I bought the Intermatic PF1103 Freeze Guard for the swimming pool to replace the original generic freeze guard. I installed it myself along with a new Intermatic T104R201 Timer. The new T104R201 replaced a T104R201 that was 20 years old. The systems have been up for about one month now and everything has been functioning properly.
The only issue I ran into with the PF1103 Freeze Guard was with the Technical Services people at Intermatic. The PF1103 system is a 120/240 volt system and my original swimming pool equipment installation is 240 volt so I did not have a 120 volt leg out to the equipment. I should have purchased the PF1102 Freeze Guard which is the 240 volt version. After several calls to Tech Services describing the situation, they could not tell me I needed the PF1102 and they tried to tell me that I could not use the PF1103 model unless I had the additional 120 volt wiring installed from the electrical panel out to pool equipment which would have been very costly. After some research on my own, I found that the only difference between the PF1103 and the PF1102 is one extra wire that connects to a wire from the T104R201 timer. This is pre-wired in the PF1102 and is not present. Once I properly connected the extra wire on the PF1103 to the timer, I basically had a PF1102 and this now matched the original systems.
Bottom line, the Intermatic equipment is first rate, and their technical services expertise is questionable.
