Cheap 15 Sqft Mat, Electric Radiant Floor Heat Heating System with Aube

15 Sqft Mat, Electric Radiant Floor Heat Heating System with Aube Digital Floor Sensing Thermostat

I purchased two of these warming mats about a year ago and installed them in January of 2012. It is recommended that a curing period of 1 month be observed for the thin set to dry completely so I did not get to use them much last year as we had a warm spring. As mentioned I bought two mats and did two bathrooms. I felt like I was taking a bit of a risk with no reviews on this product and limited information but they were cheaper than I could find the mat and thermostat anywhere else. The math may have changed by now but these were a bargain and I see the price remains the same now (nov-2012) as when I purchased them. I did do a lot of research before going this route and came to the conclusion that the real value in these kits is in the controller and in this case this is an absolutely great controller/thermostat. It is easy enough to set up and offers all the programmable options I wanted. Aube is a high quality brand even if they are not as well known in the mainstream as some others. I went with the mats because they worked well for my bathrooms but depending on design I would not hesitate to use the cable. The mat was well made and relatively easy to install. This was my 5-6 tile job and it does add a little difficulty to the job but nothing an experienced DIY'er can't handle. The biggest concern is getting the tile with the mat under it to sit at the same height as the tile without mat under it. I used thin set to set mine on top of backer board and just was conscious to use more thin set (different trowel) on the tiles without mat under it and it turned out fine. The other option is to use self leveling compound but that would have added more height to the floor and I wanted perfect transitions to the surrounding floors. I am capable of doing the electrical and did so but if you are not familiar with household wiring, GFCI's etc I would recommend this part be farmed out to someone who can. Just follow the directions locate the temperature sensor correctly and be careful of the wire as you work and you should be fine.

This year I have been using them more and more as we get into the winter months and boy do I love these. They start giving noticeable heat to your feet in 15-30 minutes but should be left on for about an hour to get the full effect. I do not try to use them to warm the room so can't comment on that. With the controller it makes it easy to have the floor all warmed up for a morning shower without having to do a thing.

To summarize:

Great product, relatively simple install, awesome controller, mat works well to aid install, and the end result is simply fantastic. My bathrooms were always a little cool and getting out of the shower onto a warm floor while I shave or whatever is just great. There are a lot of options when it comes to a floor warming system but for my money I think Warming systems Inc had the best value I could find and a great product.

I will be doing 4-5 more bathrooms this winter for family/friends and will be using this product again where a warm floor is wanted.

Summary: I purchased this for a bathroom remodel, installation went smoothly, and I'm very happy with the result. My wife's cold toes are even happier with it!

More detail: This is the first time I've installed a heat mat of any sort, and in fact the first time I've tiled a whole room on my own. Despite my beginner status, the whole process went smoothly. I did all the wiring first (power to the heat mat, thermostat control to sensor), then installed cement backer board. I put this heat mat directly on the backer board, using plenty of staples on the mesh part (not over wires) to hold it in place. (If you have an air compressor, I highly recommend a Surebonder 9600A, Heavy Duty Staple Gun with Case any time you do a lot of stapling. Much faster and less tiring.) You have to know the exact size and location of all your bathroom fixtures at this point, so the mat doesn't extend underneath anything permanent. Don't forget to place the thermostat sensor on the floor between wires at this stage also. I cut a little gouge in the backer board, so the end of the thermostat sensor wouldn't stick up so far. After I got all the tiles cut, I put thinset over the top of the mat. This is a little tricky, because you want a thin layer of thinset on top of the mat itself, being careful not to gouge the heat wires with your trowel, and then you want a thicker layer outside the heat mat, so the tile ends up level. Just be aware of it, and make sure you have plenty of thinset on hand. I didn't have any problems using a metal trowel over the heat mat; just be gentle and don't scrape through the wire. It's also tricky to apply thinset & place tiles after the heat mat is in place, because you need to be very gentle walking/kneeling on the heat mat. Then finish tiling as you normally would.

I have not used this through a whole winter yet, but we've had several chilly fall days and it has worked wonderfully. As with most complex timer thermostats, he thermostat programming is not especially intuitive, so keep the instruction manual handy. But the instructions are clear, and once you get it set up it works well with the various automatic / timer modes.

Overall, I have no complaints about this product, and it was the best deal I could find if you also intend to buy an auto/timer thermostat.

I've read the other reviews on this unit, and I still picked one up. This isn't a book/batteries/small retail, and when buying it from Amazon, you should really be present at delivery to insure no damage befell your unit in shipping. I was home when this came, and I looked over the box before I let the UPS driver go. It came double boxed with quite a bit of foam and cardboard protecting the fridge, then more cardboard protecting the tower/bottle/regulator/etc inside. After attaching the casters and fully assembling the unit, I waited the recommended 8 hours (really, I waited overnight) before plugging it in. I let it run for another night to be sure it was cooling properly, and then. after I decided everything was fine, I filled the CO2 bottle and purchased my keg. Don't omit this series of steps. If you want a working kegorator, pay attention to the instructions that come with it. It's pretty simple.

***UPDATE***

More than a year later, this kegorator is still going strong. I did have to replace the gas bottle it came with on the 2nd fill, which was pretty disappointing, but with that exception it's still working perfectly.

I was hesitant about purchasing this kegerator because of some of the reviews but decided to buy it anyway. The unit came in scratch and dent free which I was very pleased about. I spent the extra bucks and got the stainless model which looks nice in the man cave. I was a little surprised how small the unit was when I was unpacking it. In the pictures they all look the same but this is not a full size kegerator it is basically a mini-fridge with an over sized door to accomodate a full size keg. This was not an issue for me because I am limited on space and the overall cosmetic appearance of the unit is very nice. I installed the casters to give it more height. The kegerator assembled easily and came with alot of spare gaskets, parts and wrenches which I thought was cool. Do pay attention to the gasket that belongs beneath the tower like the other reviews say because it is not mentioned in the instructions. It comes with a 2.5 pound Co2 tank which is adequate but I will probaly upgrade to a 5 pound. It also came with a nice dual gauge Co2 regulator unlike some reviews said. Some of the reviews said the unit would not get cold enough. Mine seems to stay around 34-36 degrees on the max setting. That seems perfect to me! Some of the reviews talk about the noise. I can say it is a little noisy but just a little more than a regular refrigerator. You get what you pay for in life and this unit has some cheaply made parts here and there but at the end of the day what do you expect from a kegerator? Cold draft beer when you want it and this unit will deliver! Why pay hundreds more? I am very pleased so far. I've only had it for three days and am half way through my first keg of blue moon but no issues so far. I will update if any issues arrive!

great for the money. ok quality.

they have videos on youtube of this and similar units which helped a lot with assembly and others for setting up co2.

Only negetive it is a bit loud for its size, sounds like any other fridge. Like any keg it takes a bit of adjusting with the co2 (which gauges work very well)

***** If the temp does not get cold enough, pop the thermostat off with two screws on the back and adjust the little screw on top clockwise. This adjusts the temp lower. I turned it maybe one full turn which got my beer in the glass at 38 degrees which is perfect for me.******

Honest reviews on Nostalgia Electrics KRS-2150 Kegorator Beer Keg Fridge, Stainless

I bought this product hoping all the negative reviews were wrong...but they werent. The kegerator came dented right out of the box, and no matter what i did, the temperature would not get below 45 degrees! Looks like it could be a nice fridge if they could fix the cooling problem...but buyer beware...this fridge will not deliver cold enough beer! Im now stuck with half a keg of beer thats ruined. The only bright spot is the amazon customer service. They agreed to ship the fridge back no problem and credit my account quickly. Thanks amazon.

I purchased this based on reviews and a few referrals from friends. It's inexpensive, but it's really poorly built.

You can purchase this item and it will fit a full-size ked (barely), but setting it up is pretty tricky if you have never worked with kegs before, and the parts/instructions are not documented well.

DO NOT PUT THE CASTERS ON THE BOTTOM! If you place the casters (wheels) ont he bottom of this unit and then place a full-size keg inside it, The front wheels will buckle. The metal used on the underside of the fridge unit is too thin to support the weight of a full keg. Both my front wheels immediately bent under and buckled toe moment I placed the keg inside the unit.

It does keep stuff cold. Asa a small fridge, this is an OK unit. As a kegerator, it is extremely lacking in quality and workmanship. You get what you pay for.

Bi-Metal Egg Incubator Thermostat Kit - Mechanical Reviews

Bi-Metal Egg Incubator Thermostat Kit - Mechanical

Bought this for a homemade styrofoam cooler egg incubator, in which the temps prior to installation swung from 85-112 using only a lightbulb and no fan. (Still miraculously got a couple chicks to hatch!) Installed this baby (plus a CPU fan) after reading mixed reviews on it's comparison to a wafer thermo and am thrilled! My eggs are now comfortably incubating with no more than a 2 degree swing! Hooray! Hopefully it stays this way with time..we shall see..

I made my own incubator using a water heater thermostat. The temperature range was too varied. I had some chicks hatch but most didn't. If I were to venture a guess it was probably about 25%. Some chicks got stuck to the egg membrane and despite my best efforts died. These were usually my Jersey Giants. With the new thermostat I probably get about a 75% hatch rate now and I've had far more Jersey Giants hatch than I did previously.

Included clear instructions. delivered quickly. They packed a tiny screwdriver to adjust the control knob. Very thoughtful setup allowed me to finish my project.

Honest reviews on Bi-Metal Egg Incubator Thermostat Kit - Mechanical

Can't set exact temperature. Have to do trial and error to set it. When set temperature does not remain constant. It varies by almost 3 degrees F. Not acceptable for an incubator.

I've personally owned one of these and I have worked in a quilt shop that sold them. They have a one year warranty. I (maybe) used mine 6 times within that year and it died. For no apparent reason it would not heat up. When it worked it was great but that was such a short time that I felt totally ripped off. The quilt shop I worked at stopped carrying them because customers came in wanting to return them and the warranty was through the company which had ridiculous requirements for warranty. A very cheaply made product. The company should be ashamed! Don't buy one unless you have money to throw away. I give it no stars!

This is not a toy this is the real thing. Kids should not use this iron as it gets very hot. It is perfect to keep beside the sewing maching and press out the seams you sew as you go. It is so handy and convenient. I carry it to all my sewing classes and a lot of my friends use it. I don't mind sharing but I'll be glad when they all get one of their own. It is truly awesome!!!!!

Works excellent with the firm wrap for controlling wine temperature in the basement. Use plumers pudy around the probe on the outside of the carboy and wrap the carboy in hot water tank bubble wrap. Painters tape holds on the firm wrap and the pudy.

Other than being a bit pricey, this is an amazing temp control. I am sure it can be used for other things as well, but for homebrewing its a must. One of the first early upgrades a new homebrewer should make is crafting a temp controlled fermentation chamber (read: old fridge with one of these) Also, very needed when building a kegerator or Keezer. Easy, plug and play!

I own a white rodgers model number 1f80-261, which appears to be the standard "programable" thermostat sold with most furnaces today. The do not have a listing for mine on amazon yet. This one similar to mine, has time and temp/temp setting on display, with all the keys concealed down below. I have had mine for 2 summers and one winter, and this thermostat saves me a bundle. It has about 4 settings a day for each of the programs, plus weekday and saturday/sunday separate days available for adjustment. My typical summer day started at 76 degrees at 6:30, then up to 82 at 8am when at work, at 4:30 I'd set it back to 76 degrees, and at 10pm 72 degrees to sleep cooler. On the weekends, I'd keep it a little more consistent, since I was here more often. If this had a plug in for a coffee machine, I'd have it set to make my coffee when I got up in the mornning.

Again I have had this for about 2 years now, and I liked it so much, I had my mother get one installed in her house because it's so easy to use. Also, one of my offices is solely equipped with these thermostats, so I get plenty of experience with them. Worth the investment

A new oven controller for less than $25! Needed for a polymer clay kiln I built. Works great-you supply the knob and calibrate it with an oven thermometer. My local appliance repair shop wanted $50 for the same unitbuying local is nice but not that nice.

Exactly what I needed. Shipped fast. One third the cost to buy it at a local parts store. My 22 year old son-in law had it installed in less than an hour. I could have installed it myself as could anyone without fear. Paid less than $30 dollars for a repair quoted at over $300. No complaints here.

I ordered (from Seneca River Trading) a genuine General Electric WB20K10023 Electric Thermostat and received the ERP (generic) brand replacement part. The generic part is available at almost any appliance parts store for a lower price. This would have been a decent deal for a genuine part.

I am very upset for the bait and switch treatment I encountered and do not like this product since I did not receive the actual product listed. Therefore, I would not recommend ordering this (or any) part from Seneca River Trading since they list and picture genuine manufacturers parts and ship generic replacements.

Perfect replacement. Replaced a $90 OEM from a different model oven, with this one. It operates perfectly. The OEM had developed about a 25 100 degree differential. This replacement is accurate, and now the oven cooks perfect cakes, pies, cookies, etc.

I love saving $70! Not to mention the cost of a service call too, who usually get it wrong the first time.

We ordered this a few weeks ago, so far we have tried potatoes fries, pizza, roasted chicken and we roasted some almonds as well. Everything came out excellent. This oven is indeed a multifunction appliance. It first is a convection oven similar to a Rotisserie oven, but with a turntable rack. So you are not limited to roasted chicken and ribs but can put smaller pieces on the turntable. The second function is to replace the turntable with a food tumbler or paddle, it then turns into an automatic stir fryer. We made some fries from fresh potato. Needless to say the fries are much less greasy with only one spoon of oil, but we are thrilled to see this actually works. It means this cooker can take the tedious labor work out of cooking.

With everything we have cooked in this turbofry oven so far well done, we are very pleased with this product.

Roasted chicken is second to none. The first chicken we cooked is perfect, golden crispy skin bottom and up, and juicy inside. Cut and squeeze the chicken breast with a knife yourself, you will see what I mean juicy. The second time we surround the chicken with lots of veggies carrots potatoes, seemed like the excessive veggies blocked the air flow to the bottom thus the underneath of the chicken was not crispy.

Potato fries, We have not used similar products so there is no way to compare the results. But the paddle does mix the oil and fries well in a gentle way. The tumbler aid on the inner side of the glass bowl helps the mixing better. The tumbler aid could make some noise when we roast almonds, we then removed the tumbler aid and it just worked as good.

Pizza, this oven is a perfect appliance to make pizza. Pizza finished with a crispy crust and the excessive moisture on the pizza top were carried away by strong hot air circulation. And we have never preheat the oven which is a plus. Using extender ring gives better results. Con: only bakes pizza up to 9" .

Extender ring is very useful. Good thing is it comes free with the purchase.

And again, it is one of the best kitchen appliances we ever invested. We have extensively used it for a few weeks, at least one use per day, multiple uses during weekends, so far there is not the slightest regret.

Bought this a few weeks ago, so far everything we cooked in this oven turned out to be AMAZING!! Chicken is always cooked to perfection, the skin is crispy and inside is juicy, I am thinking of taking a picture to show you guys. There is a lot of oil drip to the bottom. You do not have to flip it half way during the cooking, the bottom of the chicken is browned as well. We have tried pizza, freshly cut potato fries, they all turned out delicious. Really in love this oven.

Since we had the other oven from Secura the 997 and liked it we thought we would try this one--since it was the "latest, greatest" from the company. A big mistake! This one comes with more gadgets and about the only advantage to this over the all digital 997 is that it has a turntable to rotate food. Supposedly it can fry foods as well.

But that is it...everything else is worse about this than the all digital model that is $30 less. First of all it uses more electricity 1550W vs. 1350 for the halogen cooking oven. It also takes longer to cook than the old oven. Some "genius" in the engineering dept. at Secura decided to make 482 degrees the maximum temp for the oven--I think he is now working on making 61MPH speed limits on some highway or clocks that go up to 11:37PM. Nonetheless, the old unit tops out at a very normal 500 degrees. Additionally, this unit never gets up to the 482 degrees promised. When I used my cooking thermometer it topped out at 350 degrees even though it was supposed to get to 482 degrees--mind you that was after it cooked for 30 mins.

Aside from that this sucker is super noisy, much louder than the old unit. It also has a plug that is half the length of the old plug and when you put the lid up it actually locks now and you've to physically unlock to move it again. On the old unit you would simply put the lid up, it would stay in place and you would then put it down. Also, on the old unit it was a nice digital timer and temperature selector...on the new unit it is a cheesy manual timer that dings like a $5 kitchen timer.

Don't even think of calling Secura if you've a problem! They're too cheap to have a customer service line so you've to email them for support and if you're lucky enough--about three days later--they will respond to you. Even the NuWave oven has a phone line.

In short, this is really disappointing--usually companies improve products not worsen them. If you want a speedy oven the digital 997 will be just fine and come in at $30 less than this overpriced piece of junk!

Honest reviews on Secura Infrared Convection Countertop TurboFry Oven 997MC

One of my friends has been bragging about turbo oven. I was tempted to give it a try and encountered this newer model. I have not used a turbo oven before, only saw how it worked a few times. I can't give thorough comparison, but one thing I can confirm is that the roasted whole chicken is way better than the old turbo oven. Chicken skin is golden brown in a way I have never seen before. No kidding!!@!! The heating of this oven is so evenly that when the chicken is done it does not look like roasted in an oven. I had a feeling that someone just sprayed color on it so uniformly. That is amazing.

The turbo fan is way powerful than before. Actually if you apply powdered seasoning, it has a high chance to blow it away. I have to either add powered ssasoning after cooking or mix it with oil and then apply on food.

So man functions, so many things you can cook in the oven. I have been roasting almond, coffee beans, things I have never done at home. Roasted almond was done in 10 or 15 minutes, I cannot remember. And it turned out to be perfect because the almonds do not touch any hot surface, so no side is burn, they are surrounded by hot air can the paddle keeps stirring. When it is done, you have to wait for the almonds to cool to become crispy. Hot almonds are not crispy.

Can't cook soup, the glass bowl has a hole at the bottom. But the hole makes it easier to carry and wash at the sink. Cook book comes with the machine looks nice, but I usually do not follow the recipes. Overall very pleased with this gadget.

Where to start?

The unit has a silicone ring around the glass cover to make a seal with the glass bowl. It peeled off both times we tried cooking with the unit, ending up with half of the o-ring bunching up next to the heating element. It's not fun trying to replace the o-ring with oven mitts so you can continue cooking.

The timer is horrible. It's literally a timer you would find in a .99 cents store, complete with the cheap "Ding" when done. The unit won't engage unless you turn it past 6 minutes. There is no way to reset the timer. If you wish to stop cooking early by lifting up the cover, the timer will simply continue to run down.

The two items we did cook came out uneven, and took much longer to cook then estimated. How a food can come out cooked unevenly in a convection oven has me stumped. Yet both items cooked had parts that were cold and parts that were warm.

The documentation was very lacking. It came with a small "how to" guide, with a cooking chart that was way off in it's estimates.

This unit was going to replace our Nu-wave oven. We wanted to try something with a glass bowl, since we are working on our 3rd enclosure (they keep cracking). Unfortunately this won't be the replacement. Cooking times were much longer than estimated (twice as long). It seems the unit doesn't get the temperature high enough.
