I just got my Excalibur stainless steel dehydrator with stainless steel trays. I do not feel comfortable with using plastic to cook, which is another reason I got rid of my microwave a few years ago.. I think more raw, natural, the better -

I ordered this directly from Excalibur, not Amazon, to get the 10 year warranty. I researched many types of dehydrators. I've never had one, but eat mostly vegan, and decided that this was the next step to more alkaline food, tasty healthy treats, saving the planet from packaging, etc...

I ordered this Monday 5.6.13, and it was delivered today 5.8.13!!! So far the service is excellent!!

Out of the box, I read the instructions, read the cookbooks, and put the door handles on, and plugged it in!! It's been "going" all day! I've made banana, apple, potato, sweet potato, spinach, cilantro, green onions, and they are almost all done (6 + hrs later) . . .

I am so glad I got the 9 tray, as many of the other writers suggested, since 1 potato ( very thinly sliced) took 3 trays alone!! Once things shrink, they can be moved to make more space, but initially, the items take up a full tray. One apple too 2 trays.. until it started to shrink.

This product is well made, and I am so happy I spent the "big" bucks, and got the stainless steel trays... It's so simple and easy! I can't wait for holiday season, to give gifts to people.

So, it's ready to go, out of the box, basically... fits on the counter nicely and doesn't make much noise at all! It's been working hard all day and I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a dehydrator. This and my Vitamix are my 2 favorite and most expensive items in my kitchen. I think they are both made to last a life time, and the companies have excellent customer service.

So far so good!

I read all about the different dehydrators and reviews of so many models. And since most of the reviews were good no matter what unit it was, I could not figure out which one to buy.

...then found a user group who wrote a detailed review of pros and cons of different units and the strengths and weaknesses etc. it became very obvious that this style and brand of dehydrator WITH A TIMER is the only way to go. It

works so well. i also bought the "Pack of 9 Premium 14" x 14" Non-Stick Dehydrator SheetsFor Excalibur". you need these sheets for lots of reasons, you will see once you get going.

I have had it for 3 days and have used it for kale, strawberries, apples, pears, bananas, pears, sprouted sunflower seeds pumpkins seeds and almonds. Everything comes out fantastic. Rotate the trays and try different temps too. But start some of the fruits out on the sheets and once they are slightly dry peel them of the sheets and put directly onto the racks liners and they will dry faster. keep a sheeted tray in the bottom position and you will make a little less mess, but its no big deal to clean if some stuff collects in the bottom anyway.

a tip...if you have a bowl of mixed stuff you dehydrated at different temps like seeds at 105 and fruit at 135 and you want to "freshen it up a bit" (so your friends can taste it at its best), just dump a nice pile of the whole mixture on a sheeted tray an hour before they arrive, and run it at like 100-105 before serving.

I personally don't do a whole lot of drying of foods, so the 5 tray is more than adequate for my needs. Most people like the 9 tray though, that's totally up to you. Both are basically the same size, but the 9 tray is much higher.

The unit arrived in one day. Thank you Amazon for being awesome like always. This thing is fantastic. It has a self-timer and a heat control that goes up to about 155 deg F. Which is more than adequate. Depending on what you're drying too that is. I usually do "biltong" which is a South African version of beef jerky, but far far far far far better. Once you've had proper biltong, you won't want to eat jerky any longer. Jerky is way too dry and tough and hard to chew and your jaw is hurting after a few pieces. Biltong has different spices and is really tasty and does not need to be dried that long like jerky. It's up to you and your taste.

This machine is very nice. It is NOT loud. I have it on while watching a movie and it runs but it's not even given a thought. The aroma in the house is somewhat nice though.

I have made batches of biltong already and they came out so much better than I could have ever hoped. It's all in the recipe and the preparation. The drying piece is the last piece of it. The recipe is super simple and let your meat marinate for at least 4-8 hours, longer if you wish. AS you play around with the recipe, you'll learn what you like best. Then the Excalibur takes care of the drying.

It's great on other foods too, which i have not played around with yet at all. I have only used it for making biltong, thus far. I will continue to experiment. Highly recommended product.

This dehydrator works very well. I dehydrated apple, blueberries, bananas. I also made beef and turkey jerky all of which turn out great.

I would recommend this produt.

So, my wife is the one who uses it and I had to wait to see if she thought it was worth the price. Now that she has used it a few times and learned how it works, it seems to accomplish the task for which it was intended and does so with as little fuss as possible. I'll update this as time goes on. One thing I know is great. I bought the model with the timer, and as she usually only finds time to do her stuff late at night, it is great that she can turn on the timer and go to bed. That makes the additional cost for the timer worth every cent of its cost.

This is my third tankless hot water heater. Absolutely loved the first two. This one, however, has limitations I've never seen: maximum hot water temperature setting is 120 degrees. Living in SE Alaska, I need really hot water. I was pleased with the shower temperature, but for washing dishes, the water is just not hot enough. It never gets hot enough that you can't stick your hands in it. Put it into a dish basin/sink, however, and it's rapidly tepid. I never expected to have to heat hot water on the stove to wash my dishes having spent over $1000 (with required piping/plumbing) on this. I'd need at least another 20-30 degrees in temperature for adequately hot water for dish washing. My previous 2 tankless systems had plenty of hot water, and the ability to set the temperatures appropriately; the limitation on this one makes it sub-par, to say the least. If you live in a cold winter climate, such as the northern US, I'd try to find a different system if I were you.

The water heater stopped working on a Saturday after 7 months.

Called customer service, was told the replacement parts will be sent out the next Monday, and arrive on early Tuesday morning. Well, once the package arrived Tuesday afternoon, it turned out Rheem sent out only 1 part, missing the other part that was promised to be sent out in the beginning! I was told to wait for two more days for the other part to arrive, and the contractor will come to fix the problem only after the parts have arrived. Horrible customer service, can't believe they messed up such an easy task, and keep my family suffering from no hot water in the house.

The reason I give 2 star instead of 1 star is that when it works, the water heater works great.

I purchased this specific grill for use in a small kitchen at a swimming club. Using this just for hot dogs and hamburgers. This grill works great and is easy to clean. Especially like the fact that the temperature control is a Robert Shaw product. Very impressed.

Was really undecided between a number of grilles of varying price and finally made the decision to buy this one. Simple to use and clean. We use it every morning for breakfast and many evenings for dinner. Heats up really fast and pretty even. Just a great grille.

I measured the surface temperature with an infrared digital thermometer because I noticed inconsistent cooking of several foods. I found a 40 degree difference between the left and right sides of the grill. I called the manufacturer and they told me there should be no more than a 10 degree difference. I had the first one replaced only to find the same problem with the second one. I returned the second one as well.

If you're looking for quality, look no farther. This is the benchmark for electric griddles. Storing it was easy. It fits very nicely in an under-bed rolling storage bin. And I store it under a bunk bed in the grandkid's dorm which adjoins the kitchen here in our summer home.

I'm very pleased with this small space heater, mostly because the thermostat works quite well. On the last "inexpensive" heater I had, the thermostat was practically useless, and I finally decided to get a new one as I couldn't keep an even temperature. This unit is solid, attractive, warms quickly, and maintains an even temperature. My only criticism is the bright red light on the front when you plug it in. This makes no sense to me -the light should go on when you turn it on, not be on the whole time it's plugged in. So first, there's no way to know if it's on or not if it's not blowing air, and second, the light is much too bright at night. I had to put a piece of paper over it to dim it.

This is simply a great thermostat kit. While the installation of the duct temp probes and the set up programming are NOT for beginners, everything works great once its done. I especially like the user interface with regards to the temporary override feature where the user can select either permanent hold OR select how long the temporary setting is active. Recommend this product highly to everyone with the warning to have it professionally installed if you are unsure

This is the worst small heater I have ever used. I keep it under my desk at the office. The idiot thing can't run for more than 3 minutes before the "Overheat Protection" kicks in and shuts the heater down. I do not have the front or back blocked or anything else that would prevent proper airflow, which would cause it to shut down that fast. Once the auto-shut off does kick in, there is no way to turn the heater back on for at least 25 or 30 minutes. This things is a piece of garbage and a total waste of money. There are much better options in the price range for the money.

I replaced this with the "Honeywell Ceramic Space Heater" available on Amazon for $21. It works like a champ. I regret buying the Holmes product.

I had purchased this heater to replace one from Duraflame but found this one to be severely lacking. It has a single control knob that allows for two temperatures, off and blazing heat of the sun. This heater blasts out intense heat for a few moments, overheats and then shuts down. During the shutdown time you are freezing until it decides to throw more heat upon you.

This is a great shoulder season(Spring/Fall) fan. Its output is very good, it moves a substantial amount of air. Importantly, for a bedroom application, it is reasonably quiet. Our world is full of remote controls for just about every function of living but the remote that comes with this fan is quite handy and it has a fairly long range(30+ feet).

There are only two weaknesses I've noted:

First, the temperature indicator can be off by as much as 12 degrees on the low side which could mean if you use the fan at night and set it at the lowest temperature setting, 55F, that the fan will actually cutoff at 67F. To get around this issue I just turnoff the AUTO function and use the remote to turn the fan on and off based on the temperature comfort level I want.I have two of these fans and one suffers from the inaccurate thermometer control and the other one is correct within a couple of degrees and functions fine. Luck of the draw.

The second weakness is in regards to being able to clean the fan and blade cage. It doesn't disassemble for easy cleaning. As someone else mentioned, you'll need something like Q-tips to clean up the fan blade guards, front then back. Not all that convenient.

Inspite of these issues I would still recommend this fan as being one of the better fans available for the purpose intended and at this price point.

Owned this fan years ago in college. I was excited to find it again on Amazon. This fan works great in any room, you can set the thermostat to what temp you want the room to reach. It has a remote and it has individual reversible fan mode. I use it in the kitchen to suck out the air while cooking. This fan is a very nice fan, doesnt look cheap. I use a handful of qtips to clean it once in a while. Its a FAN, not an AC, so if its 100 degrees and humid outside, it can only suck in the warm air and make it less warm. I also bought a small extension window screen acting like a double filter. Screens should be rinsed out as needed!

Best Deals on Bionaire Adjustable Twin Window Fan BW2100 with Digital Thermostat

I have had this fan for 2 years and forgot to review it when purchased. This is by far the best fan I have ever had, it's powerful, nice looking, and a dual fan that is VERY quiet. You can have either fan on or both blowing reverse or forward. The best feature for me on this fan is the digital thermostat, particularly on a summer night. Reason being, I can set the temperature on 65 degrees, and it will continue to blow cool air into my room until it reaches 65 degrees. The fan will start blowing again if the room temp rises above 65, therefore, ensuring your room remains cool all night.

Just buy it!

Honest reviews on Bionaire Adjustable Twin Window Fan BW2100 with Digital Thermostat

The fan works well. I run it 24x7. It's kind of a bummer that it won't turn back on after a power failure; you actually have to turn it back on. Level 3 is a little loud, but no buzz. Level 2 and 1 do have a distinct buzzing. I've either gotten used to it or its gotten quieter over the last month or so.

Good fan.

If you have a Frigidaire dishwasher that stays stuck in the washing cycle and never finishes it is quite likely this part. Particularly, if you have the mechanical timer knob. If the thermostat is defective it will never finish a complete cycle. Replacing the thermostat made my dishwasher complete the cycle as it did when new. The timer isn't always the problem. Plus, its definitely cheaper than a timer which runs approximately $80 to $120.

Just got mine about 1 week ago. Made fish and chips just tonight. Figured it's time to put some back into the review pool and share the knowledge.

The reasons I chose this fryer turned out to be not the reason why I like it. But I do like it.

I bought this fryer because I thought it had a digital read out for temperature. This was Alton Brown's idea. But the digital read out does not serve this purpose! It is only for a timer countdown feature which works ok, but my handheld timer works better. The temperature control is actually a lacking feature because there are only four preset temperatures this fryer will lock in to (320, 3338, 356, 374) degrees F. This is fine for me since all I care about is the high temperature.

What turned out to be a very cool feature that I assumed might be a gimmick is the oil storage tray/filter system. Normally when you operate a fryer like this, you do your frying business and then let it cool down (takes 2 hours or more), then somehow "transfer" the oil back into a canister. You would need to strain the oil to get the debris out yourself. Likely, you would spill some of it.

This fryer, on the other hand, has a covered plastic "drawer" that sits underneath. When you are finished frying, you turn off the fryer, and turn the knob to "drain". Once the temperature cools down (approx 1-2 hours), the valve automatically opens up and fills up this drawer. There is a filter in the bottom of fryer bucket that keep the oil clean for you so you don't have to strain. When you're ready to use the oil again, you pull out this "drawer", open up a small valve on the end of it, and pour it back into the top and then BAM!, you're good to go. No mess. Very cool.

The drawer has a lid that enables you to disassemble it for the dishwasher. In fact, the element lifts off the top and then every piece in this thing goes right into the dishwasher for easy cleanup.

These big plusses that make this fryer worth buying: 1) Well built. 2) The automatic oil storage/drain/filter feature and the ability to break down everything for the dishwasher make this thing worth it hands down. 3) This unit also holds almost a gallon of oil, which is good since that means a fast recovery time temperature will stay hot which is the key to proper deep frying. 4) Can `dishwasher' everything except the element, including the oil drawer.

Not so great: the `digital' read out /timer is gimmicky but works to maintain one of the four temperatures. There is a fill line that you MUST NOT exceed that is only about halfway up the fryer, leaving you with a frying `depth' of only about 3". This is about normal for a fryer in this class through, so if you want a deeper basket, you'll need to get an entirely different class of fryers that don't have this no-clean up feature. The window on the top of the lid is useless since it fogs up in one nanosecond of frying. There's also a feature that reminds you to change your oil after TEN uses, which is totally lame since after about FIVE you'll want to change your oil, and that depends on how heave you fry. Since this thing has no way of telling if you fried 5 lbs of fries or one chicken nugget, it counts them as ONE and that counting feature is useless.

Also, there's a non-Emerilware version of this for about $35 less I'd go for that since the only difference is this `digital' readout which is useless.

And remember, with any fryer, unless you want your house to smell like a burger king, you'll want to operate this thing directly under a vent or better yet, outside.

So, my first fryer was the Emerilware Deep Fryer. I liked it. I liked it so much I bought two of them (one for my mom). Then I was asked to review the George Foreman Deep Fryer with Smart Spin Technology. Here is my comparison...

1. The empty Foreman fryer possibly weighed twice as much as the empty Emerilware.

2. DESIGN: The Foreman fryer's parts were difficult to assemble and take apart. The plastic parts appeared flimsy. The door latch is only on one side and both the latch and the open button seemed to get stuck. The fry basket was difficult to get in and out of position. The oil well has to be perfectly slid into position, then snapped into place. There's a lock/unlock button to keep the well in position that also gets stuck (but this might actually slide more easily with use). And the heating element mechanism was difficult to remove with the *extremely* flimsy handle. What bothered me the most about all these parts is that, in my experience, the more complicated an appliance is (with all the buttons, levers, locks, etc), the more likely something is going to break.

Meanwhile, the Emerilware is so ingeniously simple in design, it is idiot-proof. It's basically a vat of hot oil which you dip your fry basket and food into. But with the George Foreman, I had to read the instruction manual just to figure out how to take all the plastic and cardboard out of it. It was really, really complicated.

3. The Emerilware's basket CAPACITY is huge! The Foreman fryer can fit maybe 1/4 of a bag of frozen fries. I managed to fit 3/4 of a bag of frozen fries into the Emerilware fryer. I have no idea how you could cook fried chicken in the Foreman fryer, you'd be able to fit 2, maybe 3, drumsticks at most. I can fit 6 drumsticks in the Emerilware. And turning the food mid-way through cooking is much easier with the Emerilware, since the Foreman fryer's basket is so small and it's got a stick running right up the middle of the basket. I think the Emerilware fryer has about the largest capacity basket among all deep fryers.

4. Both fryers cost about the same. Both fryers take about the same amount of time to heat up (approx 10 mins upon powering up to the hottest setting). Both have a max temp. of 375 degrees F, which is about typical for most deep fryers. Both fryers have a short, magnetic power cord which will disconnect if something trips over it.

5. The Emerilware has a timer that beeps like an angry alarm clock when it goes off; it's loud and annoying. The Foreman fryer has a really nice timer which dings like a bell when it's done. You may miss hearing it though if you walk away and your home is noisy.

6. MAINTENANCE -Here's where the Emerilware really shines. When you're finished with your frying, you simply flip a lever and all the oil automatically filtrates into a storage compartment below the fryer, ready for re-use. Then, you take all the remaining parts (except for the heating element) and throw it into the dishwasher, as all parts are made of stainless steel or hard plastic.

But the Foreman, you have to wait for it to cool, then filter the used oil into your own containers using cheesecloth or some other filter. It is a mess! Then, the oil well must be washed by hand. Moreover, the grill basket purportedly can go into the dishwasher, but the handle does not come off the basket, which makes it take up a ton of bulky space. Plus, the handle is a really, really cheap plastic that looks like it could melt in the dishwasher, so I wouldn't run the heated dry cycle with it in there.

7. TASTE: Up to this point, I was prepared to give the Foreman fryer a big fat 1 star rating. My first batch of food was a handful of mozzarella sticks. (Note to buyers, do NOT use the spin cycle with mozzarella sticks.) The instruction manual has a chart with suggested frying and spinning times for different types of food. It didn't mention mozzarella sticks, so after frying according to the directions, I turned the nob to spin the food on high for 2 minutes. I opened the Foreman up to a HUGE mess. The cheese had spun seeped out of the sticks leaving me with these hollow breaded logs, plus melted cheese ALL OVER the basket. Yuck. But this was my bad. I tried another batch on low spin with similar results. Nevertheless, I tried one of the hollow cheese logs and was AMAZED!!! They were crunchy and crisp. I put them on a paper towel and plate and they left almost NO OIL on the paper!

I then cooked a batch of pierogies. 3 minutes fry, 2 minutes spin on low. They came out beautifully golden and tasted -INCREDIBLE!!!!! They didn't feel greasy to the touch and, again, left almost no oil on the paper towels meant to blot them. I have never tasted anything so good! I went nuts at that point. I fried some frozen french fries -CRISPY, TASTY, YUM! I fried some hash browns, those broke apart a bit during the spin cycle, but they didn't taste or feel greasy. They were DELICIOUS. I actually managed to eat all this food and only go through one napkin to wipe my fingers.

The Emerilware food tastes good since it manages to do a good job getting consistently hot enough, but it still has nothing on the food the Foreman produces.

8. SPIN CYCLE: I have to warn you that the spin cycle on the Foreman fryer is really loud. It's about as loud as a hair dryer on high or maybe your blender. Moreover, it tends to destroy the shape of some foods. Like I said earlier, all the cheese seeped out of my mozzarella sticks, whether on high or low. My hash browns got broken. You may get misshapen doughnuts. If food presentation (visually) is important, you might have to skip the spin cycle.

9. Weight Control: Look, you've got to be kidding yourself if you want to control you weight and, as a result, decide to buy the Foreman fryer. If you want to watch your fat intake, you should stay as far away from deep fryers as possible. And while it appears to be true that a lot of the oil in your fried food will be removed through the spinning process (as evidenced by the lack of oil coming off the blotting paper towels), and even if it's true that you'll remove an average of 33% more of the oil absorbed through frying than other machines, you're still going to end up eating a whole heck of a lot of grease. Just don't delude yourself. (Personally, I just make sure I always down some Alli pills, but you will probably pay for it the next day.)

10. Smell: The Emerilware has a really poor filter. If you use the fryer in the house, your home will smell like a fast food joint for hours unless you air it out. The Foreman fryer has an excellent filter, plus a lid that locks shut. After grilling a huge dinner, the house does not reek of oil, the way it usually does with the Emerilware.

CONCLUSION: If this were only about taste and quality of food, the George Foreman Deep Fryer would win by a Knock-Out, no questions asked. But judging both deep fryers overall, it's really hard to weigh the food quality against the machine maintenance issues. After much deliberation and soul searching, I think I favor the Emerilware's ease of cleaning and oil filtration. So, for me, I think that all the overall points hand the Emerilware the win.

PS: I'd like to address some of the complaints regarding oil overflow. I have owned this fryer for over a year now and have never had the oil flow out of the storage canister. But I mention that I have always been careful never to fill the oil beyond the MAX fill line. Unfortunately, the max and min fill lines are really faint and hard to read, so I suspect that many of the Emerilware's unhappy customers may have overfilled their machines.

If you found this review helpful, please let me know!

We picked this one rather than the non Emeril model for the digital setting of the temprature. I have heard digital was better for accuracy (Alton Brown). Set up was easy. Reading the manual is a must to figure out the digital controls. The self draining and filtering worked as it should. Pay attention to your oil levels do not overfill!!! The amount of food you can fry is good for a family of four. The only thing I wish this fryer had was a higher temp setting but, it seems to be the industry standard. We love this fryer!!

This fryer has performed exactly as advertised.

'

The draining and straining of the oil has been flawless and the oil is ready for reuse the next day without hints of prior use.

Clean up is easier than any fryer I have used in over 35 years of cooking. Heavy residues are easily removed with a good paper towel and the remainder of the normally messy clean up is almost fun.

Oil temperature is held consistently and reheating after inserting food is very fast.

Besides all of the above, it cooks like a pro.

It has been years since we owned a fryer. The memories of the rancid oil, the mess of cleaning it etc. all told us to never buy a new one. Then we saw this one by Emeril. After researching it we decided to buy it. It does everything that it advertises and is so easy to clean. Everything goes in the dishwasher except the electric part and the oil is stained so that it looks like it just came out of the jar. The container for storing the oil is easy to store. Overall this is a wonderful improvement over the old fryer we used to have. Thanks Emeril.

I bought this refrigerator for my son to take with him to college and it ended up being a terrific choice. We were limited to less than 4.5 cu. feet, so in going lower than that, I thought this would end up being pretty small. Unboxed however, it was larger than I expected and bigger than the picture would lead you to believe; I'm 5'7" and this comes nearly up to my hip.

I purchased the black, and the entire refrigerator outer surface is a matte, slightly textured sort of fingerprint-proof finish that wipes clean very easily.

This was surprisingly quiet; having checked out models in our local appliance stores and finding them all annoyingly loud, I didn't think I could do any worse picking one online. This was a very pleasant surprise. It was whisper quiet on startup and when it kicked in each time the cooling cycle started, it barely even registered. There was no vibration, even when things started getting stacked on top (a coffee maker and the usual cups and junk).

The shelf levels are pretty short, non-moveable and not practical for anything other than snack and leftover storage use, which is exactly what my son's dorm use happens to be. The refrigerator comes with a clear plastic tray with holes for keeping eggs from rolling around and a miniscule (useless) ice cube tray. The freezer compartment is very tiny and I can't even imagine what you could fit in there beyond a handful of Popsicles, although it got nice and cold even on the mid-cool setting.

Just one word of warning: my unit came undamaged, and I can't speak for all shippers' policies, but be aware that if your unit comes in its original manufacturer's box, check it out immediately. There is absolutely no packing inside the box besides a thin top and bottom piece of styrofoam. I took the top piece out to unbox it and to my horror, found there was nothing else, that the box was actually the size of the refrigerator.

Got the black fridge for my office and love it! I guess my complaints would be that at times it can be a tad loud and since I do not drink soda, the soda slot is lost real estate (the bars are not removable). Overall I like it a lot and am happy with the purchase.

We've had this compact or mini fridge for six months or so. It has turned out to be a very useful unit at a modest cost. We keep it next to our computers in our "office" area. We use it mostly for pop, fruit drinks, etc. Also, I store my camera film in the freezer compartment. It is truly self defrosting, quiet, holds a lot of beverages, and makes a fair auxiliary work table from time to time.

I sure recommend it.

I got the black fridge, and it works great. I mistakenly ordered the white one, contacted the seller, and my order was changed without a problem. I have it set up in my office. It is very quiet, it fits a lot of items for it's size, and I love the can holder! Now I'm stocking up on beverages. Wooo hoooo! A++++

A dent on the back edge of the refrigerator and the plastic strip on the top is cracked but it is difficult for me to return because it is too heavy for me. Also I don't know if the shipping charges are refundable. There is no styrofoam at the edges to protect the body of the refrigerator.
