Let me first inform you that this product comes also with stainless steel shelfs. Do not buy chrome shelfs because they rust. Stainless shelf cost a little bit more, but it is worth it.

I think name "Sausage maker" hurts company, because people who want to eat raw wrote off this choice.

This dehydrator on its lowest setting dries between 90-105.

I chose stainless steel because it is sturdy, and large. To pay over 200 for plastic Excalibur is ridiculous. Excalibur commercial stainless steel cost over 4K. So this product looks cheap in comparison.

My impressions:

1. I was surprised when I unpacked this, how primitive really dehydrators are. This is basically just a box and inside is ittle heating element with fan. That's it. Any handy person can create ths for 50 dollars and probably better one. If you have a handy person around, you should build one.

2. D10 is made of stainless steel sheets that were screwed together. The door slides from up do down and is just piece of sheet metal with small vents. The edges of sheet metal are... sharp! and I am really surprised comapny did not invest a little money to put some rubber guards. I already cut myself on the edge of the door.

3. Dehydrator works well, it is quiet, has nice peaceful humming sound. It will not bother anybody, it has calming effect.

4. It is large and shelfs slide easily in and out. If you are serious about dehydrating, size matters. Anything smaller and you will be less productive, more frustruated.

5. You really need to buy teflon sheets for this. There are websites out there that sells these. Buy 2-4, you will need them. They are very easy to clean.

I am happy with this food dehydrator. I received it in a timely manner, and start using it the end of this summer. It has done a great job. I love the timer and heat settings. So far so good.
