I have a white rodgers model 1f80-261 at home, and most of an office I work at has that model too. It is nice, easy to use, and programable for different times of the day. This model here is nice for the areas of an office, or an outbuilding, or just an office that is going to be open all the time and needs a consistent temperature. Easy to set, acurate, easy to read display. What more could one want. I have had my white rodgers for about 2 years now, doesn't miss a beat. I even had my mother install it in her house. Worth the investment. This is a great simple thermostat.

After 38 years serving of heating equipment the White-Rodgers products were used by all 700+ of our service people.

When I needed a thermostat for my own use I picked White-Rodgers.

So far it has worked well and a lot better than a more expensive programmable that only lasted two years from a competitor(Honeywell Programmable) that is sold in most hardware stores.Easy to install.Only drawback its not back lit but a real good job and quality for the money. Our AC/Heating service recommended White and Rodgers 700 for a non-programmable and called them bullet-proof.Glad we bought it and the past 2 months we have no problems as compared to the last one which we had problem from the beginning .The craftsmanship is not as flimsy as the competitors was. I would recommend it !

Honest reviews on White-Rodgers 700 Electronic Non-Programmable Single Stage

Replaced two Honeywell's that were horribly innacurate. The White Rodgers 700 is so much more professional and accurate...to the degree! You set it at 68 and you get 68. The lighted display and large numbers make it very easy to read. It works very well and I will always buy this brand now.

Used this to replace a similar thermostat which had failed. Installation instructions were fine. Installation is 'easy' except that the terminals for installing the wire leads are very poorly arranged. I uttered a swear word or two at my clumsy fingers working in a tight space. Very simple to use. In particular you do not have to remember any sequence of buttons to set the desired temperature--just push the up or down buttons. I liked the information window which provides more information than a competitor's equivalent. We are using this for AC and it holds a nice consistent temperature range. As a techie I checked the indicated temperature on the thermostat and found it a degree or two different from that shown by a plain old mercury thermometer. This can be re-adjusted but I didn't bother. We just moved the set temperature up or down for a couple of days until we found our comfort level which it maintains very well. For an economical unit it seems to be a well built product (better than our previous 'big box store' special) and it works as intended. I would recommend this as a simple manual non-programmable thermostat.

My plumber who installed this told me that I would need to set it on about 3 out of 5 to keep the detached garage apartment that I use for an office warm, which is about 450 square feet on a second floor with an unheated garage below. The other night it was 17 degrees and breezy outside and 1.25-1.5 out of 5 kept things comfortable. I have been using two electric heaters and the winter electric bills have been higher for the office than for my house on the same realty that has central heat and air, a washing macnine, an electric dryer, refrigerator, multiple TVs with every family member watching theirs and all sorts of other electrical devices. Further, electric heaters did not keep it warm, just unfrozen. Most winter days my fingers were darn cold on the keyboard. Now I look forward to winter days in the office. Why didn't I install this years ago? Great unit.

I wanted a ventless heater that didn't need power. We have frequent, and sometimes extended, power outages and it GETS COLD when the stupid GAS FURNACE won't operate without power!

So I installed it myself in the basement (there was already a gas connection there from an old gas clothes dryer) in about a hour. No problem. The instructions explain everything, and list what you need to buy extra (a few pieces of "black iron pipe", some gas-safe Mylar tape to wrap the pipe threads, and a flexible gas appliance hookup line. I got everything from the appliance section of the local hardware store in one trip. Installation worked the first try. It lit right up on the first try, too. Wheeee!

Now we turn the darned thing on anytime we're working in the basement (like doing laundry) during the winter. Very easy to use, very reliable (I'm on it's second winter), and IT PUTS OUT A LOT OF HEAT!

Excellent purchase.Easily heats my 2 and a half car garage in southern Idaho. We had an extremely cold winter this year the electric bill was outrageous. Electric heaterwas running full time.We had several minuofficial s 10 degrees nights. This heater was able to cycle on and off while still keeping the garage warm. I know my gas bill will be cheaper than electricity. It'll pay for itself soon.

This heater is a better quality then the blue flame kinds. If you are shopping make sure you buy the thermostate model and not the hight medium low models. Its worth the extra money so the heater will turn off and on automatically. The non-thermostat models stay on all the time either high, medium, or low flame.

I use this in my home in Ohio and it heats my two story three bedroom home without using my furnace at 14 degrees!!!

I have since installed them in my rental apartments to help my tenants save money on their gas. I am shocked that everybody doenst have these!!! They are so efficient and cost so little money and are a 5 minute installation!

I did my research on food dehydrators and the L'Equip was recommended above all. I like the rectangular shape that makes it easy to sit on your counter top without looking bulky and taking up much needed space. It is about the size of a small microwave. It is nice and quiet, comes with the fruit trays and the mesh sheets for the six trays so you do not have to buy a lot of "extras" like you do with the American Harvest brand. I considered buying their model but after you add on all of the mesh sheets and fruit leather trays plus 2 extra stacking trays to equal what this unit offers it is really not any less expensive. I did not like the way it was round and would take up a lot more space. The L' Equip motor and fan is on the bottom but it is covered so nothing will fall into it. I have dried apples, pineapple, coconut and bananas on it so far and it takes anywhere from 6 to 10 hours. They turned out great. I plan on using this often to make healthy sulfite free snacks and ingredients for my baking. It also has a 12 year warranty which is really important. I highly recommend this dehydrator for anyone who wants a quality built product at an affordable price.

***Also for those arguing about the dimensions, if you are not happy with the square feet of drying area provided DON'T BUY IT!

very simple. I have had this for 8 months now and there is plenty of space for drying many fruits and vegetables.

It really is not worth arguing over.

I am very suspicios of people who are coming on Amazon and only reviewing this one product-it could be a competitor trying to bash the product so people are afraid to buy it....I have seen this with several items I have purchased, many false claims and then you click on their name and it is the ONLY thing reviewed so I really do not use their review to influence my decision. Look for reviews that contain many purchased items, that seem legitimate.

A great product! This product has a lot going for it starting with a real instruction book, expansion and solid construction. The trays are firm and each is outfitted with a removable fine mesh, so those smaller items don't fall through. The motor is reaonsably quiet and it does a fine job drying food without cooking the food. One thing to consider about this rectangular unit instead of a round unit it fits nicely on a shelf and doesn't consume so much room when not in use.

Best Deals on L'Equip Dehydrator

I use it for Raw Foods dishes. I do think everyone in the Raw Foods Community is a little brainwashed by Excalibur. I don't work for L'Equipe. I just like this better.

Advantages

1) quieter

2) heat only the trays you are using

3) less expensive

4) looks better too, on your counter, etc.

Disadvantages

1) some people might consider it a disadvantage that there is a hole in the middle of the tray. This could limit making a single size large Raw Foods pizza, instead of several smaller ones. That's the only disadvantage I can think of.

I bought it hoping it would be quieter, and because all Excalibur's price controlling was irking me. I am happy with it :)

Honest reviews on L'Equip Dehydrator

I've been unimpressed with most dehydrators out there. Most of them have fairly flimsy racks, other parts you must buy, and the round ones, simply don't make a lot of sense unless it's to compensate for an inadequate drying motor. You can put a lot of food on this one and it works fine. No extra parts to buy for when you do small objects. Temperature control is nice, since some foods do better with more or less heat than others.

Six very large trays is a huge advantage. With other dryers, you spend hours doing just a little bit here and there. And it seems as though you never really get a lot accomplished. I suppose that's alright if you just want to make a few natural snacks for the kids, but using those on any kind of scale is pretty impractical. If you are into food storage from an economic standpoint, then this one will make it easy.

This thing is only missing a couple of things that I'd wish for. First, they should add a variable speed fan as well as the variable temperature. When foods first go in, they push out a lot of moisture which can condense on the top. It eventually pushes all that out, but bumping the fan speed would help. I invariably lift the top a few times at the beginning and wipe it down and let the moisture vent. This aids the drying time by eliminating a fair amount of water. Doable, but a controllable air flow would help.

I'd also like one of the racks to be a bit taller. Sometimes this could really come in handy in dehydrating things like large strawberries or other items that don't fit as well.

Tips:

1) Rotate the racks a few hours in. Food on the bottom dries out quicker than that on the top.

2) Move the food on the tray around part way through. Food at the edges is a bit slower to dry out because the airflow is a bit less at the perimeter and corners, so you end up running it longer than you need to for the other 90%

When you do these things, you're food will be more uniform and cut your drying time considerably.

I'm brand new to the raw/natural food & dehydrator craze. I can munch on a handful of excellent zucchini, banana, or sweet potato 'chips' made in this dehydrator and feel like it's a guilty pleasure. Who knew? Easy way to get your daily serving of veggies. Every time I use it I've got all 6 trays going at once, at capacity. If you're gung-ho raw foodies (or a bigger family) you might want to order more trays from another source. Amazon doesn't seem to sell them, but pleasanthillgrain.com does. They also sell the L'Equip as listed here, but charge more. I figure eventually I'll have to just chip in for more trays.

Or you just keep the thing running 24 hours a day, heh.

I bought this model because the price was right, and I didn't like the round-shaped varieties for how my counter is laid out. The rectangular-shaped L'Equip fits just right on the side of my kitchen counter. I paid through Amazon, but the 877myjuicer folks shipped it out to me. It was shipped quickly and with email notification and online tracking, no complaints.

There are rubber-mesh inserts included with each tray, but only 2 small fruit leather sheets designed to fit on each side of a tray ... that is, you only get enough fruit leather sheets to fill just ONE of the 6 trays that come with it. So if you're planning on making lots of fruit leather etc. you'll want to order extra fruit sheets or come up with some alternative.

There are two other items in my raw food kitchen that I use constantly. I HATE to clean up after I impulsively do my 'cooking', so I only have two other gadgets. A mandoline slicer, from Benriner (high quality Japanese brand), and the 'cook help' spiral slicer. Also from Benriner. This little pup turns a yam, squash (whatever) into huge handfuls of thin angel-hair 'pasta'. It's amazing. Much sturdier than the sprizalooli or whatever it is that other thing's called. When I make a pesto angel-hair pasta from a yam or some other root vegetable, I get my 'cooked' friends hooked in an instant. I love my spiral slicer.

The L'Equip I ordered from Amazon, the Benriner(s) I got from eBay. I went all over NYC trying to find this stuff and of course AFTER I won the eBay auction I found the Benriner spiral slicer at Zabar's cookware shop (80th & Broadway).

Whoa, I can babble on. Anyhow, happy fooding -

I love this gadget! I have done a lot of investing into the energy efficiency of my home and this is definitely a key to my lower energy bills. I use my fireplace to heat my home in lieu of my furnace, since the fireplace uses much less gas. That being said, this installs easily and quickly.

*DO NOT FALL FOR THE HYPE OF THE OTHER REVIEWER WHO SAID THIS INTERFERED WITH THE WIRELESS ROUTER, MINE WORKS FINE; NO INTERFERENCE AT ALL!* My apologies for the the all-caps, but that is very important. It may have randomly for his, but not mine. For those interested, my wireless router is a Belkin N-Wireless router putting out n, g, and b modes, 20/40 MHtz, no problems. Several devices laptops, tablet, and phones connecting and working while the thermostat cut on and off; no problems.

Nor should you be deterred by the reviewer who said that this isn't new. Mine was spotless, batteries shrink wrapped, no scratches or marks of any kind.

Prerequisites:

Batteries are included, yaay! The transmitter/remote is the temperature sensor. I would recommend putting said sensor on the other side of the room or near a place where you or your guests spend the most time so that the temperature it computes is accurate for the area in the room where it counts. Of place it by your home's existing thermostat.

You may want to purchase some wire terminals as the thermostat receiver has two piggyback, male and female terminals. The terminals are like these:

Vinyl Insulated .250" Piggyback Quick Disconnect 22-18 AWG (Red) 100 Per Package

Once you securely connect and test them, tape the two individually connected sections together with electrical tape so make sure that they do not complete the circuit unintentionally. According to the instructions, it does not matter which wire goes to which, I believe because you are interrupting the same wire with a switch instead of connecting two separate wires together.

Programming:

This device lumps all weekdays together and then another set for the weekend days all together for two sections per week. Then there are two time periods per section/day, a morning and an evening setting. So in other words, P1 is what you want it to do when you awake and P2 is what you want it to do when you get home from work. The restrictions for the awake/morning section is that you can't go past noon, but the evening has a lower/earlier limit of noon, so if/when you want, you can have the evening to start at noon, so that it can go continuously if you like.

Anyway, the way you program this is, when you press and hold the program button, you setup two programs per day, a morning-P1 and an evening-P2. You do the weekend morning first, so it will flash "SS" for Saturday & Sunday and P1 for morning. The first P1 setting with the flame icon means, the flame/heat cuts on at this time, (set time using arrows and press Set), the next P1 setting with crossed out flame icon means you set the time when the flame/heat stops/cuts off in the morning (set time using arrows and press Set), the final P1 setting lets you set the temperature you want the fireplace to maintain during it's operation (set temperature using arrows and press Set). Next you repeat this for the weekend evenings' "SS"-P2. Flame on time, Flame off time, and set temperature. Now, the weekend programming is done.

Then, you do the same for the weekdays, "MTWTF" P1 (morning) & "MTWTF" P2 (evening). Remember, the order is Flame on time, Flame off time, and set temperature.

Point of interest:

If you also, have a programmable thermostat for your furnace like me, then make sure that you consider how they will interact. In other words, decide which will override the other. For my setup, I have this thermostat to my fireplace as the dominant one and the furnace is "Plan B". Specifically, my higher temperatures are set using the fireplace and the lower temperatures, in case the fireplace is not enough is supplemented or backed up with my furnace. Also, keep in mind that the temperatures they perceive may not match. The fireplace thermostat usually has it hotter than the furnace, which means that they sometimes go at the same time, not good for those looking to be frugal, but maybe good for those who hope for a more symbiotic relationship between the two. Just take your time to experiment during the weekend or evening, when you are home for an extended period of time to make sure things work the way you want.

Another important note, press the program button to make sure that you see the word 'program' on screen, that way you know you are actually using the programs you just so carefully and painstakingly setup.

Other than that, you may want to invest in a blower, if you don't already have one; they rock and turn your fireplace into a giant space heater. Something like this one sold by the fireplaceblowersonline.com guys. I do not work for them, but their products are good and their service is great.

FK24 Fireplace Blower kit for Majestic, Vermont Castings, Monessen, CFM, Northern; Rotom #HBRB65

All and all, God bless, stay warm, and pray and bless those who are less fortunate; remember the homeless who struggle outside, as we are snug and "struggle" to stay warm indoors.

Peace and blessings,

CEH

I purchased this to replace my old fireplace remote. This model by far had the best features and was really looking forward to the upgrade however the down button on the touch screen did not work. I was unable to get it replace. The only option was to return for a refund. I would have rather had it replaced. After all the hassle I simply returned it and did not order another. Potentially a great product but bad customer service from the vendor AND the manufacturer.

So after owning a quite a few electric blankets over the years, I decided to give this particular sunbeam model a try. I've had good experiences with their electric blankets and I was able to buy the Queen Lagoon version at a great price. One thing you should know about these blankets is that if you take care of them properly, they will last a lot longer. If you continually fold them and store them in areas where they can be damaged... then the shelf life will be shorter.

With that being said, this fleece blanket was great! The material is a bit more sturdy then usual, but still soft to the touch. If you have ever owned one of the sunbeam throws, its like having that material over the size of entire blanket. The stylish quilted pattern also looked great as a queen sized bedspread. I was surprised by the amount of heat pumped out from this simple little blanket. Even on a medium to low setting, the heat was sufficient enough for our needs. The heating zones on the queen also proved to be very usefull. It allowed me and my fiance to have custom heat settings on both sides of the bed with no argument over whether their side was tool cold or hot. Overall, it was a great purchase at a good price and I would highly recomend.

This is my first experience with an electric blanket and let me tell you, it's awesome. Our little old house isn't properly sealed, so we try not to crank up the heater too much, knowing it'll quickly dissipate anyway. We use this blanket to help us keep warm when it gets into the low 50s indoors, and it is awesome especially when you first hop into bed. Usually I can unplug the blanket soon after that and my body heat and all the blankets keep me warm for the rest of the night.

The annoying thing about this product is that the controls never really worked. It was the second or third use when the light on the control started flashing orange all the time...I looked this up online and found that this means there's some sort of error. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has fixed that but we keep using it anyway. A faulty electric blanket doesn't seem like the smartest thing to use, but oh well. The biggest annoyance is that the auto-off thing doesn't work, so we just have to unplug it whenever we're done using it for the night.

One word for this product Amazing! I always wanted one of these but never could find one I like -this one was perfect. Had so many color/heating options, SO soft and comfortable and the customer service crew was very helpful in answering my questions. It's about as comfortable and easy to control as it gets, inexpensive and actually helped me SAVE money on heat! After my husband and I loved it so much, I got one for my daughter and a spare for our guest room, too. Also a great gift (and easy to travel with). I highly recommend it.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam Royal Dreams Heated Electric Blanket Quilted Fleece

I have been sleeping under electric blankets for 50 years, and this is one of the better ones I've gotten. Which is amazing considering how good the price was. The controls are easy to use even in the dark. You can't push the wrong button because there is only one button on and off. The amount of heat is controlled with a dial. And there is enough light to see the button to turn it off in the middle of the night. It is easy to find the button, the only button, in the dark as well. And enough light, but not too much, to change the setting in the middle of the night. But because the setting doesn't change every time you turn the blanket off, you are unlikely to need to do that once you find the setting you like.

The blanket is heavy enough to sleep under, during a black out, without the electric part of the blanket. I just did that for 6 days because of Sandy. Why is that important to someone who will be using the heat? Because my experience has taught me that a blanket that can stand on its own will provide very even heat when it is turned on and you need even heat.

Some people complained that they could feel the wires in the blanket. This is true. It is also true of every other electric blanket I've had over the last 50 years.

Some people complained that the blanket wasn't perfectly soft. This is also true. I use a duvet cover, but if you use a top sheet you will have similar experiences to mine. Because it wasn't perfectly soft, it also wasn't slippery. It stayed where it was supposed to stay inside the duvet cover. I expect it stays where it is supposed to stay with a top sheet too. I consider that a plus.
