a 3.5 differential set by JC to keep your cpmpressor from burning out, and so far, it does just that. It works really well and for the price, its the best thing out there. The coil is kinda fragile, so just be careful and it does take some time (a day or two) for the temp to stabilize. Would recommend.

Honest reviews on Refrigerator or Freezer Thermostat (Temperature Controller)

Product works great. I drilled a hole in the side of my deep chest freezer

Ran the coppor thermostat through it sealed the hole, plugged the unit into

the wall then plugged the freezer into the outlet on the back of the converter plug.

Set the temp you want and you done, easy. Just make sure you don't drill through any

radiators or refrigerant lines when drilling.

Bought this to test converting a small chest freezer to a frig for my cabin. It arrived so fast I hadn't bought the freezer yet. Set up was easy and painless. Been running it for a few weeks and it seems to be keeping the temp within a couple degrees of the set temp ( I think it has a spread in the temp to keep it from cycling on and off). After 6 months of Sunday Crepe breakfasts for the family I now regularly get excellent Crepes (almost) with this Crepe maker without resorting to the professional Krampouz. As usual you have to practice, practice, practice.

Here are a few recommendations:

Ditch the plastic crepe helper. It's similar to the foaming helpers in Espresso machines, it gets total novices over the initial contact hump but quickly stops you from making any decent progress with the product (Crepe). The tool creates a messy experience and creates uneven crepes.

Second ditch the scraper. It's very hard to get good crepes if you prefer the very liquid kind of dough (which I like). Instead get a round Birchwood scraper. They tend to be larger as well ( 8 inches or so). The round surface allows you to evenly spread the dough ( AMAZON sells them )

Third ditch the spatula. It's simply to short. If you make a real crepe, a really thin crepe the provided spatula will just pierce through the crepe when you lift it to turn or take off the crepe maker. I got a 23 inch Birchwood spatula and am very happy with it.

Fourth: There is no magic to crepe if you follow my advice, use this great crepe maker and practice, practice, practice. I use a simple crepe recipe. You need to play with the temperature and times a bit. My crepes are done within 50s on the first side and 30s for the other side. Experiment and watch videos on the internet.

I bought this in July 2009 for a Bastille Day party it was a huge hit! I practiced a few days before the party and couldn't have been happier. Thought it was a little pricey, but has proven to be worth every cent. Fist crepe or two will be a mess, but just keep trying. MAJOR improvement from just using a frying pan. The flat surface allows you to make larger and thinner crepes. We do not use the pre-measured well or scoop. We do use the wooden tools that are included and that is all you need, I just pour an amount in the middle and can eyeball the correct amount. Then I quickly spread with the wooden t-shaped tool to spread the batter evenly. Watch YouTube videos of crepe making to get the process down. We do not grease our surface before cooking b/c I use a recipe from the internet that contains melted butter and nothing ever sticks. This item cooks EVENLY and I use setting 3 for my crepes other setting cook to fast for me. I do not use the included recipe book, but they do look good. I typically make my mix in the blender and it keeps for 48 hours, allowing me to whip out a crepe for breakfast and dinner 2 days in a row. I also like to cook one side, then flip, then crack an egg on top of the cooked side, let it cook for 1 or 2 minutes, then flip again and add cheese with enough time to melt and then fold and serve. Got this idea from YouTube video of a pro crepe maker. Ignore videos of crepe makers that are not on the street cooking crepes in front of customers the other videos are a huge waste of time! Long and short of it GREAT investment for your kitchen!! I even take mine on vacation to the beach! Enjoy!

Best Deals on 13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker

I have used this product twice and I am very impressed with the uniform cooking of this Crepe maker. The large 13" nonstick surface makes perfect crepes everytime... no more throwing out the first crepe! The plactic spreading device makes it easy to evenly spread the batter for beginners. The crepe maker is much more substantial than the picture shows, in my opinion. I found the suggested thermostat settings a little too hot causing the crepes to brown too quickly but, after lowering the temperature, I was knocking out multiple banana/Nutella crepes in a matter of minutes. The results are much more like the crepes I got in Paris than ones I've made in a crepe pan.

Honest reviews on 13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker

Ever since a first visit to France, we've been trying to find the perfect home crepe maker and for us this is it. The directions are very specific and should be followed to the T, with one exception: the included measuring cup for batter is not quite big enough and a touch (maybe about 2-3 Tbsp.) more batter needs to be used for each crepe. Also, when you start the spreading action, it tells you that it needs to be completed in 4 seconds and this is true! You must be really quick. Our favorites are strawberries and nutella and for savory, fried egg (which can be done right on the crepe maker prior to making your crepe), spinach, mushrooms and shredded cheese.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for 13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker

We bought this crepe maker to make a few crepes as an additional product for our vending business. We averaged a couple dozen in a half a day since it wasn't the main product. It worked OK the first time but then it just shut off. After it cooled off, it worked again but we tried it another day and it shut off again. I know it's not made for commercial use but I didn't expect it to shut off after only being turned on less than a couple hours. Just know that this is for home use and probably won't be turned on that long so it will should be OK for the average user.

That being said, it's a nice crepe maker. It has kind of a Teflon coating so the crepes don't stick. It doesn't take very long to heat up. Crepes cook a bit too fast so if you want to put Nutella, fruit or other ingredients in the crepe while it's on the crepe maker you'll have to hurry putting them on to heat them up before the crepe burns. Crepes made with this machine are definitely better than ones made with the cheap makers you find in the common stores.

Pros:

1. Nice large surface. 4 oz of batter will make a full size 13" crepe.

2. Cooking surface in non-stick. Easy to pull the crepe off.

3. Not heavy so it's easy to move and store.

4. Uses normal 110 electricity and 12 amps so it won't throw a breaker in most American homes.

Cons:

1. Settings are not realistic. Highest setting is 8 but if I put it higher than 2 the crepes burn. Cooks a bit fast even at that setting.

2. Can't leave it turned on for very long because it gets too hot and shuts off.

3. Tools that come with it are next to worthless. Buy the wooden dowel spreader (on Amazon). That's what the pros use and as long as you drag it through the batter and not try to push the batter, they work great, creating a perfect round crepe.

This unit cools the room quickly and effectively. It has a nice clean look with updated technology. It is very easy to use and the remote makes it nice and easy to adjust the temperature and fan speed from across the room. After about 2 months of using it, it did start to make a loud grinding/screeching noise. I just took the unit apart to see if I could find the problem and found out that I just needed to add some warm water to the water pump in the lower right hand corner. I also took a qtip to clean the water-way. I turned it back on to see if that was the problem and was happy to see that was it. It has worked great ever since.

We bought one of these off Craigslist, used it one week, then the temp cooled off for about two weeks so we didn't use it. It just started getting hot outside again so turned it on and it made a horrible screeching sound. Read the first review above about how he added warm water to the water pump and it worked!! Thank you SO much for that info!!! Works fine now.

This unit cools the room wonderfully so it gets one star. It goes from completely quiet for a few days and then it needs to SCREEECH for two days. It starts out with a semi-hamster in a wheel sound then all heck breaks loose and it screams for a couple of days. I leave it on during the day to try and 'work out the noise' while I'm gone. The best is when it wakes you up at 3AM. I tried e-mailing customer service and it never went through and kept trying to send it to them (strange). I have read similar reviews on this. I have done everything the manual said to do it I would have never bought this if I would have known how horrible it sounds. Apparently, if you do have to send it in you have to ship it to CA and pay for the freight there and back. Don't buy this unless you are hard of hearing or can sleep through fingernails on chalk board. Then this is the unit for you.

Our oven element in the very old GE P7 oven broke and our local appliance shop no longer does repairs. If I'd known that replacing this element would make the oven perform better I would have replaced it years ago. The last several years my wife would set the oven temperature higher than the recipe's temperature because the actual temperature was always about 25 degrees lower. One day my wife was roasting some meat and could not get it to temperature at all it had finally failed.

The new element has been in use a few months now and glows brightly and evenly and my wife says the oven gets to temperature quicker. I am just glad we did not have to replace the wall oven (General Electric model J KP62GOK3 BG; Nov. 1988) as it has a matching microwave above it. I was looking at a total replacement cost of about $2,000 and have not been real happy with the reliability of new appliances.

Replacement was straightforward and took 5-10 minutes. I did test the old element with a multi-meter before purchasing the new one. A few YouTube queries gave me the instruction I needed (e.g., "Replacing an Oven Coil (Bake Element)" and "Bake and Broil Element Testing").

Despite all the negative reviews of this unit on Amazon.com, I found several other positive reviews elsewhere on the internet, and so I decided to give it a try. I'll admit I was skeptical as to how this unit would perform, especially since it seemed to be much less expensive than other 12,000 BTU units AND it included heat pump functionality. That being said, I am quite pleased with its performance so far.

After the terrible process of having to return a damaged portable AC unit of another brand just a week earlier, I was relieved to see when this one arrived at my door in rather robust packaging. Lifting it out of its "easy open" outer box and inner cardboard crate, I was able to observe its features in person for the first time. The multi-color display is a nice touch; the bright VFD display provides simple animations of the unit's current function, as well as a basic clock (used for setting the on/off timer), and the current temperature setting. The remote control sits in a holster on the back of the unit. I found the remote to be a bit bland, with all the buttons but the power button the same size and no distinction of the most frequently used buttons (i.e. temperature, mode) from the less frequently used extras (i.e. sleep mode, Celsius/Fahrenheit setting). The use of the remote is limited anyways since the display on the unit sits facing upward, preventing you from seeing what you are doing unless you are hovering above it.

Installation is pretty straightforward. The user's manual includes several photographs of the installation process, which doesn't differ much from any single-hose portable AC on the market. You simply screw the hose into the adapters and attach the adapters onto the back of the unit and onto the adjustable panel which you close in your window.

So now the important part: how it works. I found the unit to perform quite well. The AC function is plenty cool, and with three fan settings, you can adjust the level of output (and noise) to the current conditions. The heat pump also works well, and I was impressed with the fact that the unit waits to start blowing air into the room until the heat pump has begun generating warm air. That way, on a cold winter's day you won't get a rush of cold air in your face while the unit starts up. After your set temperature is reached, the unit shuts down completely (including the fan). Perhaps handy for some people is an auto mode which automatically heats if the temperature is below 68°F, dehumidifies if the temperature is between 68°F and 80°F, and cools if over 80°F. There also is an oscillation feature which helps circulate the air into the room.

As others have said, this AC unit is not super quiet. While in fan-only mode, the noise is minimal, but while heating, cooling, or dehumidifying, the exhaust fan in the back of the unit adds a considerable amount more. While nobody will be fooled into thinking a jet is landing, some may find it difficult to sleep with the unit in the room if it is doing anything but circulating air.

Just another quick note about draining the water bucket... be prepared to empty it no less often than most air conditioning units, regardless of what the manufacturer claims it can evaporate through the hose. I also agree with others who have said that the drainage plug is really close to the ground, so you may want to place it on a hard surface or elevate it slightly to assist in the drainage process. You do get a short hose and drip pan in the box to help you empty the moisture into a larger pan, but you may want to keep a towel handy as well.

Overall, this air conditioner/heat pump unit is a economical choice if you need all-season comfort in an area of your home. Various room-size estimations abound, some even rating this unit up to 500 sq. ft. My suggestion is that you use this unit for no more than a single large room, as you will probably see much worse performance if you try to heat or cool an entire floor with it. But for supplemental heating or cooling, you really cannot go wrong with the Soleus Air PH3-12R-03.

I had this AC unit for less than 1 months and it now SCREAMS! due to a bad pump. The manufacturer said they would "look at it" but I had to pay the shipping cost to ship to them in CA. Not worth the cost of the shipping, Total waste of money. NEVER buy from Soleus! Crap manufacturing, cheap plastic parts. poor warranty service. $400 just thrown away for something that only work for 2 months at best! I'd give zero stars if I could! DO NOT BUY, you have been warned!!!!!!

Best Deals on Soleus Air PH3-12R-03 Portable Evaporative Heat Pump/Air

I just bought this 3 weeks ago. After numerous window units I thought I would try a portable unit so I could direct the air where I wanted it. First of all this unit was difficult to install. The directions were terrible. I have had a lot less problem with my previous window units. 12,000 BTU's should cool my entire living/dining room. It works okay if you are directly in front of it, but 8-10 feet away just so so. It is as loud as any window unit I have had. It does not cool down to lowest temp so compressor is always on. After running it quite a bit for three days I just had to drain the condensation holding tank which was an experience in and of itself! The plug is on the bottom about a half inch from the floor. It is below the hose so you have to remove that. When you remove the cap, there is no type of plug, so the water immediately begins pouring into the pitiful plastic drainage tray that is provided that holds about 1/2 cup at the most. With a 1.5 liter tank to drain you need to also have a bucket or a bowl and plenty of towels as I found it impossible to stop the flow trying to empty the tray of water into the bucket. Long story short, don't waste your money. Way to expensive for the hassle. I'm going to go have a beer and make up with my dogs who are quivering outside after hearing my yelling of obscenities during the drainage process.

Honest reviews on Soleus Air PH3-12R-03 Portable Evaporative Heat Pump/Air

I hope my review can save someone else the trouble and expense that I have endured, I purchased this unit for $420 and we used it for 1 month then put it away until the next summer well when next summer came around it didn't work just hot air comes out.

We call soleus air to use the 1 year manufacturer warranty and indeed they have told me that I will get a new one but I have to ship the old one back at my expense which from michigan to california is $160 shipping and packaging but they don't tell you this and every other company I have ever used pays shipping on a defective product especially one that was only used for a month.

I have $600 into this unit now and they are sending a new one supposedly but what about when this one goes out then I have to pay another $160 to ship it back???? what kind of service is that? My mother purchased one of these units before she had central air installed and she got 2 months out of hers and threw it in the garbage rather than pay the shipping back which is probably a smart move.

I wish that I had asked my mother what brand unit she had before I bought mine it would have saved me $600 bucks and they can keep sending me their junk until one actually makes it a year or I get tired of spending $160 to send them back or get central air which I can't afford but at the price this has cost me I almost could have bought central air.

They were nasty about it on the phone too with the attitude that this is their policy and too bad if you don't like it so if you want to brave it and buy their junk go right ahead but don't say you weren't warned.

The junk companies like soleus air have their people put good reviews on their products it's been a practice of these junk peddlers for a long long time so that explains the couple of good reviews.

This air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier is highly overrated by the manufacturer. 12,000 BTU should make your home feel like a refrigerator. It doesn't! It doesn't come close to the air cooling capacity of window units with less than half this rating. The drainage outlet is located way too close to the floor thereby not allowing for a hose to drain properly without elevating the unit. While there is a condensation overflow tank drainage again is an issue. I ran the unit for a solid eight hours at the lowest temperature setting/highest fan speed and the first floor of my small home was only marginally cooler. I was very disappointed as I had hoped this was the answer to both my cooling and heating needs.
