The Honeywell heater arrived packed within its own box within an Amazon box and was well protected. Getting started was as easy as plugging it in. All the features have little icons on the heater but you may need to review the instructions once to understand the icons. Pluses: the heater begins to warm immediately. Even the low power setting seems to generate heat for a small room. The oscillating feature is virtually soundless. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Minuses: While the temperature display is very easy to read, the actual temperature setting is like a toy. The heater does cycle off close to a setting but the displayed temperature is not very accurate. Also the temperature resets to 75 when the unit is turned off so your desired temperature must be reset every time the unit is turned on. Also, every button that is pressed creates an annoying "beep" that I cannot seem to turn off or decrease. Overall, this is a good basic heater suitable for smaller rooms.

I'm using this heater to help regulate temperature swings in an over air-conditioned office. You would expect that having a thermostatic control would direct the heater to switch on and off as required to maintain a narrow range around a preset temperature. With this Honeywell, comfort requires manual switching because the thermostatic temperature control functions poorly. When the heater reaches +1-2 degrees above the preset temperature, the fan and heater element shut off and the thermostat should then be monitoring room temperature to determine when to restart the heater, (at least that's how it's supposed to work).

Reality is: once the thermostat triggers the Honeywell heater to shut off at a preset 72 degrees; the fan stops immediately and the displayed temperature quickly rises about four degrees. As the unit cycles off there is no airflow over the temperature sensor so the thermostat is no longer sensing room temperature; it's actually sensing residual radiated heat from the unit itself. As the office A/C kicks in, actual room temperature drops from 72 to 66 but the Honeywell heater display shows 76 and won't cycle on because its temperature sensor is still responding to residual heat in the heater. At this point the thermostat was set at 72, the Honeywell temperature display shows 76, and the actual room temperature was 66. The only way to restart the heater at this point is to reset the Honeywell's thermostat to 78 or above. As the heater cycles on, the fan restores air circulation past the internal sensor and the temperature display indicator quickly drops from 76 to 66. Now the heater won't shut down until room temp reaches 80 degrees because it was necessary to reset the thermostat to 78 to get the heater to cycle on when the actual room temperature was 66.

This heater isn't a 'set it and forget it' affair. I found my office was consistently too cold, then too hot. This demonstrates a latent design defect where the temperature sensor is either located too close to the heater element, poorly shielded, or worse. Most thermostatically controlled heaters I've experienced, address this issue by continuing to run the fan for a couple of minutes after the heater element shuts off to dissipate residual heat and equalize internal heater temperature with room temperature so the thermostatic sensor is accurately tracking ambient room temp. I've already had two of these heaters, so it isn't a defective unit, its a defective design.

Your choices with this heater are 14 degree temperature swings with thermostat function, or switching the heater on and off manually. A remote control would be greatly appreciated since manual operation is necessary for temperature control. Note that competitive units INCLUDE a remote; my recommendation is to keep shopping until you locate a heater with a remote. (Ironic that a company that made its reputation for thermostatic controls can't make a thermostat function properly in a space heater.)

I'd speculate that similarly priced, thermostatically controlled space heaters would likely function as poorly as this Chinese-made Honeywell and I wouldn't be surprised to find they're all made in the same factory. In my opinion a remote control would be an infinitely more desirable feature than a poorly executed, wonky thermostatic control.

Heater warm quickly. Oscillating feature is very good. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Actual temperature setting is not real accurate but you learn to adjust to it. I don't like having to reset temperature each time unit is turned on, however, overall, this is a very good heater for small rooms.

Honest reviews on Honeywell Electronic Ceramic Tower Heater, HZ-3750GP

Not for babies, I wanted to keep temperature more or less constant at around 26oC for the small baby room, the HZ-3759GP turned out to be noisy and the room temperature goes down little more than two degrees oC below the set temperature before the unit turns on (too cold) and then the unit will not turn off until the temperature goes two degrees above set temperature (too hot), that is a 4oC temperature swing!!! of course I measured the temperature with a calibrated ambient thermometer...since the built in thermometer does not do a good job tracking the room temperature...may be that is the problem.

I am a research buff and read over 300 reviews on refrigerators. I wanted one at work to keep my drinks and food cold. Many reviews stated that this unit does not get cold enough. I beg to differ. This refrigerator gets colder than I can keep it. I have to lower the temp to a lower setting so my drinks won't freeze. I really like this unit a lot. It is small enough to hide under my desk and even behind my desk in the corner. No one really knows that I have one at work. I am well pleased with this unit and the maker is a well known brand overall. Danby is the maker and I will buy another one from them soon.

Danby may make nice refrigerators, and price-wise, their strongest competition seems to be Haier and Avanti, especially for compact fridge for use in dorm/offices.

Now, my previous personal fridge was a Haier which lasted for a good 2 1/2 years, but it suddenly died one day and I needed a quick replacement. I used it primarily for storing drinks and snacks, so I didn't need one that was "freezing" cold.

I did my fair share of research, and landed on this deal directly from amazon.

The problem with getting compact fridges shipped is the packaging. Note, this unit essentially has none, aside for a half inch thin "padding" of styrofoam on each side. It is shipped directly in its retail package, and a lot of people have noted that some shipped fridges arrive DOA due to the damage during shipping, so my suggestion is to reduce time it takes to ship as much as your budget allows. Luckily, this Danby is lightweight, and though the box look a bit beat up, the unit itself is in fine working order so far.

Another problem is the temperature. I haven't measured it directly, but it is true that it may not be cold enough for medical purposes, and anything other than storing refreshments for that matter. I expect dairy (e.g. milk) would be okay, but if opened frequently the unit seems to get warm fairly easily. It does get colder after around 24 hrs after the unit has turned on.

The inside has a strong "factory" odor to it, and it takes some time to get rid of, but not a major problem. There is also a light that comes on when the door opens, which is a plus factor.

For the price range, this makes a great personal beverage cooler which was exactly what I needed, but I suspect that it may not be cold enough for some (as others have noted). If you need a fridge that needs to be colder, look for a unit that has a small freezer section up top; they tend get much colder than this Danby. Good luck!

This fridge didn't even last five months. Take note of the other recent negative reviews and purchase at your own peril.

Honest reviews on Danby DAR0488W Diplomat 1.7-Cu.Ft. Compact All Refrigerator, White

This is NOT a refrigerator in the sense that most people think of. It does not have freon or a compressor it and will not actually cool anything. It is a thermoelectric fridge and will only go 10 degrees below room temp. (Information I learned after arguing with Danby that the product was broken because it never actually got cool.) You are better of putting ice in a cooler. Do not waste your time or money if you are actually looking for a compact fridge that will keep items cool.

These come in black too, wanted a black one but took the white one because I could get it from amazon and thus far I am 100% satisfied with amazon and their customer service is insanely good. Sadly the fridge was returned, it wouldn't get cold enough for our needs, 48degrees and fluxuated between 47 and 48, we needed it as a baby formula preservation system in our nursery, just isnt cold enough for that, or anything else I can think of needing a fridge for.

I have no way of recording how many times this circuit has activated but since installing it there have been numerous power interruptions(10-20 maybe more). Salt accumulating on powerline insulators and such are being blamed for this activity due to the severe drought along the coastal areas of Texas.

I guess I got a jump on the situation by recognizing that my new higher efficient A/C wasn't delaying after these glitches earlier in the season. I think the thermostat is supposed to delay a restart after a dropout but evidently is not fast enough. Also there could be some erratic or undetermined interruptions. The ICM491 kills the relay @ .05+ sec. I think that is faster than two complete cycles. My older A/C had a circuit for this and it lasted 32+ years without losing a compressor. I needed a delay ckt. that was powered by the feeding 240v. I had to do some searching to find this unit and finally found it described ,I think at ICM's site. Found the best price at Amazon and soon had it in my hands.

All I needed to install it in about an hour was four female 1/4in. quick disconnect terminal connectors because the unit had only male 1/4in. spade connectors, 4 different colored 12in. wires, a small twist on connector and a roll of black electrical tape to wrap all twistons to secure them and protect from the enviornment.

To install I waited till A/C finished its cycle and turned the thermostat off-then killed the ckt. breaker in main box and at outside condenser unit. Checked to make sure voltages were off and hooked up the wires marked for 240v of the ICM941 one each to the red and black feed wires from ckt. breaker (polarity didn't matter). Broke one of the twiston connectors from the thermostat, connected one wire from the ICM941 n/c (normally closed) terminal and the other wire from ICM941 n/c(normally closed) terminal to the other wire that was separated by the break. Set the voltage for 120/240 and the delay time to 2min. Turned thermostat on and main ckt. breaker handed my timer stopwatch and energized the local sw/ckt breaker and timer. Got 2mins. 17sec. delay before compressor started. Reasoning for using normally closed contacts on the ICM941 is that is the position provided when the unit is energized. When voltage drops out .05sec. this ckt is opened and will not close to start the compressor again until 2-3mins. appx. (compressor unload time).

This is the 2nd one I have bought the 1st from amazon. I have it installed on my A/C compressor to protect from power surges. It has saved my compressor 2 times that I know of. Previously I had lost 4 compressors to power surges.

We purchased this from Amazon.com for our 6 month old baby's room so we don't have to heat the rest of the house just to get his room warm. I compared this to oil heaters and found this to be better since it is also quiet (no fans) and fairly safe.

I was surprised on how light weight and small it is compared to the pictures on the web. The dimensions are: 26"wide, 20" high (23" high on wheels), 2.25" depth (10" deep when on wheels). It is easy to carry because it only weighs about 5 to 8 pounds (I didn't weigh it).

The heating elements heats up very fast, so that is a definite advantage over oil heaters. It can be mounted on the wall with the included wall mount bracket. Once my baby starts walking I will mount it on the wall to keep it out of reach for him, since the front of the unit does get very hot (although you will not burn yourself if you happen to touch it for a second). So you can hang it up like a picture. The heat only radiates from the front of the unit. The front is smooth in comparison to a oil heater, so your child will suffer less injury than the sharp radiators on oil heaters if he/she runs into it with the head.

It heats a small bedroom quickly, so I think it will also heat a medium sized room with low celings well, but probably not a large living room or kitchen/dining-room.

PROS:

1. Lightweight low profile design can be wall mounted

2. Quick heating

3. Totally quiet

4. High power heating

CONS:

1. Odor: During the first day of use after new it off-gases a lot and generates a strong odor. So make sure to turn it on high heat in the garage or somewhere away for several hours before installing it in a closed room.

2. No digital thermostat: I would prefer a digital thermostat where you can set a temperature. With this one you have to wait until the room is at the right temperature and then set it. This is not exact and takes several tries to get it right.

3. The front of the unit heats up more than I expected, so make sure kids stay away from it.

We've been using this panel heater in our 16' x 20' bedroom for 6 weeks to save big $$ by turning the central heating way down at night. It works very well to heat the room throughout the night and is virtually silent. There are some tiny expansion noises when it is heating up, but it has never made any noise to waken us during the night and we are light sleepers. Just need to turn it on about a half-hour before bed to warm up the room. The room stays pleasantly warm even on the 750W low power setting with the built-in temp control turned less than half-way to max. It heats without moving air around (no fans) so it takes a while to distribute the heat. Folks who want instant blowing heat may not like it but they will have to tolerate fan noise. For us, silence is golden and this heater provides silent heat which is fully adjustable. It is also light weight and moves easily by either carrying (has built-in handle) or rolling on the supplied casters.

One of the most aesthetically pleasing space heaters I've ever seen. it can be sat on rollers or mounted to wall. It can keep my uninsulated 4,000 cubic foot (20' wide x 20' long x 10' high) garage at a tolerable temperature when it's 15 degrees outside.

Tip #1: As with any new space heater, it will emit an unpleasant chemical smell when first used. When it's new, I suggest you set it on high and place it in the garage or outside for 3 to 4 hours before using it inside.

Tip #2: Hot cords/plugs are usually the result of using the wrong gauge of wire in your extension cord or electrical outlets. Use at least a 14-gauge (I'd probably go with a 12-gauge) extension cord and plug it into an outlet that is wired (with 14, preferable 12, gauge wire) to at least a 15-amp circuit breaker. This will be the only thing you'll want running on that circuit breaker. If you don't do that, then don't complain about hot plugs or wires. It's not the heater's fault. It's a basic principle of electricity.

Tip #3: No, it's not going to produce as many BTUs as a propane or kerosene heater will. Electrical heaters are quite capable of producing equal BTUs, without producing carbon monoxide like gas heaters do, but they also have to make it safe to plug into a wall outlet and that means about 1500 watts max. If you have a large room you've been heating with a gas heater and you want to replace it with an electric heater, then you're going to have to get a 240v 30 Amp (or better) heater and probably have an electrician wire it in for you on a dedicated dual-pole circuit. This is a space heater, not a furnace. It's for making warm rooms warmer. Don't disparage this heater because you got the wrong tool for the job. Do your research.

Tip #4: If you want to remove the stickers from the face of the unit and the adhesive is being stubborn, then try heat. If that doesn't work, then go to an auto parts store. They sell several different adhesive removers that are safe for painted surfaces.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi HHP1500 Safeheat Mica-Panel Heater

I use this heater in an unheated screen porch where my dogs sleep. Storm windows keep the wind out, but It was still too cold for the dogs. This heater is great if you're concerned about "dog proofing". It was mounted to the wall and I covered the cord with wooden trim along the baseboard, preventing cord chewing. It heats the 12' by 15' room to a nice 70 degrees, even though the walls are not insulated. Oklahoma has fairly mild winters, rarely getting below 20 degrees, or so. I can't say how the heater would work in this application if you have harsh winters, but for keeping an unheated, small room warm in a mild climate, its great.

My review title says it all, really. I bought this heater because it was a Consumer Reports top pick. And I loved it -effective, quiet, easy to use -until it flamed out five months after I bought it. Quite literally. This was after using it for probably six hours a day (except weekends) during those five months. One day I noticed my cat staring at it; curious, I looked, too, and suddenly a bright orange spot the size of a nickel appeared near where the power cord entered the unit, and there was a burning smell. I quickly turned it off and unplugged it. There was a scorch mark where the flareup had been. After letting it cool, I plugged it back in and tried to turn it on, but it was (and is) permanently dead.

Needless to say I am disappointed with the short lifespan of this product, and am feeling rather lucky that I happened to be close by, and able to unplug it quickly, when it decided to have its fatal meltdown. Who know what damage it might have caused if I'd been out of the room.

I purchased this for use in my office. It was light enough so I could carry it from the parking lot to my office (about 50 yards). I purchased a thermometer to ensure the temperature is cold enough for my yogurt and juice. So far the fridge has performed as advertised. Good compact unit!

I am very happy with it and it was priced just right. I wanted a black refrigerator so I ordered this one inasmuch as Amazon only had theirs in white. I am very pleased and highly recommend it.

I purchased it for my mom who is diabetic and sometimes needed to have easier access to OJ and snacks, therefore, I purchased it for her bedroom so that she or my dad would have to run down to get them. They love it, say it keeps things pretty cold, and it fits right in with their furniture. I had never heard of Midea but read the reviews and for the most part, the customers were pretty happy. I am glad I made the purchase because it fits the needs, looks nice, and great price.

my Aprilaire humidifier controller stopped working cheap pos. I could have bought a $25-30 replacement, or this $80 version that has digital readout and outside temp sensor to adjust indoor humidity to outdoor temp. But the device requires two 120v -> 24v AC transformers one to run the humidifier when the furnace is on (my old controller was powered by one that was installed when the uni twas installed), the other to power the digital readout 24/7 even when the furnace is off. So add $12-15 to the cost for the transformer. Not worth it!

Easy installation (make sure you've got a 12VDC transformer connection or you'll have to add one.) Cabling and mounting the exterior thermister was simple.

I love the fact that I no longer have to manually lower the humidity level when the outside temp plunges. Training was easy...took about a week with two or three minor adjustments. Works flawlessly. No more condensation on the windows...wish I would have invested a long time ago, well worth it.

Works well to boost humidity in the midst of winter to max level without window condensation. Looks attractive. Had professional install.

So it turns out that this is actually not only a fix, but a nice upgrade. The unit always tells me the percentage of the humidity of the air in the cold air plenum with a bold led lighted display, which is very cool. The unit also has the fault lights to advise me of any defects in the humidifier system. Both of these features were nonexistent on the original factory unit. So far, it seems that I have a great upgrade for my Aprilaire 760A humidifier.

I was tired of having to manually adjust my humidistat during the winter. I've dropped the ball one too many times on doing it and now have some permanent water damage on some trim woodwork that I'll have to replace. I installed this over the course of a weekend with no problems and it works perfectly. The instructions are clear. Don't forget if you are also upgrading from a "manual mode" humidistat, to this one, you'll probably need an additional 24v transformer such as this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002T0ZTUU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2).

I had a problem with the first heater of this exact same type and was prepared to send it back. I bought this unit through Factory Buys Direct, but made the mistake of calling on ProCom for help. They were no help. I purchased a second unit from Factory Buys Direct to speed up my installation. In the mean time a representative from FBD, solved my problem. It appears that there are at least 2 flaws in the ProCom manual that comes with the heater and ProCom's tech support lead me in the wrong direction in 2 other points. In the end, the installation is very easy. I suggest that you check the setting for the fuel source found under the info plate (with the cable). Both of my heaters were set for NG and my source is LP. Early on in the manual it states that ProCom ships the heater set for LP. If you have a problem, FBD will help.

The heater works perfectly and puts out enough heat for over 3/4 of our 1700 sq ft. We love it!

I would recommend to all and especially when ordered through Factory Buys Direct.

PS I kept both heaters, at this price I'll have a spare!
