While this blanket certainly heats well, the location of the controls right in the middle of the blanket means that you're always fighting the wires and trying to get them out of the way. Also, the slightest bump changes the setting on the controls, so you frequently turn them higher or lower or even on and off without wanting to. I'm surprised that the manufacturer let this very poor design off the factory floor.

This is a nice blanket. It warms up reasonably fast and provides an even heat over the entire blanket area. The only thing I would change is where the power cord attaches to the blanket. The cord comes out in the middle of the blanket on one of the narrower sides. So, if you have the blanket over you in the long direction, from your shoulders to your feet, the cord comes out by either your neck or feet. Because of my wall outlet location, the cord has to be by my neck, which can be a nuisance. I think it would be much better if the cord came out one of the corners instead.

We got this blanket for Christmas and it actually works really, really well. There are three heat settings, plus it turns off after 3 hours so you don't have to worry about burning yourself or getting overly sweaty throughout the night. We actually DID save money on our power bill last winter (January was almost $40 lower than December!). It was pretty amazing. We're actually excited for winter again so we can use it. Very comfortable and very pretty looking on the bed the ivy color matches our drapes!

Honest reviews on Sunbeam Microplush Throw Blanket

Very pleased with my Sunbeam microplush electric throw. It warms up very quickly and then somehow adjusts to the temperature of your body. The warmth is even and consistent. DOES NOT feel like a thermostat is going on and off to adjust. All over warmth. I can equate the comfort to taking out a towel from a warm clothes dryer on a very cold day. The throw is not as soft as a microplush blanket because let's face it, it's an electric blanket and it has very supple wires inside...but you really can't feel them. The thermostat control doesn't look like the one pictured. It is long and is very easy to operate. One button changes the temperature from low to medium to high. Has a 3 hour shut off which is really convenient for kids who forget to shut it off or when sleeping. A couple of reviewers said that the plug was in the middle of the blanket, which is not so. The plug is positioned at the BOTTOM of the blanket in the middle. I don't find it to be in the way at all...also the electrical cord is sufficiently long enough to accommodate outlets behind a couch. Like it so much, I just ordered another one for my son who thinks the one I just got for myself, is his :) You won't regret this purchase!

I got this for my girlfriend for Christmas since she is always cold in the winter time.

Long story short, she ended up spending the majority of the winter curled up underneath it.

It warms up quickly, and kept her nice and toasty even when we turned down the heat to save on utilities.

Also, those who complain about the cord coming apart have not connected it properly. There is a plastic latch which when clipped in keeps the cord securely in place.

This is the largest refrigerator that my granddaughter's school allows in dorm rooms. It's in her room and is considered very nice. Lots of room and an ice freezer compartment too. It's quiet and well built. She likes it. There have been no problems with delivery or operation.

This items works well, has lots of space and a nice little freezer. It's quiet, nice to look at and only cut me once when I was trying to even out the feet. Be careful the bottom is sharp metal and will bite!

I LOVE AMAZON. Grateful for Prime. The refrigerator is exactly what I wanted. My mistake was that I did not order the bigger one. The first time I opened the fridge the door bracket that held the beer let loose and one bottle broke. So, here is my recommendation is super glue. Now it is perfect!

Honest reviews on SPT 2-1/2-Cubic Foot Compact Energy Star Refrigerator, White

I chose four stars because the shelves and brackets on the door fall out too easily when the fridge is full. If you keep bottles on the door they will knock loose the door bracket when you open it. Otherwise, this fridge has more room than many in the same price range. I think this thing would be perfect for a dorm room, man cave, camper or cabin. The freezer is a little small, but this is only a 2.5 gallon fridge so it is not expected to have a larger freezer.

Exactly what I was looking for. Great controls, and keeps drinks super cold! A lot of removable shelves which is also awesome.

This certainly isn't marketed at people with a knowledge of thermodynamics. It advertises that it uses 1/10 the heat of a space heater, but that means it also puts out 1/10 of the heat.

As as space heater I can see this thing being pretty poor because of its low heat output, but It worked perfectly for my application. I used it for a makeshift kotatsu (a Japanese heated table) It works great for that because you don't want 1000 watts cooking your feet. Its really thin, and it won't burn you if you hit it with your knee. It was a tad difficult to mount upside-down. I cut out some wooden mounting blocks and screwed it directly into the bottom of the table. They give you velcro to mount it vertically, which is a joke considering how heavy it is.

I bought this heater for our bird cage to keep them warm during cool season. Its radiant model works just great, zero noise, distributes the heat evenly and does not disturb the birds like the regular fan heater models that not only not energy efficient but also really noisy. And best of all, it uses only 100W try to compare it to any other regular heater that would eat 750W-1000W minimum. Got it amortized in less than two months. The overall dimension is about 16"x22"x1" so it can be placed anywhere. I'm glad I found this one and Amazon is the best and least expensive place to buy from.

It delivers what is advertised, but few people (including myself) actually realize how much heat 100W is.

It basically takes a 100W light bulb and spreads the energy across a 3x2 ft panel. It will raise the temp under your desk a degree or two, but if you are expecting "radiant" heat, you need to look elsewhere.

Honest reviews on Indus-Tool CL Cozy Legs Flat-Panel 150-Watt Radiant Heater

I thought this would be perfect for my office, which is always kept freezing cold. However, while it fits great under desk, low voltage etc, and the panel itself is warm, you can't feel any heat unless you are physically touching it. with it's feet it doesn't sit high enough to slide your feet underneath so your legs can actually be within an inch of the panel, I've raised it up on boxes on either side, so my feet can partially fit under, but still I freeze at work all day. not satisfied.

I purchased two of these 3 years ago for my bathroom. I mounted one under my towel bar and the other next to my toilet, then wired them to a motion sensing outlet for extra efficiency. I hate utility bills, so this item has been perfect for me. I now have warm towels and a warm toilet seat when wanted. They've also taken the winter chill out of my bathroom.

I'm now purchasing two more to mount under my living room futon to keep my wife and I's legs warm under a blanket while we watch movies this winter. I'd previously set a 1200 watt fin style space heater under there but the heat was too much when cranked and got cold when the thermostat shut off. Plus the risk of fire had me constantly checking it.

The warmth of the cozy legs panel is perfect for many applications, so be creative, just don't expect it to heat an entire room. I personally think they're awesome and very safe.

Highly Recommended,

David

This is a wonderful device! A single adjustable unit can play the role of multiple fixed non-contact detectors and more, if used properly. Here are some interesting applications I've already put the GT16 to work on most of which cannot be done with a fixed detector.

Early detection of electric fields

Unlike fixed models that work best at a set distance, you can use adjustable detectors to find potentially dangerous conductors behind covers such as plastic, rugs, thin walls, dry wall etc., it depends on the thickness and if the wiring isn't shielded by protective conduit. If the unit doesn't ring at its maximum sensitivity, then there is probably enough distance or insulation between those sources and you to reduce risk of an electric shock. The extra sensitivity thus, gives you a larger margin of safety by keeping you farther from those AC sources. Even if the field detected is not coming from mains AC, a field strength of a magnitude enough to turn on the GT16 has a potential for injury, so you are already alerted to proceed with added caution.

Feel a wire underneath a rug, not sure what it does? Before you even pull the rug open you have an idea what's there. You see exposed wires or extension cords all over at a job site, a basement or a backyard, that disappear into 'no where' or hanging all over the place, are they live or not? You can tell even without touching your detector to any wire, I've already tested the GT16 to alarm as far as 3' from an extension cord and 1' away when covered by 2 layers of rugs.

Isolating an unknown electric field

Using the GT16, sweep an area in arcs like with a metal detector, when the GT16 beeps, reduce the sensitivity slightly, move forward and sweep until it beeps again, keep repeating the sequence, you'll finally hit the AC source.

Estimating distance of a field using dial positions

Set at its lowest sensitivity setting, the GT16 detect mains voltage only when the nose is inserted into a known live and proper electrical socket. The GT16 alarms continuously inserted into the HOT or shortest socket, not when at the NEUTRAL or long socket or the GROUND or round socket.

With the lowest sensitivity now known, test the GT16 on an extension cord plugged into the socket. The GT16 detects the hot and neutral lines of the cord just like a fixed voltage detector: you need to touch that part of the cable with the nose of the GT16 for it to alarm.

Slowly pull away from the cord until the GT16 ceases to alarm, then adjust the sensitivity up until the alarm restarts. Note the distances and number of turns; I use my hand and finger widths as a ruler. For available cords I have around, I consistently get about 1-3'.

You now have an estimate of how far you are from the mains source of the AC field based on the dial settings.

Estimating lower voltages than mains voltage

Assuming the insulation of the wire or cord is similar, set the GT16 to lowest sensitivity and touch the nose to a cord or wire that outputs potential low VAC such as an old style HVAC thermostat. If the thermostat uses 120V or more, it should alarm at close contact similar to when you did calibration. If not, adjust sensitivity up until the alarm starts; the more sensitivity you need, the more likely the output AC is far lower than 120V. Since HVAC thermostats use much smaller wires and insulation, it even reflects more than the voltage is far below mains.

Estimating higher voltages than mains voltage

Assuming the insulation of the wire or cord is similar, set the GT16 to lowest sensitivity and touch the nose to a cord that could output higher VAC such as a 240V dryer. If the GT16 alarms at a distance farther than direct contact with the wire, the field strength is far greater and thus the output AC is above 120V. Often 240V and higher devices also use heavier and thicker insulation, which clues you that the voltage on that line is actually far greater than 120V.

Cons

The alarm should be louder

The LED should be brighter and more an intense RED or Orange. Greenlee should use a translucent yellow or white cover for the sensor as a diffuser for the LED, the transparent plastic has no practical use.

A recessed power button would be better to prevent accidental turn on

The dial should have markings from 1-9, so one can associate the numbers with the calibration

Its more likely to give false positive readings, that is telling users a dangerous voltage exists when there isn't [ note, this could be a Pro, better safe than sorry!]

Pros, beyond the functionality described

Single AAA battery; easy to replace, economical to run, compared to units using 2 AAA or 2 AA or watch battery types. Power consumption: 98mA with LED and beep, 2mA quiet. Battery works down to 1V. On 1.5V AAA Duracell 1000mAH alkaline this is ~ 10 hours of continuous use.

UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE: the GT16 makes a solid continuous beep when on and the battery power is too weak to power the device. Excellent!

Lightweight

High quality plastic polymer, thick, hefty

How durable the unit will last and survive drops remains unknown, however the unit has been in the Greenlee catalog since 2008 and is warranted for life, limited by Greenlee's terms.

Bought one of these to replace an old Greenlee I had for years. One of the really nice small round yellow ones. I loved the old one so I bought a new Greenlee. Had it for a week, and one day I tested a set of 3 wires for 480v. Checked the wires and read nothing. Checked a 110v outlet and it read voltage. Checked the 480, nothing. Looked at the bus bar and saw the disconnect was turned on. I should read voltage. Try again, and nothing. Put on the wires, and put directly on the screw terminals. Nothing. Tried the 110v, it read voltage. Didn't touch the dial at any time. Tried the 480, nothing. Checked the 480 with a meter, and had 280 on each line! DO NOT TRUST THIS TESTER! I would recommend everyone stay away from this tester.

This is very useful to test high voltage wiring without touching. The adjustable sensitivity feature was why I selected this model. Also AAA battery can last a long time.

Honest reviews on Greenlee GT-16 Adjustable Non-Contact Voltage Detector

Have owned and used this tool for about a year. Never really had total trust in the operation because of weird results caused by the sensitivity adjuster. Last week we cut into a 220v cable that showed to be dead regardless of setting. The cable was hot! so now the tool is DEAD through in the can along with a ruined cutter and pair of drawers. Replaced it with a Klein hope it is trustworthy.

If you turn the sensitivity all the way up, I swear it sense my body's current. But even all the way down, sometimes it detected current when I knew it was off. Then again, that may be the old house wiring I have. Scary? Anyways, I think it works fine if you know how to use it, but may be it is a tad too sensitive.

I too had high hopes that this device would "quietly" mitigate the humidity (RH) levels in our 2000 sq. ft. concrete-enclosed 42" crawl space.

Our Tjernlund V2D device is completely isolated from the wood floor joists (mounted directly & with rubber bushings, onto the top concrete foundation wall and up into the joist cavity, without touching any wood). Different foundation vent locations where tried but in each of them and in the quiet of the night we could definitely hear the run of the twin fans in our living areas upstairs, even under heavily insulated hardwood floors.

We've since _compromised_ on a vent location that is more remote from main living or bedroom areas.

To be clear, the V2D does seem to move along its rated amount of air, but at the expense of velocity noise (and frequency vibration if contacting any house structural components).

Another observation: the enclosed humidistat seems to sense the RH just at its mounted location -the foundation vent. This tends to skew the results for the rest of the crawl space. It has to be set way too high in order to match the digital hygrometer reading that is installed further into the crawl space area. To help solve that problem of always being 'on', my plan is to now separate the humidistat from the V2D unit and mount that component further into the crawl space as well.

At first I was impressed with the build quality and value of this unit. In fact, when first checking the device while being handheld it provided no clue (except it's attempt to levitate) as to any problems that would arise when actually mounted in application : it spun very solidly.

Perhaps the sting of the purchase could have been partially addressed by purchasing as separate fan and humidistat units ..and of course, thinking very hard about the amount of _quietness_ I was prepared to give up. And yes, it would have been quite helpful to have read more objective comments on this type of device before purchasing.

Installed two of these in my crawl space. They work well, run fine, and are well made. Initially, I had some noise issues and determined it was the vibration from the fans running. Fairly easy to fix, just isolate from the frame of the house. I used some strips of foam and rubber-covered washers and that solved the noise problem.

i can't tell you how much i hesitated buying this fan after reading reviews that said the fan was loud. i hate appliance noises. lost sleep over it.

all for naught!

this thing is SUPER QUIET and the fans are of higher quality than i was expecting. I am super satisfied. i'll try to upload a video soon so you can hear how quiet it really is. at one point i almost had to look to see if the blades were spinning.

4/19 EDIT: there's no suggestion or guidance on where to set the humidistat. couldn't even find conclusive info online.

my totally non-scientific number seems to be at 70%. it's on when the rainy days and humid mornings come, but not on all the time. And this application is in the very humid DC area.

kill-a-watt says this guy is working at 35.5 watts.

Honest reviews on Tjernlund UnderAire Crawl Space Ventilator - Deluxe Two-Fan, 220

I purchased this for my crawl space a few weeks ago. We've had dampness issues and with all the Atlanta area flooding/rain, I figured it would be an asset. I'm sure it is doing some good with air movement but it's so darn loud despite having exchanged it once already and making sure to install it to manufacturer's specs. From the reviews I had read, I expected to not hear this at all. However, in my essentially ranch style home with a 3-4 foot tall crawl space, it's as loud or louder than my A/C. Even my wife who normally thinks I blow things out of proportion and am too sensative thought it was just too noisy, especially at night.

I'll probably move it to the a far corner of my home and set it for "biblical floods" only, the humidistat at 80 percent or higher. I'd give it one start but I'm sure it is moving air under the house, so it's probably doing 2 stars worth of good-but at a price.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Tjernlund UnderAire Crawl Space Ventilator - Deluxe Two-Fan, 220

I almost didn't buy this unit after one customer complained about it being noisy. I'm glad I pulled the trigger because this is a very good unit! The fans are "not" noisy and in fact I was impressed with how quiet they are. I can not hear the fans at all when in the house and standing directly over the unit located in the crawl space. I can hear them when I'm out side but need to be within about 10-15 feet of them. For this reason, I installed them in a location away from my patio and porches so it isn't an issue.

Before installing, I put weather strip on the inside of the metal all around the perimeter. I used 1/2" thick weather strip. This allowed the unit to easily mount against the cement block and wood sill board without any problems. The top two screws went into the wood sill and the bottom two screws went into the cement blocks. The weather strip provides a nice seal and prevents vibration transfer to the house.

A very good unit and works well. I can tell the fans are of high quality and the design is solid. Only suggestion would be to have the manufacturer include some rubber grommits in with the packaging for further isolation. Not necessary but might help some peoples install.

I didnt go into this buy with much expectation. but upon receiving the heater, it was a little smaller looking than the picture leads it to be. What it lacks in size it makes up for in functionality. I am currently deployed and live in a 15x20 shack with two other guys, and it easily keeps us all warm at night on just the low setting. Also has a tip over switch on the base that keeps me from worrying about any mid-night fires. The small size has actually grown on me since we have very limited space to begin with. GREAT BUY!

The heater is smaller than expected; it's barely a foot tall, but it does the job admirably. It has two heat settings and when the room is warm, I turn the heater off and the room stays toasty for hours. Unlike another reviewer, I have not had problems with the oscillator making noise, but even without oscillating the heater still heats a room; the oscillator is just a bonus. It also has a fan setting that I will try out in warmer weather.

We purchased this heat tape and the insulation for it and installed it 9/2011. It is still working. The install was straight forward and not difficult. This recent purchase is a backup.

This is a FOLLOWUP to my original review dated January 8, 2013. Heat tape installed 9/2011 has failed. Woke up early AM 1/21/2013 and pipes were frozen. We live in a 1992 moblie home, built for us and we have lived in it for 20 years. The original heat tape lasted us 15 years then failed. We a had it replaced by a heating contractor and that failed us within 2 years. That is when we replaced it ourselves with this product, now that has failed. Luckily I purchased a second one but I don't hold out much hope of that lasting very long. Will now go to hardware store to purchase a heat gun.

Owning an old farmhouse in Maine often times equates to frozen pipes in the winter or ice jams on our enclosed porchthis heater offers tip over shut off, adjustable temp and other safety options which make it ideal to pop under a cupboard or put in an enclosed space to warm frozen pipes. It's not the prettiest most modern looking heater but having children and pets we needed a practical and safe heater should we want to have it running in higher traffic areas. This purchase is replacing a very very old heater of similar style which had worked well for us until it died of old age. We are very satisfied with our purchase.
