I put this heater in my daughter's bedroom in December 2006. It keeps her room heated throughout at a consistent temperature in the cold months. The unit is never hot to the touch and uses little electricity. Our pets love to lay right next to it on a cold day. I have always been a little nervous about the burn and fire hazards associated with space heaters, but feel perfectly safe with this one. Steady on it's feet, also with all the activity, I would have expected it to get tipped over a few times by now, but it hasn't. I am getting ready to order another for the living room.

My wife and I fell in love with this heater as soon as we took it out of the box and plugged it in. It produced almost immediate radiant heat, very pleasant!. It takes a little while for the convection aspect to kick in. The heater draws in the cooler air at floor level. The warm panel draws the cooler air up between the back of the heater and the wall. The narrow one-inch space between the wall and the back of the heater speeds up the flow of air, producing a sort of Venturi effect, which is what makes the air in the room circulate.

We questioned whether the thermostat and eco mode were working properly. The heater has an automatic eco mode. When the room temperature reaches the desired thermostat setting, the heater reduces it's power consumption from 1500 watts to 1000 watts. However, the eco mode always kicked in before reaching the room temperature that we set on the heater's thermometer. So, I don't know if this was a defect, or if this is the way it's designed, but it defeats its purpose by lowering heat output when the room has not even warmed to the thermostat setting.

If it weren't for these two problems I would have given it a 5.

I have owned this type of heater for three years. After they changed the color and apparently the quality this year I've had two sent to me and after two and one half weeks to three weeks of use the cord gets burning hot. I've had to return them both and now I've got nothing and am at a loss of which model to purchase. The company told me to get another model and I wouldn't have the burning cord problem.

A friend of mine had one of these in their living room and I was interested. My space heater just died on me after only a year so I was willing to spend more than the $40 cheapy from Target, which is what died. I've had it for a month or so and it's the best heater I've ever owned, hands down. The remote, the silent action and the fact that it doesn't dry out the room.. 5 stars.

I have a Sears dryer model, and when I needed to replace this part, I checked the Sears website for the parts I needed. For one third of the price at Sears, I could even afford to make mistakes and still come up ahead by buying at Amazon.

After replacing just one of the two parts, and have it burn up again in about a week, I realized there was an *orange tag* near the part slot, advising to *always* replace both parts at the same time. So I bought the same kit again, and replaced both parts, as advised.

I also read that this part can burn out if the output duct is clogged by too much lint, so I also cleaned up the output duct when installing the second kit. It has been two weeks now and the machine still works well. I am a happy customer.

I needed the thermal cut out when our Whirlpool dryer broke down. The order came in a small package. We were able to get the dryer back in action.

Would recommend, however the heating coil element was the issue. BUT if you can troubleshoot with a meter to determine if these parts have failed before purchasing. Would for the cost of attempting to troubleshoot yourself purchase.

I couldn't get at my coil element and to do so required that the drum be removed to replace. For my area (Norhtern N.J.) the cost of the repair -service call and parts were $ 260.00 (year 2013).

The parts worked like a dream. The key to these replacement parts is to replace the parts on your drier with the parts in the kit even if some appear to be still in working condition.

The price was extremely reasonable and the delivery time was much quicker than I anticipated.

Same symptoms Kenmore dryer blows, no heat. No conductivity through thermal fuse. Exhaust duct blocked (not cleaned for 2 years). I have close to 30 ft. rigid duct with booster so cleaning it is a chore. Of course had to go and clean it... Genuine part is over 30 bucks, not big deal but burns as fast as this one.

This set is worked quite well. First one I bought did not show up at all, had to order another one in two weeks while handling issues with the first. To be quite honest, there was nothing to handle, seller refunded money, then sent another one for trouble. Oh well, will use it in 3 years when the duct is clogged again.

One thing to check is cut off temperature on the smaller piece. Should much with your dryer. Mine had 325F and replacement is the same. If your dryer is higher it will likely blow thermal fuse again quite soon. And keep you ducts clean!

The actual function of this warming tray is perfectly fine. What I did not appreciate is that one of the legs is slightly shorter than the other three, and of course there is no way to adjust the height. It's an easy fix to put something under the leg, but I didnt buy a high end product so I would have to play with it every time I use it.

Very high quality. Sits perfectly level on the counter. Thanks to its rubber legs it is not easily moved if bumped. Does a great job!

Cooking is not allowed on Shabbat, but keeping cooked food warm during Shabbat (and in some cases, warming up cooked food that is cold) is not only permissible, but considered part of the mitzvah of making Shabbat a delight. There are three techniques one can use to keep food warm.

The first option is to use a "blech" (from the German by way of Yiddish word for tin or sheet metal). It is a metal sheet used by many observant Jews to cover stovetop burners (and for some, the knobs/dials too) on Shabbat (the Jewish Sabbath), as part of the precautions taken to avoid violating the halachic prohibition against cooking on the Sabbath. The burners under the 'blech' can be set to low and will stay on throughout the sabbath. Food that is already cooked can be placed on top of the 'blech' and warmed.

Another option is to set the oven to a very low temperature (200 Degrees F)and put casseroles and pots with food in the oven to keep them warm.

The third option is to use an electric warming tray. This warming tray was purchased for the purpose of keeping food warm on Shabbat. The temperature stays low enough that food cannot be cooked, but warm enough to keep food warm, especially nice on a cold, winter night. The tray is well made, and easy to clean. It is also large enough to keep several dishes warmed. Overall, an excellent tray that met our needs perfectly.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart CWT-240 19-by-12-Inch Warming Tray

The Cuisinart Warming Tray was intended to replace a very old and very familiar workhorse. My old warming tray was very functional and was used for every special dinner or party before it finally died after years of use. I was unable to find a store anywhere in my area that had any sort of warming trays. I found this one at Amazon, and I have not been disappointed. It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen. It is just a bit smaller than my old unit, so does not house as many dishes. By the same token, the smaller footprint allows more counter space. It does not have a "hot spot" (for gravies and such)as my old one did (and which I miss), but the tray keeps everything piping hot. It is a lovely, sleek addition to the counter top. I feel certain that I will get many years of excellent service from this device, which joins many Cuisinart appliances in my kitchen.

Thank you

This very clean designed Warming Tray replaced two smaller older Sulton "Hot Trays" that were from my mother's kitchen in the 1970's. Unlike the older trays, the CWT-240 has clearly marked and accessable tempature controls in the front that actually change the tempature from 150F to 200F. Great for keeping pizza hot or bread warm.

At 19 by 12 inches, the tray is fairly imposing and dominates the table where it is located so it would be wise to measure where you will be using it.

Love this unit! Our place is about 800sq-ft, put it in the living room and it cools it and the adjacent kitchen. For our our bed room we simply roll the thing in there, being smaller will cool down much quicker of course. Haven't tried the heater yet but the fan mode alone blows nice and cool. Quiter than expected, and vented properly no condesation build up. If not vented (when brought in bedroom) the holding tank holds a liter and a 1/2 and can be drained in the morning. Love it! Remote such a plus.

Honest reviews on LX-140 WITH 14,000 BTU AC AND 14,200 BTU HEATER

I purchased this item about 3 weeks before installing it. Silly me did not read the return process---must return item for refund with in 15 days of purchase !! Once it was installed, the weather was in the high 90's, it does not come close to cooling the room at all. I called the number in the book and they can only send a replacement out. I have to now find a box that it will fit in (becuase I did not save the box it was shipped in---please save the box !!!), and ship it back at my expense. The people in customer service are not very helpful and very lack a daisy to say the least. Go to your local Lowes or Home Depot to buy an item like this, I'm sure the return would have been so much easier and hassle free.

This is my fourth portable AC. I have a boat that I frequently sleep on therefore, I pull my ACs out when leaving for an overnight visit. (Decided to do this after I had $10,000 of varies items stolen from my house.) I had intended to buy a Royal Sovereign Portable Ac which is the best of the three that I have but they no longer make my unit and I was not impressed with newer models are prices. I'm glad I got this instead. It works great in a large room. I also wanted one that was black/silver but this is a very nice looking model (better than the picture shows). It takes up a little bit more room than my other units but it is worth the use of space considering how good it works. It was easy to put together and the hoses that go through the window have a slick design better than the rounded models. I wasn't sure if I needed a two hose or if one would do as my other units are two but after reading up on it, I decided to go again with the two hoses. I haven't tried the heat yet but had the AC for two months use it almost daily and it works great. Did the job during a heat wave that was in the 90s with "feels like temps over a 100". It is a little loud but not as bad as my other units. Good price also as I spent several hours shopping for this product.

I purchased this window air conditioner at a Southern California Walmart in July, 2003 for $125. After lugging it home, I installed it in my bedroom(15X15)window. It worked well during that summer, but now (June, 2004) it no longer cools sufficiently it has become more like a window fan. I cycled it off and on every month during the past winter (Southern California style)as advised in the included instruction manual. The manual states a one year free maintenance guarantee, but doesn't tell you about the $50/hour diagnostic charge levied by their affiliated independent service organization. I am very disappointed with this Goldstar unit, and would definitely not purchase another. I previously owned a GE 5000 btu model and it was much more durable.

Best Deals on GoldStar R5050 5,000-Btu Air Conditioner

Let me ask all the readers out there an important question. How many times have you taken your air conditioner out of your window come October or November, and when you put it back in May or June, plug it in and turn it on, you discover that it's no longer capable of blowing cold air? This seems to happen ALL the time with Goldstar air conditioners. When it does happen, the AC is done so you're better off getting another one. A hot summer such as the one we Americans are experiencing this year in 2012 can be downright *brutal* and... it happened to me just last week with the kitchen air conditioner. My oh my is it mighty hot in here, especially when it's 4 in the afternoon, cooking on the stove, 100 smoldering degrees outside and no wind blowing whatsoever. Not a pleasant situation to find yourself in...

I give this model 4 stars because it works for up to 5 years at least, but when it STOPS working there will be no warning signs ahead of time. You've been warned.

I would say this product is super sturdy. Each summer, I remove it from storage and jamm it in my bedroom window for extra cooling. /peak shaving and it works and works.. perfectly since 2004. my texas summers are 104 F.

this darn thing is nt showing any signs of aging.. saving me a ton. as I dont use my central AC in the night ( why cool the entire home) when I use the bedroom only for 9 hours

I am somewhat knowledgeable about weather stations and I found that for under $40 the Ambient Weather WS-1170 is a great buy. I found that temperature, humidity, and barometer all had accurate readings. It uses a frequency of 433MHz that doesn't interfere my other wireless stuff.

I made a video review if you want to see it.

AT LAST, an indoor-outdoor weather station that is simple to set up, easy to re-program if you choose, easy to read, and reliable. And it costs much less than the other brands that I tried and discarded. I tried a Lacrosse wireless weather station and ended up throwing it out. It was an engineering nightmare whose set-up was so complicated and counter-intuitive that it was impossible without the instructions. And it needed to be set-up anew everytime you changed the batteries. Heaven help you if you lost the instructions! The Oregon weather station required specialized tools. I have a lot of optical equipment with screwdrivers of all kinds and sizes, but none worked. I sent the Oregon station back. The set-up of the Ambient is simple and intuitive, with almost everything being done for you. All you need is a standard philips screwdriver. Basically, insert the batteries and it does the rest. Re-setting is simple. The Ambient display is also clear and easy to read. Not so the Lacrosse. Others make the same complaint about the Oregon. The Ambient weather station actually works, and that tells you everything you need to know. The fact that it is much cheaper, delivery is timely, Ambient keeps you informed about the packgage's whereabouts, and confirms delivery are all pleasant extras. Good to find a company at last that treats customers as if they actually matter.

Best Deals on Ambient Weather WS-1171 Wireless Advanced Weather Station

Overall, a good buy, and at a good price ($30). I agree with the preceding Reviewers about most things, but not all. I am generally very happy with the WS-1170 Unit, but I did not find it so intuitive to set up, and had a couple of problems following the fairly complete, but tiny-print user Guide. One was that I had to guess at the number to enter to set my Time Zone for the Clock (I think I guessed -9 for the Pacific Time Zone -and I lucked out). The other one related to setting the date it was clear (in retrospect), but just not intuitive to me at the time. I did not fuss with any of the many Alarms settings.

The unit clearly displays everything you want to know about your Inside & Outdoor Weather, tendencies & time. I find that if I prop it up completely vertically (the built-in Stand is set to hold it at an angle), the display info looks darker and is much easier to read (to me anyway).

I had big discrepancies between my In & Outdoor Humidity readings when I kept the Outdoor Sensor and the Display Unit indoors to try to validate the readings. I figured that everything should be the same as long as I kept a 10 foot separation between the Units in the same Room. Not so. Apparently, Humidity is a tough one, and also varies between Indoors and Outdoors.

I also set the Ambient beside my older, and much larger, La Crosse Weather Station to compare results, and they were very close. I agree with the others that the La Crosse Units are a "bear" (term substituted) to deal with for both setup and when the batteries need to be replaced, but (unlike the other Reviewers) otherwise I have been very satisfied with my La Crosse.

I was very impressed with Ambient's excellent, fast delivery of the Unit, and even more impressed with the support from them both via E-mail and by Phone. For starters, it's been a long time since I've been told that I was a "valued Customer", and Reviewer Mele confirms that finding also. Ambient's Ed persevered (promptly and helpfully) with me through several E-mails and a Phone contact even offering to replace the Unit--which I declined.

I told him that Outdoor Humidity was the least of the information I wanted about the Outdoors, and the other 3 Measurements were validated as correct. The Heinz variety of other Settings and Alarms don't really interest me much, so I did not bother with them and cannot report. I also noticed that the Barometer is more responsive to changes than my La Crosse Unit, but have to admit that sometimes I'd like to know the Wind speed. Well, for 30 bucks, why not? But overall, it has more than I need, and I am another buyer who really likes it!

Update: 9/21/10 Highly recommend downloading the Manual available at their Web Site. At the very least it contains the Table for adjusting your Time Zone which is missing from the Manual in the Box. My Wild Guess turned out to be off by 1 Time Zone. Also it gives you a chance to get a larger Print version.

Honest reviews on Ambient Weather WS-1171 Wireless Advanced Weather Station

This is my first experience with Ambient Weather products and I have been extremely satisfied. The indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, and pressure readings have been consistently accurate. Setting up the outdoor sensor was straightforward and went exactly according to the instructions. (sensor placed about 30ft from the unit)

The atomic time took a day or so to sync initially but has been working consistently since then.

A minor issue was the screws for the sensor mount were not the greatest (heads stripped while mounting) and I replaced them with some of my own, but that was my fault for being impatient and not predrilling the mounting holes.

As far as day-to-day performance goes, I have been checking temperature, humidity, and pressure against nearby (a few blocks away) weather underground readings on a daily basis and it tracks extremely well.

Humidity is probably the most variable. As indicated in the instructions, the humidity can be off at the high end (above 85% or so) but I dont consider this to be a big deal since the only time that occurs is when there is actual precipitation. Under conditions of near or actual precipitation, I find it can be off by around 10% in the 70-80% range, but this is measured against weather underground readings which are likely to be subject to local variation during actual precipitation anyway, so I cant really determine the actual inaccuracy of the sensor under those conditions.

The low end seems pretty good. Right now it is getting very cold and dry in the northeast and the difference in personal comfort between 15% and 30% indoor humidity is pretty significant, so having accurate report in that range has been very useful.

Temperature both indoor and outdoor has been spot on. I have another indoor temperature/clock unit (La Crosse Wt-8005U-B) and it is within about 0.2 degrees. When I initially set it up I noticed a discrepancy of about 1.5 degrees F and was a bit concerned, but I realized that I was comparing against the temperature reading from the La Crosse unit across the room. When I brought them together they were consistent and I realized that the difference was real and I actually had a significant temperature gradient in the room due to a nearby outside door. Score one for the WS-1170.

As for pressure, there is a relative pressure adjustment that needs to be made on setup to account for local altitude, but after that it has been very accurate, again as measured against weather underground values (within about 0.1%)

Some people have complained about the pressure tracking graph, but I like it. I have the unit mounted on a highly visible kitchen wall that gets a lot of nearby traffic and the animated graph is not the slightest bit distracting, but I imagine that is a matter of personal tastes.

A pleasant surprise has been the basic weather prediction feature that has been unexpectedly accurate. I wouldnt rely on it over more comprehensive meteorological predictions, but it has been fun to see how well it does based on simple pressure changes. If I had to use it in a pinch, say at a cabin without internet access, I would be about 70% confident that the predictions would be right to within a day or two.

Even the storm alert feature works well (although it is generally telling you something that you could have deduced by just sticking your head out the door)

Overall, I would highly recommend this. Great price, great product. It performs as advertised and has managed to even exceed my expectations.

I'm not exactly a weatherphile, but I like to know where the barometer is headed, and what the humidity levels are outdoors. It seemed like all of the weather stations in this price range only told me indoor humidity, which I could not care less about. This one does exactly what I need it to do, and looks nice on the wall. Numbers are large enough to read easily. I recommend watching the video review another user posted, because I hadn't realized the pressure chart at the bottom constantly reanimated itself. It isn't a problem, but you should be aware of it in case you plan to mount it somewhere that a scrolling graph might be distracting.

I also like that the outdoor sensor has a digital readout of temp and humidity, so if you're just outdoors and curious, you can take a look instead of going inside.

I bought it at jardenstore.com for $16 when it was on saleThe nightmare just began when I received it. I tried to test it overnight with full tank.

And I made sure no excess water in base (common issue for Sunbeam). I also set the humidistat to max.

The next morning the water was still the same level.

While the fan was running loud, louder than refrigerator or microwave or my ceiling fan, there was no mist emitting at all.

Next chapter: call customer service.

1. tried their published number in Instruction Leaflet 888-264-9669, nobody answered

2. called their Jarden company customer service and after lots of options, a human answered and asked me to call number in step 1

3. still nobody answered; and all 800# published online for humidifier are no-answer

4. sent an email through website and so far nobody answered

If you want to throw your money down the drain and feel like an idiot like me, buy Sunbeam, or any of Jarden's product.

Jarden is a shame, a sham, a disgusting criminal. (I'm refraining myself from using worse words publically)

My friend gave this as a baby shower gift. I wanted one of these just to keep the air clean and keep the moisture throughout the room all on pair for our child.

Pros: It is not very loud, on a scale of 0-10, it is about a 3.

Cons: Uses paper filters, tank cannot be cleaned and becomes slimy and the biggest problem, the humidifier is a breeding ground for black mold to grow.

The biggest and most harmful part of this humidifier is the cheap paper filters and the inside compartment. After you remove the tank, your notice two screws, after turning these, your remove the top part that contains the fan and your be left with the bottom half. This part is gray in colour and holds two paper filters and a water compartment chamber. This compartment stays wet. For example, Sunday you fill the tank with water, turn on the humidifier and by Friday, when it is time to refill the tank, the bottom compartment will be filled with black mold. This is a serious health concern for children and adults. You do not want a product that can breed stachybotrys (toxic black mold) in your child's room.

I've had this 3 weeks now, purchased directly from Jarden on sale. For the price (about a couple movie tickets and popcorn) it's a good investment. Note that this is an evaporative type humidifier so it will work a bit better when the ambient temperature is higher eg summer.

Initially I started it up and ran it overnight and there seemed to be no drop in water level ie no humidification. I called Customer Service. A short wait (the ubiquitous phone tree), then my call was answered and a very sympathetic rep suggested several things to try. She added that if I couldn't get it to work properly the unit might be defective and she would be happy to exchange it for a new one. The main remedy was to make sure the wick was properly wetted (she suggested soaking it, then placing it back into the unit). This I did. Not sure it really helped. But then I noticed an air pocket that forms at the bottom of the reservoir. I dislodged the bubble by tilting the unit slightly. From then on the unit has been working exactly as advertised.

Pros:

1) The unit works as advertised;

2) Customer Service is available and tries hard to help;

3) Tank doesn't leak & is easy to fill, filter easily accessible;

4) Inexpensive unit (when on sale).

Cons:

1) As an evaporative unit (ie it wicks water onto a "filter" over which a fan then blows) it is best only for a small room;

2) If you are used to a pretty quiet room then the fans will provide an omnipresent humming that can be annoying. As there are two speeds this can be minimized but not eliminated. Myself, I don't sleep in the same room with this (or any) humidifier.

I use this in a room in which I have several stringed instruments (acoustic guitars and a violin). When I practice, the humming is bothersome and I have to turn the unit off.

Bottom line: Not a bad little unit if on sale.

UPDATE (Jan 2012): Unit still runs fine. BUT, the filters don't last and are expensive to replace a problem that seems to characterize all such "cool mist" evaporative humidifiers. If buying again, I would go the warm mist route instead.

Honest reviews on SCM2412-UM Humidifier

Got product worked wonderfully for 4 days...then we refilled the tank...which we had done numerous times, only to have it no longer send out any mist.we then cleaned out the tank and the base..even used vinegar as recommended. It still wont work its as if the filter quit drawing the water up...We have ordered new filters which cost almost $30 (this includes the shipping and handling charges). We hope the new filters will help.otherwise thats $70 down the drain.I do not reccommend this product. If you can afford to buy new filters every 4 days go right ahead.you should not have this kind of a problem this soon...!!!!

I too bought this on sale at jardenstore.com for $16. From what I can tell, this type of humidifier is the evaporating kind as apposed to vaporization, so you don't actually see mist coming out of it. The water level disappears in the appropriate time frame and the automatic shutoff engages when the proper humidity level is reached, so I guess that means it's working. I have this running on high and a box fan on low and I can barely hear the humidifier.

I'm disappointed to find out from another reviewer that support is lacking. Even general documentation of how this thing is supposed to work is hard to find. Hopefully mine keeps working... so far I'm three nights in. I'll be sure to update should it die sooner than later.

The active cooling rear panel snaps into the rear of the cabinet, and has slots at the top and bottom to run speaker and power cables. It's a little difficult to install, as it's a very tight fit. Once installed, it does a great job of keeping the electronics cool with the auto-sensing thermostat that sits atop your electronic equipment. The two fans are quiet enough that I don't notice them running unless I am right next to the cabinet.

Overall, I think this cooling panel is a good idea if you want to enclose your home theater receiver and other electronics in a cabinet without the risk of overheating. I think it should be about half the price, but the fact that it's custom fit for the cabinet makes it a good complement for the Chameleon series cabinets.

These cooling fans are anemic. Barely able to detect any air movement. They do not do the job. Stay away.

Friedrich SS08M10 -7900 BTU window air conditioner

This is my second Kuhl. I purchased the original one from M&M Appliances in Washington, DC, but took it back because it was damaged compressor ripped from the mounts and refrigerant lines bent and the backup battery was dead on arrival. Second unit seems to be in much better condition. It was not damaged and the backup battery is not dead. Friedrich also mailed me a new backup battery (see their website for the form to fill out for a free battery).

Installation was a bit time consuming and required more tools than you'd expect for a window a/c install. The hardware that comes with the unit is excellent. It is sturdy and well built. Installation is definitely intended to be semi-permanent. I will not be removing this unit every winter like I have with previous window units.

Unit cools very well and is very quiet when compared to bargain brands at many stores. Discharge air temperature with R410a seems to be lower than most previous air conditioners that use R22. Depending on temperature and humidity in the room, the unit will sometimes blow visible fog from the vents.

This air conditioner is very well built. Sound dampening could have been increased the unit makes a bit more noise than I'd like for the premium price tag. Friedrich should consider insulating the compressor in order to keep noise down. Compressor makes an oscillating sound at a frequency of about 2 3 hertz. Fan noise is minimal, which I attribute to the large vent design. The most irritating sound is the water splashing on the condenser fan. This problem could be solved by more sound insulation or by a condensate drain (although I understand that the condensate splashing on the condenser increases efficiency). Still -VERY QUIET when compared to most alternatives.

All features work well except for the auto fan mode (energy saver), which cycles the fan too frequently to "test the air temperature." I leave it set for continuous mode, which I prefer anyway. I do have a gripe about the remote control it doesn't sync with the unit's control panel, so if you make a change on the unit and then go to the remote, the remote still has its previous settings. Would be nice if the remote was RF instead of IR so that it didn't have to be pointed at the unit and it could auto-sync whenever settings are changed at the unit.

If you buy one of these, definitely read the instructions. Some parts of the install are not intuitive, and there are many features that you'll want to familiarize yourself with.

Some people have complained that the unit does not display the accurate temperature. This can be adjusted under the *temperature offset (TO)* section of the menu, along with a number of other settings.

I hope to get many years of trouble free use out of this unit.

PROS:

Sleek design with optional front cover colors

I just have no idea why this A/C costs $800. Rich (read pretentious) look apart I haven't found a single advantage over an A/C with the comparable output you can pick up in a home improvement store for $150.

I was looking for a single most important for me function a quiet operation and I was willing to pay 6-X price for it. Good thing I decided to test it before putting in into the window. When running "fan only", it makes reasonable noise, not much quieter than a "regular" cheap A/C. The disappointing part there is only 3 fan speeds, no variable speed and/or super-quiet mode.

But when I switched it in cooling mode and the compressor kicked in, I literally jumped first the loud click and then the droning noise, so loud I thought I dropped a screw driver into the fan. After a few second the sound went down a little but it still was way over the acceptable level, and definitely louder than a cheap A/C makes. I thought the unit was defective, the dealer sent a technician, who told me that's the normal operational sound. Now I just hope the dealer won't give me a hard time when I return the A/C.

So for the price of 6 regular A/Cs you will have:

bulky heavy unit, requiring quite laborious installation process

lack of important features like variable fan speed and super quiet night mode

bunch of bells and whistles you most likely won't care about, like 7 days programming and external thermostat connector

a lot of noise

very nice looking front panel and ipod-styled remote.

You decide, but I'm returning mine.

The compressor makes a loud throbbing noise which makes it too noisy for a bedroom. The unit is also heavy & bulky, which made installation difficult. Other than that it cools well, but so do a lot of less expensive, smaller, equally noisy a/c's.

Very nice product, works well and is very flexible in options. However, the setup instructions could be considerably more clear.
