I installed the receiver of this device in place of the simple wall switch used on my gas fireplace. It works like a charm. Now I can lay in bed and turn the FP on or off, and set a timer for it to go off automatically. I think I am a little spoiled with this new luxury!

It also has an interesting feature that checks to see if the remote is still nearby while the FP is on. If the remote is no longer nearby after half an hour, the FP shuts down for safety's sake. I believe it does this because, in timer mode, the remote has to send the signal to shut it off, and if it is somehow missing, you want it to shut itself off anyway. It also has a manual override on the wall unit receiver, which is also a nice feature.

This Remote works great for a standard built-in fireplace that is offered in most new builder homes. This saves a trip out of bed and has a timer function to make sure that the fireplace is turned off and does not stay on all night.

Great product, easy to install and comes with everything you need to get it working immediately. (ie batteries in box)

The temperature display is interesting, but since most fireplaces in new homes in California are about ambiance and not heat, this works great for me.

SKYTECH'S remote control system was developed to provide a safe, reliable and user-friendly remote control system for gas heating appliances. This all battery system operates independently of household current. The system operates on radio frequencies with nondirectional signals. The SYSTEM's operating range is approximately 20 feet range. The system operates on one of 1,048,576 security codes that are programmed into the transmitter at the factory.

Remote has a thermometer which reads the ambient temperature, but is not used for setting the fireplace temperature... No big deal. The really great convenience is being able to set the timer on the fireplace ~ 15 minutes to 3 hours!.. which is really handy.... I can leave the fireplace on, go to sleep knowing that it will automatically shut itself off. Installation was a breeze! The only downside is that the remote and the receiver control box are both battery powered, which means having to change out batteries annually.

We wanted a timer on our gas fireplace in the bedroom. Quickly found out, well not that quickly, that a traditional timer doesn't work on that current. This unit was easy to install and the remote works great. On, then a countdown timer in 15 min increments. there is a temp reading on the remote. Used it all winter.
