Buy Line VoltageThermostat, Cool Only, White
I ordered this to cycle on an exhaust fan in the laundry room. Both the original and the replacement did the same thing. Always on until turned to max high temp then would shut off. Tried reversing wires and called tech support. Returned for money back. This is a good general purpose line voltage cooling thermostat. The good news is the deadband. Many of the line voltage thermostats very 8, 10, or more degrees between on and off. I'm using this thermostat to operate an exhaust fan used to cool a small data closet. Temperature control needs to be reasonably tight. This unit lists +/3 degrees sensitivity and my experience seems to indicate a deadband of about 4 degrees which is acceptable for what I'm doing. It uses a microswitch with bi-metal actuation and therefore is not affected by orientation (doesn't need to be exactly level). The readout temperature indicator is pretty cheap and I doubt it is very accurate but the setpoint knob seems to be right on. Works well.
