For Southern homeowners who need heat in the morning and air-conditioning in the afternoon, the 8466 is great! Mine has been working for more than a week and I love it! It changes between heat and air automatically, alleviating any manual switching! Since it is universal, one can choose heating/air-conditioning or a heat pump with the flip of a switch! I didn't need to replace my seven year-old Aprilaire 8365, but I needed a unit that my wife could program easily, and the 8466 fit the bill! No touch screen, just buttons and a large, brightly lit screen, and for the price, you can't beat it! However, if you want your heating temperature close to your air-conditioning temperature or you don't want your aux heat(higher bills)on in the mornings, you will need Technical Support help. Believe me, that is not a problem since their Customer Service is superb! Very quick response time and they are very thorough! It is a great company to work with!

I've had this fridge for about two weeks now and it's been really great. I bought it for my office and mostly to prevent me from eating out, so I had a few criteria. First, it had to be fairly small footprint, but large enough to store a good amount of real food, such as leftovers, some fruit & veg, and materials to make snacks with such as PB&J. Second, it had to have a real compressor, one that will cool well below the ambient temperature as the office building gets quite warm in the summer and I really hate when food goes bad. Third, I didn't want the unit to give up a bunch of space to a can delivery system, since I don't drink usually have canned drinks around. So, that's how I ended up at the SPT, it's the only one I found that fits all these criteria. I'd never heard of SPT before buying this fridge and quite honestly, if it had the same features as all the other fridges I'd seen (researched for two weeks), I probably wouldn't have bought it. However, given that it had everything I was looking for, I decided to take a chance and I'm glad I did.

First, the aesthetics; it's a vertical rectangular shape, modestly attractive looking, basically it looks like a small black fridge with a stainless door. I was a bit surprised at the size, it's quite a bit taller than I was expecting and the black does makes it look a little monolithic. The unit actually looks bigger than it really is, I was shocked to find that it fits nicely under my desk. The Stainless Steel finish on the door isn't quite as polished as the vastly more expensive full-size GE fridge I've got at home, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked, especially considering the price! This unit is solidly built and is surprisingly lightweight, which was great for moving it around the first day, figuring out where it should go. The door, as shipped, opens on the left, but it looked like a fairly simple job to switch sides (haven't needed to) and SPT included extra plastic inserts for covering up the holes should this be required, a nice touch. Door was protected with plastic film and all three shelves and the ice maker were taped down to prevent them sliding around.

On to functionality; the fridge works! It got the four iced teas I put in it ice cold within only a few hours of being plugged in and I've got the unit set at 4, the factory preset median setting and it works great. Stuff down low in the fridge was kept nicely cold, the ham I put up near the icemaker had frost in the package, but the meat wasn't frozen. Note to self, meat goes lower in the fridge. The lower door shelf holds four Honest Tea bottles, but the wire holder swings out to hold bigger items. The top door shelf is a little shorter and has a fixed bar, so PB & J go up there. Inside shelves are made of white plastic-coated wire and well spaced. The freezer holds at least a trio of standard sized juice boxes; it's wide, but not very tall, so low items work best. One other extremely cool thing is, the energy consumption rating for this fridge is actually below the lowest range on the chart. This makes it extremely efficient, which isn't a factor for me, but I can see this being a plus for someone being challenged about its power consumption. Given how well it keeps my food cold, it must be very well insulated to achieve such low consumption.

Things of note:

1) This unit only has one leveling foot, at the front right corner. This is probably not a problem for most people, but my office floor is as flat as a Ruffles potato chip, so levelling the fridge required shims under the front left foot.

2) Power cord is only about 5Ft long, once again, not a problem in most offices, but I would really have liked a longer one. Extension cord to the rescue.

3) Unit isn't silent, but it's not loud either. Some people have complained about other fridges being loud, I don't find this one to be unpleasant, it's like low-level white noise in the background. If I get in early, I can hear the fridge, but once the office wakes up, it's inaudible.

4) Unit came very well packed in an enormous box, strapped and taped closed. I was impressed, but I did have to lie the fridge on its side to get it out of the box.

5) This hasn't been a problem, but the manual says that should the fridge lose power, it won't come back on automatically.

This turned out to be the perfect refrigerator and I'll try to answer some questions about posted concerns.

Noise when you first turn on the fridge and perhaps the first 24 hours, the refrigerator will cycle quite a bit and the compressor will make interesting noises. not bad, just different. once the refrigerator has had it's break in period, the compressor only turns on every 30 minutes or so for a very short time I don't notice it anymore and the compressor is not loud at all.

How soon after the item is turned on that you can place things inside within two hours the refrigerator will be cold however, placing warm items in there will require additional times for the refrigerator's temperature to level out it's been that way ever since they have been making refrigerators.

The stainless on the door is beautiful and we are delighted that we spent the extra money it looks great in our office see video.

Finally, it's by far the best unit for the money and we have no complaints.

The video will provide an idea about how much can be stored inside we have removed one of the shelves to leave more room for bottles and cans.

After my son was born, we wanted a mini fridge for the bedroom so that my husband wouldn't have to run downstairs to get milk out of the fridge in the middle of the night. It quickly got upgraded to also storing bottles of water and fraps. It does a wonderful job at keeping everything nice and cold. The interior space is rather spacious. We typically have around 12 fraps, 15 bottles of water and one or two bottles in the fridge at all times with room to spare.

Some people have complained that this fridge is loud but I don't agree. Whenever the compressor turns on, of course you can hear it, but it's not very bothersome and doesn't wake up our baby despite being 5 feet away. The stainless finish looks good and doesn't seem to get fingerprint smudges which is great.

I want to point out that the description of the product is incorrect. It mentions that it comes with a transparent vegetable drawer with a glass shelf which isn't true.

Overall this is a great mini fridge at a very reasonable price.

I bought this to put under my desk at the office. It fits perfectly and cannot be seen by others. What I love the most is what I don't have... noise. Unlike my last minifridge the unit operates very quietly and keeps items appropriately cool. I was surprised to find that the freezer compartment actually keeps items frozen.

I bought this fridge a couple weeks ago and it looks nice in person, came very nicely packaged with no effort needed to put it together. The inside smelled a bit at first of plastic but I left the door open for a couple days and the smell went away. After I plugged it in, it got very cold after just a couple hours and keeps cold well. My biggest complaint is the noise. For the most part, it's quiet in the maintenance mode but when it is turning on to cool itself, it makes loud clanking sounds that I can hear from my second floor and I have the unit on the first floor. I researched other fridges and seems like noise is always an issue so I guess this is a decent fridge if you can put up with the noise.

I just bought one of these to replace an identical one I'd purchased 20-25 years ago. The motor finally wore out after nearly daily use (during the cold season, which can be fairly long and occasionally severe in Oregon). It just quietly sits there, the thermostat maintaining whatever temp you like, year after year. It can really throw out the heat, too. I hardly ever have to turn the thermostat up over 1/4 of the way.

I'm going to find a replacement motor for my old one and keep it as a spare or put it in a different room. Probably be good for another 20 years.

It's just so nice to find something of quality that just works nowadays. I highly recommend this heater.

We have done over our basement several years ago into a lage family room. We have a wood burning stove there and have tried several small electric heaters when not wanting to build a fire. We purchased this heater with a 220 supply line. It works very well. It heats up the room quickly and then when you turn the thermostat down it only comes on as needed. It sits on carpet that does NOT heat up. I saw one that a friend had and he was very impressed so we are trying it. Have not yet received my electic bill since it has been installed only for about a week. Rochester New York

I got two of these about 15 years ago for heating a garage, and they were 10 years old when i got them. Mine are branded Rival but they are the same heater as this one. After 25 years one of the motors burned out this season, so I'm down to one. All in all I'd have to say that 25 years of winter operation in a dusty garage is pretty good performance.

As some of the other reviewers have noted, the fans are a bit noisy. The thermostat works well and seems to hold temperatures well. These units put out a lot of heat! I'm satisfied.

Honest reviews on High Watt Heater

The things I like best about the Fahrenheat PT268 are the industrial look and the fact that it produces a good amount of heat. I use it for my main heat source in my 950 square foot home, along with smaller 120 volt heaters to help warm other areas. Even though the fan is a little noisier than others I've tried, I can overlook that for the money I save by not operating my furnace. What I dislike most about the heater is the thermostat; it just doesn't have enough sensitivity to maintain a constant temperature. I don't care for a 3 degree fluctuation in the temperature. The manufacturer seriously needs to consider adding a digital thermostat to make this a great heater.

I bought this model from Home Depot on clearance to warm up my basement last winter. It was a very long winter, and I ended up keeping it on 24/7 for almost 8 months. There was an immediate improvement even in the chilliest corner as soon as I switched it on, and the thermostat option was very helpful. Just recently the power light started flickering, and after that the overheat alarm started going off. I feel I got more than I paid for and so I hunted down the same model again for this winter!

Bought one of these about 2 weeks ago, seemed to work well at first. A few hours later the fan was making an annoying chirping noise off and on.

Fast forward 2 weeks, and I smell a burning electronic smell but can't tell where it's coming from. A few minutes pass and suddenly I see my shiny new space heater shooting sparks like crazy. Luckily I was across the room, and quickly unplugged it, otherwise it likely would have started a fire.

I bought a cheap one under the assumption they're pretty simple products, and anything should do the trick, but apparently "not burning your house down" is something you have to pay a little extra for.

Honest reviews on Patton Electric 1500W Radiant Heater PRH11

I have been using one of these for seven (yes, 7) years at work and it's showing no signs of giving up the ghost. It runs almost all day every day including summer because the AC at work is too cold for me. I actually have another one waiting in the wings in case this does finally quit and am now buying one to replace a 9-year-old old Maxi-Heat in my bathroom. To those who let heaters run unattended (as in when you're sleeping)... you just shouldn't. If you must, get an oil-filled radiator type they're much safer to leave unattended

0 stars, unit needs to be retested by UL.

Well last night I woke up and felt cold. But the heater was still making noise. I got up and all the elements were off, there was a funny smell but the fan was still blowing cool air out. I toggled the switch and nothing would work.

So, I unplugged the heater, got my flashlight and screwdriver and looked inside. I took it apart(fan side) and the wire connected to the element had literally melted through the connection point and there were signs of burnt plastic on the wire and the connection point.

Basically there was a mini fire inside the unit while I was SLEEPING.I cannot explain how uncomfortable this knowledge made me feel today. I got lucky, but someone else might not.Someones kids may not, please avoid this product. I would never recommend this unit to anyone. Please don't buy this unit it quite literally could burn your house down while you sleep. Btw, the overheat alarm never went off, I don't understand how this unit is still on the market.

I am currently sitting in a cold room tonight because I have no heater down here atm. I need to get one tomorrow. If you have any question I will try to answer them.

As soon as I figure out how I will be reporting this to UL and see what they have to say, I have seen a few other negative fire related reviews about this product online.

Great product, it is made in the USA. Works great. keeps my temps consistent (+/4*), I use it along with a fan speed controller to lower the noise of the fan when needed. Overall a great product.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

So this controller works exactly as advertised. I use it to control 1 small 8" duct fan and a large 10" centrifugal fan that cools down my home greenhouse at "night". During the "day" this controller works in my space as an emergency limit switch should my ventilation / ac fail to lower the temperature below 90F. Quotations around "night" and "day" because in my case "night" and "day" are reversed in my greenhouse as is the case for many plant growers.

If you are thinking of buying this you should know a few things.

(1) To control larger fans capable of being speed controlled only (>400CFM) that operate for longer periods I recommend the TMP-VSc unit over this one. The TMP-VSc automatically winds up and down the fan based on how close you are getting to the target temperature value. The VSc unit is only a little more expensive than the DNe, and in this specific scenario it will save you $ on your electric.

*Most in-line duct fans can not be speed controlled. Some lower quality centrifugal fans such as C.A.P.'s valueline are very noisy when speed controlled. Vortex fans are not noisy and can be speed controlled, just my experience.

(2) You must consider your source air temperature (T_source), source humidity, and set temperature (T_set). FOR GREENHOUSES ALWAYS KEEP T_SETT_outside and the outside air has undesirably low humidity either your going to put your humidifier through a workout or your space is going to get too dry or both.

Got this to automate the day/night temperature differential in my grow tent. It does a good job. I've got it connected to a heater at the moment and it does a great job. I gave it only 3 stars because there is only a 3-4 degree F variance when I place it on 7. Other than that minor problem this is a great unit!

Honest reviews on REFURBISHED! C.A.P TMP-DNE Day/Night Blower A/C Fan Temperature

Not much to be said about this controller. Arrived on time and works great. No rocket science involved with setting this baby up. Have my 6" inline fan plugged in to it and use it to vent hot air from my room. You can also plug an a/c unit into it if you wish instead of a fan.Either way it's worth every penny.

This unit is exactly what I needed for keeping a garage above freezing, and for warming it up occasionally for work. It is adequate for a well-insulated double garage. The heater, while very basic in design, is of good quality. (Made in the USA!) I emailed a question about adding a remote thermostat to the manufacturer and received a prompt and helpful reply. It pays to shop around online, because the same unit sells for a range of prices under slightly different model numbers--check the specs. The local big-box home improvement stores have nothing comparable.

I've had this heater for over 2 years now and have had no problems with it whatsoever. This is very well built product. All the connections are very solid and secure, using heavy duty materials. The heat settings are adjustable via easy to access jumpers. I have it on the factory standard setting and it heats my 20' x 20' garage in less than 10 minutes. Highly endorsed by me.

Have been using this heater for a month or so. It meets all our needs. No odor or excessive heat. Very quiet, and looks good. We are using this in an insulated sun room... about 300 sq ft., the room is still very pleasant even when the temps were below zero last week.

Honest reviews on 240V GARAGE HEATER (Fahrenheat/Marley FUH54)

Electric Garage Heater

Step 1: I wanted to work comfortably in an attached 22 x 22 (9 foot high drywalled ceiling) garage in the winter. Figuring I'd need lots of heat, I bought a portable 40,000 btu propane heater. It exhausts lots of carbon monoxide, so you have to partially open a door or window to the outside to let [cold] fresh air in -which seriously lowers heater efficiency. The heater warmed the garage, but the approach wasn't satisfactory -i.e., the fumes were so bad, I stopped using it. It was also very loud, like the hissing of escaping air from a large air boat; plus, when the propane tank ran out, the heater stopped; each time you needed heat, you had to drag it out, connect it to the tank, leave plenty of floor space around this self-contained-blowtorch; put it all away when you were done; and of course find a place to store it. Also, there was no thermostat. All in all, a royal pain in the keister. (Google search on: "propane heater carbon monoxide" to read about the serious risk of carbon monoxide from propane heaters.)

Step 2: I bought one of these electric heaters. It has only half the btu's of the propane unit, but there is no need to open a window or door for ventilation. It also has a thermostat, so you can set it (to a number, not a temperature), and come back 30 minutes later and be in relative comfort. On days in the low 30s, it will keep the garage in the 60s, which is fine for working.. (My attached garage ceiling and 2 walls are insulated.) My heater is mounted high up on a wall, but it can also be mounted to hang from the ceiling, as long as the clearances laid out in the instructions, are followed. In any case, once mounted, it is out of the way, and always ready. There's nothing to haul out or set up when you need heat -just turn it on. When done, just turn it off. This heater needs a dedicated 30-amp 220-volt circuit. You wouldn't want to use this every day, due to electricity costs, but for occasional use, it is perfect.

My advice is to skip step 1.

Note: As of this writing, Amazon sells this heater under several names:

Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount Automatic 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4

Fahrenheat/Marley FUH54 Suspended Electric Heater

Dayton G73 Electric Garage Heater

Multi-Watt Horizontal Downflow Unit Heater With Thermostat 208/240v

These are all the same heater; it is manufactured by Marley Engineered Products of Bennettsville, South Carolina.

My garage is about 7' tall, 20' long and 10' wide, so not a big garage by any means, but enough to do work in. I set out to find the most powerful heater I could reasonably install, for a reasonable amount of money. So far this heater heats up the garage in a few minutes which is perfect, and judging by other comments here it has no problem with larger garages either. I have yet to do a proper degree/minute study but I will save that for when it is really cold outside.

The manual that comes with the unit has some restrictions on where you can mount it, such as spacing away from walls and ceiling so make sure you have a fair amount of room, or a cleared away area to place it.

The only gripe with this heater is that it doesn't come with any wiring hardware at all. I can understand the plug doesn't come with it, but it would be nice if a pigtail came out of the box that you could splice your own plug onto. I can understand why they don't, since they can't assume their pigtail would be long enough for your installation.

I ended up buying perhaps $60 extra stuff to wire this heater into my garage, which includes putting a receptacle on the wall and a plug onto the end of the wire I ran out of the heater unit. It's something to keep in mind if you have a budget. On the plus side, I now have a 240V outlet in my garage that other things can be plugged into in the future.

Stay away from this unit. First the description is wrong. It does NOT come with a porcelain cookwell it is teflon metal. Second there is no insulation b/t the heating element and the outside stainless housing of the cooker. So as hot as it gets inside it gets outside. No matter what the temperature is set on. Grab the plastic handles and come to close to the exterior stainless -BURN! Try to adjust the temperature, grab the knob with two fingers, slip or come to close to the outside of the cookers body, BURN! I am not talking about the black cooking pot that is inside or the black outer ring the lid sits on, I am talking about the stainless body that the handles, temperature knob and markings are on. How can the handles hold up to that much heat w/out melting. Can you imagine the handle on the lid?!? Further more, I had a hard time keeping the cord away from the body of the unit. I give it one cook and the cord would melt.

I am not making this up. I called Nesco, they answered immediately, 5 stars! However, the woman that was on the phone knew NOTHING! She put me on hold 5 times and never once addressed the issue. She kept telling me I needed to put it in the garage and cook with it there and asking if I had completed the burn off period and this was normal during burn off. No matter how many times I told her the burn off had been done, she kept harping on the burn off and how it "BURNED" (exact wording) the insulation off of the housing during the burn off period. I finally got snippy and said "please just answer my one and only question. Is the unit going to be this hot every time it is used with the housing so hot it can not be touched?" Hold yet again! 2 minutes later YES! The unit gets that hot every time it is used, but wait for it..... "people don't normally cook that hot, 350 degrees is too high, if you cook at a lower temperature you should be fine". Interesting answer to a unit with a temperature setting of 450 degrees......

Luckily Amazon is the greatest online market place in the world! They took it back no questions asked! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!! There are other units that do the exact same thing and actually have insulation between the heating element and the housing. If you are ok with the heat on the housing, just remember the item description is WRONG....

We gave our old Nesco roaster to our son. Bought the Stainless steel model 4818-24PR.

Worked just like our 20 year old Nesco. Some reviews' claimed cover was very light weight. It is, as was our old cover. This cover had an extra fold around the edge of the cover which makes it a little stiffer. Don't see any problem with the lightness of the cover. As noted in the burn-in instructions. Do not leave the cover on the roaster when heating the first time at high heat and do this outside as this burns off any oil film and the roaster does smoke some. The sides of the roaster WILL get hot no matter how much insulation is in it. 500 degrees for over an hour? DA? There were some concerns about the roaster pan not be porcelain. This model has sprayed on porcelain enamel as described in the booklet. All said and done--Cooked an very good turkey with our Nesco roaster.

Best Deals on Nesco 18-Quart Professional Roaster Oven, Stainless Steel Base

I have owned 3 other Nesco roasters in the last 12 years, and this is by far the worst. The unit wasn't level which made one end burn more than the other. I say burn "more" than the other end because this unit cooked so hot, that it burned both ends of the roaster, the food, the cooking well and even blackened the cooking rack! The cooking well looked warped and the unit itself looked warped in the inside from the heat. And I had turned the temperature way down to cook my meat, but it was still too hot.

The lid was disappointingly thin and flimsy, and the cooking well was made out of thin metal also. Needless to say, I returned the roaster.

I have to say that with each model that I have purchased, in my opinion, the quality has declined. My last unit died within the first month after a couple of uses, and I had to pay to ship it back to Nesco to be fixed. Then, the unit died again within a year. My previous model also died within a year and had to be replaced.

After being a loyal Nesco customer for the last 12+ years, I am done. I have bought another brand of roaster figuring it couldn't be any worse than the Nesco. I have contacted the Nesco customer service about my complaints, but they made it clear they weren't concerned.

Honest reviews on Nesco 18-Quart Professional Roaster Oven, Stainless Steel Base

I looked at the various Nesco roasters. I was originally looking at the more sophisticated slow cookers like the ninja and the cuisinart multi 3 in 1. By studying the reviews (and I mean study as some with low reviews not only have axes to grind, but some are also addicted to getting 'you helped someone' remarks.

Anyway, several talked about the problems of the non stick material chipping, peeling, etc on many items.

Plus, with these high tech slow cookers, they are small. They cannot handle a big bird or ham, for instance.

I started looking into these roasters and see that not only can they roast a who ville who beast, they can also slow cook, steam, bake bread and do all sorts of stuff.

So, I started to study these guys in detail. I read about how people complained about the breaking in process with the Nesco roasters. This turned me away. I looked at every other makers products and read their reviews. People talked about uneven legs, warping of cheap metal, severely inaccurate heating, and so on.

On one website, a reviewer said, some thing like ' If you want a disposable one or two time use roaster, this will do (referring to whatever brand I was reading about), but if you want something that will last, get the Nesco with the stainless steel cookwell.

So, basically, I went in a big circle back to the Nesco.

Now, check this out. He was recommending the more expensive model that has the stainless steel cookwell. They advertise that model as going to 450 degrees and this one as 425 degrees. The other model also has a thin layer of some kind of coating over the stainles for easy clean.

Two things. While on the web they say this model goes only to 425, probaably to get us to buy the more expensive one, This model goes to 450, and from what i've read, the thin layer of enamel cracks on the more expensive one and you can imagine how crappy that will look when the grease gets in those cracks.

Check this out. At the moment I bought things. this model, at about $65.00 and the stainless steel cookwell at $58.+ came to a total of about $3.22 or so above the price of $122.+ they wanted for the other model.

So, what I am trying to say is that for about $3.00 I got not only the roaster with the stainless steel cookwell, but the porcelain cookwell for about three dollars.

So, here is my plan. I can use the porcelain cookwell for my slow cooking, gooey sticky stuff, and have the stainless steel for the high temp cooking that may cause the cracking and peeling of the supposed non stick type products.

I can now spend the time slow cooking, say beans in the porcelain pot, and then removing it to put in the stainless cookwell for a big ham.

The three serve wells fit nicely in either cookwell and hold a mess o grub in each for the occasion.

Enjoy!

I ordered this because I wanted the porcelain cookwell, but they sent the Teflon coated model. The 4818-25PR is the model with the TEFLON coating. I told amazon about this but I doubt they will fix it.(And now 5 months later I see they have not). These are nice roasters, but I Don't enjoy eating teflon. The Teflon coated model also has the incorrect model number listed.

We bought this because we have a gas stove in our reckroom and didn't want anything that we had to program because we don't have the stove on all the time. We couldn't find it in any of the retail stores so we were glad to find it here on Amazon.
