We installed this thermostat in an 11 unit, two story apartment building. The building is old with boiler heat. The original thermostat was in the owners unit. We recently have started to rent the unit out and that created a problem. If the tenant turned on the gas fireplace to warm up the living room, that "fooled" the thermostat into believing the entire building was warm and so the steam heat was not kicking in.
We put the new wireless WCT-32 unit in the hallway with a locking cover and the problem was solved. As a bonus, it seems to be very accurate and is holding a steady heat to all units better than the original.

We recently put a fireplace insert in our living room. I was concerned that because the thermostat for one of our zones would be influenced by the circulated heat, it might make the rest of the house on that zone unbearably cold. I wanted to relocate the thermostat, but I didn't want to run another wire, and it made sense to keep the existing thermostat where its at for the AC control.I searched for wireless thermostats, and found that they ranged from ~$150 up to $300 or more. I wanted something reliable, but without too many bells and whistles. I opted for this model and brand based on a few comments on other products I found, and it was made in the USA.
I have a mechanical engineering background, which helped in figuring out the wiring. The instructions didn't provide a lot of detail. But with a bit of internet surfing, and a few educated guesses, I was able to tie this into my existing setup. If you have a 2 wire system, you will need an isolation relay that is switched by the 24V source. There is a receiver that is mounted near the furnace, and the thermostat that is located in the place you want to control.
Once installed, I placed this about 40 feet away, through 2 walls, and a hardwood floor. I can't really tell you how far away you can place this, but it works flawlessly. I was worried that there could be too much RF interference from wireless networks, and other interference. But as I said, it has been trouble free.
We have radiant floor heating which reacts very slowly to changes. With this located in the far bedroom, we are able to keep that room comfortable for sleeping, while at the same time running the fireplace insert to reduce the energy required by the furnace. It was fairly easy to program. It is well made, and I really like the large display.
We have had zero degree weather, and I haven't given this a second thought.
I highly recommend this product.
