In 1983 when I built this house, thermostats were manual, and simple. A new air pump in 2000 meant a new, but still manual, thermostat as I was not offered an alternative. A new heater unit installed in early December came with the suggestion by the installer that I order this unit, and that it was "simple to self-instal." We homeowners have all heard that before, all too often, but in this case, the installer was correct. It took maybe all of ten minutes to take out the old, manual thermostat and, carefully following the wiring guide provided with the unit, install the new unit. More to the point, once installed, with back-up batteries, the programming of the unit was even easier than expected, and took about another 5 minutes. It has been working flawlessly during one of the coldest weeks in decades here in New Jersey, and has provided better control than I have ever had of my heat pump. Recommended more highly than any other "appliance" control I've ever dealt with.

The unit is in our bedroom in the corner, only assembly required was the corner top piece / support. I was impressed w/how well the unit is engineered and contained the corner pieces inside the back w/wing nut screws. These same screws are re-used for the support leg of the corner option. It looks Very Nice, heat is very good, and the Flames look realistic enough for nice ambience. I looked at a LOT of fireplaces before settling on this unit for it's simple yet attractive design and the fact the cabinet is made of real wood and not particle / manufactured wood equivalent.

I love this electric fireplace. It creates a warm atmosphere, and I like that I can have the "fire burning" without having the heating element on. It is a little noisy with the heater and fan operating, but not bad. My only complaint is that the wood is considerably darker than it appears on the web site and on the packing carton. Even so, it is a lovely addition to my bedroom.

I received my fireplace yesterday evening. I have an old 1940s house with an oil furnace and my bedroom is always cold. I was very impressed with the quality of the heat. It is a nice, even heat throughout the room. The fireplace is well made . . . it is an attractive piece. I was informed this design is being discontinued ... I hope the company will reconsider because I wouldn't mind having one of these fireplaces in white (which was sold out when I placed my order).

It's clear. It appears fairly tough. I doesn't appear to mess with temperature or humidity readings although it has a lot of air moving over it in my installation.

I wish there was a shallower version available. It sticks out pretty far beyond the 1.25" thermostat. It only comes with 1 key.

This unit cools the room quickly and effectively. It has a nice clean look with updated technology. It is very easy to use and the remote makes it nice and easy to adjust the temperature and fan speed from across the room. After about 2 months of using it, it did start to make a loud grinding/screeching noise. I just took the unit apart to see if I could find the problem and found out that I just needed to add some warm water to the water pump in the lower right hand corner. I also took a qtip to clean the water-way. I turned it back on to see if that was the problem and was happy to see that was it. It has worked great ever since.

We bought one of these off Craigslist, used it one week, then the temp cooled off for about two weeks so we didn't use it. It just started getting hot outside again so turned it on and it made a horrible screeching sound. Read the first review above about how he added warm water to the water pump and it worked!! Thank you SO much for that info!!! Works fine now.

This unit cools the room wonderfully so it gets one star. It goes from completely quiet for a few days and then it needs to SCREEECH for two days. It starts out with a semi-hamster in a wheel sound then all heck breaks loose and it screams for a couple of days. I leave it on during the day to try and 'work out the noise' while I'm gone. The best is when it wakes you up at 3AM. I tried e-mailing customer service and it never went through and kept trying to send it to them (strange). I have read similar reviews on this. I have done everything the manual said to do it I would have never bought this if I would have known how horrible it sounds. Apparently, if you do have to send it in you have to ship it to CA and pay for the freight there and back. Don't buy this unless you are hard of hearing or can sleep through fingernails on chalk board. Then this is the unit for you.

Was undergoing a gut renovation, and bought this for below the new bathroom floors. Inevitably, we went to install it about a month past when it was supposed to be installed! Nature of the renovation beast I guess. And we had bought the wrong size to top it off. We had a return (bought the wrong size initially) and even though it was past the return date, was able to return with the company.

If you are not an expert bathroom builder, this kit is just right for you. I was hesitant to install this mat in our bathroom. I was afraid of cutting the mat on accident, and although I am sure the company's warnings are justified, I did not feel we were ever at the risk of ruining the mat when installing it. The end result is a comfortably warm basement bathroom floor!!

Ups: -Price: it is comparably cheaper getting this kit than purchasing the pieces at lowes/home depot/tile shop

-Don't need to be an expert

Downs: the mat only comes in squares/rectangles, so you cannot hit every corner of the floor as you can when you use the wire system.

-Fishing the wire on the wall to install the thermostat is not as easy as I would like it to be.

I've had my thermostat installed for approx. two weeks now and found that it's doing what it's supposed to do I don't have to mess with it, I leave it set, and it just handles it. It's nice to have my furnace shut off at night and come on right before I go to work, and on the weekends it just keeps going all day until the time I set. One less thing to remember. Don't forget to comparison shop at local outlets...

I have been working as an HVAC tech for 11 years now and Honeywell is the only Thermostat that I will recomend. If you are thinking about this Thermostat you will not be dissapointed. It is far more accurate than a standard T87 round stat and it is reliable. Be aware this will work on a gas furnace or oil furnace with AC . It will not work on a heat pump for a heat pump you will need a Honeywell model T8611 Cronotherm III . All in all this is a very good thermostat .

The Honeywell CT3200 Thermostat takes its cue from your programmable coffeemaker: set the time and temperature, and you'll wake up to a warm house to go along with that pot of hot coffee waiting for you.

Anyone possessing a minimum aptitude with tools should be able to remove an old thermostat and replace it with this one. The reward for a few minutes' work is a thermostat that provides 4 heating or cooling periods on weekdays and 2 for the weekend.

The programming interface isn't intimidating. If you make a mistake, it's easy to dump out of what you're doing and come back without losing all your other settings. Monday through Friday, you can set a wake-up time and temperature, an "away" temperature to lower the heat when you're out of the house, a "return" setting to warm the house up and a "sleep" period to drop the temperature when everyone's snug in their beds. On the weekend, you're limited to a "wake" and "sleep" cycle.

Even with its rudimentary programming compared to more expensive thermostats, the CT3200 is easy to override if, say, someone comes home earlier than expected to a chilly house. You simply pump the temperature up to where you want it and the setting will be maintained until the next setpoint. There's even a "hold" option, handy for keeping an empty vacation cottage in the mountains warm enough to prevent the pipes from bursting on a freezing night.

A hardware expert friend tells me that Honeywell uses the same solid state dual-transducer temperature sensor in this model as in their most expensive commercial-grade thermostats, so if you're replacing an ancient mercury bulb thermostat, expect real, measurable savings in your heating and cooling bills. It's the same technology used by Honeywell's penny-pinching corporate clients at a price you can afford.

This thermostat, according to the Honeywell site, is for standard furnace/air conditioning setups. It won't work with your heatpump. For that you need the CT3600, which you can't buy from amazon (yet?)

This thermostat was easy to install, though you will have problems connecting it if the wires coming from the wall are short.

The unit's programming functions are uninspired. There is a set calendar of week days (Mon.Fri.) and weekend days. So, if you work Tues. Sat, you're out-a-luck. For the week days, you can set times and temps. for waking up, leaving for the day, returning and/or going to bed. For the weekend, you only get waking and sleeping settings. This rigid schedule does not take into account that you may stay-up later on Friday night (because it's the weekend), and that you are not likely to stay up late on Sunday (because it's a work night).
