Reviews of Venstar Wireless Thermostat 2-wire Kit

I recently bought the Venstar T5800 for a weekend home in Maine. I wanted to be able to control the temperature remotely. However, my old thermostat only had a red and white wire. The T5800 requires a black (power) wire as well. Venstar support told me about this solution, and it worked out just fine.

All I did was plug it into the outlet beneath my thermostat and then fish the black wire up the wall to the unit and attach. Instant power....

One note...all the literature for this item says it is for use with another Venstar thermostat. However, their support rep told me it would work with the T5800, and he was correct. So, if you're having the same issue, chances are it will work to solve it.

We live in a large, old farmhouse with exactly one heating zone — the whole house. And the thermostat was located in a main floor hallway, right by a door to the outside. With the wireless thermostat we can now regular the house more accurately by having the temperature monitored in a central and protected location. Easy to set up and so far is working perfectly.
