Used on a whirlpool LE5700 dryer. Replaced the low heat control 145 deg. thermostat. I like drying on the lowest setting to protect the cloth. I installed the thermostat, set adjustment to 140 as per the chart, turned on the dryer and monitored the temperature with my meter as the thermostat cycled at the set point. Worked like a charm.

First of all, I am no home fixit guy. I did some Internet research and decided that the even though the Nest was much cooler looking it might (and I didn't test it of course) not learn as well as it advertised. So I decided to get a more conventional thermostat that had all the Internet bells and whistles. Long story short I installed it with absolutely no problems, including connecting it to my WI-FI. In less than an hour I had my Ecobee portal and was programmed. I love the remote acessability and reports. I can access it from a browser, iPhone and iPad. Lots of configurability and the daily schedule is easy to change. They can update the SW over the Net so I am pretty confident it will just get better. The display is simple and direct (not though as simple as the Nest). There are some menus but they are very well done and very easy to learn. Kudos to this well thought out product.

The feature set is perfect for what I need. Ecobee's Privacy Policy is first class, unlike their competitors. Venstar's policy is non-compliant with the law, cavalier with your data and they don't care. The Nest policy reads as if they're planning to renegue and turn YOU into the product when they build enough users.

Alas, SmartSI won't won't work with my configuration. I have an AC unit and oil burner. The oil burner does not produce the required 24V signal, and the unit will not operate with just the 24V signal coming from the AC unit.

The support desk was responsive, but not all that helpful. They kept sending diagrams of configurations that didn't match what my AC service man was describing. After spending 2 hours and $200 trying to get it installed, I ended up returning the unit. We'll see if Alpine dings me 10% for opening the box and cracking the binding on the installation manual.

I installed the Ecobee in about 45 minutes, liked it so much I bought 2 more for rental properties. There is absolutely nothing not to like about this. These people who said it wasnt "compatible" with their system probably just dont know how to read the manual. You have to tell it what type of system you haveheat pump, gas furnace + AC etc.... This thing is so smart it knows ho wlong it takes yoru HVAC to heat or cool your house so if you program it to turn up the heat at say 7AM, it can be set up to make sure it's warmed up BY 7AM. I think the thig I love most about the Ecobee is the ability to wake up in the morning & turn up the heat without getting out of bed. By the way, Amazon has the best price anywhere on this.

Honest reviews on ecobee EB-EMSSi-01 2 Heat 2 Cool Energy Management System

I already had installed an Ecobee Smart Thermostat on one of the HVAC systems in the house and was very pleased. The only negatives were the cost and the need to install the remote control board in the air handler. While I understand the significant advantages to this design, it makes the installation a bit more complicated and intimidating. The new Si model is affordable and very easy to install. In fact, I purchased 2 of them for the other zones in the house and had them both installed and running in about 30 minutes total. I'm very pleased with the Ecobee offering and would highly recommend it without hesitation.

Tired of physically programming multiple thermostats for shifting schedules, we decided to try two ecobee EB-EMSSi-01 units. We loved the way they worked and the ability to manage them remotely. We now have eight. The "Calendar" feature, enabling us to program for special events outside of our normal schedule, is especially helpful. With the control we now have we are experiencing a more comfortable building and expect cost savings, too.

I really loved the heater, it was safe around the pets. I was sitting in the room and smelled something burning, picked up the unit and everything looked fine. 20 minutes later the unit shut off. When I unplugged the unit, the plug had melted. From the way that it had melted, it was clear that something was wrong with the plug. I liked the product, but this made me worry. I don't know if I will replace it with the same thing.

So I used to love this heater. It served me well for a little under a year. But just tonight as I was trying to turn it on the plug had a tiny explosion and the reset button melted. I have no idea what caused it but I found it very unnerving. Now looking for a replacement. Not sure if I will replace it with the same model.

I bought this for a baseboard electric heater because I didn't want to go to the trouble of mounting and wiring a thermostat in the wall. The first disadvantage is that you have to get down on floor with a flashlight to set and program it. The second disadvantage is that whatever temperature you set it is not what the room will be because it is mounted on the heater. When the heater comes on it warms the thermostat much sooner than the room and cuts the heater off. So to make it work you have to set it much higher than you want the room to be and then come back and reset it after the room has warmed up.

One of the reasons I purchased this was that the on/off rocker switch would be a nice replacement for the old knob thermostat, which half the time ended up getting turned in the wrong direction so that the heater was left on at the highest setting when the intention had been to turn it off.

Unfortunately, switching the switch to off completely resets the program, including the time of day! That's right, flipping the switch on the bottom of this uint to off will completely erase the entire schedule that you've tediously programmed into it, using its paltry three buttons while sitting on the floor.

Also, this unit is a very poor fit for the Cadet baseboard heater that I purchased at the same time. And the electronics in this thing probably cost about a nickel to manufacture. This thing is horribly overpriced garbage.

Do not buy!

Best Deals on CADET MANUFACTURING CO Smart Base 208/240V Almond Electronic

If you have electric baseboard heat and want a digital programmable setback thermostat -and you do, because it will make your rooms more comfortable and save you money -but you don't want to wire in a regular thermostat on the far side of the room, this on-the-baseboard thermostat is the one for you.

It only fits Cadet Series F baseboards, so you'll probably end up replacing the one you have now.

Installation is the same as for any on-the-baseboard thermostat (have an electrician do it if you're not familiar with household wiring). Programming is pretty easy. The thermostat's temperature regulation is much better than I expected. I thought the heater would heat up the sensor and mess it up, but the sensor is right at the bottom, and the way convection works is that hot air exits the top of the unit, which draws cold air in at the bottom, and putting the sensor at the bottom of the thermostat assembly does the trick.

The only issues are:

1. Power outages (including a blink of about a second) cause the unit to lose track of what time it is. It still remembers its heating program, though.

2. If you have furniture in front of your baseboard heaters, getting at the thermostat can be a nuisance.

The 3405A cadet digital thermostat is eons ahead of the old bimetal cadet switch it replaced! Don't hesitate to replace yours. The new digital thermostat is way more accurate and so it does not over-shoot and under-shoot the temperature. This thermostat will provide you with an even room temperature. Say good bye to the thermal swings... it is just right!

These aren't a fix all. No they wont read as accurate as a wall thermostat there lower to the floor. Yes it will take a little more work setting it. But its still better than a twist to set thermostat.Dont install it yourself, Most of you wont BEABLE TO MAKE IT WORK. Hire electrician.

They dont fit all baseboard heaters..

Sunbeam Imperial Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket Reviews

Sunbeam Twin Imperial Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket, Glacier Blue

This is the third electric blanket I've ever owned. I have not been satisfied with the first two from other brands. This is my first Sunbeam and I was impressed as soon as it slid from the package. The material is soft and strong. The stitching is even and doubled. A lightweight blanket in heft only. This blanket warms up quickly and self regulates for consistant temperature contol. The nicest feature is a locking clip where the cord attaches to the blanket. No more coming unattached and shutting off while you're sleeping. This is a beautiful piece of bedding and will not disappoint. Well made, well designed and backed by a good warranty. It is worth every penny and then some.

She loves it so far. I own a couple of other sunbeam heated blankets and know you can't beat them for the price. This one is a great color and really soft.

The control looks nicer than the ones I have on my blankets, it is digital and has 10 different settings. I also like the 10 hour auto-off safety feature.

Would definitely recommend.

Best Deals on Sunbeam Imperial Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket

I'm not a big fan of electric blankets, but my wife is. Needless to say, we bought this for her. However, I do enjoy using the preheat feature for about 5 minutes or so to warm the bed up before I get into it. We have a California King bed but the king blanket fits just fine. After doing some research, I couldn't find a CA king electric blanket anywhere so I assume they aren't made.

This blanket works well. The controls are sleek and modern-looking and there seems to be plenty of room to leave them on the floor or set them on a nightstand. One possible concern is that the cord that plugs into the wall is on the right side controller. We had to make some adjustments because the outlet on the right side was pretty full. Plugging the unit into a wall on the left side of the bed doesn't really allow the right-side controller enough room to rest on the nightstand.

Sunbeam makes a variety of controls. The one with this blanket is called "ComfortSet" if you want to do some comparing. It's near the top of the line and the only thing that is missing is the ambient temp compensation that their top two models have.

My wife finds the warmth to be more than adequate. The controls allow plenty of settings and the preheat and auto off features are nice. This isn't a fancy, plush, high-quality blanket but it is still soft and appears to be well-made. Of course, it didn't cost over $200 either.

We purchased this item from DealYard. I'm always leery of non-Amazon vendors but the blanket was delivered on time and came in a new package. They appear to buy discontinued items so I couldn't find more info about this blanket on Sunbeam's website. The packaging had JC Penney's name on it and the directions had a 2007 copyright date.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam Imperial Nights Electric Heated Warming Heating Blanket

Perfect blanket for the cottage...for those cool spring and fall nights nothing beats a warm bed! The purchase was a breeze between DealYard and Amazon...no problems with the seller.

There definitely seems to be a problem with Sunbeam blankets.

I purchased mine (another model) a year ago, it worked that winter, and when I pulled it out this year it was just plain Dead.

Considering I spent a hundred dollars on it, and I really loved the blanket last winter, I was sorely disappointed by this event.

I emailed customer service three times and received three useless replies.

They wanted me to mail my King Sized, Dead blanket to Mississippi to be "Repaired"; shipping it at MY expense....can you say $45.00?

Now...I had a 50/50 chance of this blanket going in to be fixed (I am only in year two of my five year warranty)only to have it happen again after it was "fixed". If I had to send it again to be "fixed" to the tune of $45.00, I'd have nearly bought a new one. I really did not want this blanket back, it is obviously defective in some way, or just bad by design...of which, I do not know. Somehow this just didn't make sense to me and the odds felt very against my favor.

I truly had tried to get this blanket to work six times, as did my husband. I orginally bought it for him as we have sub-zero weather and it's nice when he gets off at 6 a.m. to crawl into a heated bed after he's half frozen. So you see, this was important to me to find a resolution to this problem. I even looked at other brands of blankets, but there are not many out there, it would seem Sunbeam has a cornered this market quite well, and what is out there, is three times as expensive. I...happen to think $100 for a blanket is exhorbitant, but with heat...well worth it. IF it works.

So I offered to spend ANOTHER $100 on a $200.00 Sunbeam blanket for a NEW one. And they said they didn't do Exchanges...apparently the extra $100 wasn't worth pleasing Me. Odd, I thought. So this time I emailed customer service and I asked to have my message forwarded to a Supervisor as the Customer Service responses were unacceptable at best. I informed them that I had posted EIGHT bad reviews on the internet and if they did not wish to accomodate me in some way, that I had all week to write Bad Reviews on their blankets. I also told them I was contacting Jarden, the parent company about this. One lovely Customer Service lady had the gall to tell me their products were excellent...really? Because MINE ISN'T and then I copied all the reviews from Amazon and sent them to her to prove that..no, they are NOT excellent! Here's your proof on 75 reviews! After that email, I looked up the President of Jarden and got his phone number, I was prepared to call him on Monday morning.

Believe me...in this age, reviews are important!! If you buy something...leave a review! Even if you aren't buying from Amazon, leave a review here! It makes a difference!!

Now for the good part...

DON'T ACCEPT NO FOR AN ANSWER!! I'm glad I didn't!

While I was shopping on Saturday, a very nice lady from Sunbeam called me to say she was going to assist me with my problem.

I was shopping after Thanksgiving and was standing in Best Buy at the time, and she offered to call me Tuesday.

Today is Tuesday, and she did as promised, she called.

She had all my information and emails, she asked for some numbers off of my blanket, and promised to send me shipping tags to mail my blanket back to them at their cost!! Yay, finally someone helpful!!

AND she ordered me a new blanket!!!!

I could NOT BE MORE PLEASED at this point! And I'm praying my new blanket will not have any problems.

But very happy that Sunbeam addressed my problem and made me happy! Now THAT is Customer Service!!!

So...IF you have a problem with YOUR blanket, contact Sunbeam. Don't just eat the money you spent, your money is as good as mine is, and your product SHOULD WORK. I feel that Sunbeam did what was right by their product and as consumers we have a right to be happy with our purchases. A blanket with a five year warranty SHOULD WORK FOR FIVE YEARS right? If it doesn't, they need to honor our purchase with a product that will work.

Anyway...Happy with SUNBEAM!!!

I bought this just to have something cool on my desk, and I love it! It looks great on the corner of my desk, and reminds me of the little bubbling lites that used to be on my Christmas tree when I was a kid.

I only gave it four stars because it's obviously not 100% accurate, and the barometer is a little hard to fill. It comes with a syringe and tube to fill it, but the tube takes awhile to thread into the barometer. It also takes three syringes full to get the barometer to a good level.

Amazon doesn't give measurements, but the base is about 8" wide, the Galileo thermometer is about 8" high as well, and the glass water barometer is almost 7" high.

I bought this as a birthday present for my fiance and he LOVES it. It looks great on a bookshelf or desk, and is a great conversation starter. I didn't have any problems filling the barometer (instead of taking the tube out of the barometer to refill, simply take the syringe off the end of the tube). Overall it is a great product, and a very cool design!

Best Deals on AcuRite 00795 Galileo Thermometer with Glass Globe Barometer

I purchased this item, and the 17" stand alone thermometer model. I knew nothing about barometers. I knew nothing about Galileo thermometers. I use this model in my living room.

The weather glass does indeed respond to pressure changes, and does a nice job of predicting foul weather. The thermometer is accurate, easy to read (and interpolate). It only works in a range of 64 thru 80 degrees F, but anything above or below those readings is likely to require I do something with the heating and cooling around my house, so it tells me what I need to know.

I think this is a great gift for kids interested in science. I have other weather glasses too, but this one comes in combination with a neat, accurate thermometer. I'm not a kid anymore, but I find it fun, as well as useful, myself.

Honest reviews on AcuRite 00795 Galileo Thermometer with Glass Globe Barometer

Very cool to have on your desk! I would of given it extra stars, but setting up the barometer can be tricky if you do not follow the directions exactly, and you do NEED to have sterile/distilled water along with food coloring (any color but I like blue as shown).

Also, if you put too much water or not enough water into the barometer, you have to use the syringe and little hose to take the water out. HOLD onto the syringe and hose, DO NOT throw away as you never know when it'll come into handy again.

As for the Galilio thermometer, that's pretty accurate and cool!

For those real weather geeks out there I say to get the biggest Galilio Thermometer (it's TWO FEET TALL) and can be purchased through Amazon 3rd party sellers. That one gives you 2 deg temps and is a nice thing to have in an office or desk.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for AcuRite 00795 Galileo Thermometer with Glass Globe Barometer

I was excited about this piece when I ordered it for my office, however, although it looks nice, it is not as big as I expected. The temperature is showing 4 degree Fahrenheit increments (64,68,72,76,80) which is not as precise as I'd like. The main problem however surfaced two weeks after receiving this. Weather glass initially couldn't fit in its hole in the wooden stand, but since the misfit was minimal, I mistakenly decided to sand the hole and make it fit instead of returning the whole set and waiting for the replacement. Since there was no wood polish left, this later resulted in a cracked glass over the weekend when it got sunny in the office, some water overflew and wet the stand, the wood contracted and cracked the base of the bottle, and all water leaked to the desk. So if you receive this and it doesn't fit, you better quit (return it). Otherwise, I really like the thermometer because it confirms my belief in analog scales one glimpse and you know where you're at, and here's the analogy with my moods:

red, blue and orange up: it's too cool for most people, but kewl for me

both blue and red up: good work environment for me,

only red up: I'm hot,

red down: I'm miserable and ready to leave the office because I can't work in such heat.

Summary: Nice looking toy for grownups.

I spent several days on Amazon to compare different grills before I placed the order. And yes, this is the one! The temperature can be very high and heating is fast. Very less smoke and the non-sticky surface is good so far easy to clean and won't peel off. It is also very easy to move around and assemble/disassemble. Light but well-made. The price is also competitive. Much cheaper than the Zojirushi one. We have several appliances from Zojirushi, but I will prefer this one for grill. Plus it has an interchangeable griddle surface. So everything is perfect.

I had to send this same grill back to another store because the handle was broken. But when I saw this one with the griddle also included I had to try it again. This one also had a broken piece to the handle, but I managed to fix it, and happy to have kept it. It has been a pleasure to use.

I have grilled chicken, steak and fish in the first week, I liked it so much. This electric grill is slotted for air and it gets hot enough to give a nice browning like a gas bar-b-que does. The pan below it catches the drips. I added (as instructed) a half cup of water to the lower pan and everything was easy clean up. Easy cleaning and browning was my goal and this grill did really well.

I don't really like the G. Forman type grills, so was happy to find this electric open grill that can move inside or out, instead of gas grilling, yet on the sink indoors! I set it outside my door by a close electric outlet when grilling fish so the smells stay outside. Worked beautifully!

The griddle is an added plus, and they both will go in the RV perfectly. Lightweight also, and I hope it lasts because I really found what I was looking for.

We bought this alarm because we have young kids who love to be independent and help out by getting their own ice and food. Since our indoor freezer is a bottom pull-out, they can get into it easily. We also have an upright freezer in the garage. We had one week where a freezer was left open three times. This alarm has helped tremendously.

We are using both sensors in the two freezers. They come pre-programmed with min/max settings, one for the refrigerator and one for the freezer. It is very simple to change those settings though and the directions were clear.

I really like that it has a fifteen-minute delay before the alarm sounds. That is, the temperature has to be above the set point for 15 minutes before the alarm is triggered. That feature prevents false alarms when a 3-year old is having trouble deciding which ice cube is the perfect one for his juice.

I wish I had known that for freezer use you need to use lithium batteries (AA) as they work at lower temperatures versus alkaline. We didn't have any on hand and so had to wait to install the units. Extra trips to the store are a pain and I would have just ordered 4 (2 for ea) when I bought the unit if I had known.

Purchased to monitor 2 freezers that are 60 feet apart. Though the manufacturer says that the display can be as far as 100 feet from the sensors I find that with intervening walls and doors the distance is reduced to about 40 feet. Found a convenient location half-way between both freezers and all works well. A great temperature monitoring system that can be used to monitor 2 freezers, 2 refrigerators or 1 of each.

Best Deals on Chaney Instrument 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer

After having one of our refrigerators freeze up and go out on us recently, we had water all over the floor and we lost quite a bit of food products. As we do not spend much time in the area where this refrigerator is, we had no idea it had gone out for quite some time. After purchasing a new refrigerator/freezer, we didn't want to take the chance of another disaster like this, so we searched for a thermometer and alarm system that would allow for an external display with separate internal temperature sensors for the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Every site we checked pointed to the Chaney 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer, so we eagerly ordered one. We also picked up a 4-pack of Lithium AA batteries to power the remote sensors.

Setup instructions for the Chaney 00985 thermometer are very simple and easy to follow. I had the batteries installed, and the sensors in place in less than 10 minutes. We decided to utilize the magnetic mounting of the receiver, and stuck it directly to the outside of the refrigerator door. Within a couple of minutes, the freezer sensor registered with the receiver, showing a temperature of 58°F. I knew the freezer was no higher than zero degrees, but I figured it would likely take several minutes for the sensor to adjust to the drastic temperature change. Ten minutes later I checked again and the freezer was still showing 58°F and the refrigerator sensor still hadn't registered with the receiver. After waiting an hour, the freezer temp showed 52°F and the refrigerator finally registered but showed a temp of 67°F. WOW, how crazy is that? I removed the batteries and started over. This time both sensors registered within the first 10 minutes, but after an hour they were still showing in the 50s and 60s.

Over the course of several hours we changed the location of the receiver and sensors, and I even went out and purchased a new set of batteries (at nearly $10.00 for a 4-pack of lithium AAs). Many times the sensors wouldn't register with the receiver at all, unless I had them extremely close together (I'm talking within one foot of each other). The only way I could get this product to work is if I took the remote sensors out of the refrigerator and freezer compartments and placed them right next to the receiver. I am not exaggerating at all here folks, the sensors had to be literally within inches of the receiver in order to register and provide fairly accurate temperature readings. It eventually became clear to me that this product will not work at all with the sensors in the refrigerator and freezer compartments at all. Isn't this supposed to be the whole purpose of this product, to measure the internal temperatures of a refrigerator and freezer?

I don't know if our new refrigerator/freezer came with some sort of doors that the signal could not penetrate, but obviously this product would not work for us and I feel that the wireless signal they use is extremely poor. Amazon was great about letting me return this device, but now my wife and I cannot find any other wireless device to replace it with. There are a couple of others on the market, but they receive rather poor ratings as well and we are afraid to take a chance on them. I really, REALLY wanted to like the Chaney 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer. It looks awesome and the features of this product are exactly what we have been looking for. However, this device is obviously made of extremely poor quality, and I recommend that anyone who decides to purchase this product should keep the packaging and receipt handy, as it is likely you will end up needing to return it. I would gladly pay three times as much for this product if it would work reliably. In the meantime, if anyone knows of a product like this that is proven to work well, please let me know. Thank you.

Honest reviews on Chaney Instrument 00985 Wireless Refrigerator Freezer Thermometer

Given the mixed reviews of this product, I was pretty hesitant to order it. However, there weren't a lot of alternatives so I thought I'd go ahead and try it. I'm happy to say that it works just fine and I'm actually quite happy with it.

------

SET-UP

------

The set-up was easy. I put the AA-Lithium batteries in the sensors first, and then the AAA-Lithium batteries into the base and within 1 minute it had registered both sensors and started working.

--------

ACCURACY

--------

This was my biggest concern given some of the other comments. However, with both sensors side by side on a table, they both read within 1 degree of each other, and both matched my external room thermometer. Good enough for me!

Then I placed them in my fridge and freezer. They took about 15 minutes to acclamatize and then started reading exactly the same as the readouts built in to the fridge.

--------

RANGE

--------

This was the key point for me. I needed something that was going to have range, as I don't want to have the main base attached to the outside of the door.

With the base attached to the door, no problem they worked fine.

With the base 20ft away and in the next room also worked great.

When I moved one of the sensors out of the freezer and into a room down the hall (about 35ft away) it stopped registering that one, but still read the other in the fridge (20ft away) I suspect the multiple walls were blocking the signal.

The one negative I would say about this, is that unlike the Orgagon Scientific thermometers I've used, this base unit provides no indication that it has lost contact with the sensor. I'd suggest that if it doesn't get an update within 2 minutes, it should show that on the screen somehow. Instead, this unit just keeps showing the last known temp -not very helpful.

Also, once it has lost it's connection, it seems that you have to remove the batteries or hit the paperclip sized reset button on the main base to re-initiate the connection.

Dead simple to set and exactly what I needed.

BATTERIES

I saw somebody else complained in a review that you have to use expensive lithium batteries in the sensors. That's a little silly isn't it? It's hardly the manufacturers fault that alkaline batteries would freeze in the freezer and not function.

My only complaint (and admitedly it's also a bit dumb) is that Amazon shipped the batteries in a separate box and 2 days later than the actual thermometers, so I had it sitting here for two days while I wanted to try it. See, told you it was dumb.

-----------------------

In closing, I think this is a good product. It seems well constructed. The mounting options of suction cups or spring clips on the sensors and wall hanging or magnets on the base are appreciated.

The only things that would make this a 5 star in my opinion are:

indicate when you've lost a signal

make the base available in silver and/or black

sell as a bundle with your first set of lithium batteries included.

I'm now going to take it out to my RV where I really need it. I will edit this if I have any future problems.

I'd buy it again...

Jay.

I am a wine writer and also a low carb writer. For both of the websites I run I get bombarded with questions from readers who want to know how to keep their wines and foods fresh for as long as possible. We are all trying to save money in these times, and keeping your food and drink fresh until you finish eating it is certainly an obvious way to help out. In almost every case, my guidance to the people is to test the temperature in their fridge and freezer. Many people are shocked to realize that their fridges are FAR too warm, and that is causing their food to spoil and their wine to sour.

The Chaney Refrigerator / Freezer Thermometer is a brilliant way to keep an eye on how your food is doing. Here is how it works. You get one thermometer which you put into the back of your refrigerator. A second thermometer goes into the back of your freezer. Both of these send signals *wirelessly* to a display unit. The display unit is magnetic and can stick easily to the front of your refrigerator.

You can walk by your fridge and see at a glance exactly what temperature your fridge and freezer are currently at. The system also displays the highest and lowest temperature each area has reached since you last reset the values. So if you set your fridge normally to 34F and you see that it has been swinging between 20F and 50F, it's time to call a repair person! That would definitely cause serious damage to your food.

In addition, you can set alarm values, both high and low, for both sensors. So you can set the freezer to start beeping an alarm if it drops below -50F, or if it goes up above 0F. Of course the chance of your freezer suddenly going insane and becoming "way too cold" is probably slim but I know a number of people who had electrical problems with their fridges and who lost cooling ability without realizing it at first. Having a beeping alarm go off before your freezer's contents all thaw is a very good thing!

The wireless unit says that it can transmit a fair distance, but this of course would depend on all sorts of things if there are concrete walls between the source and destination, if there are other interfering signals around, and so on. For me, I know it works with the display on the outside of the fridge it is monitoring. So I can say with great certainty that that works very well.

I know for sure the alarm works wonderfully only a few weeks after buying the unit, we had a thunderstorm take out the power. It was only a short while later when the fridge half of our unit began beeping.

Is there a downside to this? Well, when we first got the set, the display LEDs simply would not light up well. We tried at least 8 different sets of batteries in it to ensure it wasn't a bad set of batteries. Some of the number pieces would light up, while others would stay completely unlit. We called up Chaney and they were extremely prompt and helpful. Only a few days later we had a fully functional display unit in our hands, and it worked beautifully. Electronic devices will never be 100% foolproof so I don't ding them much for having that glitch, and offer praise for them resolving it so readily.

All in all, I love this device. I can glance at my fridge every time I use it and know exactly what its temperature is and what the recent ranges of temperature have been. I can optimize the fridge and freezer to have the optimal temperatures to keep my food and wine fresh for as long as possible. That means milk lasts longer, salad fixings last longer, everything lasts longer. That stretches my food dollar as well as it can be stretched, and easily pays for the price of the thermometer within a month or two.

Highly recommended. I'm even looking into getting another one for my wine fridges. The only question then would be if the wireless transmitters interfere with each other!

I tried two other thermostats (temp too low) before I got this one to replace the failed one in a Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker. I had never measured the temperature of the coffee before the original thermostat failed; this seems to hold it at about 200F which is maybe a little too hot (but it's only 160F at the top of the carafe).

This thermostat has a plain flat back, not the cut-out for the spring clip that the others had and which the Zo uses. So I had to play some games with pliers to reshape the clip and electrical tape to make sure it didn't short where the quick-connect tabs connect in. But that's more to do with the coffeemaker than this thermostat.

Although the thermostat got my Farberware percolator working again, it never reached the 145 degree setting because the coffee pot never shut off. I had to unplug it. Coffee was extremely hot, so I would have thought it had reached its temperature.

this thermostat put the coffee maker back in action until another day and another problem.

i did have to use jb weld to glue it to the high temperature heat pipe but that went without a problem.

glad i did it.

This is the way to go. Perfect results every time. No more wondering if it's done. Whether you BBQ or smoke steak, hamburgers, chicken, veal, turkeys, pork know when the right temperature has been reached each and every time. One MAJOR tip the main unit and the probe both require to be RESET before the first use in order to sync up both signal and reception. The reset button is located inside each device's battery compartment. If your unit doesn't work right out of the box, then this is most likely the reason. With both units on, press the reset button.

I like OS products, especially their weather stations, which I use. But I cannot recommend these grill thermometers. I threw both in the trash after they gave bizzare readings. Today, I was set to grill a prime rib roast....the OS probe (the one I had NOT thrown away because of the same problem) registered 199 degrees out of the refrigerator.

I compared to my Maverick thermometer, bought also on Amazon. It registered the correct 52 degrees.

I covet my meats done to perfection, and so far OS has not done the job. The Maverick dual senor thermometer has performed very well in my Weber grill and my Charbroil fryer. And yes, I know how to use digital, remote thermometers....lol.

For my money, try the Maverick.....good performer and does not give you wacko temp readings like BOTH of my OS did.

I purchased this product because we have a four-story house and I did not want to be stuck near the kitchen to hear the temperature gauge sound. The range on this product is exceptional. Being three floors away from the base unit was not too far for the receiving sensor; it still functioned as it was designed. I have also been outside the house in the yard and the sensor still worked appropriately.

I use this product mostly in the oven. If takes the guess work out of large cuts of meat. The beef temperature that is preset is too high for my taste. But, I know this and just monitor the temperature and know that the alarm will not sound until the meat is overcooked, in my opinion.

As one of the other viewers indicated you do have to "synchronize" the base and receiving until by pressing the reset button on both items after installing the batteries and turning both products on. Check the directions, they spell out the process.

The belt clip and/or table stand is a nice feature of the product.

Another highly recommend product.

after setting it up and reading the manual, i put it in some boiling water to check the calibration. it showed 188F, not a good sign. then i waited for it to cool off before plunging it into a glass of ice-cold water (water with lots of ice cubes, well-stirred and rested). the temperature came out to be 67F. my room temperature is at 70F, and this thermometer showed 92F. i was hoping at least that if it's off, it's off consistently so that i could still use it with some simple arithmetic, but the readings are almost completely erratic. what a piece of junk.

I used this once or twice, and the next time I went to use it, it didn't work (I believe the part without the screen stopped turning on). Hoping that it was a lone defective model, I exchanged it for a new one, which worked for perhaps a year.

My house has thick plaster walls, so the reception wasn't the greatest from one floor up, but when it lost signal, I'd move it and it would eventually start working again. I used it inside, not outside, and treated it carefully. Leaving it on the 135 degree setting causes it to beep at 130, which is when I'll take a pork roast out of the oven. For beef, I'd prefer about 120, so I try to keep an eye on the display.

A week or two ago, I realized that the temperature of a roast seemed low, so I went to check with a second thermometer. It read 130, but the wireless said it was 75... and as I watched over the course of a few seconds, 75 changed to 78, then 71, then 89, then 65... I tried changing the batteries, resetting both units, etc., but nothing helped.

I cannot recommend a product with such a short life span. While this is the only wireless model I've tried, we've also had Polder models with a wired probe and digital readout, and they, too, have failed quickly. It is obvious that most of these thermometers are manufactured by the same place and rebranded -this Oregon Scientific model looks identical to a Weber, for example -so I'll now be shopping for ones made by different companies, with different displays and form factors.

Previous reviewer stated that two red wires were required for this thermostat. They are mistaken. The instructions clearly state that if you do not have separate wire for RC and RH terminals. You install a jumper wire between these two terminals. It is very rare to have separate wires going to each of these terminals. Normally jumper comes pre installed or provided. Install the jumper between the terminals and your problem is solved.

Does what it's supposed to do and seems to do it well. I was looking for a simple, non-programmable thermostat and this one fit the bill. Very easy to install -I did it myself, but I am fairly handy around the house.

UPDATE: I installed this thermostat in the winter and it worked well. It is now summer and I was trying to get the AC to come on. Well, this thermostat requires TWO RED wires coming from the wall but I only have one. As a temporary measure I have switched the one red wire into the area on the thermostat marked RC (for Red Cooling). It was in the RH slot (Red Heating). In the winter I will have to switch the red wire back to the RH slot. Or find another non-programmable thermostat that only requires 1 red wire. I found an extra unused blue wire, but that did not help.

Cheap Honeywell - QuietSet 8-Speed Whole Room Tower Fan, Black

Honeywell - QuietSet 8-Speed Whole Room Tower Fan, Black

Honeywell intended this thing for use while people sleep. I know this, because there is a scene right on the box of people sleeping. However, what I discovered is that if I want to use this thing at night, I need a thick hand towel to cover the top because the lights they put on this thing will burn the retina right out of your head.

While trying to sleep, Batman appeared in my window because he thought I had launched the bat signal.

Then about a week later, I got a letter from the FAA stating whatever light was coming from my house was blinding pilots.

Snooki drops by once a week to use the light to tan.

In case you're not picking up what I'm putting down, this thing is ridiculously, stupidly bright. It's like, 4 solid inches of blue light that will pierce your soul. I can't believe the same company brilliant enough to put airplanes in the air would put high-beams on top of an oscillating cooler intended for use while people sleep.

This is the BEST tower fan ever!!!I just moved and only put in one AC in my bedroom and left my old tower fan behind (it was old, ugly and noisey) This very nice looking fan looks great in my living room. It has 8 settings from super quiet to the other "white noise" setting and super cool which is like having air conditioning air blown around. I have actually opted not to put in another AC for now. The other tower fans I had in the past are NO comparison to this. You get what you pay for and this honeywell fan is soooo worth the money!! I highly recomend this fan... I would give this 10 stars!! And as usual Amazons service is the BEST.

Here's why we desperately needed more than an average fan for our home:

We live in an older home with a very uneven heating and cooling system. The first floor can be comfortably cool while the upstairs bedrooms are sweltering hot. And yes...I know it can be typically warmer on the second floor of a home than the first but the variation in our home is extreme, way past the norm. As a result, we've already paid plenty to try and resolve this situation. Unfortunately, our budget forbids paying for the extensive duct work rearrangement needed to resolve the problem. We're saving up for that.

In the meantime, this fan has made our home so much more liveable now. We sleep better and longer. It has been a quick and satisfying fix for a very frustrating problem. It also keeps our air conditioning costs low....amazingly low, compared to the years before we bought this fan. I think this is because if we feel cooler we aren't using our air conditioner as often.

I'm not usually crazy about "bells and whistles" on gadgets because they often boost the price without making much difference. But in this case, the extra settings are a MAJOR plus.

There are 8 speeds and this fan is AMAZINGLY quiet (I stress this point because I haven't found a fan even close to this one). Depending on your preference, you can set the fan to everything from "Sleep" to "Power Cool". There is also a "white noise" setting which had me asleep within minutes. You can also decide whether to have the fan revolve or stay still, depending on whether you want a steady stream of air blowing your way or not.

Even in an 85 degree room, the f keeps our son's bedroom feeling comfortably cool.

We plan on getting another for our guest room. Yes, it is pricy but it is worth it.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention another nifty feature: you can set the fan to turn off when the room reaches a desired temperature. So if the room is 85 degrees ( and let's hope it is not) , the fan turns off when it reaches 78 or 75 or a other setting. This means that if nights are cooler you don't have to remember to bother with the fan. Saves electricity!

I've purchased several spire fans from Sharper Image and they pale in comparison to this Honeywell fan. The Honeywell really cools a room quickly; I intend to buy several. Highly recommend.
