I bought this blanket for my picky husband. He wanted it because he is working out of state, and staying in a home with a cold spare room in the back corner of the house. He loves it. The fabric is soft, and the wires are not bulky. He has this between his flat sheet and thin comforter, and says he is plenty warm on heat setting 1 or 2. As always, I love shopping on Amazon. This blanket arrived fast, was very well-packaged, and priced fairly. I purchased the color 'Lagoon', and the color does match the pics on Amazon.com.

Ordered the queen size with 2 controllers. One side continually heats even on low you have to turn it off or roast. The other side heats a little then the controller starts flashing. My last Sunbeam electric blanket lasted about 7 years this one DOA. The manual says to contact customer support and not to return to retailer. So I emailed them and waiting to hear back. If they want to make me pay for shipping or anything, I will return to Amazon. One star for lousy start, will adjust only if customer service comes through and blanket actually functions correctly.

Customer service came back with the following steps:

To FIX this problem, please reset your product by completing the steps below in order. Skipping or performing steps out of order may affect the reset process.

1. Unplug the power cord from the electrical connection.

2. Unplug the cord from the actual bedding product itself.

3. Re-plug the cord into the bedding product, making sure the connection is secure.

4. Re-insert power cord back into a wall outlet. Note: surge protectors and power strips may adversely affect your product.

The steps have fixed the major issue with flashing. Be careful when doing the unhooking from the blanket one clip broke off on me. But they did not address the overly hot on low. Emailed them back about that will see what they say. But because of overall working increased the stars to 3. But is annoying having to turn off the blanket manually and then later turn on again.

------Update January 26, 2012---------

Customer service got back to me about the overheating problem. They said I had to send it back to them at my expense and it would be 4 week before I would see it again. So since less than a week old, I am returning to Amazon. Amazon is paying for shipping to return the bad one and is shipping the replacement for Saturday delivery. Amazon deserves 5 stars but since this review is about the blanket will leave at 3 and see what happens when the new one arrives.

Amazon did come through and the new one works correctly. It still is on the warm side on the lowest setting but doesn't roast you like the defective one. Over all still think it is only a 3 star product.

I purchased this to replace a Sunbeam electric blanket more than 10 years old. With the onset of cooler weather, it didn't warm up when I put it on the bed.

This is exactly what I expected. It warms nicely, looks and feels great. I would expect this to give me years of service and it's great to have a 5 year warranty "just in case".

Amazon Prime had it here the day after I ordered it.

I got this for my cat. She's a Sphynx breed (hairless), and she easily gets chilly. Prior to this she was using a throw sized Sunbeam. The throw size is actually plenty big for a cat. Unfortunately that size only has a four hour timer. With this twin size she gets 10 hours so the heat doesn't cut out in the middle of the night...nor in the middle of the day if I'm at work. Yes, the twin size is quite large for a little cat. I fold it in half to give her extra padding and warmth. (Note, the twin size only has one controller.)

This blanket is machine washable. It had a little bit of a chemical smell when I received it. Therefore, I washed before giving it to her. It went through the machine just fine. I line dried it. Note, if you try this be aware that these blankets need to be *completely* dry before they will turn on again. If there's even the slightest hint of moisture the unit will not power on.

For what it's worth, I have machine washed her Sunbeam throw many times as well. It's a bit "rugged" looking in some spots because it's been used by a cat for several years, but it still works just fine!

All through childhood, I lived with my grandma. There were two things she always had to have: a cup of hot tea and an electric blanket. Needless to say, she purchased multiple electric blankets through the years so I do know a little bit about them.

This is by far the best electric blanket ever. I love the material of it because it's extremely soft and high quality. Most electric blankets skimp on the material and it ends up feeling like canvas because the emphasis is on the fact that it stays heated not the material itself.

The last electric blanket I had (which was also a Sunbeam so they have obviously made improvements) had a terrible problem with shedding and getting lint everywhere. Lintballs would come off of the blanket and get all over everything: the sheets, the pillows, the carpet, my clothes, etc. It was terrible. This one does not have that problem.

Now I have to warn everyone about washing it: do not wash it like a normal blanket. If you do, it will destroy it. I washed this one in the regular wash and then in the dryer, and it destroyed the heating mechanism. So follow the instructions on how to wash it or it will ruin it.

I'll be honest, I have rarely turned the heat in my house on this winter because the bills are so high that I can't afford it so having this electric blanket helps a lot. Even if the rest of the house as freezing at least it's warm in my bed.
