I bought this little guy because it was the same price as similarly specced machines, and it had the lowest wattage setting of them all (600W/1200W on LOW/HI respectively).

Pros:

It heats my little 10x10 bedroom super fast. Because it is a lower wattage, I do have it plugged into an extension cord, and have not noticed any weird behavior. Both the heater plug and extension cord plug are cool to the touch after two hours of running the machine, which is about all I ever run it for anyway. The back, sides and bottom of the machine also say cool to the touch (at least on the low setting), which puts me at ease having is only 1ft from the wall in a corner of my little room. It is also quiet enough that I can watch TV and listen to music at pretty conservative volumes (I have roommates and like to watch TV in bed at night w/ this heater running).

Cons:

I was just looking at the unit and noticed the sticker on the bottom says the wattage is 800W/1200W... which is an extra 200W on the lower setting than advertised on both the box and on the site. This is a little disappointing, but not a total deal breaker. Also, the unit does not have any safety features (that I can see). It does not have tip-over protection, which leads me to believe it probably doesn't ahve overheat protection either... I can't be sure on this, but a quick skim of the brochure it came with didn't really tell me much.

Over, a decent heater if you don't plan to leave it running all the time while unattended; and if the 800W low setting isn't a deal breaker. It would be nice if that spec was changed on both the box and the site.

Wow this thing really cranks out some serious heat. It uses less energy than most ceramic heaters and is very stylish. I leave it on low and am wowed by its ability to heat a room up. The build quality is second to none. I love that it has a quality dust filter on back that will make for easy cleaning. My only complaint would be that the front grill get super hot making it difficult to pick up when it is on. If they made a little handle or recess in the back to help protect your fingers it would get 5 stars hands down!!!

Honest reviews on Crane EE-6490 Space Heater 600/1200 Watt

Amazon carries another heater by the same maker as this one, it is the "Crane EE-6353 Space Heater 600/1200 Watt". The Product Features and Details seem to be switched on these two. At least this is my assumption; check them both out and you will probably agree.

For instance, the larger one is probably the one that is 20" tall, and the smaller one 8.6" tall. Another important difference: the smaller one probably does not come with a remote, but the larger one probably does.

This is a 800/1200 watt unit not 600/1200 if it matters to anyone. It is 8" high by 3.25" deep by about 6.75" wide. The picture and model number are now correct on Amazon. No, it does not have a remote.

Someone posted that this unit has tip-protection, but it does not (I just tried it). Disconcerting, but i'll live with it. If anyone is wondering, as it was a selling point for me, the construction is mostly metal (case & grate at least, impressive in a sea of plastic heaters), and the case does not get hot despite the warning sticker on top of the unit.

I am pleased with the performance, even though I'm downgrading from a Pelonis 4-ceramic-disk heater (It was my parents', I moved out, it stayed), and upgrading from a temporary [crappy] Lasko 'milk-house' style heater Wally World special. I wanted to get a Pelonis, but the company seems to barely acknowledge it's existence anymore and I didn't want to drop down 70 Washingtons for it. While the Pelonis is still superior to this unit, I think this little Crane comes pretty close, and I'll echo other reviews here for quiet operation and for heating up a 10x10 room pretty well. I suspect the only reason the Pelonis seemed to work better was due to more infrared heat put out of the unit and more air forced through the heating element (same fan size, but higher speed, your trade-off is loudness though).

Keep in mind that the vast majority of 'ceramic' heaters, including this one, don't use perforated ceramic plates, the kind used in the Pelonis and good infrared saunas (I have one, the plates in the heating units are similar to the Pelonis disks). To be honest, I don't even see where the 'ceramic' part comes into play with the Crane, it just looks like a metal element. But again, it still heats well, and for less than 35 dollars, it's hard to beat when accounting for it's size.

I bought (2) of the older versions (at Lowes) and (1) of this version (from Amazon). The newer version is smaller, and easier to install. Wiring is located in center (where it should be) unlike the older version which was a pain to get some of the wires to reach the screw terminals.

Yes, the newer version does not have (LED) status lights. So what.

I linked mine with a Vera2 (paired just fine) and so this is the version to get, not the older one. Works as advertised.

Installed this unit and "included" it into my MiCasaVerde Vera 3 Z-Wave network. Using and the associated mobile site (no apps, just Safari or other web browser), able to control HVAC from anywhere.

I'm not sure about any added functionality of using the Nexia subscription service at $8.99/month or purchasing a $29 Z-Wave App from the App store creating an account on MIOS and using a browser work OK (with no extra cost).

Very Nice!

After reading other reviews, I purchased this to add to my ADT Pulse. It was very easy to add to the Pulse system and is working great. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I like to use a daily program to run my HVAC, then modify it as necessary during the day (either warmer or cooler). This thermostat has a scheduling function, but it's turned off by default. And to turn it on you need to access an installer screen. I did this and now I have a schedule set up. But the assumption is that you will control the thermostat from your Z-wave controller, so the scheduling program is off. It took a while to find this info because the instruction sheet that comes with the thermostat is about installing and basic usage. They're great directions for what they do, but I had to go through the Trane website to find the user manual.

My HVAC system already had a 5-wire hookup, so that aided in making the installation easy. I had to hook up the 5th wire to the power supply, but the included instructions advised where to make the connections on the HVAC fan circuit board. It was a breeze. I'm not sure how it would have gone without the 5th wire, so I checked to make sure I had it before ordering. I would strongly advise doing the same thing.

Honest reviews on Trane TZEMT400BB3 Remote Energy Management Thermostat

I purchased this thermostat and set it up without challenge into a Schlage/Nexia system (sister company of Trane). I purchased it for my second home, which is a year-round home. Idea being we keep the temperature safely low but turn on the heat as we're headed out there.

BUT, as noted in other reviews, the thermostat doesn't allow programming below 55 degrees F. Given the cost of fuel oil, and the fact that my house can easily be set at 40 degrees without issues of freezing, this was a massive waste of money and effort. Most amazing to me is how this is much higher than the other digital thermostats I've looked at and how they say nothing about it in the literature on the site or in the product. It was only when I phoned customer service (during business hours as they don't run the lines on weekends when you're wrestling with this sort of thing) that I learned it couldn't be set below 55.

Seems to me the whole point of a remote thermostat is being able to crank it down and manage it while away, and this massive gap versus the rest of the market suggests you should keep looking for one more suitable if you want that flexibility.

I now have two of these thermostats and both easily installed and set up was a breeze. I did have one question regarding wiring which their tech support was super. got right through, quickly explained what I needed to do, and I was off and running in no time. The Z-Wave setup was a snap and I can check/control each thermostat from my Droid, along with getting alerts when the temp drops below or rises above a set level. I highly recommend Trane and these thermostats!

After years of replacing cool-mist filters, I wanted to try a humidifier with a so-called permanent filter. The noise is not really any more bothersome than other cool-mist humidifiers on the market. The problem with this product is the filter system. For the first month or so, I was able to keep the filter clean per the product instructions. But then, as with all cool mist humidifiers, the filter accumulates dust from the air intake and other mineral deposits. Unfortunately, it is absoultely impossible to clean the deposits and debris out of the interior wicking of the filter. The manufacturer's instructions say (in fact warn) only to clean the unit using vinegar...well, that method only works for some of the mineral deposits for the first 4 weeks or so. Plus, even with the vinegar method, you can't get the particles washed out of the interior of the filter! So after 3 months, the perma-filter doesn't retain sufficient moisture to effectively humidify the air. You are better off buying a regular cool-mist humidifier with a filter that can be replaced every few months. It will save you time, money and frustration. I have never written a review of any product before but this product is so poor that I felt compelled to do so at this time and warn others not to make the same mistake I made. This is truly one of the worst products I have ever purchased.

We bought 3 of these humidifiers last year for all our bedrooms. Even though it was a big chunk of money, I was tired of continually having to buy replacement disposable filters for our previous humidifiers (Holmes). Three at a time got expensive!

We were so excited to use our Honeywell humidifiers, and they worked like a dream. During the winter our kids had serious coughs, and we could adjust the humidity output to make the room extremely humid for them, and keep it at a medium level for ourselves. They worked wonderfully, and I was 100% satisfied.

As time went on, I realized cleanning them was quite a chore, and using vinegar (to remove hardwater buildup) did nothing for the moldy smell. Rather than use the 1tsp of bleach (recommended), I found I had to use at least 1 cup to get rid of the mildew smell. After cleanning the filters like this about 6 times, they became quite degenerated, and no longer held enough water to get moisture adequately into the air.

Frustrated, I (then) read reviews and heard you could not buy replacement filters. However, I decided to call Honeywell myself, since I couldn't bring myself to throw away 3 expensive humidifiers. I called Honeywell's Customer Care (1-800-554-4558) and found out you CAN buy replacement filters, at $24.99 each, with 6.95 shipping (for any size order).

Despite the filter issue, my overall opinion is that these are still terrific humidifiers, and I'm glad to continue using ours. However, beware that the filter will not last the life of the machine even though it's considered to be a "permanent" filter. Going forward, I'm going to be sure to stay on top of cleanning mine out (at least every 2-3 weeks), in order to be able to use less bleach and extend the filter life.

Even if I do have to replace the filters every year or 2, in the long run it's still alot cheaper than buying disposable ones monthly. And you'll enjoy a very nice humidifier (with multiple humidity settings) in the process.

I purchased this product at a retail store recently and overall I think it's great. I was concerned about a line in the manual that said to discard the filter at the end of the season, but when I contacted Kaz / honeywell about it, they said it was a misprint and with proper care the filter will last for the life of the product. Makes sense since that's what is advertised on the box! They got back to me quickly, too.

The machine is not silent, it's got a fan on it which to me provides some nice white noise to block out odd noises that might bother my sleep. It obviously puts out a lot of moisture because I have to refill the tank once a day, and that does as well as the crappy old vicks vaporizers that I used to use...those things were terrible. They made boiling bubbly noises and started to spit when they got old. 65 bucks for the Honeywell isn't cheap (not to me anyway) but the cost was worth it so far. I haven't had it very long yet so we'll have to wait and see how it does in the long term.

Almost forgotthere is a dial control for humidity level; the window is green when the humidity is right, and blue when the humidity doesn't match the setting on the machine. It amounts to a nice night light since I don't know or care how it functions; I just leave it on high all the time.

Honest reviews on Honeywell QuietCare PermaFilter Humidifier, HCM-800

Ok, so here is the straight dope on the filters.

Basically, this unit operates under the same principle as a whole-house humidifier you would find in a forced-air heating system. So the "filter" is the same thing as a humidifier pad. The HCM 800, since it is self-contained, just uses its own blower, and the unevaporated water coming off the pad (filter) is recycled, rather than sent down the drain. So it is a given that you will get some amount of scaling throughout the system, and mold, etc., on the humidifier pad, just like in a whole-house unit.

I wouldn't try cleaning and then reusing the pad in a whole-house humidifier, and I wouldn't try do the same with the pad in these, either.

The good news, though, is that replacement humidifier pads are readily available, and cheap. For this unit, just get (for example) a HC22P humidifier pad, cut it down to size (about 6x9) and stick it in the plastic housing where the old pad came out. The pads are flexible when they are wet and are easily taken out and installed without damaging the rest of the unit. The HC22P is about $9 at Home Depot. You could get a bigger replacement pad and cut it into several replacements for the HCM 800 if you wanted to get it even cheaper. They cut adequately with a scissors, if you don't have a band saw handy.

Overall, the buildup on the HCM 800 isn't appreciably nastier than what you find in a lot of whole-house units, when they get serviced. Ok, those are pretty nasty, sure, but that is the price you pay if you want to avoid the fine mineral dust of a piezoelectric mist unit. Nobody gets humidified air without paying some sort of a price.

I had a Lux programmable thermostat before this one, but it had some issues with my heat pump system... so I purchased this as a replacement. I've used it for roughly a month or two now, and it has worked flawlessly.

Like the Lux t-stat I had previously, it has four daily programs. During the winter, I have mine set to warm the house before I wake up, keep the house cool when I'm at work, warm it back up before I come home, and cool it down when I'm sleeping. Unlike the Lux t-stat I had, this allows you to have a nighttime setting after midnight. For example, I have my latest setting to bring the house to 65 at 12:30am. The Lux t-stat wouldn't let me do that, because it's technically the next day, but this one accounts for that... which is helpful. You can choose a different set of programs for the weekend. Unlike some programmable t-stats, this one forces you to use the same program for Sat and Sun, instead of having separate programe for each of those days. It's not an issue for me, but it may be for some people. There are other t-stats that allow you to set Sat and Sun separately.

If you change the temperature manually, it will override the program until the next time interval that you set. If you decide to take a vacation, you can set the temperature manually, and press the 'hold' button to override the program until you release it yourself.

The screen is backlit when you change a setting, so you can see what you're doing at night.

Also, a really cool feature that I liked is that the t-stat learns how long it takes your house to change temperatures. Instead of toggling your heat at the time you set it to, it will toggle the heat earlier, so your house reaches the temperature you set by the time you specify. This means if you come home at 6, you don't have to set your heater to turn on at 5.... you set it to 6, and the heater will turn on at the time it learned it needs to turn on to get your house warm by 6.

The only issue I have with this is the aux heat. I wish there was a way to fine-tune how the auxiliary heating works. I'm not even sure how it works now it seems to turn on at random, and not when it makes sense (ie when it's extremely cold outside). I'm not a heating expert, so there may be a reason for this, but my old thermostat seemed to manage it better.

In any case, I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a heat pump programmable thermostat this works on both the heat pump and air conditioning side of things. Haven't tried the AC features yet, but I'm sure it'll be fine :)

This is a great functionally equivalent replacement for the Honeywell 8100 series heat pump thermostat. The terminals aren't exactly the same but I was able to figure out what went where by looking at the installation manuals for the old unit and the new one and lining up the functions. This unit is not billed as a homeowner installable (consumer grade) unit but I had no trouble installing it myself on my 2 stage heat, single stage cool heat pump. You'll need to know what kind of system you have, gas heat, electric heat etc but once you have the information you need, this is an easy install.

Best Deals on Honeywell TH4210D1005 Electronic Programmable Thermostat

My experience was on the TH4100D1007 model, but applies to this model too. After changing the batteries on the unit, the unit stopped working correctly . After trouble shooting on my own and reading up online, it was very clear it was the motherboard. I called honeywell, and they said the installing plumbing contractor would have to be called ( 80$ service call NOT to be covered under the 5 year warranty) in order for the licensed contractor who originally purchased the unit would have to be the one to file a claim. What if they are no longer in business! I told them I would happily pay for the replacement cost, but they said they could do nothing without the contractor calling and the contractor can't call unless they come out for a 80$ service call. Now that I know this "racket" , I would like everyone to know to ask their heating contractor to put in a "non-professional" thermostat that can be purchased at home depot , lowes , etc. That way i can serviced by you without the expensive service calls. I think Honeywell could have given me a chance to just get a new faceplate. They were unfriendly about it as well. Stay away from any models that start in TH and go for the PTH and save a lot of time and money.

Honest reviews on Honeywell TH4210D1005 Electronic Programmable Thermostat

It works as stated. No real problems here, but I hate this thermostat so much. The design was made by an engineer with no sense of intuition at all. When you look at it, it seems like a cluster***k of meaningless button. You get what you pay for though. There is a reason why this is on deep discount. The product experience just sucks. It's confusing. On top of that the pullout instructions barely tell you anything. They're barely instructions. I can't believe a huge company like this made such a crappy product. I had to watch a YouTube video to understand it -and I'm not old either, I'm not even 40 years old! I use computers and everything, but I found this to be dumb, dumb, dumb.

For example... Why is there no button, so that I can activate the light and see the screen, hm? And the language they use is confusing.

These things should be easier to use. I turn a wheel and set the temperature, then it remembers my preferences, and I can just leave it. That's how it should be. A wheel, a digital display to show me what's going on, and an on/off switch. In this day and age that shouldn't be too hard, should it? Then again there's always the "you get what you pay for" idea. A Nest Thermostat costs almost $200.

Since this thermostat is for a heat pump it has a lot of wires. I found typical wiring instructions online and was able to install it myself. It is so nice to set the temperatures for different parts of the day and not have to worry about turning it up and down. Keep the pullout card handy and you'll have no problem changing settings.

It took two tries to get this installed right. First, the velcro was a little too sticky. When I tried to move the fan, the velcro came unstuck from the fireplace and not the hook/loop like it's supposed to. Second, I thought the temperate sensor was supposed to go on the top side of the fireplace. The first attempt yielded melting wires and loud hums from the fan.

The second attempt, I made a "bed" with insulation tape (the kind you put on door jams) and put some 2.5" wide velcro tape on the bed. This thoroughly insulated the fan from the fireplace shell. Then I took the magnet and sensor and put a screw through them so they would hold together and stuck it to the bottom of the fireplace.

Everything is working great. Other than the sound of the air moving, you can't tell the fan is on. And now the entire room warms nicely when the fireplace is on.

Does a good job and makes my otherwise useless gas fireplace useful. It puts some actual heat into the room. Instructions could have been better but it's pretty straight forward. Basically stick the blower unit to the back of the fireplace, plug it in and put the magnetic temperature switch on the top of fire pan. The unit doesn't come on as soon as it has power. It waits until the fireplace warms up and then turns on. It will also stay on for a few minutes when you turn the fireplace off to push the residual heat into the room. The noise from the fan is a little louder than I thought it would be but not too bad. There is also a fan speed control to adjust the speed (and noise) of the fan. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase and performance of the unit.

I have one in our fireplace, I installed this one in a friend's fireplace, and two other friends each have one similar to this also. They are well built units and work well. I also want to mention that the support from "fireplaceblowers" is excellent. They promptly answered questions by email and were available by phone as advertised on their website.

My installation is good but my friend's installation had an issue. These work by placing the blower below and at the back of the firebox so it blows air up the back air gap and out the top grill. The issue is my friend's fireplace has a much larger air gap (3" vs 1" in my fireplace) along the sides of the firebox which allowed a lot of the air to go down the sides to the bottom instead of out the top grill and thus recirculate into the blower. This heated up the gap under of the fireplace box which should have been cooled by incoming air. Fireplaceblowers immediately answered my phone call but, unfortuneately, did not have a ready solution. However, being able to discuss it with them helped as I devised a solution. I bought a 3x3 ft sheet of galvanized steel at Lowes, cut two 2.75 inch strips and put one strip in each air gap along the sides of fireplace to restrict the air flow along the sides. I left the 0.25 inch gap to allow side air flow if the fireplace is run without the blower. I also tested this reduced air gap to ensure I did not overheat anything but since the 3" air gap is still there, the only thing is a slight restriction of a thermally driven flow. Without an exact sketch of how I placed these sheet strips, I hope you get the idea. This worked to restrict downward side air flow, recirculating air along the sides is minimal, and good warm air is flowing out the top grill.

Unit worked good for the first two times I used it. I was smoking a chicken and within a couple of minutes the temp went from 140 to 200 degrees same as the other review stated. I took out the probe and left it plugged it for awhile but the temp never went below 95 degrees. It seems to be the probe itself that has the problem as switching it to the barbeque side gives the same results. The probe also seems to have pulled away from the plug a bit which could have contributed to the problem. I've been very careful with this unit since day one so I'm not sure why this happened. I do notice that they have replacement probes available on the instruction sheet for an additional $12.95 but I did not feel I should have to shell out more money just after paying $79.00. Item is one of two I've ever returned to Amazon.

I purchased the ET-732 to use on my Big Green Egg. Of course, Amazon shipped quickly and I was excited to receive the package, only to discover when I opened the product, the face plate on the transmitter was not attached, but was kinda stuck to a random spot on the front of the unit, as if it had come loose in shipping and found a resting place. The piece i am referring to is the black piece surrounding the LCD on the unit. As far as I can tell, it's cosmetic only, but it is supposed to sit flush in a recessed area on the front of the unit, and is apparently just held on (or not) with a very thin layer of adhesive. I stuck it back on and burnished it with a lint-free cloth, hoping the pressure and friction would stick it permanently. It looked good as new, so I was off and cooking as soon as the weekend rolled around.

The product performed great, and was fairly intuitive to set up. I think the instructions could be a little more helpful about probe placement and such, but I knew what I was doing. A friend of mine just purchased one and I found out he has been using the grill probe incorrectly, so that's a bad sign. There really isn't much in the way of details on how to use the grill probe clip, where to put the probe, etc. I found the clips and stands on the units to be wonderful, with the clip for the transmitter working perfectly to hang the unit on the hinge of the BGE. This puts the unit and all the probe wires completely out of sight and out of the way, with plenty of reach (and not too much slack) to get into the grill and the meat. I had no issues with range at all (though admittedly I didn't try to push it), and always had a signal inside my block home. The stand and backlight on the receiver are nice touches, perfect for the overnight smoke. The alarms are also quite loud.

Truly, I can't imagine owning a Big Green Egg without one of these. Actually, I sort of can, because I cooked a few things in the 4-5 hour range before I got this, and babysitting a grill in the Summer heat is for the birds. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I felt like I had to get up every hour or two to check on things. With this, as long as you set the alarms, you know that if it's not beeping at you, you're good to go.

I am glad that the transmitter unit is waterproof/resistant, so no worries about a little rain. In fact, the only issue I have with the product AT ALL is that, when I woke up from my first long overnight cook, I went outside to check on things, and everything was FANTASTIC...except the face plate from the transmitter was lying on the deck. :( I had been hoping that between my burnishing the plate down and a little heat from the sun and the grill (not excessive heat at all, mind you), the adhesive would get a little stickier and it would permanently stick it down. No such luck. It falls off pretty much every time I use it. The adhesive still seems tacky, and attracts a little lint. I have rinsed it lightly before to get it back nice and tacky and remove any lint, but it's just not going to happen. The plate is not meant to stay put. This cosmetic/build quality/QC issue is the one reason I had to ding the 732 a star and only rate it a 4. I have a feeling this is a design/manufacturing defect, and I would be surprised if I'm the only one with the problem. It would NOT, however, deter me from buying again or recommending to others (as I have many times).

UPDATE 1/2/2012:

I have to adjust my rating downwar to 3 stars because I feel this unit is suffering from some cost-cutting measures by Maverick. I have explained the situation in full in the reply comments below this post, but in short, the probes in this product have a bit of a bad reputation for failing easily/early, and mine died in under 6 months. The solution/workaround that is prevalent in the discussion forums is to seal the probes where the wire goes in with some kind of sealant. There are rubber gaskets in there from the factory, which, while I suppose it better than nothing, doesn't seem to be sufficient to protect the apparently super=sensitive electronics inside the probes. The probes themselves are crimped where the wire enters, and it stands to reason that having a rubber gasket and a crimp in the same location won't make for a very good seal. The look of it never inspired much confidence, but I was willing to let it slide because it worked. Well, that's until it stopped working. It seems my instincts here were right, and the comments online about the probes in this unit being prone to failure are well-founded. Whatever you do, if you still decide to buy one of these (which is GREAT in every other respect), do yourself a favors a BABY the probes. Keep them inside, on a shelf. Never touch them with water. Treat them as if they are going to break or dissolve or explode. In my experience, if you treat them only "well enough," they just might give up on you.

Works as advertised!

Produces great Ribs, Butts, Roasts, Chicken, really any meat you care to grill.

Use it to calibrate you range oven, and understand what settings on the oven dial are the least accurate.

Carry the remote in your pocket, or place it in the stand where you can check it with a glance.

Works in every room of the house and around my property. Has never lost connection once set.

Alarms work great to alert you when to add charcoal, or let you know if the temp is running contrary to your plan.

Well made, easy to use.

If I could only have one thermometer, this is the one I would choose.

Never have to guess whether it's done. I've used it on ribs, roasts, steaks, salmon, chicken, turkey all with the same great results.

This one tool can take your cooking to the next level!

Honest reviews on Maverick Wireless BBQ Thermometer Set - Maverick ET732

This is the remote combo we've all been waiting for. It turns on and off easily, survives very high heat, gives accurate readings of the grill/oven as well as the meat, and has a decent range so you can keep an eye on the grill even from the other side of the house! The high/low temperature alarm is great for when I am smoking or doing sous vide so that everything stays in range. This is nearly perfect! The only annoyances I have with it are the programming of hi/low temps is tedious, and that the plastic on the back that holds the wire stands in place is pretty flimsy. I don't care much about the stand on the base since I'm mostly using the remote anyways, but changing temperatures is quite pitiful. In the 21st century i don't think it's too much to ask that we be able to adjust a digital number both up and down, rather than having to always go up and just scroll around and hope you don't overshoot. It's just poor UI design. they fixed the on/off switches, so maybe the ET735 will have better programming!

I use paper towels lightly moistened wrapped around the first foot of the probe wire closost to the probe followed by a layer of foil. This protects it from the heat of the smoker. Also never submerge where cable and probe meet. You can clean the probe without submerging, I've been doing it this way for 10 years and I know it works. I also generally don't put the probe in until meat is almost done, further saving the probe from the fire. I generally get 3 or 4 years from a probe and I cook alot with these. I hope this helps.

I attached it to a QuadraFire pellet stove and it works well. The only thing that would make it better would be a method to attach it temporarily to a wall like a regular thermostat. I used a peel and stick command strip, but think a piece of velcro might work better if you are taking it down a lot. Otherwise, I recommend it.

This product works well and was easy to setup and install. If you are thinking of purchasing one be aware that I sent mine back twice as it just looked plain beatup upon arrival. I was assured by the vendor they were new units. I don't understand how something new can be all scuffed up. Funtionality is great! Presentation not so much :(

For the price, it is a great little fountain. We previously had a much larger one, but the problem was it took over 5 pounds of chocolate just to keep it going. This one is so easy to use and takes about 2 pounds.

If you need more it is very easy to quickly add more chocolate. It's a good buy but don't expect it to be large. It does the job for small parties.

Bought the machine with hopes of using it for two weddings. Luckily, used it first for my granddaughter's baptism. The machine was noisy, but worked so-so. Several weeks later, decided that we needed to try it again before the weddings. Even noisier and then quit working completely. Threw it in the trash and ordered a different machine from a different company.

Bought this for a baby shower I was hosting for my sister. It was a little noisy, but that was ok, didn't expect much for the price. It worked fine for the shower except the heater didn't seem to get as hot as needed to keep the chocolate a smooth consistancy. I pre-heated the chocolate and it flowed beautifully and worked great. After about an hour into the party the chocolate seemed to start cooling down and getting thicker. Had to stop it and return the chocolate to the microwave to heat again. This worked fine for the remainder of the shower.

After being in storage for a few more months, I took it to a banquet for my daughters cheerleading team. Soon as I started setting it up on the table one of the other parents told me she had bought one exactly like mine but hers had only lasted until the second use. Jokingly I told her this was the second time I had used mine so we would see if mine was junk too, well guess what? the same thing again, after about 30 minutes I had to reheat the chocolate to get it smooth enough to flow properly (even added more oil to thin it out), after being on and running for about an hour the motor quit, just completely died!!!! The heater was still on, the light was still on, you could even feel the motor trying to turn the auger, but nothing!!! Turned it off for a while to see if it was just overheated and let it cool down but when I tried turning it back on... Nothing! It's not a purchase I expected to last forever, but I sure didn't expect it to be junk. (And of course it's past the 90 day warranty) I just suggest if you intend to buy this brand you may want to run it every few weeks just to make sure it's going to last before the warranty expires. According to these reviews and previous owners comments, this brand only last for a couple uses.

September 2010I need to update my previous review. All the information I wrote in this review is correct, but after complaing so much to my husband about what happend to this fountain, he took a few things apart, took pliars and manually turned the thing that the spiral sits on to raise the chocolate to the top and now it's working again. I havn't used it yet for a party so I'm not really sure how long it will work again, but for now it's working.

Honest reviews on Total Chef TCCSF-02 Stainless Steel 2-Tier Chocolate Fountain

This chocolate fountain machine does not work at all. I tried multiple times to get this machine to work with different types of chocolate and the motor will never turn the chocolate and not get warm enough. It put a little damper on my new years party. Would not recommend this product for anyone to purchase

I bought this last year and I have used it twice. It is very loud! I had to turn it off at one party because it was just too loud to have going. Also it is hard to get it to sheet the right way, you have to keep adjusting the legs to get it even enough to pour down right.

So after owning a quite a few electric blankets over the years, I decided to give this particular sunbeam model a try. I've had good experiences with their electric blankets and I was able to buy the Queen Lagoon version at a great price. One thing you should know about these blankets is that if you take care of them properly, they will last a lot longer. If you continually fold them and store them in areas where they can be damaged... then the shelf life will be shorter.

With that being said, this fleece blanket was great! The material is a bit more sturdy then usual, but still soft to the touch. If you have ever owned one of the sunbeam throws, its like having that material over the size of entire blanket. The stylish quilted pattern also looked great as a queen sized bedspread. I was surprised by the amount of heat pumped out from this simple little blanket. Even on a medium to low setting, the heat was sufficient enough for our needs. The heating zones on the queen also proved to be very usefull. It allowed me and my fiance to have custom heat settings on both sides of the bed with no argument over whether their side was tool cold or hot. Overall, it was a great purchase at a good price and I would highly recomend.

This is my first experience with an electric blanket and let me tell you, it's awesome. Our little old house isn't properly sealed, so we try not to crank up the heater too much, knowing it'll quickly dissipate anyway. We use this blanket to help us keep warm when it gets into the low 50s indoors, and it is awesome especially when you first hop into bed. Usually I can unplug the blanket soon after that and my body heat and all the blankets keep me warm for the rest of the night.

The annoying thing about this product is that the controls never really worked. It was the second or third use when the light on the control started flashing orange all the time...I looked this up online and found that this means there's some sort of error. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has fixed that but we keep using it anyway. A faulty electric blanket doesn't seem like the smartest thing to use, but oh well. The biggest annoyance is that the auto-off thing doesn't work, so we just have to unplug it whenever we're done using it for the night.

One word for this product Amazing! I always wanted one of these but never could find one I like -this one was perfect. Had so many color/heating options, SO soft and comfortable and the customer service crew was very helpful in answering my questions. It's about as comfortable and easy to control as it gets, inexpensive and actually helped me SAVE money on heat! After my husband and I loved it so much, I got one for my daughter and a spare for our guest room, too. Also a great gift (and easy to travel with). I highly recommend it.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam Royal Dreams Heated Electric Blanket Quilted Fleece

I have been sleeping under electric blankets for 50 years, and this is one of the better ones I've gotten. Which is amazing considering how good the price was. The controls are easy to use even in the dark. You can't push the wrong button because there is only one button on and off. The amount of heat is controlled with a dial. And there is enough light to see the button to turn it off in the middle of the night. It is easy to find the button, the only button, in the dark as well. And enough light, but not too much, to change the setting in the middle of the night. But because the setting doesn't change every time you turn the blanket off, you are unlikely to need to do that once you find the setting you like.

The blanket is heavy enough to sleep under, during a black out, without the electric part of the blanket. I just did that for 6 days because of Sandy. Why is that important to someone who will be using the heat? Because my experience has taught me that a blanket that can stand on its own will provide very even heat when it is turned on and you need even heat.

Some people complained that they could feel the wires in the blanket. This is true. It is also true of every other electric blanket I've had over the last 50 years.

Some people complained that the blanket wasn't perfectly soft. This is also true. I use a duvet cover, but if you use a top sheet you will have similar experiences to mine. Because it wasn't perfectly soft, it also wasn't slippery. It stayed where it was supposed to stay inside the duvet cover. I expect it stays where it is supposed to stay with a top sheet too. I consider that a plus.

Blanket warms fine but material is rough and uncomfortable even my dog refuses to use it. The description gives the impression of a soft blanket but it feels almost like sand paper.

I wrapped my wellhead and exposed pipes and it does the job w/o insulation. ( I may add insulatiuon this year) Automatic switch works as advertised. If you have exposed pipes. This works.

We purchased this heat tape and the insulation for it and installed it 9/2011. It is still working. The install was straight forward and not difficult. This recent purchase is a backup.

This is a FOLLOWUP to my original review dated January 8, 2013. Heat tape installed 9/2011 has failed. Woke up early AM 1/21/2013 and pipes were frozen. We live in a 1992 moblie home, built for us and we have lived in it for 20 years. The original heat tape lasted us 15 years then failed. We a had it replaced by a heating contractor and that failed us within 2 years. That is when we replaced it ourselves with this product, now that has failed. Luckily I purchased a second one but I don't hold out much hope of that lasting very long. Will now go to hardware store to purchase a heat gun.

Honest reviews on M-D Building Products 64428 18-Foot Pipe Heating Cable

I did not appreciate that I am supposed to wrap the tape around the pipe, and then wrap everything with waterproof tape. We have freezing weather in Los Angeles about 2-3 days a year and it did not seem worth the effort to install.
