Our 26-year old Payne furnace recently experienced failure of the Solid State Time Delay Relay during a power brownout. Despite our efforts to quickly shut off the AC and pull the plug on the furnace, the damage to the HH84AA009 fan control board was already done. While several websites offer more expensive products that claim to be original replacements, a quick glance at site photos reveals that they are not. Everything available differs substantially from the original board. Hence, I chose this less expensive replacement part. Furthermore, this same board fits a broad range of different furnace brands.

Fortunately, the manufacturer's website (http://www.icmcontrols.com/Fan-Blower-Control-replacement-for-OEM-models-including-Carrier-CES0110019-and-HH84AAx-series-control-boards-Prodview.html) has the installation instructions with wiring diagrams so you can study the product in detail before deciding to purchase it.

The only issue I encountered in the installation instructions concerned the resistor R18. For some installations the lead(s) to this resistor should be cut, for others (including mine) it should not. So, how does one determine whether to cut or not? If all else fails, try installing the board without cutting and if that fails to work properly, cut R18. If you would like to take the proper action with R18 before installing, you need to study how your thermostat works. For natural gas furnaces, thermostats simply connect the 24 VAC supplied by the furnace on terminal "R" to the the controller's terminal "W" to start the burner and the blower. For air conditioning, there are two possible methods used by thermostats. If the "intelligence" is in the thermostat, then it will connect "R" to "Y" which turns on the compressor unit; Simultaneously, the thermostat connects terminal "R" to "G" to energize the blower. Other thermostats let the fan controller board (ICM275) provide the "intelligence" and the thermostat only connects "R" to "Y", relying on the fan controller to detect this and simultaneously energize the blower. For this second case, "intelligence" provided by ICM275, you should cut the lead(s) to R18.

this saved me over $500 which is what AC company was going to charge to troubleshoot and replace this board.

This controller took 15 minutes to install and worked as soon as power was turned on. It was an easy replacement for my 25 year old controller with a bad relay.

Received the item from the seller within the promised time frame. The controller came with complete installation instructions that made removal and replacement of the defective board staightforward; no special tools or experience required. The ease of replacement made the cost savings over a HVAC repairman's visit and local priced replacement parts even more enjoyable.

This heater is super strong and powerful. It's amazing how quickly it heats up my ENTIRE apartment. I've had 2 other small heaters and when I got this one I was seriously impressed with the quality. It's way stronger and warmer than any other heater I've had. I used it for about 3 winters and it was still going strong until my puppy chewed through the cord. Now I'm on the lookout for another one. I haven't been able to find this heater in stores so I'm going to have to purchase it online. I won't settle for any other heater because I know this one is the best. It's the best heater for this price. You won't be disappointed!

Sunbeam SCH4062 Ceramic Space Heater for Small Room This is a very good little heater! We are using two of them to heat rather large rooms, thus reducing our reliance on the central heating system in our house. The heater is easy to operate, with two speeds and a thermostat that shuts down the system when the desired temperature is reached. So far, we haven't had any problems with the heaters have been using them for about two months.

I recently purchased this item but was hesitant on reviews from others. Needless to say Im glad I bought this one. Heat is awesome, thermostat is accurate and its fairly quite compared to others I have tried. All in all this heater has done what others couldn't do which is heat my living room taking the chill out of the air. And from were Im from it goes to -40c. Good job Sunpentown and I even ordered another one for the basement, just a different model.

Heats up quickly. Use it downstairs and it warms up the top rooms. The filter does pull out dust and stuff in the air. I bought it because I have asthma. Price was better than the home improvement stores.

This item works really good, it is a little difficult to program, the manufacturer did contact with the info needed to run this device. Cleans the air and has very good heating.

Honest reviews on Sunpentown Tower Ceramic Heater with Ionizer SH-1508

i bought this product to save money on my gas bill, that was achieved. i fell in love with this heater because of the timer and how quickly it starts to heat the room. my last heater took a while for it to get warm itself before the air came out hot. this heater is helping me out a lot, especially after we just faced Blizzard Nemo.

The heater worked great the first month; however, now it randomly turns off and have to completely power down and let it sit a few minutes and then restart it. It's as if there's a fuse or breaker inside that triggers and needs to reset. It is in a well-ventilated area that is not warm with full power. Just does not hold up to the winter....

The Danby DKC5811BSL 5.8 cu ft kegerator is a very good unit for the price. Plus it is American made! That is not the case for the majority of inexpensive kegerators out there. That being said, since this is an inexpensive model there is good and bad. First let's go with the good: A 5lb aluminum CO2 tank, dual gage regulator showing tank pressure and beer line pressure, enough room to hold two 1/6 kegs without a problem, no problems holding temperature of the keg at 36 degrees, externally mounted CO2 tank to extend the refill time of your CO2, includes a good D type coupler to connect the keg, it looks good. Now for the bad: This is a cold plate refrigerator, so the temperature is constantly fluctuating and a circulation fan is needed (I used a 120mm computer fan with 4 screws to hold up off of bottom and an old 6v cell phone charger to power with the line run through the same hole as CO2 line), Some type of tower cooler is needed otherwise your first beer poured will be foam if sitting unused for a while (I used an old 3 inch computer fan I mounted to a box that I laid in the bottom of kegerator with hose going up into tower), beer line is only 5ft long...which is not a problem for most beers but light beers requiring higher pressures (greater than say 12psi) may cause foam because of speed of flow...a longer beer line would solve that, the pressure CO2 line comes with plastic clamps...need to replace with metal to ensure no CO2 leaks, the 17 inch ¼ or ½ oversized coors/miller kegs do not fit (kegerator is only 16¾ inches deep). Besides a couple of these small modifications needed it is a very good kegerator!

Well, when the box arrived, it was all beat up. After I cut the straps, the box basically fell apart. The front door of the kegerator has dents in it. I assembled the unit per the instructions. The next day I fired it up. On the coldest setting it froze the inside. Several days later, I bought my first keg. Oh my, this is good! The beer is cold, it works great, and I am pleased so far. However, the tap faucet drips. I need to figure out why, but I will wait until I drain this keg! I am considering doing what some others has suggested, building a small fan assembly to help circulate the air, especially up into the tower. I feel it was a good deal and a nice investment for the football season! I just wish the door did not have dents. They are small cosmetic dents that do not effect the operation.

I own 3 vornado heaters, including this one, and they have been the best i've owned by a wide margin. here's why:

* they fan enough air to mix the room air and maintain a more uniform temperature (their advertising is true in that respect)

* no 'hot toaster zone' in front of the heater, with the rest of the room cold

* it is quiet

* the thermostat works! the heater puts out less heat after the room has warmed up

* this heater may appear to take longer to warm up a room for one reason: it is heating up the whole room, not just a small zone immediately surrounding the unit.

* It does use nearly 1500 watts, which is the maximum a heater can consume to be UL approved on a conventional 15Amp household outlet/circuit. The only way it puts out less heat is if you account for a more active fan. The reason the heat feels less when you put your hand in front of the unit is due to the larger amound of air being fanned. The total heat output (heat per cubic foot of air moved X the number of cubic feet of air moved) is the same... just with more even results

for best results: it helps to think of this heater as an 'ambient' heater:

(the following would work for pretty much any heater)

*position the heater in one corner of the room, preferably near the coldest wall... it will suck in the cold air, warm it and push it into the room

*do not aim the heater toward any sitting area... fanning air always makes it feel cooler (summer fan cooling anyone?) and will give the false impression that the heater is not working... when it is in fact warming the room

* if your heater has a temperature sensitive, variable speed fan: set the fan on high and it will not cycle on/off... it will also mix more air in the room and in doing so, maintain a more uniform temperature

Notes:

* I typically let my furnace bring the house to 69 degrees (from it's daytime setting of 58) when I get home at night and let the heater keep it at that temp afterwards. Even in Chicago winters, the furnace usually doesn't come on after the first run (my main floor is an open area, 700 sq. feet, with 7 windows and 2 doors... with only generic insulation... in Chicagoland)

* no space heater is considered 'whole house capable' in winter conditions. A 1500 Watt unit just cannot put out the BTU's a furnace can. It is not realistic to expect a space heater to quickly bring a whole house from cold to toasty warm in a short time.

On the lower side... Vornado seems to have had quality issues with the manufacturing of their heaters.. They've even had a recall on another model of theirs (which i own) due to faulty (read cheap?) solder points

So my rating for this heater is:

5 stars based on features and performance

-1 star for reduced trust factor

---------------------------------------------------

4 stars

It's very important not to get confused (as I suspect some reviewers have been) between two very similar Vortex models, the VH2 and the DVH. The DVH does indeed break almost instantly and should be avoided. This model, the VH2, on the other hand, is perfectly adequate for the price. No small electric heater in this price range is going to do a great job of quickly heating a large drafty room on an extremely cold day, but the VH2 does a find job. You will have to be patient however: it will take several hours to notice much of an effect in large dining room or kitchen. But if you wait, you will find that the VH2 gets the job done (and is quiet as well).

Best Deals on Vornado VH2 Whole Room Vortex Heater

I live in an old drafty icebox of a house built in the 1930's. Even when I run my gas heater, it doesn't do much good. I needed a space heater, and bad! I was wary of buying a space heater as I figured it couldn't help, but I'm glad I got this one! I read the instructions, followed their recommendations

for a large room and in about 15 minutes it took the chill off and made it so much more comfortable! It even reached into the surrounding hallway and dining room. I'm quite pleased. As a pet owner, I also appreciate the smaller vents that keep curious kitty cat's out of the heater. My cats all congregate by it and there's no way for them to get inside of it.

Honest reviews on Vornado VH2 Whole Room Vortex Heater

I purchased the Vornado VH2 Heater, but I returned it to the store after a few days.

My wife and I owned a Lasko Ceramic Element 30" Pedestal heater for years, but this season it finally died. We chose the Vornado VH2 Vortex heater after reading some of the positive reviews.

We live in the Northeast, have kind of a drafty apartment and we try to keep the heat low or off to save energy. The space heater goes into whatever room we are in and we use it to heat that room while we are there. Or we turn it on in the bedroom in the morning while we get ready for the day.

After a few days, it was clear that the Vornado VH2 was not going to cut it. The unit blows heat, but it is very tepid compared to our other heater.

We did notice that the Vornado VH2 (as many positive reviews here have mentioned) gives a very ambient warmth meaning that it seems to spread the heat about the room very evenly. However, be warned, it takes a loooong time for it to even raise the temperature a little bit.

I am confident in saying that this is NOT the heater for certain uses. For instance, if you have a home office and you like to use a heater to aim warmth your workstation area, this would not do the trick. Also, it isn't the heater for a fast warm-up. The Vornado VH2's big failure was in our morning routine. Usually, during the winter, we wake up, put on the heater, go into the bathroom to get ready and when return to the bedroom the heater has it nice and toasty. Well, the first morning using the Vornado was a shock it felt as if nothing had changed in the room.

After a couple of days, I went out and bought another Lasko heater, (same model as we had before,) brought it home and did a side by side comparison. NO CONTEST. I immediately boxed up the Vornado and returned it.

*****On a safety note: The plug for the Vornado VH2 seemed to not sit well in the outlet. When I would go to unplug it after using it, I would notice that the plug would kind of be hanging down, just a little, out of the outlet. This doesn't seem to be the case with our new heater, or our old one.

Not sure if there was a faulty batch that other people here received, but this will be the 3rd season using this product.. and it is the perfect answer to heating up a small room quickly. A Large room does indeed take more time, especially if there are open doors or wide openings in the room. It is not meant to be on 24 hours a day so maybe thats why other people are having trouble. The internal thermostat ensures you won't be wasting any more energy than you need to. About to buy my 2nd one right now..

Consumer Reports, February 10, 2010:

Heating Claims Don't Add Up

Manufacturers of electric space heaters want you to believe that using one of their devices will lower your heating bill. Lowering your home's thermostat(s) and using your main heating system less in tandem with a space heater--called zone heating--will cut your utility bill. (Every degree you lower the thermostat(s) can save you about 2 percent on your heating bill.) But keep in mind that based on current national average prices and adjusting for the energy losses due to burning a fuel, heating with electricity is about two and a half times more expensive than heating with gas, the most common heating fuel in this country.

EdenPure suggests that "you can turn the heat down in your house as low as 50°F, yet the room you are in will be warm and comfortable. When you move to another room, the EdenPure goes with you. Its wheels make relocation a snap." That scenario assumes that you have to heat only a single room to heat at a time or that you own multiple EdenPure space heaters; that once you're in a room you stay put and don't move around the house; and that you're willing to keep the rest of your home at a chilly 50°F. Lowering the thermostat(s) by 3°F would likely result in minimal discomfort for you and your family, but are you willing to keep your home at 50°F?

The 1,483-watt EdenPure Gen 3 Model 1000 uses quartz infrared elements as the heat source. Its design essentially negates the radiant-heating effect, so it operates more like a typical fan-forced convection heater. While a fan can help mix the room air, there is typically some temperature variation, with cooler air near the floor and warmer air near the ceiling.

Humidity Information Seems All Wet

EdenPure says its heaters "protects the humidity level and air quality important to breathing comfort and personal health," and also notes that "Heat from the copper tubing rides the humidity in the room and provides moist, soft heat--ceiling-to-floor, wall-to-wall--without reducing oxygen or humidity."

Simply put, when you heat a room with any space heater and don't also have an additional source of humidity, say a humidifier, the total moisture in the air in that space will stays the same but the relative humidity will go down, not up. That's true for every space heater we've tested, including the EdenPure Gen 3 Model 1000.

...

In the end, remember that electric space heaters in and of themselves can't save you energy and lower your utility bills over the winter. To do that, you need to weatherize your home and lower your thermostat(s) so your heating system has to work less. But if you're going to buy a space heater, you don't have to shell out $400 or more for the EdenPure Gen 3 Model 1000.

Paul Harvey was a great man. He was a pioneer in radio broadcasting especially in regard to the talk radio genre. He was a decent person. One of the "good guys." In 2005, President George W. Bush awarded Mr. Harvey the Presidential Medal of Freedom. And recently he passed away.

But even great men have flaws. Paul Harvey had been quoted as saying, "I am fiercely loyal to those willing to put their money where my mouth is." And therein, lies a conflict of interest.

Now, I have no way of knowing whether or not Mr. Harvey knowingly endorsed fraudulent products but it is utterly indisputable that he did endorse the main product of Suarez Corporation Industries.

You undoubtedly have never heard of SCI but if you were a regular or even semi-regular listener of Paul Harvey you would have heard him endorse the miraculous EdenPURE heater with its revolutionary "cured copper" heat exchanger.

SCI is a prime supplier to the multi-level marketing community. Some of the companies that make up SCI are:

Biotech Research

International Home Shopping

Lindenwold Fine Jewelers

U.S. Commemorative Gallery

Biotech Medical, LLC

Resource Partners

This list is a smorgasbord of overpriced, yet intensely crappy products. (Oh sure, they sell the Tempur-Pedic line of closed cell foam mattresses which are merely overpriced...you can pick up the exact same thing at Walmart for a fraction of their cost.) This company is a virtual feeding frenzy for multi-level marketing scammers.

But I am only going to focus on their most prominent scam product: The EdenPURE heater.

The EdenPURE heater is the most expensive 115-volt electric space heater money can buy, bar none, and it is marketed with, at best, half-truths and, at worst, blatant lies.

Compounding the problem is literally hundreds (if not thousands) of independent distributors, many of them not authorized resellers.

So lets get into the meat of the issue. Just what does SCI, through its Biotech Research subsidiary, claim that the EdenPURE can do? Here are some select pickings from their FAQ page:

Q. What is the EdenPURE Heater Quartz Infrared Heating System?

A. Our Heating System is a revolutionary zone furnace that safely and efficiently heats entire areas that need additional heat.

Translation: It's a portable electric space heater.

Q. How do the EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heaters Work?

A. With the advent of micro-electronic technology and the latest in infrared commercial quartz tubes, three solar copper furnaces inside the unit absorb the heat from these tubes much like a sponge absorbs water. The patent pending process of cured natural copper creates an innovative heat exchanger capable of absorbing heat like a solar sponge. It then safely exhales what is coined as "soft" environmentally friendly heat that is able to travel rapidly in relative humidity. The EdenPURE SOFT heat does not burn up the humidity; moreover, it employs the humidity as a vehicle to warm up large spaces quickly and efficiently.

EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.

Other heaters cause occupants to lose energy and force them to breathe dry uncomfortable air. The EdenPURE heater replicates the earth's sun process by electronically exhaling comfortable cost cutting heat without burning up your family's life sustaining oxygen in your indoor living space. The benefits of this natural solar process are revolutionizing the way we will heat our homes and help save large amounts of costly energy.

Translation: Let the BS begin. Taking it item-by-item:

Micro-electronic technology. Translation: It has a digital thermostat.

The latest in infrared commercial quartz tubes. Translation: Three 500-watt halogen light bulbs. Big woop.

Three solar copper furnaces. Translation: Copper pipe cut to length that surround the light bulbs.

Cured natural copper. Translation: Fairy dust & unicorn farts. There is no such thing as "cured" copper.

It then safely exhales. Translation: It has a blower.

-"Soft" environmentally friendly heat. Translation: More fairy dust.

-Does not burn up humidity. Translation: Utter nonsense, heaters don't dehumidify.

-Will not destroy life/energy. Translation: Utter nonsense for the mentally challenged.

-Helps to maintain healthy humidity levels. Translation: Utter nonsense, totally impossible.

-Other heaters cause occupants to lose energy. Translation: We think you are stupid.

-Replicates the earth's sun process. Translation: We think you are really, really stupid.

-Electronically exhales. Translation: We are doubling down on the stupid thing.

-Without burning...oxygen. Translation: Just in case you are an absolute idiot we are tossing this one in out of sheer spite.

-Helps save large amounts of costly energy: Translation: Compared to what? Plutonium?

Now back to the FAQ's...

Q. What makes the EdenPURE Heater "Healthier" than other heaters?

A. For one... the EdenPURE heater does not produce positive ions like other blower (dryer) type heaters.

EdenPURE heater has perfectly regulated heat that will not destroy life/energy that other dangerous portable heating devices destroy, but helps to maintain healthy humidity levels indoors.

Since the early 1950s scientists have suspected that ions play an important role in how the body functions and, consequently, in how we feel. Research has shown that an abundance of negative ions in the air we breathe is highly beneficial.

Conversely, scientists have found that if the air is charged with too few negative ions and too many positives, we become anxious, fatigued and tense. Positive ion poisoning has, in fact, been linked to heart attacks, aggravated asthma, migraine headaches, insomnia, rheumatism, arthritis, hay fever, and most allergies.

Translation: Wow. This is industrial strength BS at its finest. To me, this is holistic, pseudo-science mumbo jumbo that is ridiculous and claiming that other heaters produce positive ions is utter rubbish thrown out there for the slow-witted.

Q. How does the comfort of the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?

A. The EdenPURE Heater System is a state of the art system that provides the most comfortable form of heat. Unlike traditional systems, which may leave a differential of up to 18 degrees from floor to ceiling, the EdenPURE Heater System heated air, using infrared absorption, does not concentrate near the ceiling. Heat stays down and evenly dispersed in the area where you and your family live.

Temperature difference from floor to ceiling is minimal. In addition, the EdenPURE Heater System does not remove humidity from the air. It actually helps maintain humidity levels. The even heating and higher humidity permit lower heat settings with more comfort, less condensation on windows and less static electricity. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System does not use flame, fuel or any form of combustion. Therefore, the heat from the EdenPURE Heater is safe and clean free of any other type of pollution and does not use up the oxygen in the air.

Translation: Okay, well this is more crap served up with a very large spoon...maybe even with a funnel and a hose.

The EdenPURE is, despite claims to the contrary, a forced air electric space heater. There is nothing magical about what it does. Room temperature air comes in one end and higher temperature air comes out the other end. That's it.

Warm air rises due to a property in air called "convection." To minimize the natural process of convection the air in a room may be circulated. Ceiling fans do this quite nicely.

There is no heater made that removes humidity from air. It is a physical impossibility. Period. To remove humidity from air one must lower the air temperature below its dew point. This is called condensation. Think of the "sweat" that occurs on a glass of ice water. If water condenses on the inside of your windows it is because there is a source of excess humidity in the house...someone left the shower running...and the glass is below the dew point. The EdenPURE heater is totally incapable of maintaining ANY level of humidity. Winter air is dry. Go to NOAA and look it up.

Any properly installed heating system will not use up the oxygen of the occupied space. Again, nothing magical here.

Q. Economically, how does the EdenPURE Heater System compare to other systems?

A. The EdenPURE Heater System is the most economical way to heat. In Midwestern Utility field tests for heating seasons, the EdenPURE Heater used an average of 35% less energy than conventional electric furnace/baseboard systems. Comparable results were found during comparisons with fuel based heating systems. Individual results, of course, depend on insulation values, local climate, and other conditions.

Translation: This is a pure lie. The most economical way to heat using electricity is with a heat pump. So, yeah, individual results depend on "other conditions." These (along with that old favorite, "individual results may vary") are what are called "weasel words."

Q. How much area does a EdenPURE Heater System Heat?

A. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 1000 Heater is a 1483 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 400 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 1000 square feet of well insulated space. The EdenPURE GEN3 Model 500 Heater 900 watt Heating System, is an excellent source of primary heat for up to 200 square feet and a superb source of secondary heat for up to 300 square feet of well insulated space.

Translation: More nonsense. Heat loss for any given room in a house depends on a host of variables: Outside wall area, floor area, ceiling area, window area, door area and local climate conditions to name but a few. Matching a heating appliance without taking heat loss into account is incompetent.

Q. Why does the EdenPURE Heater System cost more than a space heater?

It is a furnace in every respect. A space heater only has the capacity to heat a small space (i.e. under a desk). The EdenPURE Heater System, like a central heating system, will heat an entire area evenly and efficiently. This allows the unit to be a supplemental source of heat. Furthermore, the EdenPURE Heater System is safe. It will not start a fire or burn if you touch it. Because of the reduced energy consumption, and the unit's high level of safety and comfort, EdenPURE Heater System users agree that it is the best value available.

Translation: The EdenPURE is a space heater in every respect. It isn't a furnace. A furnace is designed to heat an entire home. The EdenPURE is not. Properly installed and maintained furnaces are safe, too. Duh. Too many EdenPURE owners are way too embarrassed by what they paid for it to say anything other than what a great value it is.

Q. Why is the EdenPURE Heater System safe?

A. The EdenPURE Heater System has no flame or fumes. Its safe, clean infrared heating elements provide the energy. Extensive testing at CUL (Canada) and UL (United States) has verified the safety of the EdenPURE Heater System. Due to its safe operating temperature, the EdenPURE Heater may be placed next to flammable materials with minimal safety clearance needed.

Translation: All appliances sold in the USA, including space heaters and furnaces, are listed with Underwriters Laboratories. Big Deal.

Q. What kind of Satisfaction Guarantee does it have?

A. We have a 60 day Satisfaction Guarantee. Our Return Policy: You can return or exchange any purchase within 60 days for any reason. NOTE: Items must be returned in the same box & packaging received by you with everything that was included in the original shipment.

Translation: Wow. Sixty days. So, when you discover that it doesn't save you a dime you are totally screwed. Nice policy.

The hundreds of other scam artists that peddle this device go even further with the "cured copper" BS by creating their own little urban legend about its "discovery." Here is the story that they peddle:

"'This advanced heating element was discovered accidentally by a man named John Jones. He had a large old farmhouse that was impossible to heat. Jones had a coal furnace in his basement. Jones placed a sheet of cured copper near the furnace to store it. Cured copper is a type of copper that goes through an extensive heating process to give it special properties. ''After the fire went out in the coal furnace, Jones noticed that the sheet of copper was heating his entire basement evenly, even though the furnace was no longer putting out heat. He also was amazed as to how long the heat stayed in the copper and continued to warm the room. ''Jones was so taken back by this that he started to experiment. He formed a company to develop a heating source out of this cured copper. But Jones had a number of children and he did not want a heating source that would cause a fire or create other hazardous situations like creating carbon monoxide or radiation. He also did not want his children to get burned. To make a long story short, through a great deal of research and development, Jones developed a heating source that utilized commercial infrared quartz tubes. John Jones designed his heating source around the three most important consumer benefits: economy, comfort, and safety. The final development of this infrared quartz heat source cannot be matched by any other heating system in the world."

Translation: Pure and utter BS from start to finish. There is no such thing as "cured copper." It has no "special properties" other than to separate you from several hundred bucks. Take a little stroll over to copper.o r g and try your hardest to find a reference to it. It does not exist except in the minds of simpletons.

The final nail in this smelly little coffin comes from Consumer Reports:

"The unit was the second-lowest-scoring space heater we tested, earning only a 24 on our 100-point scale. According to the folks in our Tech department who tested space heaters, the EdenPure provided lackluster temperature control and was not particularly easy to use, What's more, it was pricey and lacked an overheat-protection feature (key for safety). The GEN3 models do have this important safety feature, according to BioTech Research."

Bottom Line:

If you insist on spending up to $400 for an electric space heater that's your business. But you can get the exact same result for around $30 at your local hardware store. 1500 watts of heat is 1500 watts of heat regardless of how it's packaged and how much it costs.

And don't ever buy anything that multi-level (or network) marketers are selling, especially their "system."

This Eden Pure unit certainly does its job of heating a room, but not before your electric bill goes up exponentially. I started using this unit on the first day of my last months' billing cycle, and when I got my bill 30 days later, it jumped 103% over the past month. Simply put, this unit is a guzzler. I immediately unplugged it, and started making preparations to return it to the manufacturer. The advertisement for this product says that they're making improvements to this years' model. Well, they need to work on efficiency--not just the amount of heat that it can generate. Sorry folks, but this unit is a liability. 1/10 P.S. This unit's use has also activated the smoke detectors in my house.

Honest reviews on Eden Pure Gen 4 Infrared Heater

I just loved the very detailed review that was funny. While there are many aspects of his commentary that may be accurate you cannot assume everything is correct. I will offer this personal experience with the GEN heaters. I own two, 1000 Gen 3 units.

My evaluation and use of this was done after spending almost $2000.00 the past winter in OIL!

On a cold month, I used very little or no oil and used the two GEN heaters almost exclusively. Yes, the electric bill shot up and I estimated it cost somewhere around $150 to $200 for the month. However, compared to a $400 to $600 oil bill, kind of a no brainer.

FYI the two heaters were used in a 3 bedroom brick ranch home. One in the living room the other in a bedroom with the heater facing the hallway.

Perhaps the reviewer is correct in pointing out the fairy dust and unicorn farts (that review is a hoot for sure) regarding certain of the hype and claims made by the sellers. Perhaps one might find other space heaters for less money with nearly identical output. I personally think space heaters such as these are worth while in certain situations.

The down side is I think they should run quieter. The air flow makes a high pitched whistle when operating which I find very annoying.

Expect an increase in electric cost, no question about it, but compare to your other heating cost. Then make the decision accordingly.

EdenPure products are a total rip off. As one reviewer said, in order to save energy, one has to turn off the home heating system and just use the space heater. That is not explained very well in their marekting materials.

The biggest complaint I have is they pry on the older generation. My dad is 83 and have some cogntive problems and every time they send him some information, he orders something. I am sure by now, he must owe a part of EdenPure just by buying 3 heaters, one air purifier and a humidifier. He has spent thousands of dollars with them and most of the heaters sit on his basement shelf or worst off he thinks he is saving on electricity. He gave me one for a gift several years ago, and my electric bill went up so high, that I started reading information on their website. OMG!

I really don't know what to do, but I can tell you, once you buy one of these products, you are on their mailing lists FOREVER.

EdenPure are very bad people, unethical to sell something that really doesn't work well and definitely the prices are outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I specifically chose this model due to the fact that it has a two hose exhaust system. The master bedroom where this is installed really doesn't have the room to allow for drainage from a normal system that simply condenses out the moisture from the air. Barring extreme humidity this is as close as you're going to get to a system that requires no condensation drain. Cools extremely well in a 30x20 master bedroom on a top floor with poor a/c circulation. And no fighting with taking it out of the window at the end of the season!

While my old Honeywell lasted some 30 years with the tabs still holding.

This new one has super thin plastic tab rings that broke off when access cover was removed.

I guess I could tape the cover back on, my wife will love that!

I wanted inexpensive and I got it. The instruction are really bad. All Honeywell instructions are bad. It does not clearly say that it will not work with electric heat. I bought 5 of them and could not use them in my rentals with electric heat. I then bought the round old style and they work great.

Honest reviews on Honeywell International YCT31A1002 Economy Standard Mechanical

I bought one of these for a simple 2 wire setup (R and W wires). From the manual it looks like you can use it for that. The first one I installed did not work and the customer service person asked me about my setup, we checked that the wiring setup I had was good (touch red to white to make sure it goes on), but it did not work, so they told me it was defective. I went to get another one, and same thing. The think is, if you look at how it's made, it looks like they have connected the wrong posts -the metal connector that works when you touch the wire to it is not attached to the W wire screw. I tried a different thermostat and it worked fine. So either both of the these CT31A thermostats I bought were defective, or the thermostat was mis-manufactured with a flawed design, or it's not designed to work with a 2 wire setup (though the manual does not say so).

Would love to hear from Honeywell what the issue is with this thermostat.

We bought this because we have a gas stove in our reckroom and didn't want anything that we had to program because we don't have the stove on all the time. We couldn't find it in any of the retail stores so we were glad to find it here on Amazon.
