I have owned my Chilipad for 4 years, and can honestly say I cannot sleep without it. Night sweats and hot flashes are nearly impossible, but with this I sleep like a teenager. There are a few things I would change if I were the designer, however. The pad itself consists of a cotton pad in which there are silicone tubes thru which the water circulates (you really can't feel them when you are lying on it, however). This pad slips into a zippered cover that is just like a regular pocketed mattress pad. However, there is no way to adhere the inner pad to the outer pad. Now this may not be a problem for most people, but I have to sleep with the head of the bed elevated, and I have to unzip the outer pad and reposition/smooth out the inner pad about every 3-4 days. They do not recommend using sharp things on the pad, so no pins, no sewing on velcro, etc.

The fan can be noisy, so if you need absolute quiet to sleep, this may not be the solution for you. But I found that soft music drowns it out completely.

You will need to top off the water about once a week or so, but it's really easy to do. You just need to have it somewhere accessible.

I also recommend setting it on a hard surface it seems to work better I use a cookie sheet under my bed just in case it develops a leak or I get sloppy when topping it off.

Customer service at Chili Technology is top notch they will bend over backwards and stand on their heads to make sure you are satisfied. My unit developed a leak, I called them, and had a new unit within 3 days, and they paid for the return shipping on the leaky unit as well.

There is a rumor that they are developing one for chairs, and I can't wait. Wish there was one for a desk chair too.

Although I am single, imagine being able to have your side of the bed cool and your partner's side warm no more arguments about room temperature, and you will save a lot on heating and AC.

This product can cool or heat your bed. For heating, this device works well, so I will not talk about that feature any further. For cooling, this device may not work as well as you would like it to. Let me explain:

In the summertime, if your bedroom is uncomfortably hot, this device will probably help cool your bedding, but not to such a degree where you can turn off your air conditioning.

Let's say it's 30c and you'd like it to be 20c under the covers. This modestly powered device won't be able to close such a gap in temperature, as it's working against the ambient temperature of your room as well as your own body heat. It may be able to lower the temperature of the water 7c, but it could take several *hours* before a noticeable cooling effect can be felt. Remember, it not only has to cool the water flowing thru the tubes, but also the surrounding bedding, and eventually your body.

In short, this device will not replace your air conditioning if your room is too hot.

But even if the device could dramatically cool your bedding, this wouldn't be practical. Such a difference in temperature would create a large amount of condensation. In fact, condensation is already a problem when lowering the temperature by ~7c. On the hottest nights, I'll have damp bedding in the morning.

My conclusion, after using this product for an entire summer, is that the Chilipad works best in a room that is slightly too hot, but not extremely hot. You may have to use the AC to reach this ideal temperature, which may lead you to feel that this device is pointless. It probably is pointless for some people in some environments, but clearly, some find it greatly beneficial to their quality of sleep.

Another problem to consider is the noise of the device when operating at its maximum power. It produces white noise that is a bit louder than a room fan, as well as some gurgling water noises. If you are sensitive to noise, you'll definitely want to wear earplugs, but even then, you'll still hear it.

I use the Chilipad during the winter months to keep my bed toasty warm. In the autumn and spring the device works well to keep my bed at a reasonable temperature. But during the hot summer months when just about everyone sleeps with the AC on, this device simply cannot beat the heat on its own.

UPDATE Sept 2013:

Unfortunately, I constantly found myself going to bed too hot, and waking up too cold. I could never find a comfortable temperature setting with the Chilipad and the whole ordeal became detrimental to my sleep. As such, I didn't use it for the entire summer for 2013.

I've grown to realize that the product is made for a room that already has a comfortable ambient temperature. The unit simply regulates the temperature of the bottom bedding, preventing things like sweating into the mattress at night. But as I said before, if your room is too hot to begin with, the Chilipad isn't going to help much.

I still plan to use the Chilipad all winter long like last year. It's really quite suited for that.

AFter researching all the warming plates, I chose the Broil King NWT-1B. We received this today and although the unit heats correctly, I find the fit and finish to be low quality. The black plastic side handles are cheap looking and the sides were scuffed up making the item look worn. This model is all black yet the screws in the front are bright stainless. Overall my impression is that this is not well thought out and it just like a cheap appliance. I expected better from a company whose customer base is mostly commercial.

The 16" size of this Presto skillet actually ended up saving room in my kitchen because it replaced both an electric griddle and an old 12" electric skillet. This pan can be used for all kinds of cooking: griddling, frying, grilling, braising, roasting, even baking. The sides are high enough to use it as a chicken fryer or for stirfry. I can check how bacon is frying through the glass lid, minimizing spatter, if any. The temperature control is accurate and the pan heats up quickly, unlike my electric stovetop. In fact, you can get a perfect simmer by turning the knob down just till the light goes out. Also nothing sticks to it. The only two things you have to remember are: 1)spray it with Pam or some other cooking spray the first time you use it (just the first time), and 2)to maintain the nonstick coating, never soak it in water for extended periods (you won't need to soak it, it cleans up fast and easy). I really like this skillet and recommend it highly. I bought it in February and have used it regularly ever since.

NOTE: It is now May 2008 and I still use this electric skillet at least once or twice a week. It has held up beautifully and still looks new. I have to tighten the leg screws now and then but I'm not complaining. I would give this pan six stars if I could.

NOTE: It is now October 2008 and we still use this skillet a couple of times per week at least. It takes about 3 minutes to clean after it cools. I can cook just about anything in it. I like its temperature accuracy and the quick control I have over the heat. I use it all the time.

I have owned at least three electric skillets so far, and while they all had their nice little features (one had a thingie to hold the lid, another had a low-profile for storage, etc.), NONE of them were as high quality as the Presto 16" skillet. The non-stick coating is far superior to Teflon. So far I have only used a flexible, gentle nylon spatula on it, (OXO Good Grips 65191 Nylon Flexible Turner), but the way that the food behaves when on the cooking surface is wonderful. Even eggs don't stick!

This skillet cooks the most evenly of any I've ever used. The center is a little bit cooler than the edges, due to the placement of the heating element. However, the majority of the skillet heats evenly, and makes the BEST hashbrowns (and stir fry, and fried rice) ever. Things don't burn as easily in this skillet, and yet the response to heat adjustments is very quick. I love knowing that the glass lid isn't releasing dioxins into the condensation which collects on it to be dripped back down into the food.

My only beefs with this model are: a lack of rubber feet to prevent sliding (although it doesn't slide around much when full of food), and the glass lid doesn't have a vent. (So far, though, I've done mostly lid-less cooking, so it's a moot point.)

In short: an Excellent Quality skillet in a size that will feed my growing family (six with one on the way), with room left over. I have a feeling we might be ordering a second model so we can cook breakfast all in one fell swoop (one for hashbrowns or pancakes, and one for eggs & bacon). Even if you don't think you need something this big for just one or two people, it's wonderful to be able to cook or fry things with plenty of room to spare. Not a lot of frills, but does the job better than any I've seen.

If you're wondering which skillet to buy, wonder no more. This is the one.

I was very satisfied with this product until yesterday when it was being used to heat chicken on the Warm setting. Without warning the cover exploded, spraying glass from the center of the cover everywhere. If I had been standing near it at the time I could have been seriously injured. I checked on the Internet and discovered that other people have experienced the same problem with other glass covered electric cookware. We use an electric skillet about 3x's a week. So, this Presto skillet was used on a regular basis. The concept is great...to be able to use the skillet to serve in...is a nice plus. It's attractive enough to put on the table for family dinners. But, the coating began to flake off after about 3 months. The skillet heats quickly and the thermostat was precise. I just wish these manufacturers could get this non-stick coating to STAY ON the skillet. Non-stick is a great plus in a electric frypan...but, I'm looking for Calphalon to introduce an electric skillet. This was my last purchase...i've gone through about 6 different skillets. I'm done with these for now...!!!

I ordered this faux fireplace heater for my son's room. The reviews were solid, and the heating system was fire safe.

However, they fail to mention that the "oak finish" is cheap veneer, not oak.

And NO ONE mentioned anywhere in the advertisement here that the unit arrives UNASSEMBLED!!!!

I am concerned because the unit I bought two years ago from AMAZON was solid oak (not a cheap finish), and it came fully assembled.

I cannot yet comment on the heater itself, but I did want to warn prospective buyers that the quality of "oak finish" has been downgraded without clarification or any change in the language.

I will add an update in a few days after we have had a chance to use it.

I have now had a chance to assemble the device, and to use it in my son's room for more than a week of cool weather.

First, the assembly is not easy. There are 80 pieces in the box, mainly screws (55 main screws, + 3 smaller ones), so be prepared to dedicate at least an hour to the work.

I was not impressed with the durability of the heater once constructed. It is heavy, and it is not designed for major relocations once it is constructed.

On the other hand, and despite the faux oak finish, it really is a beautiful addition to my son's room. He LOVES it--and uses the false flame as a night light to hypnotize him to sleep. It is quite nice to sit in a darkened room and stair at the "fire." The heater and thermostat also work well. My ten-year-old was able to operate the controls out of the box. Another plus.

As a result, I have raised the review from 2 stars to 4 stars. I still take off some credit for the faux finish, the lack of warning about assembly required. But the product does overall deliver the quality you hope and expect.

I bought this Rowenta iron a while back from Bed, Bath and Beyond and have to say I am very disappointed in it. Friends had encouraged me to get a Rowenta saying I would never buy any other brand. In hindsight, I should have taken it back; however, life gets in the way and I have continued to use it.... satisfied or not.

Because I am so disappointed in this iron, I am going to start with the CONS.... then maybe I can find a PRO or two to add....

CONS:

Again, I am flabbergasted how something so heavy duty can be so ineffective. Without spray starch or steam, this iron will NOT remove a simple wrinkle.

Heavy and bulky, it is difficult to maneuver this iron...

It takes forever to produce steam. I often run out of patience waiting on it, only to have the water spill out on my garment.

Pretty pricy, too!

It is heavy duty and holds up well to the constant use.

All in all, I do not recommend this iron. My mother's small inexpensive iron works much better and produces steam within 2 minutes. Maybe I will give this iron to my daughter and buy myself one of those...

One of the most important criteria for Rowentas, anymore, is if they are original Germany products. Rowenta has some irons made in Mexico with the plant's relocation to Mexico.

This iron is solid, heavy, and has a good burst. There is a self-clean option and what is important is the Vertical Steam feature also. The plate is smooth along the clothes and stays clean.

This reconditioned iron is the same model that I also use for my laundry which has performed well for the past 6 years without issue. I am very disappointed in the reconditioned iron. It has not performed well at all. My intention was to save money but it now appears I will have to buy a replacement iron for my quilting. Lesson learned, no reconditioned appliances again. I have the Nutone 9114NT, which is exactly the same unit. I can almost feel heat when I am dry, but due to wind chill, after I towel off and stand in front of it, it feels cold! I record 112.5V and 10.62 amps, so I'm actually getting 1200W. At the grill, I have 300F, but the air very quickly mixes with ambient air and by the time it gets out from under the kickspace overhang, it is a degree above ambient. (Fortunately, I bought mine at a steep discount, since the the unit is discontinued under the Nutone name)

I already had an under cabinet heater in our kitchen and replaced it with this unit. Installation was easy and it functions well. One thing to note (and a very small thing) when you have the cover off to connect the wiring, I recommend giving the upper panel a little tweak. I had an annoying rattle that ended up being the large upper (sheet metal) panel that would resonate with a small "oil can" effect when the heater reached full temperature. Putting a small tweak in the top added just enough stress to the top to take out the rattle.

Using the model with the internal thermostat allowed me to use the existing wiring without having to add a wall thermostat.

I received the product on the 19th and assembled it on the 20th hoping its usage will help knock my high energy bill down from its perennial crazy height of $178(?) for a 2 bedroom with minimal use of the A/C, haaa! At first i liked this fan, i think i still do if only i have one that is really functional. Yes, it has 8 speed control which i found very useful in the 2+ days it worked for me. Sometimes the air that blows from my very reliable Lasko tower fan (very sturdy and does what its meant to do-blow air) can become a bit uncomfortable and cold even on its lowest speed like in the early hours of the morning,say from 3am onwards. In using this Honeywell fan, one comes to appreciate those varied speeds of sleep,whisper,calm,white noise and relaxwhich has been the highest speed i attained while using it. The higher speeds are refresh,cool and power cool.

At the whisper and calm speed, the air is neither too little or much but just appropriate to keep you quite cool and not uncomfortable-when the fan is working!

Alas, twice i woke up to find myself sweating. The fan is oscillating quite well...but NO AIR. At first i thought maybe my skin has become toughened like an alligators' and so cannot feel its coolness, so i held a paper in font of it, nothing, nada,zip air. To compound the ridiculousness of the situation, the temperature on it changed from 78-77-76 degrees when i increased the speed from calm to the highest speed even though its primary task of dissipating air has been defeated.Speeds change,it oscillates-just nothing,empty air.

The 2 stars are for the period it worked and not indicative of the entire Honeywell collection, maybe it is just my luck of the draw that got me this defective one.If this thing was working as my Lasko fan( longevity), this is really a 5 star product and my love for it would have exceeded my Lasko,really. The calm and whisper speed really gives a gentle breeze when used in A/C.. Now i have to worry about buying an outer box to transport this product back, this is an inconvenience you do not worry about when dealing with Walmart. Oh, i am not knocking Amazon in anyway, their Customer service response is top notch hands down.

Honeywell need to do a little more testing on this HY-280. But i am not sure i want to try this product again for my money given that it can fail anytime.Longevity is quite important.

I have owned 2 of this same exact fan, purchased from a local retail giant. I love the fan, I love the features and it does a great job cooling the room (WHEN IT WORKS).

It's quiet and efficient, and a lot more settings than most fans of this type.

THE PROBLEM THOUGH is that the first one I purchased completely stopped working after approx. 6-9 months of using it. I thought surely being a big brand name and all that maybe it was a fluke and decided to go back and by another one just like it. Well this one lasted a little longer, maybe 12 months and it has now stopped functioning as well. The first one completely broke, and acted like it had no power to it. It wouldn't turn on and the controls didn't light up. The 2nd one, turns on, the controls light up but the fan won't turn on and it won't oscillate.

Overall, I wouldn't buy this fan, unless you don't mind buying a new one at least once a year.

I'm a musician and I play a quiet instrument. This fan is the quietest I've ever seen.

There's a notch in the base for the power cord to come out. But nothing to make the cord

stay in the notch. A bit funny. I fixed it with some string and glue. Looks ugly, but

it prevents unnecessary wear on the insulation.

Assembly was not easy. And the assembly instructions left something to be desired.

But, overall a good fan. If you're looking from a quiet one, this is worth a try.

Wife came to me and said the dryer wouldn't turn on. You could hear an electronic click, but no movement on our electric dryer. After doing some research, figured this was the culprit. Our dryer died and I knew this had failed after testing the circut. It worked perfectly and the dryer is still going. One word of caution, sometimes these things blow out because the dryer is overheating. If the new one burns out again quickly, check the dryer vent for being plugged. If that is not the cause, time for a new dryer. Bypassing this fuse is a sure fire way to burn your house down. Pun intended.

A fuse is a pretty simple item but the one I removed was burned out and this replacement fuse makes my dryer 'as good as new'.

I am so glad and happy I was able to find this on Amazon and have it delivered to my house. Really quick delivery. I ordered on Saturday and received on Monday. I ordered two (saving one for next repair.) Very simple to replace. I used a mutimeter (costs about $10) to determine that this was what I needed. At this price though, you could just buy the thermofuse and see if it fixes the problem of the dryer not heating.

Was the exact part for my dryer. Just wished it had the product number on it so if I ever needed another one then I would have the correct number on hand. Received in a timely manner. Was glad I could get this for a little of nothing on Amazon because the only place I could actually go in and get it, the price was ridiculous and the only appliance store that sold parts within a 20-30 mile radius of my house. It ended up being my heating element on the dryer and I couldn't go another week without a dryer so I bought that at the expensive appliance store mentioned instead of online. Is it possible to love a heater? If so, I do. This little guy puts out some serious heat, distributes it well in my 15'x15' room, and does both quietly. Prior to buying this, I had purchased a radiator type heater that just didn't put out much heat so I returned it. I love that I can turn on the thermostat and let it go. Nothing more to think about. The oscillation feature is a huge perk. The only thing I'd add is a feature that automatically turns the unit off if it is knocked over. I paid fifty bucks for it at my local HD, which I did so I could easily return it if need be. No need. I'll run this thing 'til it keels over.

Just finished putting this together and I have to say this is a beautiful fireplace for the money. The firebox is top quality and the fire is extremely realistic. This adds such a wonderful touch of elegance to our bedroom not to mention the heating benefits. It takes around 2 and a half hours to put together and you actually get more parts than are actually required for assembly. I am extremely happy with my purchase

This fireplace is great. It heats our home and makes it cozy. I get a lot of compliments when people come over. It's something we use often and enjoy. It's not the most expensive looking and that is why I gave it 4 stars, but I would recommend for the price.
