Purchased this product as a more attractive space heater for my bedroom. The actual fireplace was delivered before the cabinet so don't be alarmed if you receive separate shipments. Putting the cabinet together was very simple and can be done by one person with little mechanical skills. I would recommend using wood glue to keep the wooden pegs that help hold the pieces together better. The wood stain and slate frontage piece look terrific and I have received compliments after I set it up. The remote makes it easy to control. I use this in a bedroom that has about 400sq feet with high ceilings and even at half heat mode, it kept the room warm. A great look to any room; I am very happy with this fireplace. I hope you enjoy it as much!

Totally worth the money! It is a quality piece. I was able to assemble it myself (it was that easy) You only need a screwdriver and it was a good thing since thats all I've got :) It locks together securely and know that no matter how many times I move, it can take it! Wasn't quite sure by the description of all that it was capable of, so I'll let you know. You can manually adjust or use the remote to turn it on/off (both just the fire effects and/or the heater), adjust the brightness of the logs from off to super bright, adjust the flaming effect from off to high effects (which is a little added niceness that I didn't know I was getting). And the switches and dials are hard to get to (I had to use a pencil to switch it on) which is nice because I'm not worried about my small children being able to play with them. I have nice new things but this is definitely the nicest thing in the room :)

I bought this in January and the mantle came damaged. I called costumer service for the company and I got a REAL person and they said they would send a new one out. It arrived within the week. The fireplace looks and works great. I use it in a large open room and am happy with the heat it generates.

To assemble it took 2 people to slide the front panel(s) on because the hardware didn't hold it together real well. I recommend some glue for the dowelsthey were a little loose. When you attach the sides to the front make sure you pull the sides toward the middle. I had to redo this part because I couldn't get the top mantle on (the side leaned out a little too much on the one corner). Otherwise installation was pretty simple.

Honest reviews on SEI Cartwright Convertible Electric Fireplace

Received fireplace yesterday, it was easy to put together and looks great. Only issue at all was the wooden dowels are a little loose in some holes so I applied a little Elmers wood glue to the dowels. The fire box's fake flame isn't as realistic as the top of the line units, but it looks good. The wood work is very nice and absolutely looks great. For the price we couldn't find anything that comes close to looking this good in local retail stores. Ordered the fireplace on a Monday morning and received it Wednesday (2 days)with regular shipping at no extra charge. In all we couldn't be happier with this purchase.

We purchased this electric fireplace to sit in the corner of our living room. It has an attractive physical presence and looks nice in its location. It is substantial and well built. The ability to turn on the "flame" without the heat is a nice touch.

It is shipped in two packages one includes the cabinet and the other includes the heating unit. The cabinet is extremely well packaged and one would be unlikely to obtain it in a damaged condition. I was impressed with how well they packaged it.

But we were a bit disappointed in the "oak finish". It does not match the rest of our oak furniture as it has a darker finish (darker than the pictures show it to be). Still, it is quite attractive and "COZY IN KENTUCKY", who stated below that it looks better than the pictures, is correct.

Assembly is easy, but will take some time. Set aside an hour or two and use wood glue on the wooden dowels as others have suggested. While it is much easier to assemble with two people, one person can handle the task although it could be awkward to do so. An electric screwdriver is a great help. Instructions were supposed to be included, but were not included in my packaging. All else was as it should be. The instructions are easy to obtain and seem to be commonly left out of the package as SEI has spelled out how to obtain them in their FAQ. A simple call, or email, will result in the instructions being faxed or emailed directly to you. Unfortunately, SEI is not open past 5PM CST on Friday. If you have plans to assemble the unit over the weekend, and your instructions were not included, you will be out of luck until Monday. I found several people across the internet trying to locate the instructions and in the same fix as myself.

Overall, this is a nice unit, easy to assemble, works as it should, and is quite attractive. If you are looking for a reasonably cheap and good looking electric fireplace, you should consider this one.

Honeywell TH3110B1000 Non-Programmable digital heating / cooling Review

Honeywell TH3110B1000 Non-Programmable digital heating / cooling thermostat - new generation
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I wanted the simplest digital thermostat possible for use in an oft-rented condo. Unlike most, you don't even have to press a button on this one to see the current setting. It is in their commercial line, so it is sturdy and very flexible as to system type and wiring. The only drawback for some applications is that you have to pry the front cover off to replace the batteries. This avoids the little doors that usually break or fall off in heavy usage, but it also means that people unfamiliar with it could have trouble replacing the batteries, and unless your thermostat wiring supplies power (many don't), it needs the batteries to operate. Price is great and it was shipped on time.

We have the square Johnson Controls thermostats at work for every zone. Several of these are in places where the general public has the opportunity to make adjustments. Despite our HVAC only having a 3 degree variance on either side of neutral, this does cause disturbances in the workplace.

This is a great solution. It seems sturdy for the money, and works great. It installed super easy and the key, while tight, works excellently. It's sturdy enough to discourage people from trying to pry it open and would fit those standard round home thermostats too.

It comes with all the parts you need and keeps people from meddling with the controls.

I recently bought the Venstar T5800 for a weekend home in Maine. I wanted to be able to control the temperature remotely. However, my old thermostat only had a red and white wire. The T5800 requires a black (power) wire as well. Venstar support told me about this solution, and it worked out just fine.

All I did was plug it into the outlet beneath my thermostat and then fish the black wire up the wall to the unit and attach. Instant power....

One note...all the literature for this item says it is for use with another Venstar thermostat. However, their support rep told me it would work with the T5800, and he was correct. So, if you're having the same issue, chances are it will work to solve it.

We live in a large, old farmhouse with exactly one heating zone — the whole house. And the thermostat was located in a main floor hallway, right by a door to the outside. With the wireless thermostat we can now regular the house more accurately by having the temperature monitored in a central and protected location. Easy to set up and so far is working perfectly.

First, if you know anything about installing thermostats, it's no harder than any other. In other words, there are 4-7 colored wires, and you have to put them in the right place. That's it.

Now, for the thermostat, it is just beyond good. From the easy programming to the flexibility of the options, to the FULL AUTO mode so you never have to worry about switching from heat to cool again, it's a set and forget job. And the options for temp and holiday hold, the circulation feature that keeps your whole house more constant, etc. Great.

Remember, this is a single stage model, but there are slightly more expensive versions for multi-stage setups, so choose the right one. Most people will be fine with the 8110. Even if you live in an apartment or a rental, buy this, install it, save money, be more comfortable, then put the old one back before you move out. it's worth it.

I have purchased 4 of these in 2 housesand like the thermostatBUTone of the last ones I purchased has a flakey touchscreen. You really have to push and push to get it to recognize a command. When calling Honeywell (twice)I learnedthey won't honor any warranty directly with the customer. You must have a contractor come out to get it replaced.

Soyou could buy a new one for $100or pay for 2 service calls to get yours fixed under warranty. In other wordsthere is no warranty if you install it yourself. I'm irritated by this and wouldn't buy another product from them now...

Easy set up, just make sure you read all of the installation instructions. Some of the features the thermostat has are not active out of the box and require you to turn them on. The thermostat it self is very easy to use and program. I now have more control than I ever did and am able to keep the house at a comfortable level all the time. It is nice to never have to mess with the thermostat and the Auto Changeover feature is great! It heats the house in the morning and cools it during the day. One other feature I found handy is a circulation feature on the fan. It will run the fan 35% of the time to keep the air in the house moving. If you are thinking about purchasing a new thermostat get this one, you will be happy.

Honest reviews on Honeywell TH8110U1003 Vision Pro 8000 Digital Thermostat

The Verdict

I replaced my old mercury filled round thermostat(you know the type) about six months ago. I've found this product to be both a solid, easy to install product and a good value. For those reasons I'd recommend it for anyone who's considering a thermostat in this price range.

Installation

This thermostat was straightforward to install. It included diagrams for several types of furnaces on which it might be installed, and I'm guessing it's fairly comprehensive, since it worked without issues on what looks like the no-name furnace in my garage. The wires just pop right into the circuit board on the back, and the unit mounts easily on the wall.

Operation

The touch screen is also easy to operate. It's intuitive and simple, somewhat of an accomplishment for a device with so many capabilities. With all the features it has, you can spend a lot of time programming it, so the other nice-to-have feature with this unit is that it can be removed from the wall without tools and programmed anywhere you'd like to take it. This way, you can sit in a comfortable chair instead of standing in the hallway.

Value

When I was shopping around, I also found this to be an excellent price for similar thermostats. You should find the same thing when you start looking around.

Additional Considerations

If you have the same type of thermostat I used to have and think this is too expensive for your home, then consider the benefits I experienced. Some of them might change your mind about how worthwhile this expense could be:

Increased comfort for about the same amount of money

My old thermostat came without even a switch to leave the fan running on the furnace to constantly circulate air. With this thermostat, I'm able to hold the temperature constant throughout the house and keep it stable over time by running the fan all the time. This results in a higher electric bill for me, because I'm using the fan more, but it also lowers my gas bill because the furnace is heating air less. The net result is that it costs me about the same amount of money to live in a significantly more comfortable house.

One less toxic chemical in your house

Did you know those old thermostats still have mercury switches? When I took the cover off my thermostat, I saw the little glass bubble full of mercury swishing around inside. I'm a reasonable person, and I'm reasonably sure that the mercury is perfectly safe so long as that glass bubble remains airtight. Now that I have kids, though, I can't always prevent them from running down the hall with a mop or something and getting highly toxic heavy metals all over my floor. There just isn't a good excuse for people to be keeping bubbles of mercury sitting around in their houses anymore. If I really, really want to have mercury in my house, the FDA says I can just buy some deep water fish like tuna or swordfish.

Additional savings from programmability

One of the other reasons I'm probably able to do well on my energy bill is that this thermostat, unlike my old one, is very programmable. It allows me to select four different periods for each day, and to set the temperature for each period. I can set the temperature down in sweater territory when nobody's home, and have the home comfortable again by the time I return, but still leave things toasty all day on the weekends when I'm typically home with my family.

Furnace filter change reminder

Maybe you're not like me. Maybe you always remember to dutifully change your furnace filter on an exact regular schedule, and this filter change is just so critical to your happiness in life that you look forward to filter changing day. You may even have a special reminder on your computer, or mark it on the calendar you make a special point of reading every single day.

I'm just not like that. I forget that my filter gets dirty, which lowers air flow and makes the fan work harder, which in turn raises my electric bill. That's not a problem for me anymore with this thermostat. It has a reminder feature that counts down a few preset numbers of days, then flashes a message on its screen when it's time for you to change the filter.

For me, that's more convenient because I'm typically at the computer in my office when my mail client reminds me of things like this. By the time I get home after a long day at the office, that little reminder to change my filter typically gets lost in the hectic haze of everyday life. With the reminder on the thermostat, though, I can stare, bleary eyed at the display for a few minutes. When it hits me that the screen is telling me to change the filter, I can trudge out to the garage and get it done with minimal mental effort. It's a good match between what I've got to give at the end of the day, and what I need to give.

(I hope)increased resale value

I think these thermostats look great, and I think most people would agree with me. I also think potential home buyers will include "most people" by the time I'm ready to sell, and that this thermostat's modern but reserved design will still be attractive when that time comes.

It really does add something to the feel of a house when the homeowner upgrades smaller details like the thermostat. Things like that tell a buyer you've done more than just touch up a few cosmetic issues before selling it says that you've really been caring for a house that's overall in better condition than a similar house without those touches.

When it comes time for me to move, I'm expecting to get the price of this thermostat back, so it's more of an investment than an expense. Of course, chances are I'll be investing the same money into a new thermostat for my next house, since I just can't live without it now.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I've only experienced one problem with it since I installed it, but I actually suspect that the furnace is to blame. Sadly, since I can't easily tell for sure, I have to play it safe and only award the product four stars. The display has occasionally gone dark on me even though I set it up to be constantly backlit. Considering all the advantages I listed above, though, I have no regrets about my purchasing decision. If anyone else can tell you that the problem I experienced was definitely due to the furnace, then consider this a five-star review for an excellent product.

Our office had 6 thermostats all different. They were all difficult or impossible to program and with 50% hike in Natural Gas prices expected, I talked the boss into buying these. It took about an hour to install and program all 6 t'stats. It was extremely easy and the programming is so intuitive I only had to look at the manual once to set it up for two program periods instead of 4 not something you'd need in a private home. This thermostat is first class! That is why I am ordering two more for my own home this week!!!

High Watt Heater Reviews

High Watt Heater

I just bought one of these to replace an identical one I'd purchased 20-25 years ago. The motor finally wore out after nearly daily use (during the cold season, which can be fairly long and occasionally severe in Oregon). It just quietly sits there, the thermostat maintaining whatever temp you like, year after year. It can really throw out the heat, too. I hardly ever have to turn the thermostat up over 1/4 of the way.

I'm going to find a replacement motor for my old one and keep it as a spare or put it in a different room. Probably be good for another 20 years.

It's just so nice to find something of quality that just works nowadays. I highly recommend this heater.

We have done over our basement several years ago into a lage family room. We have a wood burning stove there and have tried several small electric heaters when not wanting to build a fire. We purchased this heater with a 220 supply line. It works very well. It heats up the room quickly and then when you turn the thermostat down it only comes on as needed. It sits on carpet that does NOT heat up. I saw one that a friend had and he was very impressed so we are trying it. Have not yet received my electic bill since it has been installed only for about a week. Rochester New York

I got two of these about 15 years ago for heating a garage, and they were 10 years old when i got them. Mine are branded Rival but they are the same heater as this one. After 25 years one of the motors burned out this season, so I'm down to one. All in all I'd have to say that 25 years of winter operation in a dusty garage is pretty good performance.

As some of the other reviewers have noted, the fans are a bit noisy. The thermostat works well and seems to hold temperatures well. These units put out a lot of heat! I'm satisfied.

Honest reviews on High Watt Heater

The things I like best about the Fahrenheat PT268 are the industrial look and the fact that it produces a good amount of heat. I use it for my main heat source in my 950 square foot home, along with smaller 120 volt heaters to help warm other areas. Even though the fan is a little noisier than others I've tried, I can overlook that for the money I save by not operating my furnace. What I dislike most about the heater is the thermostat; it just doesn't have enough sensitivity to maintain a constant temperature. I don't care for a 3 degree fluctuation in the temperature. The manufacturer seriously needs to consider adding a digital thermostat to make this a great heater.

I used this unit with an attic fan to keep the attic area much cooler and take the load off the air conditioning. This is a set-it and forget-it device in an inconvenient spot, so reliability is important. This is a very simple unit so I would expect it to operate for many years. Installation is simple IF you are able to handle electrical connections safely, and competently.

My order arrived within the expected time window, and was well packaged and protected from damage during shipping.

This baby is big; 200lbs, heavy and solid, as it should be. The fire place is very realistic and hypnotic, as expected.

Be careful when sliding the fireplace into the cabinet it may scratch or ding the wood trim, but they thoughtfully included a felt tip touch-up pen just in case you make a ding or two. I did and the pen works just fine,

It is made to fit nicely into a corner location, if one chooses that.

Not too difficult to assemble, just take your time. Screw everything tight with a phillips head driver especially the four weird bolts that connect the top piece with the base. This is a very clever concealed construction technique that I have never seen before , but very effective. Two people would be a great help putting it together, as I said it's heavy. A great product, highly recommended, we love it.

Our shipment was received on the day promised with a phone call a couple days ahead from the shipping company confirming delivery. Wonderful... My husband was a little overwhelmed taking all the parts out but I suggested we start little but within a 1/2 hour we had it finished. Wonderful... We moved it into our spot plugged it in and began to enjoy the ambiance of a fireplace. Wonderful... The simulated flame and the glass beads looking like ambers burning. Wonderful... I highly recommend...

Best Deals on Dimplex Cheshire Media Console with 25 Inch Self-trimming Electric

As others have said, the heat is not strong, but I didn't need or expect much here in Florida. In reality, if it put out any more heat it would be too much, so if you just want a little heat in one room, this is great and even saves money since you won't have to turn on the Central heat just to get the one room up a couple of degrees. The other thing that is impressive is the Flame-box. It looks really nice and does seem like a real fire, but I would not refer to it as a "fireplace". it really doesn't look like a fireplace but rather like some type of gas fire rising from a bed of golden glass embers. Don't get me wrong it looks great, but unlike the picture, the output is white and golden yellow with no red in the "flames" or "embers".

As for a TV stand, it is very heavy duty and very heavy in weight too. It has no problem holding my 70lb TV and probably could hold heavier, but I think most flat screens weigh less and less so likely no issues. The instructions were also easy to follow and assembly was fast. The only negative is that the top shelf is attached with lightweight cam bolts, so if you tried to lift it by the top shelf I think it would break off. That may be obvious to you, but for me, I always grab the top to move things around, so I'm glad I thought about it instead of learning the hard way.

Lastly, the "Component shelf" is very small. This may not be an issue if you have the newer "micro-slim" components, but if you have the older electronics in big rectangle black metal boxes, you will only be able to fit one thing on the shelf.

Overall a great looking and working unit.

Focused on this brand because of Dimplex's reputation with electric fireplaces.

I was very pleasantly pleased with the media console.

It was solid wood beautifully finished and assembled without any trouble (about an hour).

It is heavy being solid wood, but can be moved fairly easily by one person.

It was delivered to my garage and I unpacked it there and carried the pieces in.

Very happy with the look. The heater is very low BTU but I was not looking for for a heater, just the look.

The remote works well and the heater can be turned off independently if you want.

My wife is happy so I am happy!

While checking Amazon in the course of recommending this fan to a friend, I was surprised by the mediocre rating people had given it and decided to add my experience to the reviews. Like Richard Shrum above, I'm confused about what fan some of the negative reviewers were talking about. A few of their comments don't seem to compute with the fan I own, which has 3720 marked on its frame, matches the picture above, and is listed on Lasco's website.

I've owned mine since April 2005 and have run it as a window fan (on low) from eight to eighteen hours a day, for about 325 days each year, and it still operates as well as it did on day one. With this kind of use, I've sort of expected something to go wrong or burn out, but nothing has. All I've had to do is turn it on, turn it off, and clean it every four or five months a fifteen minute chore.

As I was writing this, I got to wondering just what my use actually amounted to. Based on very conservative estimates, I figure my fan has run about 3700 hours each year, or about 12,200 hours since I bought it. Impressive as that figure is, get this since the fan runs at 635 RPM on the low setting, that means the fan's motor, bearing, and blade have revolved over 460 million times and still counting! (Check my math if you want, I sure did: 635 x 60 x 12200 = 464,820,000.)

So I think you can see why, for me, this Lasco 3720 has been what all appliances should be, but seldom are: simple, effective, dependable, and reasonably priced. Who knows, maybe there have been quality control problems or production changes since I bought mine. Nevertheless, the basic design has worked exceptionally well for me, and I don't think you should overlook this model if it looks like the meets your requirements.

This review is for: Lasko 3720 20" Box Fan

How on earth do you choose a box fan? Well really they mostly choose us don't they, we choose the first box we see. The product descriptions aren't much help, they mostly all say they are quiet, powerful, low cost to operate, etc. Are they really all that different from each other?

When looking for a replacement fan I found 2 of our fans were recalled in 2005 for fire hazard, so now I am replacing 3 fans. I guess in-plug mini-fuses became universal for a reason. Let's get started...

The 20" box fans we'll compare are:

A Aerospeed BX100

B Holmes HBF2002A

C Kenmore 32002

D Lasko 3720

E Lasko 3721

F Lasko 3723

G Lasko 3733

H Lasko B20201

DESIGN AND DETAILS:

---------------------

All have white fans and grills, gray enclosures, 245-260 square inch areas the blades pass through, and 70"-73" cords.

A Aerospeed BX100

Wavy grill (BX200/BX400 have other grills).

Fan speed dial is on TOP.

Little smaller enclosure (you wouldn't notice unless side-by-side), though the blades pass through an area near to the highest square inches of the bunch.

The in-plug mini-fuse is easily replaceable if it blows.

B Holmes HBF2002A (Target)

Simple grid grill, blades have circle connecting them.

Fan speed dial and plug connection are on the MIDDLE OF THE BACK. This is not ideal if bringing air into the house from a window and not an attractive option when exhausting out.

The in-plug mini-fuse is easily replaceable if it blows.

Looks exactly like the Kenmore 32002.

NEGATIVE: At top speed it vibrates like crazy, enough to move itself.

C Kenmore 32002 (Sears/Kmart)

Simple grid grill, blades have circle connecting them.

Fan speed dial and plug connection are on the MIDDLE OF THE BACK. This is not ideal if bringing air into the house from a window and not an attractive option when exhausting out.

The in-plug mini-fuse is easily replaceable if it blows.

Looks exactly like Holmes HBF2002A.

D Lasko 3720

Circular grill, blue logo on the front, blue speed dial.

Fan speed dial is on TOP.

Lasko promotes this as their fan of choice to PUT IN A WINDOW because it is more RAIN RESISTANT (not weatherproof).

All Lasko in-plug mini-fuses are not replaceable.

This is a wider (4 3/4") and thus fairly STABLE fan enclosure compared to some of their models.

Should be mostly the same as 3721, except this has the blue logo.

E Lasko 3721

Circular grill, blue speed dial.

Should be mostly the same as 3720, except no blue logo.

F Lasko 3723

Circular grill, blue speed dial.

Fan speed dial is on TOP.

Although it physically LOOKS LIKE one, this is NOT one of the rain resistant ones like the 3270/3721 (larger size, blue dial, etc.).

All Lasko in-plug mini-fuses are not replaceable.

This is a wider (4 3/4") and thus fairly STABLE fan enclosure compared to some of their models.

LOOKS just like the 3721, larger enclosure and no blue logo. But again not a rain resistant model.

NEGATIVE: Rattles a little at all speeds

G Lasko 3733

Simple grid grill.

Fan speed dial is on TOP.

All Lasko in-plug mini-fuses are not replaceable.

NEGATIVE: Shakes a lot at settings 2&3.

NEGATIVE: Listeners thought the hum tone was more annoying than the others.

H Lasko B20201

Simple grid grill.

Fan speed dial is on TOP.

All Lasko in-plug mini-fuses are not replaceable.

NEGATIVE: LOUD at highest setting, listeners thought annoyingly so.

NEGATIVE: Little more of an airplane hum/whine sound.

"(yelling over a fan) THEY SAY THEY ARE ALL QUIET!"

aka NOISE:

-----------

First some things that may help you get more out of this section on noise..

It takes +10dBA to be perceived as a doubling in LOUDNESS.

It takes just under +6dBA (5.85dBA) to be perceived as 50% (half-again) LOUDER.

It takes just over +3dBA (3.22dBA) to be perceived as 25% (quarter-again) LOUDER.

(Note: When you read that +3dBA roughly doubles "sound pressure" that's different than perceived loudness)

Most sounds 50dbA on up have more of a potential to annoy, for example when while trying to talk, and especially starting at 55dbA (highly subjective, but gives you an idea).

Okay, now onto the comparison..

SUBJECTIVELY listeners liked the WHOOSH of air sound much more than that of the HUM of a rotating object. I noted next to the fan descriptions above which ones listeners felt had a sound they didn't like as much, regardless of loudness.

POWER USAGE:

--------------

We see below that the difference in yearly electrical cost is fairly small, and of course much less than air conditioning. If a little additional on-going expense for a fan makes this much less costly alternative to air conditioning more palatable, then that's probably a good investment.

However, being green is an important factor for some folks, so here below is a comparison in electricity usage I measured.

AIR VELOCITY:

--------------

The 5' and 10' were measured straight ahead from fans. The fan surface measurement was done roughly 1/2 way up the fan blades right against the grill.

On fan surface air velocity half-way up a blade at one point is, of course, just a sample point, and air velocity at a distance can be greatly affected by the degree of focus/dispersal. Nevertheless, I hope this air velocity info helps us get a better sense for the differences between the fans.

SELECTING A FAN:

------------------

I removed these fans for excessive shaking, rattling, noise, and/or hum/whine: (B)Holmes,(F)3723,(G)3733,(H)B20201.

I then removed one fan for the center placement of dial and plug connection due to non-ideal position for window placement: (C)Kenmore.

This leaves these to choose from:

(A) Aerospeed BX100

(D) Lasko 3720

(E) Lasko 3721

Some other little Aerospeed BX100 (Fan A) comparative details:

Option of lowest air velocity and noise would be of interest if someone will be very near.

Replaceable in-plug fuse in case it blows, the Lasko ones aren't replaceable.

Classic all-white front if you prefer that (like 3721 but not like 3720 with its blue logo).

The option of a little quieter at the very low end of the loudness range.

Lower electricity usage.

Lasko 3720 and 3721 (Fans D&E) for their part give the option of a little more air velocity at the very high end of the velocity range.

The Lasko 3720 and 3721 also look a bit different than the Aerospeed BX100, so looks may be another deciding factor for you.

Note that for any given loudness or air velocity they overlap in, these models have very similar sound/velocity profiles. That is, when comparing points where air velocities are roughly equal for the fans (at the same distances), the loudness difference is so small I can hardly tell which is louder and the numbers support that.

So there it is, my favorite three and some ways to compare them.

SUMMARY:

----------

In the end these are just classic 20" box fans which are more similar than they are different. Hopefully whichever you choose won't be a lemon and will work for many years. Perhaps somewhere above you'll find information you can use to choose the best fan to meet your needs.

Whatever you get, if it rattles, shakes like crazy, makes an annoying hum, etc., try exchanging it for another, don't settle, there are less annoying fans out there and you'll be listening to them for many years to come.

I hope this helps someone :).

SHOPPING NOTE:

----------------

Millions of 20" box fans are sold in the U.S. every year. Review sites cannot get anywhere near a statistically valid user sample, so although we learn from comments about DEFECTS and EARLY FAILURE, I suggest not filtering out a model based entirely on them.

There are also old reviews that have already been acted on by manufacturers to improve the product or fix a description, thus the review may no longer be accurate.

That said, defect and early failure comments with details are great for FEEDBACK TO THE MANUFACTURER (or author) and to help us all much more quickly SPOT SIMILAR ISSUES and thus get an exchange while it is quick and easy to do. Again though, I wouldn't use them to filter out a model entirely.

I have just purchased my second Lasko 3720 fan from "Wal-corp". I had two older model Lasko Fans that had been running 24/7 for about 3 years now. Never had any issue from them in the last 3 years, every so often I would take them outside and blow them out with high pressure air. Recently, one of the older models got to where is was difficult for it to start once the motor had cooled. The barrings were worn. The fan would still start after slowly turning for a few seconds, but I didn't want to take the chance of the fan not starting and the motor sitting there locked especially if I were away from the house and the power had dropped.

I decided to replace the fan and found the Lasko 3720 box fan, bought it and brought it home. I immediately noticed that is was quieter than the older model and still moved the same amount of air, if not a little more. Plus it has the "safety fused" plug which is a nice added feature. After running it for a week, I decided to spend another $20 to purchase a second 3270 to replace the second older model that still works, but for the purpose that this 3720 model is quieter.

Overall I am very satisfied with the Lasko Line of fans and this paticular model, the 3720! Worth every penny.

I started using these fans in my barn 3 years ago and all are still operating with no problem. I use them to cool my horses and they are in the windows of each stall. Trust me, they are exposed to dust, rain and wind and not to mention curious horses. They have been knocked out of the windows and still keep on working. Excellent product!!!

I bought this fan about a year ago at a local store where I could see it before buying it. It was inexpensive and appeared well-constructed. Permanent split, capacitor motor with a sturdy cast-aluminum motor housing and a hefty 5uF 250 VAC capacitor mounted beneath. Decent fit and finish everyhere.

But despite appearances, the fan failed this week. I turned it on when I went to bed, and awoke to silence in the morning. I'm the sort to open things and see why they failed, and in this case it was the thermal protective fuse inside the motor. The evening it failed it was running in an open window with temps in the 70s and there was no reason for the motor to get that hot. The blades are clean and turn freely. I used the fan only about 8 weeks of evenings last year not in the winter, and not when the summer heat called for A/C. So this fan self destructed after maybe 50 evenings of use in moderate temps.

The thermal fuse is non-resettable and soldered in place; my time to repair it would be more than the fan's worth, and so would be the cost of return shipping to try to claim the 1-year warranty. I think I am going to try a different brand, because I was not expecting a box fan to be something to replace every season.

Received my fire place in two shippments. Was a little worried that It wasn't clear that there were two boxes. received the fire box first and after speaking with the manufacture (which was no help no one avaialable that could help in customer service). The second shipment arrived with the actual fire place but with no instructions. Once it was together it was beautiful and works perfect. I would recomment to others especially because of the price..

I bought this unit to replace the one on my Amana Model SRD21VW-P1315501WW. The refridgerator called out for a Defrost Thermostat R0161088 which is the same sensor unit with a large harness and several connectors which cost $34 and required running wires through the back wall of the freezer compartment.

My freezer kept getting stuck in a defrost cycle (ice cubes melt and then freezing back into a big chunk). To test, I cut the old one out of the existing harness, leaving about 4" inches on the thermostat. I then put the T-Stat in ice water to check for continuity and removed it to if it opened at around 40-50 degrees. The thermostat failed so I ordered this one as a replacement. Crimped on male and female connectors to the harness and the new thermostat and voila! My refridgerator was back in business.

Exactly what I needed. Amana fridge was building up frost/ice in the back of the freezer. After melting with a hair dryer, it worked okay for two weeks, then all the ice/frost built up again. The thermostat was not allowing the defrost heater to kick in (once a day) to melt the ice. This thermostat fit the bill and cost way less than calling a repair person. Identical to the original.

A third the price of store in town, worked perfectly. The big repair store in town wanted $50, I think not.

This totally solved my problem as my Amana fridge kept icing up (in the freezer compartment). Quick international shipping to Montreal, Qc without hidden cost.

This was an exact replacement for our Kenmore Refrigerator. (Fridge over Freezer unit) our evaporator coils were severely icing up, because the defrost heater would not come on. The defrost thermostat was defective, not allowing the heater to thaw the ice. This Defrost Thermostat was the answer. A cheap $10 fix.
