this wireless programmable thermostat allowed me to easily and cheaply move my existing thermostat from a dining room we never use to our bedroom. we have two furnaces, and when we saw how well the first one worked, bought another to control the 2nd furnace. that one had been controlled from a wired furnace on the 2nd floor hallway... near the kids rooms. well, now that the kids are all grown, we want the temp in the family room to be the 'set temp' and this unit allowed us to make the move of the thermostat to the family room. easy to set up, and works flawlessly. i had one i nstall question when i was putting it in, and the customer support people were easy to reach.

I have 10 of these( the T955W model without the humidity feature) and the maximum distance between base station and thermostat is NOT what is advertised! They claim 50 feet in a house with "normal" construction, I've found that in my house, which is built with 2x4 framing and lath and plaster walls, the distance is 25 feet maximum. In addition, it has been a very time consuming and hit-and-miss procedure to find the best location to locate a base station and wireless thermostat pair. Most wireless devices now have a signal strength meter on them to tell you when you are in the best location to receive a signal, but this device does not. If you buy this kit, be prepared to relocate your base stations and thermostats several times, like I did. The heating contractor that initially installed the base stations put them all in one random location in my basement, conveniently close to the furnace, thus making it easy for them to quickly wire up the control system. But I've had to relocate 5 of them to be within 15 feet of the thermostats on my first and second floors, so that the base stations can actually be in wireless contact with the thermostats. Another difficulty that this false maximum distance created was that if you have the thermostat Technician Setup feature "Freeze Protection" set to "On", when the base station loses contact with the thermostat, the base station calls for heat every hour, even though that zone does not require heat. I solved this problem, which the Pro1iaq people couldn't trouble shoot, by making sure I set "Freeze Protection" to "Off" WHEN THE BASE STATION-THERMOSTAT PAIR WERE IN CONTACT( this is when the blue light on the base station is on).I've found the other features of this product to be good, but the wireless transmission distance problem outweighs any of the other features for meotherwise I would have gone wired rather than wireless! If you buy this thing, be very aware of where you locate each base station relative to its thermostat!
