I have a white rodgers model 1f80-261 at home, and most of an office I work at has that model too. It is nice, easy to use, and programable for different times of the day. This model here is nice for the areas of an office, or an outbuilding, or just an office that is going to be open all the time and needs a consistent temperature. Easy to set, acurate, easy to read display. What more could one want. I have had my white rodgers for about 2 years now, doesn't miss a beat. I even had my mother install it in her house. Worth the investment. This is a great simple thermostat.

After 38 years serving of heating equipment the White-Rodgers products were used by all 700+ of our service people.

When I needed a thermostat for my own use I picked White-Rodgers.

So far it has worked well and a lot better than a more expensive programmable that only lasted two years from a competitor(Honeywell Programmable) that is sold in most hardware stores.Easy to install.Only drawback its not back lit but a real good job and quality for the money. Our AC/Heating service recommended White and Rodgers 700 for a non-programmable and called them bullet-proof.Glad we bought it and the past 2 months we have no problems as compared to the last one which we had problem from the beginning .The craftsmanship is not as flimsy as the competitors was. I would recommend it !

Honest reviews on White-Rodgers 700 Electronic Non-Programmable Single Stage

Replaced two Honeywell's that were horribly innacurate. The White Rodgers 700 is so much more professional and accurate...to the degree! You set it at 68 and you get 68. The lighted display and large numbers make it very easy to read. It works very well and I will always buy this brand now.

Used this to replace a similar thermostat which had failed. Installation instructions were fine. Installation is 'easy' except that the terminals for installing the wire leads are very poorly arranged. I uttered a swear word or two at my clumsy fingers working in a tight space. Very simple to use. In particular you do not have to remember any sequence of buttons to set the desired temperature--just push the up or down buttons. I liked the information window which provides more information than a competitor's equivalent. We are using this for AC and it holds a nice consistent temperature range. As a techie I checked the indicated temperature on the thermostat and found it a degree or two different from that shown by a plain old mercury thermometer. This can be re-adjusted but I didn't bother. We just moved the set temperature up or down for a couple of days until we found our comfort level which it maintains very well. For an economical unit it seems to be a well built product (better than our previous 'big box store' special) and it works as intended. I would recommend this as a simple manual non-programmable thermostat.

I did extensive research before purchasing my portable air conditioner. Thanks to some reviewers I learned that having a dual hose is key, as a double and contrary pressure inside one hose could create problems in the future (the AC pulls air from outside and releases air from the room, it's a double process get a dual hose). So I searched for a dual hose as a pre-requisite and the only one I found on Amazon was this 13,000 btu Soleus. Even though the room I needed it for was a relatively small bedroom, I went for this item. And I'm so happy I did!

The machine is really big, really huge, and extremely heavy. But pretty good looking, with a great design. Packaging was large and bulk, and it traveled a long way to where I am. The side panels were a bit damaged from shipping and handling and I hoped it wouldn't be a problem, so far not a problem.

There is nothing portable about it. Besides its heavy weight, once you install the window kit, the last thing you want is to keep moving it around and compromise a good installation.

I did not receive one of the accessories, the sliding panel, and the instructional dvd and manual showed that this was necessary for installing the AC on my window, but we figured it out in the end with what we had. My window is a horizontal sliding window. I adapted two of the panels I had (one with two exhaust hose openings and one with no openings) to one end of the window, mending the two to cover the entire vertical length. Attaching the exhaust hoses was really easy, all I had to do was make sure that the window kit was well screwed in my window, to hold, and then stretch the hoses and attach them to the AC unit.

When I plugged it in and turned it on it sounded like I had a plane's engine right inside my room. It was so loud! Later I grew used to it and now it doesn't bother me anymore, in fact, it helps, because it simply eliminates any other noises you might have from outside.

The first night after about three hours the AC mode simply shut off and it went into fan mode. A red light was on, indicating that the condensate holding tank was full. I couldn't believe this, since it had been on for only three hours! So I fit a small tray from my toaster oven under the drain plug and discarded all the water that came out of it.

The second night, we figured we should just leave the drain plug open and the toaster oven tray under it. We woke up to a flooded room, as the tray is barely enough to hold so much water.

Since the drain plug is so near the floor, the only solution was to put the AC on top of a low coffee table, which in fact, shortened the length of the exhaust hoses, optimizing the overall cooling capacity, as one of the hoses gets pretty warm and the longer the hose, the harder the AC will have to work to cool the air around it.

Now we have it all set. Our AC sits on top of a coffee table, with a bucket behind it and the tiny hose that came with it attached to the drain plug. The drain plug is always open, and the water that comes out of the unit simply fills the bucket to about 1/3, it is so much water! But the AC mode never shuts off anymore, and you get some healthy humidifying from having a bucket full of water in the bedroom and the hoses are less stretched, ensuring better cooling.

So far, so good! The AC does an excellent job of cooling the room and I absolutely love it!

I purchased this unit in July 2008 and I have had nothing but problems with it. The Soleus support line is always busy, and when you do get someone, they look for an answer and never call back. My front panel to control the unit does not work, and I have tried to get Soleus to replace the panel, with no luck. I have to use the remote control to use the A/C. Around 2 years of service, and the unit started leaking water. It appears the drain line for the unit is not placed far enough back, and so the water pan just drips out of the unit, right onto the floor. You can pay to have the unit shipped back and repaired they said, but the minimum charge is $150 plus shipping charges. Don't waste your money!

Best Deals on Soleus Air PH4-13R-01 13,000 BTU Evaporative Portable Air

This thing does not evaporate well, still have to empty the tray every other day. But it does not flood your floor it shuts off when full.

As for heating this unit is completely useless. A $50 ceramic unit will heat better than this heat pump.

Don't bother buying if your temp outside goes below 40 this unit will not heat to keep even 65. (This was heating a room around 250 sq ft)

Overpriced air conditioner.

Honest reviews on Soleus Air PH4-13R-01 13,000 BTU Evaporative Portable Air

I actually purchased Soleus Air PH4-13R-01 13,000 BTU Evaporative Portable Air Conditioner, 13,000 BTU Heater, Dehumidifier and Fan locally as the ones sold on Amazon are getting poor reviews, but mine shoots out 61°F cold air 24/7 and never leaks or needs to be drained although we are having the most humid summer I can ever remember. A favorite 2012 purchase which I would have purchased on Amazon were it not for all the bad reviews there.

UPDATE OCT 21, 2012 This A/C ran 24/7 up until about a week ago when it finally cooled off and never once did it leak or need to be drained. I am extremely happy with my Soleus Air PH4-13R-01!

UPDATE JUNE 30, 2013 It was very humid here and I ran this 24hours straight more for the humidity than for the heat at 61°F and it did not leak once. I have it set up to exhaust to the outside and intake inside air as my home is loose. Also I like having it set up next to the entry way window as that way I can use floor fans to direct the air up to 30feet into the room(s) I want. This weighs 80lbs so you really don't want to be moving it all the time. I am very thrilled with this portable A/C, dehumidifier, heater, and fan. I have used it as a heater during the winter too and that was great.

The heat pump for our house is probably a bit too old and under-sized for our house. For the last seven years or so I have placed a very small window AC unit in our (2nd story) master bedroom to help cool the house in the summer. Thinking that the window unit was making the house look a bit trashy we decided to replace it with this unit.

Overall, we are quite pleased with the unit, but it takes up quite a bit of space in the bedroom. Sometimes I think the window unit was easier in that sense certainly cheaper / took less indoor space.

A word about capacity the previous unit was only 8000 BTU this unit claims to be larger in capacity and it may very well be but it certainly seems to take a bit longer to cool the room / upper floor of the house. (this seems typical of this type read up online) BUT it isn't nearly as noisy as the old unit was. There is a small rattle that is solved by placing a small pillow on the left side of the unit annoying, but workable.

The remote is probably a cool feature, but we simply set to temp and move on. We never touch it. I'm curious how the heater will work in the winter.

Relatively easy to install took about an hour the unit is quite heavy over 100 lbs easily takes some effort to move.

Don't turn on for 24 hours after you've moved the unit especially if turned on it's side. I let the unit sit in our bedroom for a few days as we had to set it at an angle to transport.

CONS this unit is expensive, takes up a lot of room INSIDE of the house, might take a bit longer to cool than a window unit.

PROS easy to install, remote nice feature, works pretty well.

This replaced same one I have. Several years old. Last one probably lasted 5+ years or more. Not sure why it stopped working. It was the A/C side that quit. Was easiest to replace with same one since I knew had it worked.

If I was starting from scratch,I'd probably try new technology.

This review is for the 240V dryer. (GE makes two versions -the other version is 120V, and this version is 240V)

I recently bought this dryer because I already had the matching portable washer (which is awesome), and I moved to a new place that has regular laundry connections. The laundry area only has room for a stackable washer/dryer, and the washing machine is top-loading. So I bought the GE "stack rack" accessory and this dryer.

Before buying this dryer, I was using the combo washer/dryer unit that came with this place -a discontinued GE spacemaker unit. The dryer in the combo unit was nothing fancy, but it got the job done, seemed well-built and wasn't overly noisy, and I had no complaints with it.

This dryer is OK but has room for improvement.

Pros:

This dryer seems to dry the clothes well enough. I haven't tested all of the settings or cycles. It has multiple temperature settings which is nice. The design of the lint filter (in the door) works well.

Cons:

In my opinion it makes a strange noise. It has the usual low-pitched hum that you hear from most dryers (not an issue), but on top of that there is a higher-pitched rhythmic swishing noise that reminds me of a washing machine. It's not the clothes spinning around inside that make the noise...it's something in the mechanics of the machine. It was instantly noticable compared to the other dryer. I've gotten used to it, but it's not what I expected. On top of this, the matching "stack rack" that the dryer sits on makes a squeaking noise (see separate review), so overall, drying my clothes is a little noisy.

There's a hard plastic strip that runs all the way around the rim of the opening. There is already a small crack in it. On one side, it's not fully flat against the rim like it should be. The strip has a few notches in it by design, both on the top (facing down) and on the back (facing the inside of the dryer.) The notches feel rough, like they could potentially snag something. There is also a spot at the top, where the strip meets the rim, that is catching stray pieces of lint, hair, etc -which then stick down from the rim and can be difficult to pull out. Annoying! I'm not sure why GE designed it this way. My previous GE dryer didn't have this plastic strip.

Overall, it just seems kind of cheap. The knobs, the design, etc.

The other version (120v) has more positive reviews on various websites. I considered getting it for that reason, but went with this 240V version since I have the standard large outlet in the laundry area. Not sure the 120V would be any different in respect to the issues above.

I'm giving this 3 stars because although it dries the clothes as I would expect, I'm disappointed due to the issues above, as my previous GE dryer (in the combo unit) did not have these issues.

This is a nice 3-setting standard oil heater, and it DOES have a tip-over protection feature, unlike many. Doesn't make any expansion noises, though the thermostat cycling could wake up light sleepers (just put it on low or med setting and the unit will operate continuously without having to cycle off). Gets hot to the touch not a safety concern for adults but could be for younger children. Not sure what the other reviewer is referring to regarding the u-bolts. It took a sec to figure out how to attach them but they work just fine and hold the wheel bases on securely. My only quibble is that the wheels are not that great not large enough to roll the unit easily.

These oil-filled radiator-type heaters are a real bargain! (and i don't use that word often, or lightly). These things are definite cost-cutters! I have lowered my electric bill for heating from $90 per month, to a varying degree of $30 TO $40 per month, and the $40 bill occurs only when it's especially cold outside. This item runs on 110 Volt wall socket current (unlike the ELECTRICITY-MUNCHING 220 Volt unit in the ceiling, which is actually the A/C unit being used as a heat pump, which is NOT it's intended use, even though it can perform that function, but is SO INEFFICIENT while doing so). I use one of these to keep an entire 800 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment warm-as-needed in the winter, at over 4,000 feet in elevation in northern Arizona. Granted, we don't have winters here like back in my state of origin, Wisconsin. But, when it does get cold here, all i do is crank this baby up to 3/4's of maximum to warm it up, and then lower it to about 50% to maintain the desired temperature, and my electric bill still doesn't reach $50 per month! Quite a break from the old $90 per month! It is NOT recommended that you use a fan with this unit, as blowing air across it messes with the built-in thermostat, but at the coldest times, i do use a small 9 inch fan, set on the lowest speed, either drawing from in front of it, or blowing just over the top of it from behind (you'll find that if you do point a fan directly at it--i did, being me, i had to test it...lol--it will cause so much "SNAPPIN', CRACKLIN' & POPPIN'" that you wouldn't want to continue that VERY noisy way anyway (the internal oil gets cooled too fast as it rises, by the air moving over it from a direct blast from even a small fan, causing it to literally "snap, crackle & pop" when the cooler oil comes back in contact with the hotter oil inside...try it for a few minutes when you get this, you won't hurt it, and you'll see what i mean. It also will snap crackle & pop a bit when it's new out-of-the-box, but this goes away in a few minutes). With a small fan either drawing from the front, from about 2 feet away, or blowing just over the top of it, from about 2 feet behind, you'll have more heat than you know what to do with. And actually, once the room is warmed (and in my case, when all 800 square feet of my 1 bedroom apartment is warmed), it will keep it warm & toasty (sometimes too warm & toasty) all by itself, without any air-flow from a fan. My neighbor, who is our maintenance man at our apartment complex, who lives in a 2 bedroom, 1,250 square foot apartment, introduced me to these on a maintenance call. He uses 2 of these, only because his apartment is a 2 bedroom, with about 55% more square footage than mine. He said he has to be careful not to leave the thermostat set very high, or he "cooks" his family. But, the thing that really got my attention when we talked about these, was that his electric bill went from $120 per month using his A/C unit as a heat pump, to NO MORE THAN $70 per month with two of these, and he said even at the coldest times, he keeps his set at no more than 50%, and uses no fan! Take my word for it folks, if you're looking to save money on your heating bill, whether you have electric-generated heat, or gas-generated heat, or whatever-generated heat, these little helpers WILL save you money! Bank on it! I don't use my heat pump AT ALL anymore! Neither does the maintenance man. And the cost of one unit, for a 1 bedroom apartment, will be recouped in about one month's saving on your electric bill! Same math works for 2 of these units for a 2 bedroom apartment. A great buy! And WAY more efficient than either the ceramic or coil-type forced-air electric heaters. The only thing is, that they don't heat as fast as those other forced-air units, but once they are warmed up, the heat is constant, AND CHEAP!!

The last advice i'll give you is this...BUY THIS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS! I bought mine last July (i waited 'til now to write my review, because i wanted to see exactly how well it performed), because at the time, i paid only $34.99, with FREE Super-Saver shipping, when i bought this in July of 2011! (out of season). During the winter months, when demand for these is up (in season), they go way up in price, but are still worth it at $48.94 (the advertised price as of the time of this review).

Literally, the third time I used it, it gave a visible big spark (it comes with scary electric shortage sound) then died. I think this product can pose fire hazard.

Thinking backward, luckily I was right standing by the heater at the time of incidence (as it was just turned on), so I pulled off the wall plug quickly. Don't know if I was not there what would happen!

I got what I paid for, but certainly not expecting something scary like this.

I end up bought the honeywell type which comes with nice temperature control.

This is a great shoulder season(Spring/Fall) fan. Its output is very good, it moves a substantial amount of air. Importantly, for a bedroom application, it is reasonably quiet. Our world is full of remote controls for just about every function of living but the remote that comes with this fan is quite handy and it has a fairly long range(30+ feet).

There are only two weaknesses I've noted:

First, the temperature indicator can be off by as much as 12 degrees on the low side which could mean if you use the fan at night and set it at the lowest temperature setting, 55F, that the fan will actually cutoff at 67F. To get around this issue I just turnoff the AUTO function and use the remote to turn the fan on and off based on the temperature comfort level I want.I have two of these fans and one suffers from the inaccurate thermometer control and the other one is correct within a couple of degrees and functions fine. Luck of the draw.

The second weakness is in regards to being able to clean the fan and blade cage. It doesn't disassemble for easy cleaning. As someone else mentioned, you'll need something like Q-tips to clean up the fan blade guards, front then back. Not all that convenient.

Inspite of these issues I would still recommend this fan as being one of the better fans available for the purpose intended and at this price point.

Owned this fan years ago in college. I was excited to find it again on Amazon. This fan works great in any room, you can set the thermostat to what temp you want the room to reach. It has a remote and it has individual reversible fan mode. I use it in the kitchen to suck out the air while cooking. This fan is a very nice fan, doesnt look cheap. I use a handful of qtips to clean it once in a while. Its a FAN, not an AC, so if its 100 degrees and humid outside, it can only suck in the warm air and make it less warm. I also bought a small extension window screen acting like a double filter. Screens should be rinsed out as needed!

Best Deals on Bionaire Adjustable Twin Window Fan BW2100 with Digital Thermostat

I have had this fan for 2 years and forgot to review it when purchased. This is by far the best fan I have ever had, it's powerful, nice looking, and a dual fan that is VERY quiet. You can have either fan on or both blowing reverse or forward. The best feature for me on this fan is the digital thermostat, particularly on a summer night. Reason being, I can set the temperature on 65 degrees, and it will continue to blow cool air into my room until it reaches 65 degrees. The fan will start blowing again if the room temp rises above 65, therefore, ensuring your room remains cool all night.

Just buy it!

Honest reviews on Bionaire Adjustable Twin Window Fan BW2100 with Digital Thermostat

The fan works well. I run it 24x7. It's kind of a bummer that it won't turn back on after a power failure; you actually have to turn it back on. Level 3 is a little loud, but no buzz. Level 2 and 1 do have a distinct buzzing. I've either gotten used to it or its gotten quieter over the last month or so.

Good fan.

I bought this EXACT model in 2001, and along with steaming, blanching, roasting, etc., it clearly advertises itself as a "deep fryer" of which it does an excellent job. The manual even includes full frying instructions!

If Presto has decided to now say "don't fry in this", it is strictly a legal move. The problem is that Presto's "fry daddy" line has no temperature control, and it's preset low enough so that you can't set any frying liquid on fire. But these also have no versatility.

The multi-cooker can do so much more, because you can set the temperature from "warm" to 400 degrees. This is higher than the smoke point of some frying mediums (lard and shortening in particular) and therefore IF you don't know the smoke point of what you're using, you can get in trouble. This is probably why Presto's lawyers decided to say it's not a fryer anymore, although it clearly is. I, however, will happily continue to use my multi-cooker to make great fries, fried shrimp and chicken, donuts, etc. in addition to steaming and blanching vegetables, as well as braising. It's the most versatile appliance I own!

I just got this today at Walmart for more than 1/3 off Amazon's price and it says plain and clear that it IS for frying among other things..I tried it an the temp was accurate too. IT also has one of those new magnetic type cords for saftey and you can stick all of it (the pot and lid) in the dishwasher except the cord and thermostat thing. This is a great deal! IT does the job off a fryer, steamer and a crock pot and cost less than most of them do by themselves. I tried the steamer fuction too and it works great! I highly reccomend this, Try it , you won't be dissapointed!

I come from a large family, so i do a lot of cooking. This year everyone came to my house for Christmas, and not only was my mom impressed with my cooking, but also the way everything taste coming out of the steamer. She actually tried to take it home with her.... A week earlier, some of the guys came over, and my wife made her famous deep fried hot wings. The guys went nuts, especially, my brother Jarrick, he loved that there was little mess and because of the drop basket and tempature gauge, not mistakes.I'm buying one for my mom and my brother, at least that way i know i can keep my own! Thanks Presto

Honest reviews on Presto 06003 Options Electric Multi-Cooker/Steamer

I gave this for a Christmas present to my wife The Cooking Fiend in 2007 and she "purely loved" it. The temperature control was the best feature. She could perfectly sear a small pot roast and braise it in the same pan. It made soup outstandingly every single week. She used it many times every week. It worked great for deep-frying bluegill too. She cleaned it occasionally in the dishwasher but usually by hand, no abrasives. Imagine our dismay when she saw the non-stick finish flaking off. She just about cried, because while some may call us flaky folks, we do not use flaky cookware. So I'm on the hunt for something more durable. What a shame!

I, too, bought this cooker at Target believing it was a fryer and was disappointed that the instructions noted it was NOT a fryer. Unable to find anything I liked better (the plastic machines seem flimsy and clunky), I took the advice of the last reviewer and tried it as a deep-fryer for tofu and eggrolls. It works! The thermostat seems reliable, and it heats up quickly enough. Plus, it's dishwasher-safe and nonstick. The only disappointments include the fry-basket, which isn't optimum for draining oil and is awkward to handle with a removable pinch-handle-but I improvised with tongs. And it would be nice to have an airtight lid to store the oil-but the glass one does just fine if you change the oil occasionally. As someone who usually avoids frying foods for health reasons, this little pot allows me to cook the few fried goods I'd normally go out for as well, or even better, than how I'd get them at a restaurant-and it makes my "it-ain't-good-unless-it's-fried" husband feel like he's got a place in the kitchen.

It is portable, and I can leave it right against a wall and not worry (the wheels keep it 4 or so inches from the drywall) and the room where I do computer work is far from the thermostat for the oil burner, so it tends to be colder than the rooms next to the thermostat. This heater fills the warmth gap nicely. I even use the remote which came with it. As long as it stays connected to the power supply, it retains the last setting I used. When it is unplugged, it reverts to the default settings, so that is something to be watchful for. I have only used it on low; the high seems to have a large draw on the power supply and "high" is the default. It arrived before hurricane Sandy which left my home without power for seven days; a small generator helped us with absolutely necessary power such as keeping the fridge going, and I used this heater along with a small portable propane heater to keep the house bearable.
