Update: These are now available in NEMA 4x weather tight enclosures. I am trying a couple of those. They cost about $15 more. I would recommend that type enclosure unless you have a very benign and dry environment at the controller location.

I would highly recommend this controller for many applications. You can use it to power something via the power that supplies it (110, 220 or 24 v depending on the model, I think) or just use it to open and close a circuit, which is how I use it to control steam boilers for a heating system.Yes, it looks and is very industrial. If wiring to you means plugging something into an outlet, then don't buy this. You have to know how to wire something, read a wiring diagram and understand how your system works to correctly install and use this controller.
But if you do, this controller is a bargain and has many helpful functions that you won't find on a conventional made for the consumer market controller/thermostat.
