This device has changed the game for managing temperatures in the house. I have 3 zones and 3 thermostats, and one outdoor gauge. I use either this device or my iPad/iPhones to control my temps, now. The device has worked flawless for a few months.

I use wood heat and have had a problem with the thermostat being in the same room as my stove for several years. The bedrooms in the back were pretty chilly on cold nights due to the thermostat being right by the wood stove. I was dreading having to run new wires to relocate the thermostat but was going to have to do something. Then I stumbled across this. I move it to the living area during the day then at night just take it and set the thermostat on the night stand. No more cold cold nights. New technology is great. Lots faster, easier, and way less messy then having to move the existing thermostat.Honest reviews on Honeywell REM5000R1001 Portable Comfort Control
This is a great addition to the unit. We often found ourselves having to go back downstairs at night to adjust temperature up or down for comfort, but now the lazy and really sleepy person in me doesn't have to go beyond my nightstand to adjust the temperature comfortably.Really worth the investment.

Worth noting a few things:1. Every RedLink device I've purchased (this unit and the gateway from Honeywell via Amazon and the outdoor sensor from an external vendor) have been open boxes. The seal is broken and the packaging is disrupted. I'm not sure if they are all returns or what. Nevertheless, they all seemed to work, though I'm not certain all the instructions have been repackaged.
2. This thing is chunky and somewhat heavier than it looks in the picture. The touch screen is sluggish.
3. When you pop in the batteries, it prompts you to pair it with your thermostat. That's very nice, because the Gateway didn't come with instructions and technical support provided the incorrect info. I only figured out how to connect through scrolling through all the menu options on the thermostat.
4. It works well, but the only thing it offers in addition to the phone or tablet app is that it can sense the local temperature and you then have the option of using this as the sensor the thermostat responds to. If you just want to remotely control your thermostat, the Android and iOS apps work better and you can probably even buy a cheap Android tablet and dedicate it to this job, if you wanted, for about the cost of this unit alone, though the batteries in this device should last for a while.
