It does a great job of keeping one warm with gentle but effective heat, providing comfort on a chilly evening. The cord is quite long, with a good-sized control pad that is easy to operate via up and down arrows. The plaid color palette is neutral and appears in real life as it does in the picture.
This blanket is, of course, throw-sized: ie, not really large enough to cover more than one entire person at a time. For me, though, it is useful as both a heated sofa throw and as a blanket next to my sheets to warm up the bed. If your bed needs to be completely covered by a blanket, a full-sized electric blanket may be a better choice.
If the need arose, I would not hesitate to purchase this again. Enjoy!
January 2013 update: Happy to report this blanket is still going strong. I did discover one thing with the controls. If you suddenly find that the controller seems to stop working (in my case it manifested as rapid blinking and an inability to change the heat setting), try unplugging it from your power outlet and plugging back in. Sounds simple, yes, but I had the issue and my fiancee had to figure that out for me. Also, I discovered while troubleshooting that the manufacturer has a five year warranty on their blankets if you submit the warranty form (which you can do on their website).

I bought this for my hubby because the old one that he had got fried. It was about 20 years old. I love this one because it stays on for 10 hours, which is GREAT because he uses this at night. It is very soft & a good weight for a nap or as your nighttime blanket. It has a good selection of heat settings to please everyone. The price was great also.Best Deals on Biddeford Heated Plush Throw
The Biddeford plaid heated plush throw is adequate in size for one person. It has a very long cord, about 12 feet. The control has 6 graduated heat settings. It does NOT automatically shut off after a couple of hours, which is one reason why I bought it.The electric cord set up is kind of strange. A flat cord exits one end in the middle of the blanket about 3 inches from the hem. This cord extends for about 3 feet, then divides into a Y with the long cord going to the electrical wall outlet, the other shorter cord holding the control at it's end. When I use the blanket I arrange the cord end up toward my shoulders because the back of my lounge chair is against the wall where the electrical outlet is. I turn the power on at the control, decide which heat setting I want, then let the control dangle over the side of my chair. It is not uncomfortable that way nor does the control pull on the blanket so I have no problem with it.
What is most surprising is how light and soft the material is. It's warmth is comforting but there is hardly any weight to it, and the fabric is soft as a kitten's fur. In fact as soon as I cover up with it to watch a little TV on these chilly evenings my cat jumps up into my lap and begins doing "the foot thing." She thinks it's her mommy. I would give it 6 stars if I could, 5 for me and another on behalf of my very happy cat.
Honest reviews on Biddeford Heated Plush Throw
Not sure about the other reviewer's comments. I have this and I actuallly think the cord is rather long. My daughter uses it on the top bunk of her bed before she goes to bed. Top bunk is at least 5' high plus extra length on the cord to reach the plug in. Heats up nice and toasty!!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Biddeford Heated Plush Throw
ProThis is a great product. It gets very warm and has an adjustable thermostat that wont turn off until 10 hours later. That means I can fall asleep and not have to worry about waking up cold.
Con
Im 5'10" so the throw only covers from my feet to the middle of chest.
