It's important to understand the behavior of this thermostat if you are going to use the "programmable"/schedule part of it. I learned after using it for a little while that the thermostat will call for heat before you think it might. If you have programmed it to be at 70 degrees (Farenheit) at 7PM it is designed to be "smart" and come on before 7PM to make sure that it is as close to 70 degrees at 7PM as possible. I'm not sure that I like this feature because then I don't have fine grain control over when the thermostat is running or not. I would have loved to known this before buying this thermostat, because I probably would have said "oh yeah I don't want that". Hope someone else finds this helpful!

My AC was turning on and off so much it was about to burn up. My service tech explained how the on and off causes the Freon to burn up and turn to sludge. This three degree dwell allows for longer runs and has saved my unit. It has been three years and it is still working great after being given a six month death sentence.
